Some Major Play at the Monster - I think it's a bit unusual, and that's why I noticed it. Of the top eight players on the WGC-Cadillac scoreboard, six of them are major winners: Tiger Woods (14) Graeme McDowell (1) Phil Mickelson (4) Bubba Watson (1) Charl Schwartzel (1) Keegan Bradley (1) The other two non-major winners, Steve Stricker and Fredrik Jacobson, are both extremely good ball-strikers and putters... and not power hitters...
So, after just looking at the WGC-Accenture Match Play brackets(and trying to deal with March Madness fever!), I must say that I could see a lot of first round upsets. The upset picks I like are as follows: (14)Russell Henley over (3)Charl Schwartzel in the Jones Bracket (15)K.J. Choi over (2)Justin Rose, (12)Fredrik Jacobson over (5)Ernie Els, and (10)Nicolas Colsaerts over (7)Bill Haas in the Hogan Bracket (13)Henrik Stenson over (4)Steve Stricker and (11)John Senden over (6)Bo Van Pelt in the Snead Bracket. The only reason I don't have an upset pick for the Player Bracket is the (6)Hunter Mahan-(11)Matteo Manassero and (7)Martin Kaymer-(10)George Coetzee matches are actually pretty even so it wouldn't shock me it the lower seeds win. Thoughts?
I can't decide who has the best soul patch in the field this week. IMO it's a toss up between Fredrik Jacobson and Dustin Johnson. I'm going on a hunch with Carl Pettersson to win this weeks match play format. Does he have a chance to pull it off?
Just because I'm critical of some PGA players and the control exerted over them, it doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the talent and skills of even the one's that I don't like. The question is often asked, do you hate every tour player? The answer is no. I like Tiger, David Duval, Luke Donald, Fredrik Jacobson, Rickie Fowler, Jason Dufner, Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker, Louis Oosthuizen and Ian Poulter just name a few. I don't pull for a player simply because they are from the USA and I have specific reasons for not liking certain players. The great thing about Shark Attack Golf is that we don't expect your list to sync with ours but you can count on one thing, anytime an effort is made to force feed a player to the public.we will most likely avoid that player like we do pop music and for the same reasons.
I tee off today at 10:19AM (PST) with John Merrick and Fredrik Jacobson in the final round of the Northern Trust Open -
WGC Match-Play News: Brandt Snedeker and Phil Mickelson have withdrawn from next week's match-play event. Snedeker cites sore ribs and Mickelson has family obligations. They will be replaced by Shane Lowry and Fredrik Jacobson (no's 65 and 66 in the world rankings). The WGC match-play event features the top 64 players in the world rankings in a "one left standing" match-play event. Players are seeded based on their world ranking position into one of four brackets with playing playing and so on until the four bracket winners face off then down to two and finally the champion is crowned. As we've seen in the past, anyone can win this event. As I've mentioned earlier this week, we are hosting a FREE online WGC match-play pool. Details were published earlier this week and will be published again on Monday. Prizes will be awarded and all it takes is for you to pick your winners for each match. Points are awarded for each correct pick and the person with the most total points wins it all. Prizes will be announc ...
Shane Lowry just makes the Accenture World Matchplay Shane Lowry gained entry to the elite event thanks to the last ditch efforts of American Patrick Reed at the US PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am last week. With Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson needing to finish seventh on his own at Pebble Beach if he was to push Lowry down to 66th in the world, Reed holed a 12-foot birdie putt on the last hole for a two-way tie for seventh with Jacobson. That meant Jacobson moved up only to Number 66 - just 0.0002 points behind Lowry. At World Number 65, Lowry qualifies following the withdrawal of American Phil Mickelson, who returned to the top ten of the World Ranking with his victory in the recent Waste Management Phoenix Open on the US PGA Tour. Padraig Harrington is back amongst the elite also following his good early season form which sees him currently ranked 48th in the official rankings. Richard Sterne has been rewarded for his scintillating recent form with a place in the 64-man field at next week’s W ...

Check out the following players:          Charles Howell III has won $24.6 million with only two career victories. Since his last win at the 2007 Nissan Open, he has played in 171 events with earnings of $11.1 million and no victories.          Of the top 38 players on the career money list, Howell has the fewest wins.
