I congratulate Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag on his apntmnt as Chief of Army. It's indeed a matter of great pride and honor…
A quiet campaign has started proposing the name of Gen V K Singh as the next Defense Minister. I think this would be a stupid move... more stupid than promoting governor of Reserve Bank of India to become the Finance Minister and then the Prime Minister. Singh has retired after a controversial confrontation with the earlier government, has love-hate relationships with his former colleagues and to place him ABOVE all of them as the Defense Minister would create needless bad blood. As it is, the UPA government hastily appointed Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag as India's Army Chief. Army (as well as Navy and Airforce) has always kept away from Indian politics and that makes sense in a democracy.
