Nuggets News: Jackson eyeing Shaw, Nuggets eyeing PGs? to ESPN.com, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson might turn his efforts towards prying Brian Shaw from the Denver Nuggets after missing out on Steve Kerr, who reached an agreement with the Golden State Warriors on May 15. Per ESPN: Sources close to the process told ESPN.com that the most likely scenario, even after Jackson was snubbed by the only candidate he has considered for the position since taking the Knicks’ job in March, remains hiring a younger coach Jackson has worked with previously and can mentor… Sources said Jackson also intends to explore whether the Denver Nuggets are in any way amenable to releasing Brian Shaw from his contract in exchange for some form of compensation. Shaw is a longtime Jackson favorite who, after missing out on numerous head-coaching jobs, just completed his first season with the Nuggets, posting a 36-46 record despite numerous injuries to front-line players. But Shaw told the Denver Post on Thursday: “I ...

The post season is still achievable for the Cavaliers despite winning only 2 of their last 7 ball games. The NBA playoff standings for 2014 are not set in stone yet as some teams are closing in on the bottom spots. The Atlanta Hawks have gone on a dismal 1-9 run in the last 10 games, allowing the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons to close in on the 8th spot. The Charlotte Bobcats and Brooklyn Nets are not that far ahead either. So the Eastern Conference playoff positionings could easily change in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, an 2-8 showing in the last 10 games for the Denver Nuggets has likely knocked them out of playoff contention. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies are eying the bottom slots, while the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Golden State Warriors are looking to hold on.

Good morning, y'all! Today is the debut of the NBA regular season. There are 30 teams reaching for that one prestigious goal: the NBA championship! Out of 30 teams, 12 of the teams have African American head coaches. They are Jason Kidd of the Brooklyn Nets, Mike Brown of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brian Shaw of the Denver Nuggets, Maurice Cheeks of the Detroit Pistons, Mark Jackson of the Golden State Warriors, Doc Rivers of the Los Angeles Clippers, Larry Drew of the Milwaukee Bucks, Monty Williams of the New Orleans Pelicans, Mike Woodson of the New York Knicks, Jacque Vaughn of the Orlando Magic, Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors, and Tyrone Corbin of the Utah Jazz. Only Doc Rivers has a ring when he won the title in 2008 when he coached the Boston Celtics while Jason Kidd is the only coach who won a title as a player when he did it in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks. Brian Shaw finally got a head coaching job that was long overdue. Since he was in the shadow of legendary coach Phil Jackson, he should b ...
Salt City Hoops’ Andy Larson talks Randy Foye to ESPN.com, the Denver Nuggets have finalized a three-team deal that will send Andre Iguodala to the Golden State Warriors in a sign-and-trade for a $9 million trade exception. Additionally, Denver will receive free agent shooting guard Randy Foye from the Utah Jazz, who took back draft picks as well as Richard Jefferson, Andres Biedrins and Brandon Rush — all of whom possess expiring contracts — from the Warriors. From the Nuggets’ standpoint, Foye will bring much-needed outside shooting to Denver, as he ranked seventh last season in the NBA in 3-pointers made with 178 on a 41 percent clip from beyond the arc. But aside from his long-distance shooting prowess, not much else is known about the journeyman combo guard; therefore, RMC reached out to fellow TrueHoop blogger Andy Larson of Salt City Hoops.com to learn more about the newest addition to the Denver Nuggets. 1. Randy Foye started 72 games last season for the Jazz, the most in his seven-year ca ...
Wow!! George Karl and the Nuggets to part ways! VIA ESPN NBA Coach of the Year George Karl has been fired by the Denver Nuggets, Yahoo! Sports is reporting. Karl, who is in the final year of his contract, wanted to extend his deal but the Nuggets balked at the request, Yahoo! Sports reported, citing a league source. The Los Angeles Clippers had engaged initial conversations with the Nuggets about Karl, league sources told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne earlier this week, but had yet to officially request permission to speak with him. Karl was named the NBA's top coach after leading the Nuggets to a 57-win season. The Nuggets were the third seed in the Western Conference but were ousted in the first round by the Golden State Warriors.

Denver Nuggets coach George Karl faced his son, Los Angeles Lakers guard Coby Karl, in 2007-08 and again in the playoffs that season. Mike Dunleavy Sr. was coaching the Clippers in 2003 when they faced his son, Mike Jr., and the Golden State Warriors. In 1976, Jan van Breda Kolff played for the Nets against his father, Butch von Breda Kolff, and the New Orleans Jazz. -admin agustine
Here are today's Must-See Matchups: -Indiana Pacers at Brooklyn Nets- Two of the better teams in the East go head-to-head in a few minutes. Paul George has been very impressive this season, while Olympian Deron Williams has played like all Olympians should. -Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets- The duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will matchup with Ty Lawson and Andre Igoudala. The bench will be important for the Warriors, and the frontcourt will be vital for the Nuggets. -OKC Thunder at Portland Trail Blazers- Rookie sensation Damian Lillard will be against elite guard Russel Westbrook. Both teams are well-rounded offensively and defensively, which should make this game interesting. -Jordan23
Ok guys yesterday i told you i would post the (SSS) of the three games that i didnt do today. Kobe had an amazing game with 40 points to help beat the Nuggets. NOTABLE: Bryant's streak of 30-plus scoring games marks the third time in his career he has had such a streak. Michael Jordan and Bryant are the only players in NBA history to do so. Bryant's longest streak of consecutive 30-point games is 16 games, set Jan. 29-Feb. 28, 2003. ... Ty Lawson had 17 points, 14 assists and no turnovers. He is the first Nuggets to have at least 14 assists and no turnovers since Nick Van Exel did it on Jan. 24, 2002. D. Howard was averaging 4-9 from the free throw line. Here are the infos: _ [Lakers 114 - 126 Nuggets] ■Los Angeles Lakers (14-15) _K. Bryant - 40 points / 6 assists / 4 rebounds _P. Gasol - 19 points / 5 assists / 6 rebounds ■Denver Nuggets (16-14) _C.
