Wouldn't it be odd, if "another state," (or other global entity) desperate to get in on the 'soft-power' edge that influences global affairs decided to be instrumental in offering a free alternative to an internet dominated by gated paid-subscriptions services? Could China or Russia be the 'shining beacon' of 'free' speech? Could some 'Al Jazeera Net,' offer a global 'free flow' of information network as the salvation for a Middle East facing economic collapse due to depletion of its reserves or unable to compete against renewable alternatives? Lest we forget, a large part of the value of 'Big Data' comes from being able to analyze the behavior patterns of what society gives away freely.

Ms.Josephson, my 2nd grade teacher also introduced us to global affairs and people, without stereotyping the curriculum. This curriculum was new in the 1950's. One afternoon we were visited by a woman who had been in a WWII concentration camp, I vividly remember the numbered tattoo on her arm. Frequently, we spoke conversational French. There was a large scenic poster of Norway on the wall. Today, we would label these character and global education. My hope is that each child has such a memorable teacher and experiences. It is a shame that we have to regulate and standardize so much of the curriculum.

![]() In the midst of a nationwide election campaign in which many politicians trumpet their support for the buildup and employment of U.S. military power around the world, the American public’s disagreement with such measures is quite remarkable. Indeed, many signs point to the fact that most Americans want to avoid new wars, reduce military spending, and support international cooperation. The latest evidence along these lines is a nationwide opinion survey just released as a report (Foreign Policy in the New Millennium) by the highly-respected Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Conducted in late May and early June 2012, the survey resulted in some striking findings. One is that most Americans are quite disillusioned with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars of the past decade. Asked about these conflicts, 67 percent of respondents said they had not been worth fighting. Indeed, 69 percent said that, despite the war in Afghanistan, the United States was no safer from terrorism. Naturally, these attitudes about milit ...

She also serves on the board of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the corporate Foreign Policy outfit to which her husband dutifully reported, each year, in his pucker-up to the presidency. While addressing staff of the US Embassy in Abuja on Friday, Clinton said that though the visit was short, it was an important one that shows the “vital relationship” between the two countries which the Embassy staff help to nurture. Her visit to Nigeria was still doubtful when her office released her travel plan without Nigeria included though there had been expectations that Nigeria was part of the original travel plan but was omitted at the last minute. Sources at US State Department at Washington DC and US Embassy in Abuja told LEADERSHIP that Clinton was billed to visit Nigeria last Thursday but the absence of President Goodluck Jonathan, who was then visiting ...

![]() my view is that it is a breach of government protocol and international diplomacy. The Secretary of State is, at best, a common/normal government official and ought to be treated as such and obviously be met by her counterpart in Nigeria. I don't have anything against her meeting Mr. President, in private, but there ought to have been a public forum where it would be obvious to the world that she met the Foreign Affairs Minister or SGF, as the case may be. That is my point. I think its high time we begin to 'respect' ourselves in global affairs. South Africa leads Africa today, not necessarily because it contributes more troops to peace keeping efforts across Africa than Nigeria but because of its doggedness, sound Foreign Policy and finesse in government protocol. I've had to deal with Nigeria's civil service personnel and believe me, majority of them are 'uncultured'. . . Please note, I said majority, not all of them.

![]() There is nothing more important for you to hear, than to daily hear what the Spirit of the God who is living and active in all global affairs wants to speak to you. To adequately hear His voice, you must set aside time alone with Him in quietness, where it’s you and God alone. God speaks in a voice that is still, like the waters of a calm lake, and small so that it fits inside your heart. The reason why political leadership in our country is helter skelter, as The Beatles sang, is because most politicians neither value God, or His voice. Yet, if you want to live following the eyes of The One who sees everything ,develop a daily time in a quiet place where you stop to hear what God wants to tell you, and try to do this daily.

All this has really only happened in the last 10-15 years. It's pretty significant, it shows that the "inter-state" model is being replaced by a more "global" way of trying to understand world happenings...def something to think about this morning as you sip on your coffee and bite into your breakfast burritos! lol

He vigourously campaigned with Rawlings and their NDC won the election. Thus, he became President Rawlings' Vice President from 1997 to 2000. During that period, he was the chairperson of the government's Economic Management Committee. Rawlings handpicked Mills as his successor for the 2000 presidential election but he lost to the NPP's Mr Kufuor due mainly to majority of Ghanaians' desire for change after 11 years rule of the Provisional National Defence Council military regime and eight years of the NDC administration. In 2002, Prof. Mills was a visiting scholar at the Liu Centre for the Study of Global Affairs, University of British Columbia, Canada. Elected the NDC's standard-bearer, he contested the 2004 presidential election and again lost to Preside ...

He pulled his friend back with a strong jerk, asking "are u so blind that u don't see the bus?" The friend said "there is no bus." [ Truth is not based on personal perception (subjectivism) but upon universal reality (objectivism). Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (Jn 8:31+32) Then He said : "I am the TRUTH" (Jn. 14:6). Punchline : It does not matter what we think of something, evidence determines Truth. U whip out a measuring tape and see which man was tallest in the village. Likewise you research the overwhelming effect of Jesus Christ and His Word on the world and we see Him in all global affairs and in lives being transformed everywhere. [The law of Non-Contradiction states that 2 opposing claims cannot both be true]. Its either the bus or its yo ...

![]() Monsanto Company recently announced a $50 million commitment to "help" (destroy) African Agricultural Development at the G8 Summit on Global Agriculture And Food Security, hosted by The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. How can a company that produces genetically modified seeds (that cannot be replanted) for both small and large scale farming be a sustainable solution to food crisis? This seeds have been genetically altered from their natural form to make unnatural, and is not save for human consumption. To elaborate further, below is an informative article written by James Donahue titled "Monsanto’s Evil Plot To Control World Seeds". Please read and increase your awareness: Since the first commercial cultivation of genetically modified farm crops in 1996, the use of plants modified for tolerant to herbicides and insecticides has grown until it dominates the agricultural seed market. This is especially true for soybean, corn, canola and cotton among other ...
![]() Hey everyone, let's support this very cool initiative, and even help shape it. How refreshing that in our current "government" by dictatorship of private vested interests, the Greens are coming up with something genuinely alternative to offer NZ and the World. An original, principled, wise and creative outlook is just what we need to replace the weird, dated and dangerous "Foreign Affairs" concept we presently have. Hope to see you there. Green MP Dr Kennedy Graham. would like to invite you and your colleagues to the launch of the Green’s Global Affairs tour. The tour begins at the University of Canterbury, on Friday 25 May, in Laws 108 at 6pm. This event is open to the public so feel free to invite anyone else who might be interested. The Global Affairs tour is about the Green Party relooking at its Foreign Policy. It may be of interest to those involved in peace, human rights, sustainability, disarmament, aid and development groups, or those who just have an interest in how New Zealand relates to t ...

![]() Leaders from around the world are gathering in Chicago this spring for an important diplomatic summit hosted by President Barack Obama. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will hold meetings in Chicago from May 20-21, allowing the city to highlight its economic vitality, its arts and architecture, and its can-do spirit. This will be the first time an American city other than Washington has hosted a NATO summit. About 2,000 journalists from across the world are expected in Chicago to chronicle the events. While the summit itself will be closed to the public, the Chicago NATO Host Committee is making plans for a variety of programs to inform our community about this historic event. Through our partners such as The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, World Sport Chicago, and Illinois Restaurant Association, the Host Committee has organized lectures on Foreign Affairs, contests for students, special dining programs, and much more.
