When I hear the song "Romance" by Wild Flag, for some reason I always think of Fred Armisen. Probs because Carrie Brownstein wrote it lel
Portlandia Live at Bowery Ballroom in 2012 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin) Fred Armisen (SNL, Ian Rubbish) and Carrie Brownstein's (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag) quirky IFC comedy Portlandia is returning for its fourth season on February 27, but ahead of that,...
Tomorrow on "Talking Animals," I'll be speaking with Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney, "Portlandia," Wild Flag), and we'll probably invite some phone calls so you can speak with her, too. Talking Animals" tomorrow, Weds June 6, at 11am ET, on WMNF (88.5 FM) in Tampa, streaming live online at WMNF.org. thanks!
Fred Armisen just stood next to us at the Wild Flag show at the Fillmore.
The benefits of rainy weather: I watched Pedro Almodovar's latest film The Skin I Live In. It's a departure from his past work; same complex storyline, sweeping camerawork, beautiful colors and decor, but in a curiously Almodovar-ized sci-fi/horror genre. I also saw Werner Herzog's latest documentary Into the Abyss, an examination of two men about to be executed for a triple homicide. Not one of his best, but if you're a Herzog fan -- which I certainly am -- it's certainly worth watching. I also watched the entire hilarious series of Portlandia, written by and starring Saturday Night Live cast member Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, lead guitarist/singer for Portland band Wild Flag.
Got a ticket to Pitchfork for Saturday. Hoping Fred Armisen makes a cameo during Wild Flag's set to bust out some Portlandia skits.
Just got to see Wild Flag with Kathleen Hanna and Fred Armisen in the audience. And it's my birthday. And they played a Fugazi cover.
Fred Armisen is definitely at this Wild Flag show. No joke!
