The man, as yet unidentified, was found carrying copies of a dissenting opinion from Roe v. Doctors have not yet determined how the gentleman entered the woman's *** but said that he was "inexplicably certain that he had a right to be there."

Dr. Laurence B. Brown. a graduate from two Ivy League universities with subspecialty training in ophthalmology, Dr. Brown served as a respected ophthalmologist in the U.S. Air Force. Laurence Brown received his B.A. from Cornell University, his MD from Brown University Medical School, and his ophthalmology residency training at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr Brown was am atheist trying very hard to be a christian and finally ended up to be a practicing Muslim. The prayer that changed Dr Brown was... "Oh, God, if you are there . . ." I promised that if God existed, and if He saved my daughter and then guided me to the religion most pleasing to Him, that I would follow.
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1981 – President Ronald Reagan is shot in the chest outside a Washington, D.C., hotel by John Hinckley, Jr. The president was shot in the left lung, and the .22 caliber bullet just missed his heart. In an impressive feat for a 70-year-old man with a collapsed lung, he walked into George Washington University Hospital under his own power. As he was treated and prepared for surgery, he was in good spirits and joked to his wife, Nancy, ''Honey, I forgot to duck,'' and to his surgeons, "Please tell me you're Republicans." The doctors and nurses laughed, and one surgeon, a liberal Democrat, replied, "Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans."

Dr. Laurence Brown Revert Story: Ophthalmic Surgeon, Expert on Comparative Religion, Author, and a former Christian. In 1990, I was in the last year of my ophthalmology residency at George Washington University hospital in Washington, DC. My second daughter was born October tenth. To my great dismay, she was a dusky, gunmetal blue from the chest to the toes. Her body was not getting enough blood, and the cause was found to be a coarctation of the aorta — a critical narrowing in the major artery from the heart. Needless to say, I was shattered. Being a doctor, I understood she needed emergency surgery, with a poor chance of long-term survival. A consultant pediatric cardio-thoracic surgeon was called from across town, and I left him in the neonatal intensive care unit to examine my daughter. With no companion but my fears, I went to the hospital prayer room and fell to my knees. A product of Christian-American heritage dating back to 1677, nonetheless this was the first time that I even partially recogni ...

So much sadness. By beloved husband Harry died Tuesday afternoon. He had a catastrophic fall in our house on Monday. Massive brain trauma. Neurosurgeons at The George Washington University Hospital could do nothing for him. They took him to the ICU. At 8:00 pm I told the doctors to remove the breathing tune. He was able to breath on his own and his heart was still beating on its own. Tuesday afternoon he started to decline. He died at 2:36 cradled in my arms. I am heartbroken.
Edgar F. Beall At sixty (days) after the sun’s turnings [i.e. the solstice], when Zeus finishes up winter days, well right then the star Arcturus, abandoning the lively stream of Oceanus, rises at twilight and first shines; and after him the rightly-wailing [or: wailing before-dawn] daughter of Pandion, the swallow, rises to light for humans, just at the onset of spring. Prune your vines ahead of her, for this is better. Hesiod, Works and Days 564-570 (as interpreted by E.F. Beall) Edgar F. Beall, also known as E.F. Beall, died on January 21, 2014 of natural causes. He was born in Colton, California on January 2, 1934 (or as he liked to say, 1, 2, 3, 4.) He spent much of his childhood in Quincy, California before attending the University of California at Berkeley. After earning a Ph.D. in Physics at Cal, he taught for several years at the University of Maryland. He soon became a leader in the anti-war movement there, developing what would become a life-long devotion to challenging authority. His pas ...

Why I'm for the Brady Bill By Ronald Reagan March 29, 1991 "Anniversary" is a word we usually associate with happy events that we like to remember: birthdays, weddings, the first job. March 30, however, marks an anniversary I would just as soon forget, but cannot. It was on that day 10 years ago that a deranged young man standing among reporters and photographers shot a policeman, a Secret Service agent, my press secretary and me on a Washington sidewalk. I was lucky. The bullet that hit me bounced off a rib and lodged in my lung, an inch from my heart. It was a very close call. Twice they could not find my pulse. But the bullet's missing my heart, the skill of the doctors and nurses at George Washington University Hospital and the steadfast support of my wife, Nancy, saved my life. Jim Brady, my press secretary, who was standing next to me, wasn't as lucky. A bullet entered the left side of his forehead, near his eye, and passed through the right side of his brain before it exited. The skills of the Geor ...

Lord God our Healer! As I read an article in the Albany Herald about an elected official's bout with cancer, I found the article very informative. You can be eclected locally for a national position, serve locally, but receive medical treatment at a national level at the Capitol! “During this process, thanks to great cooperation among my medical team at the Attending Physician’s Office at the Capitol, the George Washington University Hospital medical team in Washington, and our great Congressional staff, this was accomplished without my having to miss a single vote or major event during this phase of my treatment,” he said. Wake up America, the elected leaders do not care about you! They court you long enough to get your votes but once elected they really are no longer connected to you. They will tell you we're in this together. They will say I'm here for you. But at the end of the day, they're really not. They live by different standards and a totally different set of rules than the ones you and I ...
His constituents haven’t seen him in four months. His staff insists he is too depressed for public appearances. But The Daily found Jesse Jackson Jr. smoking a cigar on the stoop of his $1.3 million home yesterday, the same day he was accused of bilking his campaign funds and drinking away his nights with women who aren’t his wife. In his first interview since taking a leave of absence in early June, the Illinois congressman — sitting with his father, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson Sr. — talked about his health and how he is spending his time with Election Day less than a month away and his job on the line. In late summer, Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson announced that her husband had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was being treated at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Jackson told The Daily that he is “not well” and has doctor’s appointments twice a day at George Washington University Hospital, not far from his home in the trendy DuPont Circle neighborhood: “I ...

Senator Reid has been released from the hospital and is back at home with his wife, Landra. As previously stated, he went to the hospital as a precaution. The doctors diagnosed him as exhausted, not anything more serious, and have cleared him to go back to work. He spent today resting, talking to family, friends and colleagues, reading the news and discussing Senate business. He appreciates the kind words and thoughts sent by so many, thanks the doctors at George Washington University Hospital for the excellent care he received, and wishes everyone a Happy Holidays.
“Getting shot hurts.” Ronald Reagan wrote in his diary on April 11, 1981, two weeks after a bullet from the gun of would-be assassin, John Hinckley, Jr. pierced his left lung missing his heart by less than one inch. 69 days into his first term as President, this near-death incident allowed President Reagan to display one of the greatest examples of God-like forgiveness I have ever stumbled upon. Immediately following the shooting, the headlines wrote of his sense of humor in the midst of a tragedy. For example, while waiting for surgery, Reagan joked to the doctors, “I hope you are all Republicans.” And to his wife, Nancy he said, “Honey, I forgot to duck.” Both of these quotes were funny and obviously needed to be reported. But for me, the greatest story that came from the shooting never made the national news. It took place when President Reagan was all by himself. Struggling to breathe, while lying on his back in the George Washington University Hospital, the former President stared ...

With the Washington region experiencing serious cold weather, GW Hospital reminds Washingtonians to take extra precautions in extreme weather. Please take a moment to review these important life safety tips. Washington, DC (January 23) -- With the Washington region in the grips of an arctic blast and combined with reports of snow on Friday, this weather can pose unfavorable conditions, as well as serious health and safety threats. George Washington University Hospital experts caution that as temperatures dip, it is important to take warnings seriously and be careful while outdoors. “We usually see a number of patients with cold-related problems during these spells,” said Robert Shesser, MD, Professor, Emergency Medicine, and Chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine at The George Washington University Hospital. “This is particularly true on the days after rain or small amounts of snow when conditions in the early morning are very treacherous.” To ensure a healthy and safe winter season, Shesser . ...
