Northwest Division Recap: 1st Place: Oklahoma City Thunder 2nd Place: Portland Trail Blazers 3rd Place: Denver Nuggets 4th Place: Minnesota Timberwolves 5th Place: Utah Jazz I do not have enough time to finish the rest of the league, but here are a few teams I will get to. Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
I'm hearing that the Cleveland Cavaliers will NOT trade Andrew Wiggins in order to acquire Kevin Love. IMO, this is a very smart decision. LeBron can help Wiggins reach heights he may never have been able to reach otherwise and that is scary. If LeBron can turn Wiggins into his Scottie Pippen and then adding Kyrie Irving to the fold, the Cavs don't "need" Love. Sure, adding him to the team would be nice but it isn't a necessity. The Cavs have the leverage and eventually either the Minnesota Timberwolves will cave and take what they're offering or the Golden State Warriors will cave and include Klay Thompson. We will see.
AROUND THE ASSOCIATION: Some huge performances in the NBA on Friday night! Corey Brewer went off for the Minnesota Timberwolves scoring 51 points with 6 steals while his teammate Gorgui Dieng boasted 20 rebounds with 12 points and 2 blocks. Against the LA Lakers Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors with a triple-double scoring 30 points with 12 assists and 10 rebounds. In Chicago, The Detroit Pistons big man Andre Drummond scored 26 points to go along with 26 rebounds in a loss to the Chicago Bulls. Finally, in San Antonio, despite Eric Bledsoe coming an assist shy of a triple double for the Phoenix Suns, the San Antonio Spurs were the victors behind 33 points including 7 three-pointers by Danny Green.

The evening of Friday, January 24 was a historic one in the NBA. In New York, Carmelo Anthony set a franchise record with 62 points against the Charlotte Bobcats. In Houston, Chandler Parsons set an NBA record with 10 three-pointers in a half against the Memphis Grizzlies. Indiana Pacers star Paul George didn't set any records in Sacramento, but he did hit the shot of the night—a four-point play to send the Pacers to overtime, where they triumphed over the Sacramento Kings, 116-111. In Oakland, the Minnesota Timberwolves finally won a close game, 121-120, over the Golden State Warriors.

Here are today's Must-See Matchups: Key Game: Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks: Last postseason, the Pacers eliminated the Knicks in the second round of the playoffs. With the absence of Tyson Chandler, Roy Hibbert will most likely take advantage. -Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavaliers: Former overall picks John Wall and Kyrie Irving headline the matchup. Can Wall build on last night's success, or will Kyrie and the Cavs claim the victory? -LA Clippers at Minnesota Timberwolves: Last week, the Clippers defeated the Timberwolves in a close game. In the second game of this series, the Wolves will try to upset the Clippers. -Houston Rockets at Dallas Mavericks: Earlier this season, the Rockets decimated the Mavs in Houston. Dirk and Monta will try to give the Rockets a taste of their own medicine at home. -Memphis Grizzlies at Golden State Warriors: Despite the absence of Steph Curry, Igoudala and Thompson will seek to slaughter the Grizzlies, who currently hold a 3 game road win streak. -Jordan23
Western Conference breakdown continues... 5. Golden State Warriors: Why number 5?? GSW landed solid player Andre Iguodala to complement Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Low post threat Carl Landry is gone leaving Golden State a little thin on the front line, but with the return of "Double Double" David Lee and Andrew Bogut and the signings of Jermaine O'Neal and Marreese Speights should slide Golden State back into the playoffs. 6. Minnesota Timberwolves: Why number 6?? Rubio, Love and are all healthy and back. Nikola Pekovic resigned late summer. Draft pick Shabazz Muhammad should give Minnesota a speedy transition buckets off the bench. Rick Adelman is back to to helm a team that has tremendous upside if the core players stay healthy.
Important Years For Dirk, Aldridge, Love The middle of the Western Conference might be the most interesting storyline of the regular season. Six teams -- the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors -- seem to have separated themselves from the pack, leaving only two playoff spots available. A postseason appearance is particularly important for the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves, three franchises trying to keep an All-Star power forward in town. Barring injuries to a top team, there won't be lifeboats for all of them. Dirk Nowitzki, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love are too good to be annually missing the playoffs. Last season, injuries were the culprit for Nowitzki and Love, as their teams fell apart without them. Aldridge, meanwhile, was a good soldier on a team bringing along two lottery picks. As they move closer to the end of their contracts, the stakes are getting higher. With All- ...

Rockstarpoetry (Official) NBA Recap: Golden State Warriors 100 Minnesota Timberwolves 99 Warriors ride Jarrett Jack late, surge right by Wolves MINNEAPOLIS -- Jarrett Jack has been a rock-steady pro for eight years now, the kind of reliable performer contending teams crave. Even though he is still coming off the bench for Golden State, he's found himself in more of a starring role lately, and he showed the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday that he is equally comfortable as the leader of a playoff-caliber unit. Jack had 23 points and eight assists to rally the Warriors to a 100-99 victory over the Timberwolves. David Lee had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Warriors, who trailed by 16 in the first quarter before Jack jumpstarted the offense as he has all season. Reserve Carl Landry added 19 points and nine rebounds for Golden State, which has won three in a row following a six-game losing streak. "It's new to a lot of people," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "But that's who he is for us. He's been a spar ...

Timberwolves fan/tallest man in U.S. gets life-changing $25K custom Reeboks By Dan Devine PostsBy Dan Devine | Ball Don't Lie – 19 hours agoEmail Igor Vovkovinskiy smiles as he shows off his custom Reeboks to a reporter. (AP) Back in April, Alex Conover of the Minnesota Timberwolves' official website wrote about a trip to the Target Center taken by a unique visitor: Igor Vovkovinskiy of Rochester, Minn. who at 7 feet, 8 inches tall is the tallest person in the United States. Due to his great size, it had been years since Vovkovinskiy — who was born in the Ukraine but whose family came to Minnesota in 1989 so that he could undergo treatment at the Mayo Clinic for the pituitary gigantism that was accelerating his growth, has lived in the area since and became a Wolves fan as he grew up — had been able to fit in a regular spectator seat at the arena, so the team's front office organized accommodations for Vovkovinskiy in a special suite for a home game against the Golden State Warriors. It was a neat h ...
