If you are a cricket fan, with the game all the time, the thing that the selectors did not select the senior players, especially Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan should not surprise you. As a cricket fan, I am totally content with the selection committee. However, this is India. In India, there is emotion, sentiments, past history, attachment to a player comes into picture. People and fans in India couldn't digest the fact that the man who won us two World Cup's, Yuvraj Singh, the man who played 2 fantastic innings in 2 finals, Gautam Gambhir are not selected. The so called cricket and Indian Team fans took on the BCCI for the such a selection. They even passed comments on MS Dhoni, which I felt is weird. How come MS Dhoni select a team, that too for a World Cup? All I want to tell the Indian fans is to think practically. Yes, these players have given us a lot of memories and they have made India proud. However, the condition in which they are now and the poor ...
This is for those who barks against dhoni.non sense..saying it's dhoni who said not to select senior players! Pure idiotism! Grow.up guys!!! . Sunil Gavasakar has backed the national selectors’ decision to exclude senior players such as Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Zaheer Khan from India's 30 men probables for the 2015 World Cup. Gavaskar said he had already expected the selectors to drop the veterans as they had not made a mark in domestic cricket. "It was not a surprise because they did not figure in the playing XI for over a year and a half. If they had been scoring runs or taking wickets (in domestic matches), they would have certainly been in contention. Cricket (however) has become quicker, faster and teams cannot afford to take passengers," Gavaskar said “Experience is invaluable, particularly in must-win games. But the fact is that they have not been in form, they haven’t brushed for a place in the 30 probables is a telling indicator," Gavaskar said when ...

Senior opener Gautam Gambhir says "had there been an Indian Premier League auction today, he would have still gone" for Yuvraj Singh and called him India's "greatest match-winner" in limited overs cricket. "I don't think any cricketer has criticised Yuvraj. It is the media which has attacked him and we need to be careful about what we say. He has been our greatest match-winners in limited overs cricket," Gambhir said during a promotional event
U sick ppl abuse Gautam Gambhir on some VK issue, Yuvraj Singh on T20 issue and what not.
We sorely missed Gautam Gambhir in this World Cup:( If the team management could show so much confidence in Yuvraj Singh, why not give an opportunity to Gambhir?

Sachin Tendulkar, who has announced his retirement at the end of the ongoing Test match in Mumbai against the West Indies, still figures on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's list of contracted players for 2013-2014. Tendulkar, who is playing his 200th Test, figures in the elite Grade A alongside Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin. A Grade A contract ensures a player gets a retainer fee of Rs 1 crore each for the season. Interestingly, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh have not been given contracts. Grade B, worth 50 lakhs each, has Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Ishant Sharma, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rohit Sharma. The Grade C list -- 25 lakh each - has Dinesh Karthik, Amit Mishra, Wriddhiman Saha, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Vinay Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Jaydev Unadkat and Mohit Sharma. Any player who turns out for India in a Test/ODI ...

Gautam Gambhir: Once India’s captain-in-waiting, now awaiting comeback, Despite having done well in his recent exams, Gautam Gambhir would have felt like a nervous kid when the Indian selectors met on Monday to announce the ‘results’ ahead of the South African tour. He would have gone through some mixed feelings, as just days ago he had slammed 153 runs against Haryana in Ranji Trophy match. But he wouldn’t have been confident of a spot, as he knew he wasn’t in the good books of MS Dhoni. And his fear came true when the results were announced – he had failed to make a comeback, once again. There is no rocket science to fathom why Gambhir wasn’t chosen for the Proteas tour. Two discarded senior players – Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan too went in exile for quite some time, but finally made a comeback. While Virender Sehwag didn’t come up with anything substantial to deserve a place, Gambhir played some crucial knocks in the Ranji Trophy. In the same match where Zaheer Khan scalped a five-fe ...

Back at Rajkot on 14 Nov 2008, Yuvraj Singh scored a 64 ball century against England.. That was then the second fastest 100 by an Indian behind 62 ball thriller by Mohammad Azharuddin against New Zealand at Baroda in 17 December 1988 but since then, Virat Kohli has twice broken the record which was later owned by Virender Sehwag with his 60 ball knock. Yuvraj was injured that day, and hence, had Gautam Gambhir as runner (trick?). Otherwise, I'm sure this Punjab Left hander could have scored the first double century in one day Internationals as well. Questions poured in at Itsonlycricket answers, asking for lists of exceptionally quick 100s ever made in one day international cricket.. I've done one better, and included the list fastest century ever made by all test playing nations, cause I firmly believe this record is also going to change frequently due to the kind of bats batsmen use these days and the evolution of Twenty20 games. Currently, Shahid Afridi of Pakistan holds the record of fastest century i ...

Friends,  India won the Champions Trophy recently; what was remarkable was the way in which the Indian team played-like true World Champions, controlled aggression with a passion to win. They were playing not for the sake of money from endorsements but they wanted to win, while money comes as a result of success but it is the success that determines money not the other way round. This victory was made even sweeter as it was held in the seeming, wet & cold conditions of England and in the absence of some of the ageing popular cricketers in the country like Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh etc. just to name a few. Before this, India had a convincing victory over Australia; that one was also accomplished by young bunch of players. Selectors needs to be lauded for this achievement as they were bold enough to drop some of the old stars and try youngsters who are hungry for success. Recently there is a Hindi movie ‘Yeh Jawaani Ye Hai Diwaani’ which has become a super hit. It ...
India's 2015 World Cup team is here Sometimes, in team sport, the past can sit heavily on the present. The team that won India's second World Cup contained the first player to make a double century in 50-over cricket. That apart, Sachin Tendulkar is probably the finest all-round batsman thegame has seen. Opening with him was Virender Sehwag, whowent on to break Tendulkar's record. The Man of the Tournament was Yuvraj Singh, the top scorer in the final was Gautam Gambhir. Also in that team were two bowlers with over 250 wickets: Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh. Yet, two years later, none of them was in the team for the ICC Champions Trophy. And incredibly, none of them was missed. Continuity was providedby the captain, MS Dhoni and two stalwarts in their mid-20s, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. Forthe first time in a major one-daytournament abroad, India began as favourites, played like winners and remained unbeaten. Dhoni alone is in his 30s, and he is only 31, in a teamwith an average age of 26. The transi ...

India's 15 members squad for Champions Trophy has been announced. India's selectors dropped opener Gautam Gambhir and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for Champions Trophy one-day tournament in England. India v South Africa, Champions Trophy : Big names missing in big game !! The last time India played South Africa in an ODI was in the 2011 World Cup, when India's top five were Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh. The bowling line-up consisted of Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel and Harbhajan Singh. None of those players, most of whom are vastly experienced, are in the squad for this tournament. South Africa are also missing some of their legendary names, with Graeme Smith injured and Jacques Kallis skipping the tournament for personal reasons. Their fans might have felt reassured looking at the familiar bowling line-up, but Dale Steyn's side strain means he could miss the first game Team News : India: (probable) 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Dinesh Karthik, 5 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Suresh Raina, 7 Ravindra Jadeja/ Irfan Pathan, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Umesh Yadav South Africa: (probable) 1 Hashim Amla, ...
To force their way back into the national side, the axed trio of Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag should keep the fighting spirit alive and get back through good performances in domestic cricket, former captain and chairman of selector Kris Srikkanth said on Thursday Srikkanth said not losing self belief was key to any struggling player looking for a comeback. "They are young players with lot of talent. Positivity is key to their comeback. They have to fight. They should look to domestic cricket in the next season. Such comebacks have been made in the past and I am sure, they can do it," Srikkanth told PTI. "There will be lot of cricket ahead, so that's their chance," he said. Gambhir, Yuvraj and Sehwag are not part of the Indian squad, which will fly to England forthe Champions Trophy. The conditions in England would be completely alien to what Indians cricketers are getting while playing in IPL but Srikkanth said that won't affect the players much. "The best thing is that the players are ...
Toss Kolkata Knight Riders chose to bat v Pune Warriors Live scorecard and ball-by-ball details Parvez Rasool, the Jammu & Kashmir allrounder, was included in the Pune Warriors XI and became the first player from the northern state to feature in an IPL match. He replaced legspinner Rahul Sharma. Warriors, however, lost the toss and were asked to field by Kolkata Knight Riders, who still have a mathematical interest in the game. Knight Riders made two changes to their team. They brought in Manoj Tiwary, who missed a few matches due to injury, and Ryan ten Doeschate, who is playing for the first time this season, replacing Debabrata Das and Ryan McLaren. When asked if the team was motivated to end the tournament on a high, Gautam Gambhir said, "playing for KKR is a big enough motivation. The match was reduced to 45 overs per side after a rain-delayed start. In the second innings, play was again interrupted by bad light and North Zone were set a revised target of 160 in 33 overs. Yuvraj and Chand made short work of the chase, taking their side past the total with more than three overs to spare, after Praveen Kumar struck early to dismiss Chandan Madan and captain Gautam Gambhir with the score at 31 for 2. Australia in India 2012-13 Selectors take the tough calls There is a common strand to decisions taken by India's current selection panel Suresh Raina dropped for the England Test series; Yuvraj Singh axed for the last Test against England; Virender Sehwag excluded from the Pakistan and England limited-overs series; Gautam Gambhir dropped for the Australia Test series; and now Sehwag left out of the last two Tests against Australia. Sandeep Patil's selection panel has been making tough calls, and there is a common strand to these decisions: the players who are being dropped are effectively being dropped from the playing XI, which takes the potentially unpopular decisions out of the hands of captain and coach. In the first half of its one-year tenure, the new selection committee seems to have followed the policy: "If you don't want a player in the team, don't include him in the squad." MS Dhoni and the erstwhile selection panel headed by Kris Srikkanth were hardly on the same page. As a result, R Ashwin, at ...
Somewhere down the line, I think we should stand and applaud the selectors for some gutsy decisions they've managed to take. They have dropped Harbhajan, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir and now Virender Sehwag. It is one of the toughest tasks to *drop* senior players as the ones listed above. Takes a lot of guts, especially in India. :)
1. At — 300 runs for the fifth wicket, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh vs Pakistan, December 2007 in Banaglore: India were 61-4 before the left-handers added exactly 300 at nearly five runs an over. Ganguly made his highest Test score of 239 while Yuvraj’s 169 made the last of his three Test tons, also his highest score. 2. — 303 for the fifth wicket, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman vs Australia, December 2003 in Adelaide: India were 85-4 in danger of folding quickly before Dravid (233) and Laxman (148) counterattacked magnificently. The incredibly partnership set up a famous Indian win. 3. — 308 for the third wicket, Sachin Tendulkar and Murali Vijay vs Australia, October 2010 in Bangalore: India were 38-2 trailing Australia’s massive 478 when Tendulkar (214) and Vijay (139) led the repairs. It was Cheteshwar Pujara’s debut and he and Tendulkar knocked off the 207 needed for the win in the fourth innings. 4. — 314 for the second wicket, Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid vs England, December 2008 ...

Unmukt Chand ,Gautam Gambhir ,Awana vs Manoj Tiwary ,Shami Ahmed and W.Saha Can't wait for the match! I wish Kohli,Ishant,Nehra,Dinda,Dada and Sehwag were a part of this tie too!
We head to Chennai for the first test, a ground known for spin bowling. Whether the ground will help spin or pace more in the first test remains to be seen, but expect India to go in with 2 spinners and Australia could well go in with 1 as well - in spite of having much better pace bowlers than spinners.   India's squad for the first 2 tests:MS Dhoni (capt.), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, M Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Ashok Dinda   It is a sign of just how scared India are that they named a 15 man squad - with the option to change it completely after 2 tests! Several big names are missing, including Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Zaheer Khan. India's aura of invincibility is in tatters after England beat them in India and they are looking to make sure that they change it.   Likely XI: Virender Sehwag, Ajinkya Rahane, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli .. ...

Sourav Ganguly, feels that he is still fit to play cricket and hinted that he may play the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. The 40-year-old has not enjoyed success since the inception of the cash-rich league in 2008. The left-handed batsman was initially the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders but miserably failed to deliver the goods. Hewas later replaced by Gautam Gambhir , resulting in an evident improvement in the franchise’s performance. Ganguly, who is known as ‘Dada’ in the cricketing world, led the Pune Warriors India in IPL 5, in the absence of their regular skipper, Yuvraj Singh . The result however, was not different as the team finished at the bottom of the points table. A number of sport’s pundits criticised Ganguly’s lacklustre approach, both as a batsman and as a captain, and they feel that the veteran should call it a day from competitive cricket. The former Indian skipper recently turned 40 and thinks that he still has the ability to compete in domestic cri ...

India: The hosts were beleaguered by the failure of the top order in the recent ODIs against Pakistan. Ajinkya Rahane's struggles against Steven Finn in particular has kept the team management worried. There has been some improvement over the course of the three games against England. Gautam Gambhir has got to starts but continues to frustrate by not carrying on. Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh have shown signs of returning to top form. The former was particularly impressive in the 3rd ODI at Ranchi. He badly needed some runs under his belt after a short lean trot. The Man of the Match winning performance should hold him in good stead for the upcoming games. That is good news for India and not so much for England. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina continue to be solid in the lower middle order. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami Ahmed and Ishant Sharma have gelled well becoming an increasingly potent attack in this format. Bhuvneshwar, in particular, has made the new ball count almost every time he takes it. Ravindra Jadeja's ...

MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Shami Ahmed, Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane. This is the no.1 ODI team in the world.
India Most of the Indian batsmen have looked impressive in the series thus far. India would look for a good start from their openers, Ajinkya Rahane and Gautam Gambhir as that would provide the base for their explosive middle order to launch an attack on the English bowlers. Virat Kohli is perhaps the only Indian batsman, who is playing way below his potential and ability and he would certainly look to make amends for that. Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh look in great touch and with Ravindra Jadeja producing a cameo in the previous match, the batting looks a class apart. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shami Ahmed have brought with them the energy and spark much required in the Indian bowling. Their ability to swing and seam the new ball would stand them in good stead. Ishant Sharma has been in rather indifferent form and might be replaced by Ashok Dinda. Ravindra Jadeja has been a revelation and along with R Ashwin and Yuvraj Singh would add variety to the spin department. England The visitors would want ...
Tim Bresnan missed the Kochi ODI with a niggle and, if fit, should return in place of Chris Woakes. Will England persist with Jade Dernbach? The fast bowler got the wicket of Dhoni in Rajkot and had kept India in check in the batting Powerplay before he and his bag of variations fell apart at the death. England (possible) 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Ian Bell, 3 Kevin Pietersen, 4 Eoin Morgan, 5 Joe Root, 6 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 7 Samit Patel, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 James Tredwell, 10 Jade Dernbach/Stuart Meaker, 11 Steven Finn Amid all the local excitement, Dhoni was hit on the right thumb while batting against the bowling coach Joe Dawes in the nets. That was the end of his practice as he received ice treatment, but he is expected to be fit to play. With Shami Ahmed not doing badly at all in the four overs he got in Kochi, India can be expected to stick to a winning combination. India (possible) 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Ajinkya Rahane, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Ravindra ...

India finally win, thrash England in 2nd ODI India first posted a competitive 285, riding on captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni`s 72 and Ravindra Jadeja`s 61, before the bowlers skittled out the visitors for a paltry 158 in just 36 overs to level the five-match series 1-1. It was a convincing and morale-boosting victory for the Indians who have struggled of late even in home conditions, losing the ODI series to arch-rivals Pakistan and the Test series against England. The hosts did well in all departments of the game, though the batting of the top order continued to be a concern with Gautam Gambhir (8) and Ajinkya Rahane (4) failing to deliver while the form of Virat Kohli remained patchy though he scored 37 today. It was Dhoni`s 66-ball 72 and Jadeja`s blistering unbeaten knock of 61 in just 37 balls which provided the late flourish to the Indian innings. Suresh Raina (55) and Yuvraj Singh (32), who was distinctly unlucky to be given LBW, were the other notable contributors. With the Nehru Stadium providing am ...
India found England’s 325 stiff to conquer in the first one-day international at rajkot yesterday.behind a spectacular opening stand between Alastair Cook and Ian Bell, England posted a big total that fed india into pressure. Ajinkya Rahane and Gautam Gambhir made a bold effort and Yuvraj Singh unleashed shots to regain the momentum lost, but India just could not find a man to take it past the finishing line. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni showed glimpses hitting four sixes to rekindle hopes, but once he was droped, England proceeded to win the match by nine runs.
Cricket England hold nerve to beat India in opening ODI First ODI, Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot - England (329-4 from 50 overs: Bell 85, Cook 75) beat India (316-9 from 50 overs: Yuvraj 61, Gambhir 52, Raina 50, Tredwell 4-44) by nine runs. England lead the five-match series 1-0. England arrested a run of 13 straight one-day international losses away to India with a nine-run win in Rajkot. Led by contributions from the whole batting order, England posted a competitive total of 325 for four from their 50 overs. Alastair Cook (75) and Ian Bell (88) set the tone, and Samit Patel applied the finishing touches with a 20-ball 44. A very good batting pitch at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium meant that score was never out of India's reach. India's openers made a flying start, and three batsmen - Gautam Gambhir (52), Yuvraj Singh (61) and Suresh Raina (50) - scored half-centuries as they set about their target. But England took wickets at crucial times, with James Tredwell the pick of ...
India stayed in the game thanks to half-centuries from Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina.
England start ODI series against India with nine-run win England made a winning start to their five-match ODI series beating India by nine runs in the first One-day International (ODI) at the spanking new Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium here Friday. India, chasing a target of 326, managed 316 for nine in 50 overs after Yuvraj Singh top scored with 61. James Tredwell was the pick of the English bowlers bagging four for 44 while Jade Dernbach and Tim Bresnan picked up two wickets each. Tredwell was also adjudged as Man of the Match. India were off to a flying start with Ajinkya Rahane (47) and Gautam Gambhir (52) adding 96 runs for the first wicket. But then Tredwell struck in consecutive overs to remove the India openers. Virat Kohli's (15) unimpressive run continued as he was caught behind off Bresnan as India slumped from 96 for no loss to 138 for three by the 26th over. Yuvraj and Suresh Raina (50) raised hopes with their 60-run stand for the fourth wicket but again Tredwell removed the two batsm ...
75 overs India 136 for 2 (Yuvraj 20*, Kohli 14*) need another 190 to win against England 325 for 4 (Bell 85, Cook 75) India needed to enter unchartered territory to beat England in the opening ODI in Rajkot. They had never scored more than 325 to win a one-day international on home soil and, even if they only needed one more run than their previous highest, they knew that history as well as recent batting form was against them. Not that the task initially seemed to trouble them. They began confidently with Ajinkya Rahane and Gautam Gambhir rarely having to extend themselves in amassing 96 in 16.4 overs in an untroubled first-wicket stand, but both got out to gentle chip shots against James Tredwell to reach the mid-point at 136. India needed another 190 runs at 7.60 per over. Tredwell, an understudy to Graeme Swann in England's ODI side, has had only intermittent opportunities, but Swann had been rested from the series, leaving him with an opportunity to assert himself. This was only his 10th one-day inte ...
Ind vs Eng ODI: Dhoni & Co aim to reverse the slide The last quarter of 2012 was a rather forgettable one for Team India. After all, England handed MS Dhoni’s side a 2-1 defeat in the four-match Test series. After the drubbing they got in England in 2011, the return series was supposed to be India’s chance to extract revenge. But it was the visiting team that made merry before Christmas. They also drew the Twenty20 series 1-1. And if that wasn’t enough, arch-rivals Pakistan — here during England’s absence — beat India in the ODI series after sharing the honours in the T20 rubber. The World Champions didn’t play like World Champions. We were expecting wholesale changes, but the selectors chose to drop only the woefully out-of-form Virender Sehwag. His opening partner Gautam Gambhir, no less inconsistent, escaped the axe. In the absence of Sehwag, Ajinkya Rahane will partner Gambhir at the top. Yuvraj Singh, the most capped player in the side, will need to step up. And the southpaw’s record ...

2nd ODI: Pakistan thrash India to win series 2-0 Cricketnext Staff Cricketnext.com| 03-Jan 16:03 PM Kolkata: Nasir Jamshed's century and spirited show by the bowlers powered Pakistan to a 85-run win over India in the second one-dayer at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. With this win Pakistan have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing a target of 251, India were all out for 165 with skipper MS Dhoni being the top scorer and remaining unbeaten on 54. For Pakistan, all the bowlers operated as a unit. SaeedAjmal finished with 3 for 20 while Umar Gul and Junaid Khan claimed two wickets each. Pakistan kept their record intact at the Eden by winning their fourth ODI in a row. India got off to an edgy start in their chase, with both the Pakistan pacers Mohammad Irfan and Junaid coming hard at the openers. Gautam Gambhir was the first to go when he tried to drive a Junaid delivery and played on for 11 to leave India at 42 for 1. Then wickets kept on tumbling with Virat Kohli(6) and Virende ...
Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh all need to lend MS Dhoni some ideas when things aren't happening for India
i think now Ravi Shastri, gavaskar and kapil dev will ask yuvraj singh and Gautam Gambhir for retirement. *** .
Suresh Raina and skipper MS Dhoni tried to revive India innings but could not get going when Mohammad Hafeez dismissed the former to leave India in spot of bother. Umar Gul joined the party, removing Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh to turn the momentum in Pakistan's way. Sehwag was edgy throughout his innings, making 31 off 43 balls before caught plumb in front of the wicket. Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan dismissed Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli in quick succession to rock Indian chase. Left-armer continued his dream run, giving India second blow by dismissing Virat Kohli to reduce them to 55/2 in 12 overs. Kohli attempted to flick the wide down the leg side but only managed to play it with the inside half of the bat behind the stumps where Kamran Akmal dived full to his left to take a spectacular catch. India got off to cautious start with Sehwag and Gambhir negotiated Pakistan pacers well and added 42 for the first wicket before the southpaw got his inside edge onto the stumps. Earlier, opener Nasir Jamsh ...
ndia's spinners, R Ashwin, part-timer Suresh Raina and Yuvraj, slowed down Pakistan's openers between overs six to 11, resulting in their wickets at the cost of just two boundaries. The required rate had climbed to more than 12 in the 12th over, when Hafeez began his charge with a scoop for four that highlighted the feature of his innings, swift but skilful and interspersed with some wonderful touch-play, but little brute force. Smart stats India's score of 192 is their third-highest total in T20 internationals, and their highest against Pakistan. Pakistan's 181 is also their highest against India. Yuvraj Singh's 72 is his fifth half-century, and his highest score, in T20 internationals. It's also his first against Pakistan. Among Indians, only Gautam Gambhir has more fifty-plus scores. Yuvraj's seven sixes is the joint sixth-highest in a T20I innings, and the highest by an Indian. It's the second time he has struck seven sixes in an innings. His tally of 54 sixes is the fourth-highest in T20Is. Mohammad ...
Cricket India beat Pakistan to tie T20I series Yuvraj Singh's 72 helped India level the two-match T20 international series against Pakistan with an 11-run win in Ahmedabad. Yuvraj Singh and Ashok Dinda starred with bat and ball respectively, the former seeing the hosts to 192 for five with 72 in 36 balls. Dinda then took up the battle taking three for 36, including Pakistan's top-scorer Mohammed Hafeez for 55. Ajinkya Rahane (28) and Gautam Gambhir (21) put on a bright 44-run opening stand for India before Umar Gul accounted for both men, bringing together Virat Kohli and Yuvraj. Kohli made a steady 27 before being run out taking on Saeed Ajmal, but Yuvraj was irrepressible. He scored at exactly two a ball, plundering seven sixes and four boundaries, including two maximums in a row off Sohail Tanvir and three more off Saeed Ajmal's next over. He eventually holed out to Gul, who also claimed the scalp of Mahendra Singh Dhoni (33) to finish with four for 37. Pakistan started their chase confidently, Nasir J ...

Gautam Gambhir successfully manages to get himself run out. India 90/2. Yuvraj Singh hits his first ball for a huge SIX.
India: While there is no doubt that the Indian batting line up does not lack talent, the form of some of the batsmen remains a concern. The opening slots are most likely to be taken up by Ajinkya Rahane and Gautam Gambhir. While the former has not played too many games this year, he is a promising batsman and going by his performance in the first T20I against England, Rahane does pack quite a punch. His opening partner Gambhir is the second highest scorer for India in T20Is this year. However, his strike-rate is not all that impressive and the way he struggled for runs against England, suggests that this series might turn out to be a final chance for the left-hander to redeem himself. Coming at number three for India is Virat Kohli, who has had a tremendous year with the bat and he will be the lynch-pin of the Indian batting batting order. Next comes Yuvraj Singh, who has been contributing his fair share with both the ball and the bat. Rohit Sharma has not been much of a contributor this year but he finds ...
Well, before criticizing MS Dhoni, nobody realized that Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh nd even Sachin Tendulkar have scored less than MS Dhoni in this series... Nobody realized that our spinners were not able to pick 20 WICKETS of Englishmen nd collectively our batting struggled as well.. I am not forcing any blame on any one particular individual but everyone must agree to the fact that this was a collective team failure nd was not the failure of MS Dhoni itself... Infact, he fought with a lot of courage for India.. He played for about a full day for his 99 off 249 balls nd made sure that India will not lose the 4th test... Everyone forgot that he got a well played half century in the first innings of that Eden Gardens Test Match... He even took the blame all upon himself even though he knew that it was a collective team failure. Salutes to you MS Dhoni... You are the BEST CAPTAIN and will always be... ~~~S.RAY~~~
Dubai: Pragyan Ojha retained his fifth position while Sachin Tendulkar slipped a place down to be ranked 19th in the latest ICC Test rankings released here on Sunday. Left-arm spinner Ojha, gained six points to reach a career-best 773 rating points after he finished with five wickets in the Kolkata Test against England. Offie Ravichandran Ashwin moved two places to seventh in the latest ranking for all-rounders, led by South Africa's Jacques Kallis, after he scored 91 runs and took five wickets against England. Dashing Indian opener Virender Sehwag moved a position up to 23rd and his Delhi teammate Gautam Gambhir (35th), too, gained a position. Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni moved a place to the 38th position. Cheteshwar Pujara went four places down to 25th and Yuvraj Singh in 71st (down by two) were some of the other changes for the Indians. England's captain Alastair Cook, with his 190-run knock against India, gained a position and is now fourth with 874 points. West Indian Shivnarine Chanderpaul c ...
Score Updates: India 172/4 at tea on Day 1 of the third Test against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India lost the wickets of Gautam Gambhir (60) and Virat Kohli (6) in the second session. While Sachin Tendulkar is unbeaten on 46 runs, Yuvraj Singh is batting on 14 runs. Earlier, Tendulkar completed 34,000 runs in international cricket.
As for Tendulkar's place in the side, let's also apply the same yardstick for some others. Gautam Gambhir has struggled for longer, Yuvraj Singh has looked more out of sorts, Zaheer Khan is less fit, and R Ashwin is less athletic than Tendulkar. The elephant that nobody used to speak about is now hiding other people's failures just because he is so big. During a Test that was the biggest failure of Indian spinners - on a designer track, after winning the toss, and with runs on board - all we saw was people telling Tendulkar it's time to go. It's not that Tendulkar is getting any preferential treatment from the Indian selectors, it's just that Indian cricket is going through a phase weak enough to justify his continued selection. If the cupboard was brimming with such exceptional talent, why would we keep going back to Suresh Raina and Yuvraj?

Just read an interesting stuff...(Cricketer vs Companies) Yuvraj Singh - Wockhardt (bounced back with superb gain) Gautam Gambhir – Ranbaxy (Inconsistent and never know when it will perform) Rahul Dravid - HDFC Bank (Consistent and solid quarter after quarter) Anil Kumble - HDFC Ltd (Again reliable and strong fundamentals) Sehwag - JP Associates (Will perform only in high beta environment) Zahee r Khan – Infosys (Consistent earlier but waning magic!) Harbhajan - Suzlon Energy (No comments required!) Cheteshwar Pujara – Lupin (Solid potential ahead) Virat Kohli – Cognizant (Rocking even in tough times) Dada – TCS (Undiminished aura and class) Ashwin – Jubilant Foodworks (Good growth so far but sustaining it is the key) M S Dhoni – ITC (Darling of everyone – default/no brainer pick) Last but not least………. Tendulkar - Reliance Industries (Highest weight and highest market cap but stock wont perform) !!!
India collapse has England on brink of victory 25 November 2012 12:42 England are on course for a stunning victory in the second Test after reducing India to 117-7 at stumps on day three in Mumbai. Gautam Gambhir battled his way to 53 off 109 balls with Harbhajan Singh (one) the other batsman at the crease after Monty Panesar (5-61) and Graeme Swann (2-39) ran through the Indian top order in the second innings. The hosts lead by just 31 runs. India began their second innings in the final session and looked in trouble immediately after England were bowled out for 413, for an 86-run advantage thanks to Alastair Cook (122) and Kevin Pietersen (186). Virender Sehwag (nine) was dismissed in the eighth over as he played forward to a well-pitched Panesar delivery that turned sharply away, with Swann taking the resulting edge easily at gully. The in-form Cheteshwar Pujara (six) fell seven runs later as a Swann delivery took the inside edge and went into the hands of Jonny Bairstow at short leg. Sachin Tendulkar ( ...

Gurgaon: Team India’s star opening batsman Gautam Gambhir started a new innings of his life here on Friday as he tied the knot with Natasha Jain. Gambhir’s bride Natasha is the daughter of a prominent Delhi businessman. The guest list included Gambhir’s teammates such as Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Ishant Sharma and Munaf Patel. Former cricketers like Madanlal, Dave Whatmore and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley also graced the function held at a sprawling farhouse here. Rajeev Shukla, Anuradha Prasad and several other prominent personalities also attended the marriage ceremony.
Virat Kohli , the rising talent in Indian cricket, was born on November 5, 1988 in Delhi . He is a right-hand batsman, who usually bats in the lower middle order and is also a right arm medium pace bowler. As the captain of the Under 19 Cricket Team of India, Virat led it to a memorable U-19 World Cup triumph at Malaysia in 2008. He started the U-19 World Cup campaign in style with a century against West Indies. Coming in at his favourite number four position, Virat scored 235 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 47. During the tournament, his team strategy, including his bowling changes proved beneficial to the side and helped India win the World Cup, bringing him special credit. Virat played in the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy after Yuvraj Singh was injured. He got a chance to play in the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka. He scored his first ODI century, milking singles with Gautam Gambhir . They shared a 224 run partnership for the third wicket as India won by seven wickets to seal the series 3–1. G ...
Another great morning at THE DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GURGAON. The lads were all keen, and we devoted the session to running and calling. A big thanks to the Senior boys for their leadership. I was made aware of an interesting fact. Both Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh ( both current Test and T 20 players) were past Scholars. This was amongst many other past first class players.
India beat South Africa by one run but crashed out of the fourth edition of the World T20. TOI lists four areas where the 2007 champs must improve... OPENING BLUES: Both Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir failed miserably at the top. They looked rusty, lacked application and confidence. Their lack of feet movement betrayed their nerves. While Sehwag scored just 54 runs from three innings with a highest score of 29, Gambhir managed 80 from five games with a top score of 45. RICKETY MIDDLE-ORDER: As Virat Kohli bulldozed through opponents, others struggled. Be it Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh or MS Dhoni, everyone failed to live up to their reputation. Rohit looked scratchy barring his unbeaten 55 against England. Suresh Raina pulled up his socks against South Africa in India's do-or-die match but it was too little, too late. COMBO CONUNDRUM: While the three-spinner strategy boomeranged against Australia partly due to rain, MS Dhoni's team selections have not really been convincing. Australia may ...
India beat Pakistan by eight wickets in Colombo on Sunday night to keep itself in the World Twenty20 and maintain total dominance over its big rival in major cricket tournaments. Virat Kohli starred once again, taking the wicket of Pakistan’s captain Mohammad Hafeez and then scoring 78 runs off 61 balls, particularly impressive given that he came in when India was on 0 for 1 in the first over after the out-of-sorts Gautam Gambhir was caught and bowled by Raza Hasan. India was chasing Pakistan’s low total of 128, but these were tense times. The Pakistani batsmen had collapsed as Mahendra Singh Dhoni cleverly mixed up his attack, but there was no certainty that India would find batting any easier, particularly given the gravity of the situation. If India failed to beat Pakistan, it would be on the next flight home. In the other group match, South Africa lost to Australia earlier in the day. But Kohli held his nerve, and with Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh, guided India to a clear victory, reaching the ...
apna captian to sabse fisidi nikla yar. Dhoni’s strike-rate of 109 in international T20 matches is the lowest among all the players who have played more than one innings. In the 15-member Indian squad only Manoj Tiwary (strike rate of 88 from one match), Ashok Dinda (strike rate of 95 from one match), Piyush Chawla (not batted in the three matches that he has played) and L Balaji (not played a single match) are below the Indian captain in terms of strike rate. Yes, the list includes the bowlers as well, Harbhajan Singh with a strike rate of 120, Zaheer Khan (130), Irfan Pathan (125), R Ashwin (124) are far ahead of Dhoni’s strike-rate which is 109.When it comes to comparing Dhoni to the batsmen then the Indian captain lacks far behind in terms of scoring runs per hundred bowls. Everyone from Gautam Gambhir (122), Virender Sehwag (152), Virat Kohli (134), Rohit Sharma (127), Suresh Raina (137) and Yuvraj Singh (150) are much above Dhoni when it comes to scoring runs quickly.
According to Dr. Zaib, PTV Sports' astrologer; Saeed Ajmal will perform outstandingly well in the World T20. Pakistan's young-gun Raza Hasan will also shine if provided with an opportunity. Yasir Arafat will not have a good time with the ball. Abdul Razzaq and Nasir Jamshed will fire, but only if they play up the order. Imran Nazir and Shahid Afridi will only prove to be fruitful during the latter stages of the tournament. Shahid Afridi is also expected to spoil a few games for Pakistan, according to her. She also forecasted today's warm-up match between Pakistan and India. According to her, Virat Kohli, Manoj Tiwary and Suresh Raina will fail with the bat. Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh will bat extraordinarily well and will cause problems for Pakistan. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir will have a mediocre time with the bat in today's encounter.
When they first donned the Indian colours, the likes of Ms Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh were self-assured, resilient, fiercely talented and more. Today, though, Virat Kohli seems to have outmoded his predecessors in a manner that has made him the face of Indian cricket's next generation. He has scored 13 centuries in 90 ODI matches. Those are phenomenal numbers by any yardstick. Look closer, in a comparative framework, and the numbers hit harder. Kumara Sangakkara, for instance, has scored 14 hundreds, 11 of those from No. 3 or higher, in 333 ODIs. Virender Sehwag has scored 15 in 249 matches, and Gautam Gambhir has 11 in 139. These stats, striking as they are, tell us a thing or two about the sort of prospect Kohli is for Indian cricket. If one goes by the exterior - the spiky hair, tattoos, the swagger and arrogance of a confident young man, Kohli epitomises 21st century Indian youth. But the way he bats, especially in the first half of each innings, he seems the antithesis of how young cricketers in India li ...
