Another 3 million cars are being recalled by General Motors in an effort to avoid the same types of ignition switch problems blamed for over a dozen deaths. The problem is that the ignition switch could be accidentally bumped out of the "run" position. GM says the solution is a simple ignition key modification. President Obama says he won't apologize for the prisoner exchange to recover Sgt. President Obama is proud of his bailout of General Motors. That’s good, because, if he wins a second term, he is probably going to have to bail GM out again. The company is once again losing market share, and it seems unable to develop products that are truly competitive in the U.S. market.Right now, the federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It would need to get about $53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday. This left the government holding $10.1 billion worth of stock, and sitting on an unrealized loss of $16.4 billion.Right now, the government’s GM stock is worth about 39% less than it was on November 17, 2010, when the company went public at $33.00/share. However, during the intervening time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by almost 20%, so GM shares have lost 49% of their value relative to the Dow. Here Donna Ardoin. Obama !!! Lol

So, here's a Big News item that is worthy of sharing: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are making the final repayment to the US government of the huge bailout they received during the height of the Great Recession in 2009. Here's the great part: They are including in their final payment about SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS in interest, making that portion of the bailout a very profitable deal for taxpayers. Likewise, General Motors paid back everything they borrowed - similarly with plenty of interested added to the payback. Same thing for many large banks that were helped out during the national crisis. So, let's see.that would mean that President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress of early 2009 were both courageous and got it right about not letting these major financial institutions go down the tubes like so many fear-frozen naysayers wanted at the time. "Let the financial process take its course", they said, wanting the economy to just crash and burn, with no thought to the long-term hardship that would ha ...
On President Obama’s State of the Union last night, Vice President Joe Biden kept glancing up from his comic book and Speaker of the House John Boehner looked like he badly needed another drink. Boehner didn’t applaud much, because when he tried to he couldn’t find his hands. Maybe if he hadn’t looked at them while clapping. In his speech President Obama praised the first woman CEO of General Motors Mary Barra, but failed to mention all the jobs General Motors has off-shored to other countries and the wage cuts and stolen pensions of the workers. He talked about bringing our jobs home, but failed to mention the trade pacts he has signed which have sent those jobs overseas. He talked about extracting natural gas “safely”, but I haven’t seen any movement in that direction, unless you call the earthquakes fracking causes movement. He spent about five seconds on climate change, that it is “real”, which gave Boehner more opportunity to chew his cud and not applaud. He called for raising the m ...
The President gave the State of the Union address last night. It was pretty typical, no big surprises. The President made some suggestions. Prodded Congress to actually do something. He pointed out some success stories including the President of General Motors and Speaker Boehner and himself, for overcoming obstacles on their road to success. We all know we have been treading water since President Obama was elected and then re-elected. We also know that everything that is wrong with America is President Obama's fault. So I just don't understand why Congress won't pass the Immigration bill, the Transportation bill, the Farm bill and all the other things backed up in the House. What are they afraid of? If everything fails, it will be the President's fault like everything else and they will be re-elected. If nothing changes, chances are they will be re-elected. Are they afraid the President's plans will work? Wouldn't that be a good thing for America? I suppose if Congress passed all those bills and the e ...
I no longer own General Motors. Neither do you. A couple of hours ago, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced that the U.S. government has sold off its final shares of General Motors stock. For the future of the planet, this is terrible news. In 2009, with GM about to go under (thanks to decades of stupidity and greed), President Obama stepped in and offered a bailout deal -- he would save the company as long as we-the-people could own a majority of it. GM said yes and the taxpayers suddenly owned 60% of GM! The first thing the president did was fire the chairman and CEO of GM (and, speaking on behalf of my fellow Michiganders, that felt really good). Once in the driver's seat, Mr. Obama had a golden opportunity not just to save hundreds of thousands of jobs but to steer GM away from the internal combustion engine (a.k.a. Killer of Planet Earth) and create a 21st century transportation company. At the time, I suggested the president should transition GM from the building of cars that the majority of Americ ...
Most of America’s media think President Obama's 2009 bailout of General Motors and Chrysler was a huge success. In his tireless campaign to curtail Americans’ civil rights — the right to keep and bear arms is a civil right — President Obama resorted to the old “if it saves one life” standard: “If there’s just one life we can save, we’ve got an obligation to try.” The administration in truth holds itself to no such standard. There currently is under way a very dumb debate about requiring automakers to install rearview cameras in all new cars. About 200 Americans, about half of them small children, die annually in back-over accidents. Parents of children who have died in that fashion have been leading a campaign to mandate cameras, and the makers of those devices are not opposed to making their purchase obligatory. The problem for the Obama administration is that the White House is still in the car business. The Obama administration is the proud owner of 241 million shares of General Motors stock, and the United Auto Workers union is the proud owner of the Obama administration. The president’s all ...
Obama: 57 Vacation Days Since Vowing He 'Will Not Rest Until Anyone' Can Find A GOOD Job February 12, 2013 Unemployment still stands at 7.9 percent, actually higher than when he took office in 2009. - By Dan Gainor Subscribe to RSS 902 158 It's time for the State of the Union address, which means the president is pivoting back to jobs once more. It's an annual game where President Obama pretends to be focused on employment and many in the media pretend to believe him. Back in 2009, the president promised never to "rest" until the job situation was fixed. Nearly four years later, he's done a lot of resting. According to The Weekly Standard, Pres. Obama has had 83 vacation days overall and Factcheck.org says he took 26 of those in 2009. That means the president has taken at least 57 vacation days since his vow not to "rest." On Sept. 15, 2009, Obama spoke to General Motors plant employees in Warren, Ohio, about the "economic crisis." That's when the president made his promise. "But I want you all to know, I ...

To all the Obama supporters chanting 4 MORE YEARS, 4 MORE YEARS. Well, as Jeff Foxworthy would say, Here's your sign. Hours after Obama wins re-election, Dow takes biggest dive of year dropping 313 points, logging its worst daily decline since November 2011. The most disturbing issue of the election was how President Obama managed to win re-election in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania and Michigan by talking about the highly unpopular bailout of General Motors. By taking billions of dollars in hard-earned money from taxpayers during a deep recession and giving it to a couple of huge companies. This is the Achilles heel of a democracy. Politicians simply tax those who do not support them and give the money to those who do. Or give the money to those they would like to have support them.
Today I voted for President Obama. And here's why: President Obama signed the LillyLedbetter Fair Pay Act. President Obama signed the Healthcare Reform Act. President Obama also did away with pre-existing conditions. President Obama gave people cash for clunkers to buy American cars. President Obama saved General Motors. President Obama has protected a woman's right to choose. President Obama imposed new rules on credit card companies that spared consumers from sudden interest rate hikes. President Obama gave the FDA the right to regulate tobacco and decrease nicotine in cigarettes. President Obama passed the hate crimes bill making it a federal crime to make an assault based on sexual orientation. President Obama extended government-sponsored health insurance for about 4-million uninsured children. President Obama ended federal subsidies to banks and private lenders that offered government-backed college loans. President Obama signed the Serve America Act helping veterans find jobs after service. Preside ...

Here's a little synosis of one of the things Obama is proudest of doing in his first term Wasting $23 billion of taxpayer's money to send to the UAW. From the Heritage Foundation: The U.S. government will lose about $23 billion on the 2008-2009 bailout of General Motors and Chrysler. President Obama emphatically defends his decision to subsidize the automakers, arguing it was necessary to prevent massive job losses. But, even accepting this premise, the government could have executed the bailout with no net cost to taxpayers. It could have—had the Administration required the United Auto Workers (UAW) to accept standard bankruptcy concessions instead of granting the union preferential treatment. The extra UAW subsidies cost $26.5 billion—more than the entire foreign aid budget in 2011. The Administration did not need to lose money to keep GM and Chrysler operating. The Detroit auto bailout was, in fact, a UAW bailout.
Do you think Tagg Romney would like to slug Greg Martin of General Motors and CEO Sergio Marchionne (Chrysler)?, for calling his father Mitt a liar or maybe I should use a more gentle word, like refuted, but then, what the *** it's all the same, he was flat out LYING! He certainly wanted to slug President Obama for calling his day a liar, now what could be the difference?
November 18th, 2008 republican romney : " IF General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American Automotive Industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed ". May 7th, 2012 republican romney: " I'll take a lot of credit' for Auto Industry success " " I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry's come back," Romney told WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. October 31, 2012 republican romney: In a radio ad running in Ohio, the Romney campaign leveled this attack at President Obama: " Barack Obama says he saved the Auto Industry. But for who? Ohio or China? Under President Obama, GM cut 15,000 American jobs, but they are planning to double the number of cars built in China, which means 15,000 more jobs for China. And now comes word that Chrysler is planning to build cars in, you guessed it, China." A line was added to the Bloomberg story after it was published stating that Mike Manley, chief o ...
The LIE ... by Bill Stewart With the election next week I am giving some thoughts for consideration. I am a former Democrat from a family of Democrats. I believe the most important character trait of a president is honesty, integrity and a belief in the principles of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States. Last week David Letterman made this statement "...you want your President to be telling the truth and you want the contender to be lying. And so what we found today or soon after that, in fact, the President Obama was not telling the truth about what was exerpted from that op-ed piece, I felt discouraged". He was referring to what Obama said in the final debate, and has repeatedely said and continues to say on the campaign tour regarding Romneys position on the bankruptcy for General Motors. Obama implies that with Romney's plan General Motors would have gone out of business and Obama saved GM. Our capatalistic system provides for reorganizational or "managed" bankruptcy without ...
Out of the cradle endlessly lying. It should come as no surprise that the Romney campaign is waging a deceitful campaign by running false ads that Chrysler and General Motors are shipping American jobs to China. The very first ad that team Romney put on the air was one in which which he quotes President Obama out of context. The ad uses a sound bite from Obama's 2008 campaign: "If we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose."The only problem with this apparently damning clip: Obama was quoting his Republican opponent John Mccain at the time. Politifact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking Web site, rated the advertisement “Pants on Fire,” its most deceptive rating possible.
“…it was Republican policies during the Bush administration that brought on the sickness and Republicans in Congress who have denied the economy an adequate dosage of the cure. Now they want to implicitly blame President Obama for causing the recession and the failure of stimulus to fix the problem, asserting that fiscal stimulus is per se ineffective. Apart from racism, the one thing in Romney’s favor is the state of the economy. But the entirety of his case for how he would turn things around is his libertarian shibboleth that “Washington has become an impediment to growth,” though experience shows the opposite is true. In the midst of the 2008 crash, Senator Obama supported the bailouts of the banks and General Motors. Romney, who had benefited from the bailout of Bain Capital in 1990, opposed the rescue of GM, a wildly successful government action which saved 1.45 million jobs. As the new president, Obama quickly signed The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - a stimulus bill that extend ...
General Motors. An American Company employing American workers. President Obama stood with the company and workers, Bain Capital vulture capitalist Mitt the Stiff Romney would have disbanded the company and tens of thousands of workers would be on the streets, jobless. Undoubtly he would have outsourced these jobs to China who the double talking *** also portrays as our enemy. Which one will it be flip-flop, don't stop, to the bang bang boogie, Robme (Romney).
Thank Obama for auto rescue Detroit News Oct. 25, 2012 Don't assume that it was a no-brainer for a conservative newspaper to endorse a conservative presidential candidate. We recognize and are grateful for the extraordinary contribution President Obama made to Michigan in leading the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler. Had either of those companies been allowed to go under, Michigan's economic maladies would have become fatal. The president stepped up with the support the two automakers needed to keep themselves and their suppliers in business. We have said in past editorials that while Romney rightly advocated for structured bankruptcies in his infamous "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" New York Times op-ed, he was wrong in suggesting the automakers could have found operating capital in the private markets. In that article, Romney suggested government-backed loans to keep the companies afloat post bankruptcy. But what GM and Chrysler needed were bridge loans to get them through the process, and the private cr ...
President Obama brags about saving General Motors by a Government bailout. Obama worked with the United Auto Workers union to take GM through a government bailout and bankruptcy. It is good that GM is still in business but is only again kicking the can down the road. Because of the Union little was done to cut GM's labor coasts. Company executives still have their Company jets. and GM still owes the Government $26.000.000.000. Thousands of people that owned General Motors bonds, lost millions of dollars in their investment. Obama gave $150.000.000 of of Taxpayer money to a Company to make batteries for the Chevy Volt. So far they haven't produced one battery but the company is paying workers $50.00 of taxpayer money an hour to watch movies and play checkers and Monopoly. The Chevy Volt's production has stopped because of low sales. Because GM has not done anything to lower manufacturing costs it will probably go into bankruptcy again in a couple of years.

You are being misinformed. President Obama inherited a vast array of problems, including the worst economy since the Great Depression, a financial crash caused by risky loans and investments and weak regulation, along with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan against terrorists that know no border. He has put us back on track, creating jobs by putting General Motors back to work. Reforms have been enacted to prevent another financial breakdown. He tracked down those who attacked our nation on 9/11. He enacted student loan reform that will make college a reality for millions. His Health Care will improve the lives of millions. These accomplishments are extraordinary when you consider the opposition he faced, especially in Congress. The senate leader has said their number one goal is not to put people back to work but to defeat the president. Voting Republican is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders. Remember the lie about Joe the Plumber. Wake up before you end up in the soup line.
Last Night’s Best Romneyism By DAVID FIRESTONE By now, everyone has a favorite Romneyism from last night's debate. (A Romneyism can be variously defined as an awkward or clueless phrase, a cryptic new policy made up on the fly, or an unaccountable revision of history.) "Binders full of women" was irresistible, as was his notion that two-parent families are a form of gun control. He announced, apparently spontaneously, that he now favors expanding Pell grants, which is curious given he previously opposed President Obama's proposal to do exactly that. Mr. Romney deliberately confused the bankruptcy proceeding for General Motors with the federal bailout of the auto industry, and his spectacular pratfall on what President Obama said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack in Libya will be long remembered. But my favorite was a quieter moment on the subject of taxes, a vital issue given the centrality of economic issues to Mr. Romney's campaign. Mr. Obama had just unleashed a scathing critique of his opp ...
To my many good friends: I am supporting President Obama for re-election. Although some Democrats and Republicans are convinced that they have the will of Deity behind them (they must know more than the Pope and the Chief Rabbi of Israel!), and I would vote for the individual who, I think, would best serve the people regardless of party, one cannot lightly dismiss the parties' platforms. My reasons for endorsing the President are: • He supported General Motors (which is now profitable, employing workers, and repaying its debt to the Government) whereas his opponent stated that it should go down the drain. • He responsibly conducted foreign policy in the best interests of the United States and sought to maintain open communication with Russia, the Arab countries, Israel, and the Viet Nams. He did not pander to any of them nor blow steam despite assertions to the contrary and selection of statements and pictures out of context. • He NEVER disrespected the nation, its flag, or its people!! Allegatio ...
Vice President Joe Biden went into last night’s debate with a heavy burden to revive the hopes and passion of the Democratic base, who were becoming dispirited after a listless performance by President Barack Obama at last week’s debate and the media onslaught and polls that followed. His mission was to aggressively expose the Romney/Ryan platform as full of falsehoods, and get out a series of key talking points: the “47 percent,” the saving of General Motors, the refusal of Congressional Republicans to work with President Obama, and their slavish devotion to an extreme ideology on taxes, abortion, and Grover Norquist. Biden managed to get those points out, in one instance, during a single answer. Asked by the moderator, veteran ABC reporter Martha Raddatz, what the Obama administration would do to get unemployment under 6 percent, and when, the vice president reeled off an exhaustive (and exhausting) bill of particulars: … I don’t know how long it will take. We can and we will get it under 6 ...
General Motors Is Alive Oct 9, 2012 | By ThinkProgress War Room The Rescue of the Auto Industry — By the Numbers At the height of the financial crisis, some people, including Mitt Romney, said we should “let Detroit go bankrupt.” And Bain Capital was one of the many private investors that refused to invest in the auto industry when it stood on the brink of collapse. Fortunately, President Obama saved the U.S. auto industry and now it’s roaring back. For example, just today we learned that General Motors is adding another 2,000 jobs in Michigan. These jobs are coming to Michigan as part of larger effort to insource thousands of jobs at the world’s largest automaker. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s a look at the auto rescue — by the numbers. •More than 1 million: Jobs saved by the auto rescue. •$85 billion: Total spent by the U.S. government on the auto rescue. •$60 billion: Amount the government will likely recover. •$7.2 billion: Savings to taxpayers from reduced unem ...

Plant Built With $150M in Tax $$ Fails to Produce Tuesday, October 09, 2012 President Obama touted it in 2010 as evidence "manufacturing jobs are coming back to the United States," but two years later, a Michigan hybrid battery plant built with $150 million in taxpayer funds is putting workers on furlough before a single battery has been produced. Workers at the Compact Power manufacturing facilities in Holland, Mich., run by LG Chem, have been placed on rotating furloughs, working only three weeks per month based on lack of demand for lithium-ion cells. The facility, which was opened in July 2010 with a groundbreaking attended by Obama, has yet to produce a single battery for the Chevrolet Volt, the troubled electric car from General Motors. The plant's batteries also were intended to be used in Ford's electric Focus. Production of the taxpayer-subsidized Volt has been plagued by work stoppages, and the effect has trickled down to companies and plants that build parts for it -- including the batteries. " ...
This is a long post regarding this election. I hope you will read and comment on it, Feel free to disagree. Why I will vote for President Obama I decided today to examine my opinion of President Obama and why I will vote for him. Friends disagree and I respect that. But let me hear you disagree with any of these reasons for making this decision. Most of you know I love politics so if you disagree let me know why 1. The stock market was at 6500 when he became President in 2008. It is over 13000 today. Remember the 401k jokes? Not anymore. 2. Osama Bin Laden is dead. We let him get away in Tora Bora, not in Pakistan. General Motors and the U.S auto industry is alive and doing well. 3. We are out of an unnecessary war in Iraq and getting out of Afghanistan and achieved our goal of damaging or eliminating Al Qaeda. In addition several Middle East dictators have been thrown out. Will it be better, who knows. But if we believe in democracy they needed to be gone. And no American blood was spilled. 4. Unemployme ...
Willard the Wonderman Hold onto you hats, Willard Romney is now claiming, he saved the auto industry. He says President Obama should not have negotiated a structured loan agreement with the troubled companies prior to bankruptcy filings. Along with the loan a restructuring of the companies and recasting of their agreements with workers, suppliers, and unions was negotiated. Romney’s idea of letting Detroit go bankrupt without the upfront loan would have resulted in an immediate end in vehicle sales. Who would buy a car without dependable factory support? Without the ability to pay workers, they would be let go. The factory would be closed. Romney and his friends would sweep in like buzzards picking bones. They would buy control of the company at fire sale prices, sell off all the assets and machinery, and leave a series of vast rusting hulks around the country where generations of American workers once proudly earned a decent living. General Motors and Chrysler would be gone forever. This is who they ...
So the Democrats are jumping on Gov. Romney for what he said at a PRIVATE fundraiser that was RECORDED SECRETLY and publicized by James Carter IV, the grandson of the president who lead this country through high unemployment, high inflation, and international disgrace. (444 days of Americans of a US Embassy held captive in Iran) Remember, President Obama: Promised to “Change the Character of Washington”, but has created more division than co-operation Wasted nearly a TRILLION DOLLARS ($862 Billion) in the 2010 Stimulus Package to get the American economy on track – Are you any better off then you were then? Our country for the FIRST TIME IN HISTORY has had our credit rating downgraded under his watch. You can't spend more than you take in. Basic economics. Yes, General Motors is still around, but it’s much smaller than it used to be and it’s not the world’s largest automaker anymore. By the way, don’t look for any Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, or Saturns…. they’re history. Chrysler isn’t an ...
Quote of the Year. From Andrea Tantaros on Fox New's, "The Five." Responding to Bob Beckel's incessant and mendacious chant that thanks to President Obama, "General Motors is alive and Osama Bin Laden is dead." Tantaros' retort: "So is Ambassador Stevens."
Here is a list of five lies that Paul Ryan told when he gave his speech at the Republican National Convention. Every single news outlet should report on these lies. 1. Lie: President Obama is the "greatest threat" to Medicare. Truth: Obama didn't make any cuts to Medicare benefits; he made cuts to provider reimbursements, to improve cost efficiency and extend the fiscal security of Medicare by eight years. According to the Medicare actuary, "[Obama's] Affordable Care Act makes important changes to the Medicare program and substantially improves its financial outlook." But Ryan actually does want to cut benefits. He proposed dismantling Medicare and replacing it with a voucher system, leaving millions of seniors to come up with more money to pay for care out of pocket. 2. Lie: President Obama didn't save a General Motors plant in Wisconsin. Truth: First, Obama wasn't even in office when the GM plant closed. Second, Obama never made a promise to save it. 3. Lie: President Obama ignored recommendations of a ...
Osama Bin Laden ALIVE: GM is DEAD! Sure, Bin Laden’s dead. But what he stood for – a weaker America on foreign policy, less American presence on the international stage, a corrupted American economy, a Middle East dominated by Islamists -- is stronger than it was on September 10, 2001. And as Barack Obama continues to kowtow to Islamists across the Middle East, provide flexibility to their supporters in Russia, rely on their funders in China to finance our debt, and slice our military budget, Bin Laden’s lifeforce only grows more vibrant. But what about the second half of the Biden formulation? Even if Bin Laden’s alive, what about General Motors? It’s dead, too. When GM faced bankruptcy, it faced it for one reason: the United Auto Workers had contracts that put GM on the ropes. Instead of allowing GM to go through the normal bankruptcy process, though, President Obama tossed $100 billion at the problem -- $50 billion in straight grants through TARP, a waiver of $45.4 billion in taxes, $360 mil ...
President Obama’s auto bailout is being touted as a great success of his Administration. Speaking in Detroit at a Labor Day rally, Vice President Joe Biden used it to explain how Americans were better off. “Osama Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive,” Biden boasted. In Charlotte, former President Bill Clinton cited the bailout as a manufacturing success story, and former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (D) sang its praises. But taxpayers lost $25 billion. Plants were closed, jobs were lost, and nearly three years later, the government still owns one-third of General Motors. There is a story that President Obama and these others are not telling—the story of the 20,000 workers who lost nearly all of their pensions because the Obama Administration chose not to protect them. Let Freedom Ring released a video highlighting this story.

When asked what President Obama has done while in office, Vice President Joe Biden said "Osama Bin Landen is dead and GM is alive." I was happy that Mr. Biden came up with two positive things, nothing mention about the economy, deficit, gas prices, unemployment, budget or lack of one, U.S. credit rating being downgraded. Yes Bin Landin was killed on Obama watch, but I don't think he was with the Navy Seal team that went into harms way to actually do the task. The President of the U.S. is the Commander in Chief and that was his job to authorize the strike. The information that became available showing Bin Landin's location, that made the strike successful, was received from an intelligent apperatus that was put into place under Presidents Bush and is being slowly dismantled by Obama. Intelligence that was received thru harsh interviews of suspects, interviews that the left felt was unamerican. Harsh interviews that where stopped by President Obama and was replaced by killing the suspects. General Motors wa ...
This is a great article. With Americans, on average, worth less and earning less than when he was inaugurated, President Obama is requesting a second term by promising, or perhaps threatening, that prosperity is just around the corner if he can practice four more years of trickle-down government. This is dubious policy, scattering borrowed money in the hope that this will fill consumers and investors with confidence. But recently Obama revealed remarkable ambitions for it when speaking in Pueblo, Colo., a pleasant place Democratic presidents should avoid. After delivering in Pueblo what would be his last extended speech, Woodrow Wilson suffered a collapse that prefaced his disabling stroke. And in Pueblo this summer, Obama announced what should be a disqualifying aspiration. After a delusional proclamation -- that General Motors "has come roaring back" -- Obama said: "Now I want to do the same thing with manufacturing jobs, not just in the auto industry, but in every industry." We have been warned. Obama' ...
From the WSJ, AUg 31, page A14 Somehow, I find the reflective review of the WSJ more objective than the knee-jerk analysis of MSNBC. I'm not convinced that Ms Cutter knows what a lie is. There is no delicate way to describe ignorance. That one has a live mic in front of her face does not confer accuracy or authority. The Janesville President Paul Ryan quotes Barack Obama from 2008. Democrats are outraged. From their fainting couches, the press corps "fact checkers" and the liberals who love them are having a spell over Paul Ryan's Tampa convention speech. How dare he so much as mention the Wisconsin assembly plant that President Obama promised to keep open but didn't? The claim is that there was nothing the White House could do, because the General Motors facility in Mr. Ryan's hometown of Janesville was already starting to idle production and slated for closure when Mr. Obama took office. Therefore the empty production lines are George W. Bush's fault, like everything else in the last four years. But ...
I am getting so sick and tired of hearing these people at the RNC blaming President Obama for the unemployment rate being above 8%! If the Republicans would vote for the American Jobs Act, there would be lesser unemployed people and the unemployment rate would not be above 8%. They keep saying Romney can "restore" America. This guy and his running mate, Paul Ryan, plan on turning Medicare into a voucher. If that happens, the seniors in America will have to pay thousands of extra dollars for their medicines. They want to terminate programs that are very helpful to the people in the poor and middle class. Romney believes college should be available to only those who can afford it. Thanks to President Obama, college became affordable to everyone! If it was for President Obama, I may not have been able to get into C.T.I.! "Let Detroit go bankrupt". Those were the exact words that came out of Romney's mouth a few months ago. Detroit is the home of General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford. Romney was willing to let t ...
The president’s auto bailout saved the American auto industry and the millions of jobs depending on it throughout the country. General Motors and Chrysler have recovered and have reimbursed the government, and now GM is the No. 1 auto manufacturer again. Mitt Romney’s opinion was to let auto manufacturers fail, go bankrupt and have Detroit go under, despite the millions of jobs at risk. In respon se to the banking/credit crisis he inherited in 2009, President Obama and his supporters in Congress passed and enacted the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. This act created a new Independent Consumer Watchdog housed in the Fed. Republicans have tried to repeal it. President Obama’s achievements in foreign policy have been too many to list, but ending the Iraq War, killing bin Laden and stopping the Taliban’s offensive in Afghanistan are obvious. He can also take some credit for the results of the "Arab Spring" insurgencies in Tunisia, Lybia and Egypt. Yet throughout this crisis, ...

President Obama's aides just got caught in a lie, an Obama spokeswoman acknowledging the campaign knows the man in a controversial ad despite claims to the contrary a day ago. After divulging information about Sen. Harry Reid's source regarding Mitt Romney's taxes, the Senate Majority Leader's aide is now retracting his previous statements. And apparently President Obama would like to bailout all industry and grow manufacturing jobs in the way he did General Motors and autoworkers. Problem is that taxpayers are still on the hook for more than $30 billion in the GM bailout. Those are some expensive jobs. We'll have those stories and much more on Lou Dobbs Tonight on the Fox Business Network at 7 & 10 p.m. (ET).
This is an awesome ad! A new video advertisement from conservative advocacy group Let Freedom Ring features the stories of several Delphi salaried retirees, who lost their pensions at the hand of the Secretary Tim Geithner's Department of Treasury. "I would ask President Obama why I had no rights and he had all the rights to take my pension away and never ever look back and say not only did I take it from Mary Miller, but I took it from 20,000 other people and their families," one Delphi salaried retiree, Mary Miller, says in the ad. "It's made life pretty rough. I've really struggled to pay for the basics," Miller also says in the ad, adding that the Obama administration's actions led to her losing "over 30 percent of my pension." The ad is destined for television sets and online ads in the battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, Let Freedom Ring executive director Alex Cortes said in an email to The Daily Caller. GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's campaign has addressed the Delphi ...
"Over the weekend, Investor's Business Daily's David Hogberg broke the news that 93% of General Motors' 2012 profits were based on subprime loans, a revelation that put a damper on President Obama's claims to have single-handedly rescued the automaker and restored it to financial health. 'GM Financial auto loans to customers with FICO scores below (the subprime threshold of) 660 rose from 87% of total loans in Q4 2010 to 93% in Q1 2012,' Hogberg found. 'The worse the FICO score, the bigger the increase. From Q4 2010 to Q1 2012, GM Financial loans to customers with the worst FICO scores -- below 540 -- shot up 79% to more than $2.3 billion. ... Prime loans, those above 660, dropped 42% to $676 million.' ... But Obama has embraced other forms of subprime lending as well. For example, he is now pushing regulators to let Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reduce the principal on 1.4 million delinquent housing loans, rewarding those who default over those who don't. ... Obama has also championed expansion of the Commu ...
A top-selling new book examines one of President Obama's mentors, who happened to be a card-carrying communist and was listed on the FBI's "Security Index" during the Cold War with the Soviet Union. The book is called, The Communist, Frank Marshall Davis: The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mentor. Author Paul Kengor explained to CBN News that even though many people don't recognize his name, Davis played an important role in Obama's upbringing. "The grandfather, Stanley Dunham actually was searching for a black male father figure, mentor for his grandson, because Obama didn't have one because of his biological father. And so, of all people, Stanley Dunham picked Frank Marshall Davis," Kengor said. "I found Davis just constantly bashing General Motors, bashing Wall Street, bashing the rich and millionaires and Republican tax cuts, favoring redistribution of wealth to public works projects to get America out of a Great Depression," Kengor explained. "Calling for taxpayer funding of universal Health Care - a ...
was very pleased to learn that General Motors recently reported its best sales month in more than three years. GM's June 2012 sales increased an impressive 15.5. percent from June 2011's figures. Analysts are hopeful that this strength will continue through the rest of the year. This news isn't just good for Lansing-- it's a sign that our entire state is continuing to make progress in recovering from the Great Recession. Thank goodness President Obama and Congress had the foresight and courage to support our auto industry, securing hundreds of thousands of jobs for Michiganders and Americans.
Thursday's Supreme Court ruling upholding President Barack Obama's signature legislation Health Care legislation effectively cements the cornerstone of his political legacy, observers said."This would be in the first paragraph of Barack Obama's summation of his presidency,""I think President Obama is now in very good stead to say, 'I passed the Affordable Care Act, I got Osama Bin Laden, and I saved General Motors," said Brinkley, referring also to the raid that killed the Al Qaeda leader and Obama's backing of the automobile industry bailout. "He has three real historic accomplishments."
The Washington Post published a story June 21 calling Mitt Romney an offshoring "pioneer" while at Bain Capitol, and President Obama's campaign made an ad about that. On Wednesday, six days after the story was published, Romney's campaign is seeking a full retraction from the Post, Politico's Dylan ...
Obama: The First 200 Days By Greg Quinn August 17th, 2009 It has now been a little over 200 days that President Obama has been in office. I thought it might be worthwhile to review his accomplishments over this first roughly 7-month timeframe. 1. Offended the Queen of England 2. Bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia 3. Indicated to the President of France that America is not a Christian nation, and that America is a Muslim nation 4. Praised Daniel Ortega, a known Marxist 5. Kissed Hugo Chavez 6. Endorsed Evo Morales of Bolivia 7. Announced that he would meet with Iranians without pre-conditions 8. Gave away billions of taxpayer dollars to AIG without establishing how we would get that money back 9. Expanded the bailouts 10. Established government ownership of General Motors 11. Insulted the Special Olympics 12. More than doubled our national debt (so far) 13. Announced his plans to terminate the space missile defense system the day after the North Koreans launched an ICBM 14. Released information on intell ...
John Lott writes on NRO: Would you hire President Obama as your financial adviser? Three years ago his administration invested more than $100 billion in taxpayer money to bail out General Motors. On Tuesday, the entire company, not just what the government owns, was worth less than $34 billion. By a...
Democrats shared the following link and had this to say about it: General Motors is 5th on the 2012 Forbes 500 list, a symbol of the resurgent American auto industry -- which is in the world once again Under President Obama. After writing a New York Times editorial in 2008 titled, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt," Mitt Romney said yesterday that he "Deserves a lot of credit" for the auto industry’s success. Sick of t...
President Obama deserves reelection for two reasons. General Motors is alive and Bin Ladin is dead.
“Bin Laden is Dead and General Motors is Alive.” It’s catchy, and it’s a great campaign slogan. “If you're looking for a bumper sticker to sum up
Printer-Friendly Version The loudest rhetoric coming from President Obama lately has been about the Buffett Rule that millionaires should pay 30% of their income in taxes. But now it comes out that he and Michelle only pay 20.2% of their income of about $800,000 in taxes! The flunk their own standard by ten points! And, while we are on the subject of having the rich pay their "fair share" of taxes, how about the fact that General Motors, which is, in effect, owned by the government, paid not a penny of taxes on a profit of $7 billion last year! They, too, flunked the Buffett Rule. The fact, of course, is that all the Buffett Rule does is, in effect, raise the capital gains tax rate from the current 15% to 30%. Every time the government has raised the capital gains tax rate, revenues have fallen. Every time it has lowered the rate, revenues have risen. It is a tax that costs money and raises nothing. When Reagan cut the capital gains tax from 28% to 20% in 1981, capital gains tax revenues rose from $12 ...
Over at the Washington Examiner, Timothy P. Carney makes a crucial distinction that remains lost to too many Republicans (and their critics): President Obama has thrown taxpayer money at General Motors and Chrysler, touted the bailout of Wall Street, extended $25 billion in export loan guarantees to...
