Which Cricketer will you miss the most in the 2015 World Cup? a) Sahwag b) Yuvraj Singh c) Gautam Gambhir d) Harbhajan Singh e) Zaheer Khan
If you are a cricket fan, with the game all the time, the thing that the selectors did not select the senior players, especially Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan should not surprise you. As a cricket fan, I am totally content with the selection committee. However, this is India. In India, there is emotion, sentiments, past history, attachment to a player comes into picture. People and fans in India couldn't digest the fact that the man who won us two World Cup's, Yuvraj Singh, the man who played 2 fantastic innings in 2 finals, Gautam Gambhir are not selected. The so called cricket and Indian Team fans took on the BCCI for the such a selection. They even passed comments on MS Dhoni, which I felt is weird. How come MS Dhoni select a team, that too for a World Cup? All I want to tell the Indian fans is to think practically. Yes, these players have given us a lot of memories and they have made India proud. However, the condition in which they are now and the poor ...
This is for those who barks against dhoni.non sense..saying it's dhoni who said not to select senior players! Pure idiotism! Grow.up guys!!! . Sunil Gavasakar has backed the national selectors’ decision to exclude senior players such as Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Zaheer Khan from India's 30 men probables for the 2015 World Cup. Gavaskar said he had already expected the selectors to drop the veterans as they had not made a mark in domestic cricket. "It was not a surprise because they did not figure in the playing XI for over a year and a half. If they had been scoring runs or taking wickets (in domestic matches), they would have certainly been in contention. Cricket (however) has become quicker, faster and teams cannot afford to take passengers," Gavaskar said “Experience is invaluable, particularly in must-win games. But the fact is that they have not been in form, they haven’t brushed for a place in the 30 probables is a telling indicator," Gavaskar said when ...
No place for 2011 hero Yuvraj & other 4 players in India's World Cup Squad. All-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been left out of the India squad which will defend the 50-over World Cup title he helped them win in 2011. Gautam Gambhir, who top scored for India in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. Fellow opener Virender Sehwag, paceman Zaheer Khan and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh are the three other members from that victorious team who were not considered for the tournament.

Sachin Tendulkar, who has announced his retirement at the end of the ongoing Test match in Mumbai against the West Indies, still figures on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's list of contracted players for 2013-2014. Tendulkar, who is playing his 200th Test, figures in the elite Grade A alongside Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin. A Grade A contract ensures a player gets a retainer fee of Rs 1 crore each for the season. Interestingly, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh have not been given contracts. Grade B, worth 50 lakhs each, has Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Ishant Sharma, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rohit Sharma. The Grade C list -- 25 lakh each - has Dinesh Karthik, Amit Mishra, Wriddhiman Saha, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Vinay Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Jaydev Unadkat and Mohit Sharma. Any player who turns out for India in a Test/ODI ...

Left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan has been called back into the Indian Test team for the tour of South Africa scheduled to start next month. Ishant Sharma, who had been dropped from the ODI side against West Indies has also found his way back following a nine-wicket haul for Delhi against Haryana. Zaheer had last played for India in the Eden Gardens Test against England in December, 2012 but returned impressive performances for India A and Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy matches. The Mumbai speedster is five short of becoming the fourth Indian after Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh to pick up 300 Test match wickets. Interestingly, Zaheer was one of three senior players along with Harbhajan and Virender Sehwag to lose their central contracts last week. Ishant, who was taken for plenty in the ODI series against Australia, also reclaimed his spot, mainly on the basis of his match-winning show on Sunday. Meanwhile, senior batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Sehwag continued to be ignored despite the former's 153 ...
NO BCCI CONTRACTS FOR ZAHEER, SEHWAG, HARBHAJAN The list has been cut down to 25 players from 37 last year. In a move that signals the BCCI’s vision for the near future, no annual contracts were handed out to Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh. The new list of graded contracts released by the BCCI today contained 25 cricketers. Oddly, Sachin Tendulkar playing his last game currently retains his ‘A’ grade contract worth Rs. 1 crore. In 2012, 37 players were contracted to the BCCI. Of them, a massive 17 have been dropped while five new players have been added. Of those five, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has been bumped up straight away to the ‘B’ grade contract worth Rs. 50 lakh. Three players have been downgraded: Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir have been given ‘B’ grades while Ajinkya Rahane gets a ‘C’ grade contract worth Rs. 25 lakh. Three more have been promoted from ‘C’ to ‘B’: Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay. “The players who do not figure in these lis ...

I think the best cricketing team,perhaps,would be Virender Sehwag,Gautam Gambhir,Virat Kohli,Suresh Raina,Yuvraj Singh,MS Dhoni(c) ,Harbhajan Singh,Ravindra Jadeja,Zaheer Khan,Ishant Sharma,Praveen Kumar.
India's 2015 World Cup team is here Sometimes, in team sport, the past can sit heavily on the present. The team that won India's second World Cup contained the first player to make a double century in 50-over cricket. That apart, Sachin Tendulkar is probably the finest all-round batsman thegame has seen. Opening with him was Virender Sehwag, whowent on to break Tendulkar's record. The Man of the Tournament was Yuvraj Singh, the top scorer in the final was Gautam Gambhir. Also in that team were two bowlers with over 250 wickets: Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh. Yet, two years later, none of them was in the team for the ICC Champions Trophy. And incredibly, none of them was missed. Continuity was providedby the captain, MS Dhoni and two stalwarts in their mid-20s, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. Forthe first time in a major one-daytournament abroad, India began as favourites, played like winners and remained unbeaten. Dhoni alone is in his 30s, and he is only 31, in a teamwith an average age of 26. The transi ...
Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan have moved on – or been moved on. And it's helped.
lot of players I am missing in this CT13.either they are out of this tournament for injury/lack of fitness/personal reason or brainless team management has opted not to pick them/has forced them to retire from ODI... Sachin Tendulkar, Mike Hussey, Kevin Pietersen, Jacques Kallis, Criag Kieswetter, Zaheer Khan, Graeme Smith, Albie Morkel, Vernon Philander, Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi, Shivnarayan Chanderpaul, Gautam Gambhir, Ryan Harris, Harbhajan Singh, Umar Gul, David Hussey, Morne Morkel, Aaron Finch, Umar Akmal, Welegedara, Trent Boult.the list goes longer with Dale Steyn, Greme Swann, Darren Sammy.
India v South Africa, Champions Trophy : Big names missing in big game !! The last time India played South Africa in an ODI was in the 2011 World Cup, when India's top five were Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh. The bowling line-up consisted of Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel and Harbhajan Singh. None of those players, most of whom are vastly experienced, are in the squad for this tournament. South Africa are also missing some of their legendary names, with Graeme Smith injured and Jacques Kallis skipping the tournament for personal reasons. Their fans might have felt reassured looking at the familiar bowling line-up, but Dale Steyn's side strain means he could miss the first game Team News : India: (probable) 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Dinesh Karthik, 5 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Suresh Raina, 7 Ravindra Jadeja/ Irfan Pathan, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Umesh Yadav South Africa: (probable) 1 Hashim Amla, ...

By having a Royal Stag khamba at your side you can make it large...Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh are exceptions
For the third and fourth Test against Australia team Virender Sehwag has been shown the door. His place is not a new player. First look was speculation that Harbhajan Singh but he probably did not place in the team to maintain its place are successful. Announced a 15-man squad for the first two games but this time it was the selectors announced the team of 14 members. Sehwag Chennai Test only two in the first innings and 19 runs in the second. Hyderabad, India in the same Test innings and he also scored the only six were dismissed. The way out of the team for India at this time because the second set opener opener Gautam Gambhir are not already in the team. Click in case of Sehwag out now with the other opener Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan Ajinkya Rahane or it will be interesting to see. Suresh Raina, Gautam Gambhir out & Harbhajan Singh, Sikhar Dhawan in for 1st two test against Australia.
JUST IN: Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh included; Gautam Gambhir out for the first two Tests against Australia.
Now that the opening pair of Sehwag and Gambhir are woefully out of form; and, now that Ishant Sharma is away for his surgery, Umesh Yadav having fitness problems, Munaf Patel seen nowhere and Zaheer Khan out of form-n-favour; there are quite a few places vacant up for grabs. Will Sreesanth and Harbhajan make a come back? Will Amabati Rayudu and Dhawal Kulkarni make it to the fifteen? Will Rahane finally get inducted in the playing eleven? Who will be the surprise element for the Test Series against Australia starting 22nd February, we will have to wait and watch till tomorrow!! The team, actually, selects itself except for a couple of new faces who could be rewarded for their domestic performances. According to me the team could well be as follows: 01.Gautam Gambhir 02.Ajinkya Rahane 03.Cheteshwara Pujara 04.Virat Kohli 05.Sachin Tendulkar 06.Virender Sehwag 07.M S Dhoni 08.Harbhajan Singh 09.Pragyan Ojha 10.Sreesanth 11.Bhuvneshwar Kumar - 12.Dhawal Kulkarni 13.Jalaj Saxena 14.R Ashwin 15.Abhishek Na .. ...
One more fantastic inning by Sachin Tendulkar again Rest of India in Irani Trophy...Overall I would say It was fantastic performance by Mumbai batsmen against relatively stronger bowing attack of Rest of India. Rest of India have almost all the international players in their team, right from Harbhajan Singh, Sreesanth, Suresh Raina, Pragyan Ojha to Murli Vijay, Abhimanyu Mithun, Manoj Tiwari everybody is playing from Rest of India. So, I would rate wasim jaffer, Ajinkya Rahane and Sachin Tendulkar's innings were better than Murli Vijay and Suresh Raina as Mumbai players were playing against better bowling attack. Even if you lose this game, I would say Mumbai players you have done a great job...This time we want more number of Mumbai players in Indian Test team..Last but not the least young Ankit Chavan, u have really batted well...Selectors, this is a time to consider Mumbai players ahead of stupid Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag...
Dear All, The following is just a wild imagination, an attempt to mock the contemporary Indian cricketers, of course only pun intended. This fun exercise is done only for entertainment and not to belittle any of our proud esteemed cricketers.    So, what would be the names of the autobiography, if our cricketers were to write one:     M S Dhoni: Yeah of course… I am lucky!   Virendar Sehwag: I see Balls… I hit Balls   Gautam Gambhir: How to deal with Pakistanis & SRK   Rahane: The Art of warming benches   Rohit Sharma: My Experiments with the Indian Team   Virat Kohli: My Journey - From B*C to BCci   Yuvraj: I am the PLAYER!    R Jadeja: M.S Dhoni - The legend    Suresh Raina: M.S. Dhoni – The legend. Part 2    R Aswin: How I bowled with a bat    Irfan Pathan: Who am I? (Bowler? Batsman?)    Yusuf Pathan:  Ban the short stuff    Harbhajan Singh: I hate Idli - Sambar    Zaheer Khan:  My best is yet to come     Praveen Kumar - I ball maiden only new ball    Dinesh Karthi ...
New Year resolutions of Indian cricketers - Virender Sehwag: I will stop dreaming about the captaincy. Gautam Gambhir: I will work on my run-out problem. I will only score in boundaries and refuse to run any runs. Virat Kohli: I will work on my range and add more abuses to MC BC. I don’t want to get typecast. Sachin Tendulkar: I will silence the people calling for my retirement with a cent...ury. Cheteshwar Pujara: I will stop standing at Forward Short Leg and I will never run when Gambhir calls me for a run Ravindra Jadeja: I will stop making these triple centuries. People have mistaken me for a test player, may affect my IPL price. MS Dhoni: I will start making my own pitches. Ishant Sharma: I will get a hair cut. Rohit Sharma: I will finally tell everyone, yahan koi talent valent nahin hai bhaiya, mujhe baksho! Manoj Tiwary: I will get off this *** bench and play for India. Sreesanth: I will try to enter Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. More likely to get an entry there than the Indian team. Harbhajan Singh: K ...
Its really ridiculous that Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir retained in first three ODI against England And Sehwag is out.Wat remarkable they had done in present team god knows ?? Wat about Harbhajan Singh wen Ashwin is doing average ?? And even Murli Vijay,Abhinav Mukund in place of Gambhir ?

Gautam Gambhir has played all three T20I's , he twice went for a duck.
India have big questions to answer in the aftermath of the Kolkata Test and the biggest surrounds the attitude of their near god-like top names. When the likes of MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir and the rest went back to their hotel rooms after that defeat, how much were they hurting? How much hunger for the long-haul form of the game -- with its mental and physical demands -- have these multi- millionaire players still got? Are they thinking, deep down, "Never mind", and prioritising instead the fun, glamour and huge financial rewards that come from the Indian Premier League? That is the crux of the issue now for India. The last thing their cricket needs, really, is a win in Nagpur and a share of this series because all that would do is paper over the cracks. They would believe everything is okay. India left Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh out of their squad for the final Test but it is attitudes as much as personnel that need to change. India will always have some good young players but what kind ...
India collapse has England on brink of victory 25 November 2012 12:42 England are on course for a stunning victory in the second Test after reducing India to 117-7 at stumps on day three in Mumbai. Gautam Gambhir battled his way to 53 off 109 balls with Harbhajan Singh (one) the other batsman at the crease after Monty Panesar (5-61) and Graeme Swann (2-39) ran through the Indian top order in the second innings. The hosts lead by just 31 runs. India began their second innings in the final session and looked in trouble immediately after England were bowled out for 413, for an 86-run advantage thanks to Alastair Cook (122) and Kevin Pietersen (186). Virender Sehwag (nine) was dismissed in the eighth over as he played forward to a well-pitched Panesar delivery that turned sharply away, with Swann taking the resulting edge easily at gully. The in-form Cheteshwar Pujara (six) fell seven runs later as a Swann delivery took the inside edge and went into the hands of Jonny Bairstow at short leg. Sachin Tendulkar ( ...
funny ways to attract spectators for test matches Here are a few ideas of BCCI to get the crowds back to the test cricket: 1) Gift coupons worth Rs 500/- to every spectator for every time Gautam Gambhir gets out for nicking a ball going outside the off stump. Earning Rs 1000/- per match by just spending not more than 20 minutes in the stands is not a bad idea! 2) Free cellphone talk time of Rs 50/- to every spectator, for every time Virat Kohli says MCBC (but no prizes here for guessing the expansion of the acronym). 3) There will be special prizes every time a spectator catches the ball in the stands. Some sources added that this is the reason behind Harbhajan Singh being picked for the Test series against England. 4) Poonam Pandey will be made a permanent member in BCCI under the entertainment section to mesmerize the spectators in the time gap between sessions. 5) A facility will be provided to the spectators to shift from the stands to special enclosures having beds for taking a nap (this facility wil ...
Reasons Why India is out of World T20 2012: 1 . Giving Preferance to Rohit Sharma over in-form Manoj Tiwary Indian Captain MS Dhoni has not given a single chance to Manoj Tiwary even when Rohit failed so many times before World Cup andduring the World Cup. He Gave Oppertunity to Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla but didnt thought to rest Gautam Gambhir and give chance to Manoj Tiwary. 2. Failure to put up Big totals Indian team suffered to put up a big score in the tournament even after having such a strong line up which always perform in IPL and is known to be T20 expert. The reason behind this failure is Sehwag and Gambhir. Not even single time they tried to stay at wicket for 5 overs.. they have capability to hit the bowlers all round the park and they were biggest asset for India in the tournament but they failed to givea good start and result is India is no more in race to win the trophy 3. ashing opener Virender Sehwag was back for India as Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat in the World Twenty20 Super Eights group two at Premedasa stadium on Sunday. Pakistan kept the same line-up which beat South Africa by two wickets in Colombo on Friday. Sehwag was surprisingly left out of the Indian team which lost to Australia by nine wickets in the first Super Eights match on Friday. Sehwag and fast bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji were brought in for Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla. If Pakistan win this match they will qualify for the semi-finals along with Australia from the group. In case of an Indian victory, all four teams will go into the last matches on Tuesday with a chance to reach the last four. Australia moved closer to the semi-finals after recording their second win in as many matches by thumping South Africa by eight wickets earlier in the day. India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin, ...
apna captian to sabse fisidi nikla yar. Dhoni’s strike-rate of 109 in international T20 matches is the lowest among all the players who have played more than one innings. In the 15-member Indian squad only Manoj Tiwary (strike rate of 88 from one match), Ashok Dinda (strike rate of 95 from one match), Piyush Chawla (not batted in the three matches that he has played) and L Balaji (not played a single match) are below the Indian captain in terms of strike rate. Yes, the list includes the bowlers as well, Harbhajan Singh with a strike rate of 120, Zaheer Khan (130), Irfan Pathan (125), R Ashwin (124) are far ahead of Dhoni’s strike-rate which is 109.When it comes to comparing Dhoni to the batsmen then the Indian captain lacks far behind in terms of scoring runs per hundred bowls. Everyone from Gautam Gambhir (122), Virender Sehwag (152), Virat Kohli (134), Rohit Sharma (127), Suresh Raina (137) and Yuvraj Singh (150) are much above Dhoni when it comes to scoring runs quickly.
India: The former Twenty Twenty World champions are in great shape at the moment. The team has had some good seasons in the home grounds and are expected to do well in the in the sub continental pitches which has a reputation of favoring the batsmen. It is known to all that India has one of the most dreaded batting lineups in the world. Therefore, expectations are high with the Indian Cricket team in this tournament. Another great news is that team will have the flamboyant batsman; Yuvraj Singh in the squad and so, one may expect a session of six sixes in an over. The squad of the Indian team for t20 World Cup 2012 is: Lakshmipathy Balaji, Ravichandran Ashwin, Piyush Chawla, Ashok Dinda, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicket keeper and captain), Gautam Gambhir, Ashok Dinda, Virat Kohli, Zaheer Khan, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Manoj Tiwary.
Cheteshwar Pujara's century is his first in Tests. He went past his previous best of 72 on debut against Australia in Bangalore in 2010. Pujara's century is the fourth in Hyderabad and the second by an Indian batsman after Harbhajan Singh's 111. The other two centuries have been scored by New Zealand batsmen. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir became the tenth batting pair to aggregate 4000 partnership runs in Tests. The list is headed by Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, who have an aggregate of 6920 runs. The 125-run stand between Pujara and Virat Kohli is joint third on the list of best partnerships in Hyderabad. It is also eighth on the list of top fourth-wicket stands for India against New Zealand. Tendulkar has now been bowled 49 times in Tests. Only Dravid (55) and Allan Border (53) have been bowled more often.
Test Captaincy - Gambhir not an Option Media seems to be an optimum line of work for most of our former cricketers. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are talking sense, with all due respect. For example, take the case of one of India's greatest captains, Sourav Ganguly. While on tour in Australia, he proposed that Virender Sehwag can replace MS Dhoni as Test captain. A month later, when Sehwag was 'rested' from the Asia Cup squad, he spoke about how Dhoni shouldkeep doing his job, but that Virat Kohli should be groomed quickly enough. When the IPL began and Mumbai Indians beat Pune Warriors, he talked up Harbhajan Singh's chances of becoming India captain. And now that Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL trophy, obviously then his choice for Test captaincy is Gautam Gambhir. If you are not a die-hard Ganguly fan - and believe it or not there are quite a few of those around - the ambiguity of his statements becomes crystal clear. He is simply playing to the gallery every time a microphone is shove ...

Chasing mammoth 183-run target, Kolkata Knight Riders lost their third wicket in the form of Manoj Tiwary against Mumbai Indians in their IPL clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Mumbai Indians' Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha dismissed Gautam Gambhir and Manvinder Bisla respectively to give Kolkata Knight Riders early blows. Earlier, Rohit Sharma notched up an unbeaten 109 off 60 balls to propel Mumbai Indians to 182/1 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Sharma played a *** of an innings, smacking 12 fours and five sixes in his scintillating knock. Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs stitched an unbeaten 167-run partnership for the second wicket in 17.4 overs to help Mumbai post the stiff target for Kolkata. Herschelle Gibbs, who is playing first match of this season, supported his partner exceptionally well and as he remained unbeaten on 66 off 58 balls. Gibbs and Rohit kept their cool after losing Sachin Tendulkar as they took Mumbai Indians past 100 runs in the 12th over. Gibbs and Rohit added 50-run stand for t ...
