The NBA’s All-Defensive teams were announced on Monday, and no Golden State Warrior received a vote. Pretty standard, especially for a Warriors team that ranked only 14th in defensive efficiency during the regular season, a squad whose best defender (Andrew Bogut) has first team potential, but struggled throughout the regular season with ankle woes. In his never-ending quest to motivate his young club, Mark Jackson offered up the sort of “us against the world”-technique that has worked so well for him this season. Here’s his response, as quoted by Rusty Simmons at SF Gate:   “Get in line,” Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said before his team flew from the Bay Area to San Antonio for Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals. “Our executive finished in seventh place. Steph Curry was home during All-Star week. Joe Lacob is probably the No. 7 owner in the league. Harrison Barnes didn’t get any Rookie of the Year votes. He shouldn’t have been the Rookie of the Year, but he should be Firs ...

Bay Area bliss: Who has it better than the Bay Area? The 49ers are in the Super Bowl, Stanford won the Rose Bowl, the Giants won the World Series, the Oakland A's pulled a comeback to catch the Rangers for the AL West title, and the Golden State Warriors are back in contention in the NBA (no need to mention the Raiders).
Two teams moving in opposite directions...literally: :-) 7. Golden State Warriors (25-15, previous ranking: seventh): The Warriors ended a skid in which they lost five of six games with victories against New Orleans and the Clippers. Golden State took the season series 3-1 against the Pacific Division-leading Clippers. 22. Sacramento Kings (16-26, previous ranking: 23rd): After the Kings depart to Seattle, the Warriors will own Northern California and more as they will be shown on television from Fresno through the Bay Area through Sacramento and all the way up to Lake Tahoe, Nev., next season.
After Giants Win Title, Niners Getting Their Shot by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS January 21, 2013 San Francisco (AP) — When Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith drove in the Giants' victory parade last fall, players on San Francisco's championship baseball team hoped they might be able to return the favor if the 49ers could win it all a few months later. Now, the Giants might just get that very chance with the NFC champion Niners headed to New Orleans to face the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3. Titletown USA very well could be moving out West — and soon. "For sure!" Giants general manager Brian Sabean said Sunday night. San Francisco is trying to become the first market to win a World Series and Super Bowl in the same season since the Boston Red Sox accomplished it in 2004 and the New England Patriots followed suit in February 2005. What's more, even the NBA's Golden State Warriors are giving Bay Area fans an awful lot to cheer and hopes of a playoff season. The 49ers beat Atlanta and made it this far w ...

Gotta admire the efficiency and courtesy of the Bay Area's dominant pro sports franchises: the Giants put a tidy finish to the World Series on Sunday so the 49ers could have Monday Night Football all to themselves. Now, when the Golden State Warriors move across the Bay to SF, all three major sports can work around each other in pursuing National Championships.

OAKLAND -- San Francisco has stepped up its campaign to lure the Golden State Warriors, potentially complicating Oakland's effort to turn the Coliseum area into a sports and entertainment megaplex with new facilities for its three professional teams. In a Friday meeting with team owner Joe Lacob, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee presented a letter signed by city supervisors, business leaders and state representatives, pitching the San Francisco waterfront as a "spectacular opportunity for a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility." The Warriors, who moved from San Francisco to Oakland in 1971, had previously considered a proposed arena site near AT&T Park, but now are reported to be interested in financing an arena on piers adjacent to the Bay Bridge. A return to San Francisco would place the team closer to major Bay Area corporations that could afford high-priced luxury suites.
