Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, George Romero, Dario Argento, these names will forever be associated with the horror movie genre because these directors made some of the most popular and influential horror films in history. The directors we will talk about today can be categorized in two kinds: One is those who dedicated their career making horror films but did’t receive enough recognition, the other is those who made not only horror films, but movies in other genres. But they have one thing in common, they each made at least two horror movies that became classics today. Alright people rant of the day: movies made from books. The fact that this happens leads me to believe movie producers and directors have run out of Original ideas. Don't even get me started on twilight (those are not my definition of vampires they aren't Emo romantics) the hunger games (story seems recycled from another book I read ages ago, and I don't see what's so special about Jennifer Lawrence anyways). World War Z, I like Brad Pitt he has good movies, Fight Club, Inglorious Basterds, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc. The only reason I saw WWZ was the zombies and they weren't zombies, the only zombies I can tolerate anymore is George Romero and The Walking Dead, now those are zombies. End of rant.

My Film Appreciation students have to watch 41 movies ranging from 1878-2010 for analysis and discussion including but not limited to: Svengali (1931), Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), George Romero's Knightriders (1981), Revenge of the Nerds (1984) and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008). Yes, I have some "real quality" cinema like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, North by Northwest, Taxi Driver and Reservoir Dogs. I like to throw in some films who often get no respect - Cannibal Holocaust, Summer School, Whip It! ... Um, Whip It!? How'd that get in there? Fun films that have great supposition and historical relevance. Other films include: Several Three Stooges shorts, Frankenstein (1932), The Kid (1921), Freaks, (1932), Apocalypse Now Redux (1979), Boyz in the Hood (1991) and others. I'd enjoy this class. Too much?

It’s George Romero meets Rankin/Bass as Barbra Cooper heads home fro...
January 2014 looks like a good month for comic books- Serenity: Leaves on the Wind. If you liked the Firefly series and Serenity movie, give the comics a try. Also in January: Empire of the Dead, written by George Romero. Last but not least, Miracleman is back! Written by Alan Moore.

On this day in '99, angering many for what is seen as liberties taken with Catholic theology, "Dogma" starring Linda Fiorentino and Salma Hayek, opened in the United States. And on this day in '82, George Romero's "Creepshow" was released in United States theaters. The anthology film was written by Stephen King and was featured in the episode "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill." Adrienne Barbeau was featured in "The Crate" and Ed Harris was featured in "Father's Day." Two sequels also followed.
Tonight I'm seeing George Romero talk at the BFI, Gravity at Imax, Giorgio Moroder DJ, Girls at Vogue Fabrics then collapsing in a heap.
I love horror. I love 'The Shining,' 'Friday the 13th,' 'Halloween,' all those kinds of things. I love zombies, especially '28 Days Later' and '28 Weeks Later,' where the zombies are going faster than the George Romero ones. I love being scared; there's something that's awesome about your heart rate going up like that. Ricky Schroder Happy halloween!
Cool people I've seen today: Dee Snider, George Romero, Danielle Harris, Doug Bradley, Bill Moseley and Kane Hodder.
LIKE A MOVIE STAR Speedoggie trick training workshop Saturday October 26th 10-Noon. Limited to 6 participants $75 A fun workshop that will introduce you to the methods used to train many animal actors while teaching your dog some fun tricks. Ever watch a dog in a movie and ask yourself, ‘how did they do that?’, find out how, and how the same methods can make your training time fun and exciting for you and your dog. Animal actors have to be able to perform all kinds of novel behaviors, often with very little training time. Learning what is required of animal actors and how to train like a theatrical animal trainer can expand your current training program no matter what facet of animal training you are involved in. Frankie Joiris started training animal actors in 1981. Her experience ranges from a paraplegic attacking parakeet (Monkey Shines, 1988, George Romero) to garbage eating rats (NYC Department of Sanitation ad, 2006) as well as extensive work with dogs, cats and farm animals on film. Her tel ...

Watching warm bodies, seems like the makers of the walking dead and George Romero only know what the point of a zombie is.

Night of the Living Dead Redux 437 (Does it really need another remake? Poor George Romero) …
I always liked the part in 'Dawn of the Dead' where George Romero states that the only thing the dead remember to do is shop.Hm
George Romero needs them for 'Night of The Taxi rate 3' now that's horror!
By some devilish coincidence our event is directly followed by George Romero's CREEPSHOW in Screen 1. Ghoulish double-bill?
Listening to a 45 minute interview with George Romero as a back up in case this Hitchcock quote doesn't work.

Awesome choices, though I've not seen the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake, only the original. George Romero rules!
George Romero was initially offered a chance to produce this film, but he never returned any of the phone calls -
Sooner or later George Romero will run out of film titles that he'll have to use
Today was the FIRST RELEASE of DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) - we love you George Romero!
Remember when looked less like a Harry Potter film and more like a dystopian George Romero zombie flick?
I kind of pulled a George Romero, like he did with his BRILLIANT unused "Resident Evil" screenplay, I took liberties, but remained faithful.
I'd use the simple fact that Zach Braff is not George Romero as a counter to any of your points.
THERE'S A ZOMBIE-LIKE SECURITY FLAW IN ALMOST EVERY ANDROID PHONE:- Almost every Android phone has a big, gaping security weakness, according to the security startup who discovered the vulnerability. Essentially, according to BlueBox, almost every Android phone made in the past four years (or, since Android "Donut," version 1.6) is just a few steps away from becoming a virtual George Romero film, thanks to a weakness that can "turn any legitimate application into a malicious Trojan." While news of a security vulnerability in Android might not exactly be surprising to users, the scope of the vulnerability does give one pause: "99 percent" of Android mobiles, or just under 900 million phones, are potentially vulnerable, according to the company. All hackers have to do to get in is modify an existing, legitimate app, which they're apparently able to do without breaking the application's security signature. Then, distribute the app and convince users to install it. Google, who hasn't commented on the vulnerab ...
Out of the following icons - Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper and George Romero - which one do you think has left the most impactful legacy on the horror genre?
Well guys, it's time. Come take part of what is going to be an AMAZING show! Based on the classic film by George Romero and John Russo Directed By Devon Nuckles & Ginger Workman * Auditions will be held at Kanawha Players Theater 309 Beauregard St. Charleston, WV 25301 Phone 27th, 28th, 29th 5PM-7PM Script will be provided for a cold reading. WE WILL NEED ZOMBIES!!!
Took my son and his friend to see "World War Z". A cool, high tech entry into to the zombie genre, which I'm a huge fan of. It's about as non-George Romero (Romero doesn't do running zombies, etc) as you could possibly get being an action, rather than a horror film. Certainly not a classic but Pitt and director Marc Forster ("Crash") give it all they got and there are some great scenes.
