Soon after Gabriel Sherman began investigating Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes for a new book, he  started to feel like he was being investigated, too. Putnam County has a place in Gabriel Sherman's biography of Roger Ailes, which is now on the NY Times' bestseller list. In an interview on WNYC with Leonard Lopate today, he said Phillipstown was a perfect example of how Ailes attacks. He is attempting with all his money and power to turn a left leaning little country town into a right wing one. Sherman added that it was astounding how much energy and money he has put into this project - that he seems paranoidly obsessed with it.
Answer 2 Thursday's QUIZ QUESTION: College Class of 2018--they will enter college next fall and will be the first for whom the motto "fair and balanced" has always been self-applied to the Fox News Network (which started in 1996). Some observers think the network's partisan slant makes the motto absurd, while others say that such a slant is a needed corrective (balance) to a liberals-dominated news media. One of the most controversial of the Fox News figures is its president, Roger Ailes (below), recently the subject of a debated new biography by Gabriel Sherman.

So last weekend I went to the book store and bought the new Gabriel Sherman unauthorized Roger Ailes biography 'The Loudest Voice in the Room' and a relatively recent Sara Paretsky V.I. Warshawksi novel 'Break Down' that I had missed when it first came out. Completely coincidentally the Paretsky novel is about a news as entertainment right wing cable network with a rabid lying news anchor. Today I start the Ailes biolgraphy. I will report on it soon. 'Break Down' was Sara Paretsky at her best and I am a huge fan of her work. If you all have not read her stuff I strongly recommend it.

The long-fought PR battle over revelations coming out of Gabriel Sherman's forthcoming Roger Ailes biography has begun this week.
For a window into how the MSM does its dirty work, we need only look at Wednesday’s New York Times. Yes, it’s just one example of a million, but it’s revealing. Here’s the deal: The two most important executives in cable media—perhaps the two most important executives in media, period—have an argument 18 years ago that allegedly brought out an anti-Semitic slur. Actually, there’s nothing “allegedly” about it at all, because both men say that it never happened. Case closed, right? Wrong. The Times reported today on an upcoming book by Gabriel Sherman, a “Bernard Schwartz Fellow” at the left-leaning, Soros-backed New America Foundation, alleging an altercation almost 20 years ago at CNBC where Roger Ailes called his rival David Zaslav an “obscene” name which included the words “little” and “Jewish.” Both men deny the incident happened, and both ...

Fox News chief calls conservative giant the P-word Also unloads on Obama, Biden in new bio Vice President Joe Biden is as “dumb as an ashtray,” President Obama is “lazy” and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is a *** ” according to Fox News chief Roger Ailes. His personal judgments on Washington are contained in an upcoming biography, “Roger Ailes Off Camera,” by Zev Chafets. Vanity Fair has published excerpts. The magazine’s online article describes Ailes as “one of the most powerful – and controversial – characters in television media, pilloried by critics and many in the mainstream media and lionized by conservative viewers who can’t get enough of his posse of charismatic hosts.” Another upcoming biography on Ailes, this one unauthorized and penned by magazine media reporter Gabriel Sherman, will be released this year. Vanity Fair notes that while Sherman has for years covered the media, Chafets enjoyed unprecedented access to Ailes. On the issue of the nation’s second . ...

Sarah Palin and not Gabriel Sherman could write the book that brings down Roger Ailes , FoxNews ,and Rupert Murdoch .
Fox opposes ban on assault weapons but imposes ban on talking about it. The most heartbreaking news of 2012 was surely the massacre in Newtown, CT, where 20 schoolchildren and six adults were senselessly murdered by a deranged gunman. The resultant outcry from concerned Americans about the easy access to weapons that are capable of such carnage was met by Fox News as an attack on the Second Amendment and free enterprise. Its response was to slaughter the First Amendment by prohibiting any discussion of gun safety on the network. Sources told Gabriel Sherman of New York Magazine that “David Clark, the executive producer in charge of Fox’s weekend coverage, gave producers instructions not to talk about gun-control policy on air.” It’s also worthwhile to note that while Fox banned all talk of gun control, it did not banish talk of other explanations for the atrocity in Connecticut. Fox had no problem with laying the blame on mental illness, movies or video games. Fox host Mike Huckabee was permitted ...

From "Inside Cable News" HBO Planning Movie Based on Upcoming Ailes Book…and EP’d by Morning Joe Duo… Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke scoops that HBO is planning a movie based on the upcoming Gabriel Sherman book on Roger Ailes and the movie will be executive produced by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. You just can’t make this stuff up… I’ve also learned that executive producing this latest HBO project are two of Ailes’ competitors: Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, the co-hosts of MSNBC‘s Morning Joe.
