Frank Lampard looks back on last night's game, and seeing Didier Drogba again:
Samuel Eto'o 's goal was the 300 th of his club career. All nine of his strikes in Chelsea blue have come at Stamford Bridge. He is the first player since Didier Drogba to score against Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham in the same league season, the Ivorian having managed that feat in 2009/10. Frank Lampard started his 400 th Premier League game for Chelsea, and also moved above David James as the second all-time record appearance maker in the Premier League. It was his 573 rd game in England's top flight.

CHELSEA TOP TEN FLOP OF ALL TIME The poorest players to tarnish the pitch at Stamford Bridge. For every Didier Drogba there is a Robert Fleck and for every Frank Lampard there's a Juan Sebastian Veron - here is Chelsea's 10 worst signings of all time. 10. Juan Sebastian Veron This Argentine star just couldn't cope in England, failing to live up to a £28.1m price-tag at Manchester United and failing similarly when the Blues paid £15m just two years later. 9. Brian Laudrup The Danish legend and former AC Milan and Bayern Munich ace was well past the forward's best when arriving in west London in 1998 and managed just seven appearances. 8. Slavisa Jokanovic Many could be forgiven for having forgotten about Claudio Ranieri's first signing as manager in 2000 and the Serbian departed in 2002 as a very unpopular figure with the club. 7. Andriy Shevchenko A signing forced upon the team by the owner Roman Abramovich and at £30.1m one of their most expensive mistakes, with 22 goals in three years. 6. Chris Sutto ...

Jose Mourinho last night ruled out making an "impossible" move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Edinson Cavani, as they are "happy in Paris. I know because we are friends." Manchester United are offering Toni Kroos £250,000-a-week to quit Bayern Munich and join David Moyes' cash-laden revolution. Bacary Sagna wants Arsenal to "wake up" and offer him a £24m deal if they do not want avoid losing him to a Premier League rival. Arsenal's 'Mozart' Tomas Rosicky has committed his future to the club by agreeing a new 12-month contract. Frank Lampard has revealed that Didier Drogba is tense about facing his former club for the first time since that momentous night in Munich in 2012. Drogba vs Terry...Two of football's greatest warriors prepare to go head-to-head as Blues legend comes back to the Bridge Picture the scene. Wembley, April 2012, FA Cup semi-final, Chelsea v Tottenham, pre-match. Didier Drogba focussed, intense, driven, geeing up his team-mates in the warm-up area before the game. 'Will you look at him,' said John Terry, to Frank Lampard. 'We're not going to lose today.' After 43 minutes Lampard looked up and fired a long, testing ball towards the Ivorian. He took it down well, with his back to goal, spun past William Gallas in a flash and bludgeoned the ball into the top corner from 20 yards. Chelsea went on to win 5-1. It was a magnificent goal, out of nothing. Drogba's ability to produce such moments - and so often on the grandest occasions - gave Chelsea a self-belief, it rescued games for them even when playing poorly. Terry knew, before the match, that a pumped-up Drogba would be able to win his side the game. And that means he knows the danger that lies ahead for C ...

He'sjust fabulous." - Sir Alex Ferguson "Give him some better finishing power, and a raving for goals; and he will give CR7 and Messi a run for their money." - Arsene Wenger "He just has to increase his goals tally, and England will forget who's Gareth Bale." - Rafael Benitez "There is a Ballon D'or, if notmore, waiting for him in future." - Paul Scholes "The only way to stop him is to foul him." - Theo Walcott "I can just say that when i played against him, I felt that I'm struggling with Cristiano." - Ryan Giggs "He's the third best player in the world, and mind it, he'll prove my saying." - Jose Mourinho "The fall of LOSC is the only thing he ...
Chelsea were once branded as "old" by Sir Alex Ferguson. In 2008 he was quoted as wondering how a team "in their thirties" could possibly progress and improve. It was clear to see where he was coming from. At the time, Chelsea were a team whose first eleven primarily consisted of players over the age of 30. This included Ricardo Carvalho, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, Deco and Didier Drogba. The club decided to take affirmative action to rectify this problem and sought to reduce the average age of their squad. They did this in two ways. Firstly, by dipping into the market to find potential as opposed to the finished product for an inflated price. This paid dividends as players like Oscar, Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois were acquired at young ages and with plenty of time to develop. The second plan of action was to invest in the academy. This has led to Chelsea taking part in four of the last six FA Youth Cup Finals and winning twice, whilst also coming runners-up in las ...

no on to adapt is nothing particularly new here. I have been here five years and going back to Carlo Ancelotti's team playing with Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka playing behind Didier Drogba with three soldiers in midfield, Frank Lampard had to adapt and get out to defend against full-backs because Anelka wasn't asked to do that in the role he played. 'It changed with Andre Villas-Boas to 4-3-3 and Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata had to chase the full-backs, and with Roberto Di Matteo that changed a little bit and Salomon Kalou and Ramires played wide. Mata played in the no. 10 role for the first time really at Chelsea. 'With Rafa Benitez it again changed a little, a bit more of a compromise. Oscar was asked then to play wide and Ramires, especially in the bigger games. When Juan's role was the no. 10 it was another adaptation that was required and he has shown here he is more than capable of doing that, and that will be the case this time.' Changing the identity of the team in terms of the way it goes ...
SIMPLE AND OPEN TRUTH TO CONFIRM THAT JOSE MORINHO IS NOT THE RIGHT MAN TO HANDLE THIS CHELSEA SQUAD. It is a surprise that Chelsea lost on Wednesday night but I am not surprised that it was a difficult game, as Basel are an up-and-coming club. Having said that, you would expect Chelsea to beat them. However, this squad isn’t a Jose Mourinho-type squad. Mourinho likes to control games, but this Blues squad is weighed down with attacking players. What he wants is a young John Terry, Frank Lampard or Didier Drogba - instead what he has got is these fantastic flair players, but that’s not how he plays. He must take some responsibility as he had time to make signings, but failed to get the players who'd have fitted his philosophy. Romelu Lukaku is the nearest they had to a Drogba, but to send him out on loan is a typical cautious Mourinho move. He weighed it all up and wants a proven player at the business end of the season, so he gone with someone he worked with before in Samuel Eto'o. We have seen that ...
Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, and John Terry. Three players high loyalty and legends forever.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insists his older players are key to the club's legacy. As Chelsea returned for pre-season training for the first time under Jose Mourinho in six years, he insisted that his old players were crucial to the club's 'legacy'. Last season, it seemed the likes of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and captain John Terry could be playing their final seasons for the club as reports claimed that owner Roman Abramovich wanted a new look. However, after his first day back on the job, Mourinho was quick to emphasise the importance of his old guard. "This is the legacy of the club culture - as some guys are arriving they have others who can transmit to them immediately what this club means," Mourinho told The Sun. "One day, these older players will finish and the younger guys now will be the older ones in the future, so the Chelsea culture is continuously passed on from one generation to the next." Mourinho also singled out the example of his former star Didier Drogba, who became a club legend. "I ...

Chelsea: Mourinho's five worst signings Chelsea opinion: A look back at Jose Mourinho's worst buys from his first spell at Stamford Bridge The return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge has evoked memories of the great team he built during his first reign as he added the likes of Ricardo Carvalho, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba to a team already containing John Terry, Frank Lampard and Claude Makelele. However, these impressive signings have shrouded some of Mourinho's poorer dealings in the transfer market. Here is a list containing five of the the worst. 1. Andriy Shevchenko Former Ukraine captain and AC Milan legend Shevchenko was brought to the Bridge in 2006 for a hefty sum of around £30million. However, the striker failed to produce the form that led to him being awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2004, scoring a measly 22 goals in 77 appearances. Whether the signing was made by Mourinho is questionable - Shevchenko's friendship with chairman Roman Abramovich and Mourinho's initial reluctance to play him sugg ...

Florent Malouda, one of the finest French players of his generation, and a key component of the Chelsea squad that boasted of the likes of Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole, etc has decided to make a graceful exit from Stamford Bridge. The 32 year old winger decided to put his hard feelings towards the Blues behind him and bid Chelsea a happy and proud goodbye. Malouda wrote on his official website: “It’s been a real pleasure and an honor to wear the blue shirt for 5 years...Over the five years I’ve defended the club’s colors, I’ve really enjoyed the great moments I lived amongst players and technical staff with the aim to deserve the daily support from our loyal fans, and I always tried to make them proud. Every good thing must come to an end, and even if I had to wait for a whole season at the club’s academy, I’m very proud of all my achievements as a Chelsea player. I’m free now to carry on my career, so I wish all the best to all my blue friends; I ...
If Chelsea with the ageing legs of Didier Drogba, John Terry and Frank Lampard could lift the Uefa Champions League in 2012; and with a newly assembled team built around the three musketeers, Mata, Hazard and Oscar - clinching a Europa League medal in their maiden season in 2013 even with a misfiring striker in Fernando Torres... Jose Mourinho should be able to conquer the world with the trio. Especially with the inclusion of a prolific striker who can poach in goals at will.
True Blue! DOWN THE MEMOMERY LANE. The last team Jose Morinho featured for Chelsea in his last game for the club ended in a one all draw for Chelsea and Rosenborg on September 18, 2007. This was a CL group game at Stamford Bridge. The Team list is: Peter Cech (GK) Juliano Belletti (RB) John Terry (CB) Alex (CB) Ashley Cole (LB) Claude Makalele (DM) Michael Essien (CM) Joe Cole ( AM) Salomon Kaluo (RW) Florent Malouda (LW) Andriy Shevchenko (CF) Substitutes: Carlo Cudicini, Steve Sidwell, John Obi Mikel, Paula Ferreira, Shawn Wright Phillips, Tal Ben Hiam, Lee Sawyer. NB: Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Ricardo Carvalho were prominent players in the squad but were all injured for the game.
Great piece by Michael Cox. There are a lot of similarities with what we wrote this morning. Terry & Lampard Present Jose's Toughest Test Throughout the six years since Jose Mourinho's departure from Chelsea, the ghost of the Portuguese manager has haunted his successors. When Andre Villas-Boas was struggling to get the squad on board with his project, his former President at Porto explained one of his problems. "He needs time to mould his own team," said Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. "And he can't do that as long as there are players, as I've heard, who exchange text messages with Mourinho. And Roman Abramovich knows this." Mourinho's spine of Petr Cech, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba remained intact until last summer and his general footballing principles have been obvious throughout that period too. Mourinho's Chelsea were about power rather than guile, and arguably only the signing of Juan Mata in 2011 made the Blues a more artistic, inventive side. Throughout the past couple of years, th ...

Chelsea's highest appearance-maker is ex-captain Ron Harris, who played in 795 first-class games for the club between 1961 and 1980.[76] This record is unlikely to be broken in the near future; Chelsea's current highest appearance-maker is Frank Lampard with 590.[77] The record for a Chelsea goalkeeper is held by Harris's contemporary, Peter Bonetti, who made 729 appearances (1959–79). With 93 caps (91 while at the club), Frank Lampard of England is Chelsea's most capped international player. Bobby Tambling is Chelsea's all-time top goalscorer, with 202 goals in 370 games (1959–70).[76] Eight other players have also scored over 100 goals for Chelsea: George Hilsdon (1906–12), George Mills (1929–39), Roy Bentley (1948–56), Jimmy Greaves (1957–61), Peter Osgood (1964–74 and 1978–79), Kerry Dixon (1983–92), Frank Lampard (2001–) and Didier Drogba (2004–12). Greaves holds the record for the most goals scored in one season (43 in 1960–61). Lampard is the top scorer currently at the club ...
WHAT DO WE DO FRIENDS? Any team that can call on the collective powers of The Hazardous Hazard, Frank Lampard, Oscar, Juan Mata, Victor Moses, Mikel Obi and Marko Marin will always have a chance to demolish any team in Europe. But, the lone strikers system of Benitez is not working with Torres. Manchester City await on Sunday and Roberto Mancini will hardly have lost any sleep last night over what he saw. He has been critical of the strikers he has at his disposal this season. God knows what he would say about Torres. It is a simple fact of football that against better sides in big matches, chances are harder to come by — Chelsea cannot afford to waste them if they are to finish in the top four and lift at least one trophy. Torres is a lost soul. Playing him in rotation with Didier Drogba didn’t work. Playing him all the time didn’t work. Buying a team to model Spain, thereby tailoring the style of play to suit him didn’t work. Bringing in the man who made him great at Liverpool didn’t work. Wha ...
In nearly 15 years, Eto'o played five finals and won three titles with lions in different categories. Here is a comparison with players of his generation in the world: - Messi, top of its five balls of gold won the Olympics in 2008 and has never played final with Argentina Senior - Christiano Ronaldo [Portugal] - 0 Final - Zlatan Ibrahimovich [Sweden] - 0 Final - Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney [England] never crossed the quarter-finals of an international competition; - Didier Drogba - 0 as - EL Hadj Diouf - 0 as ... To mention only a few. French players, Spain, Brazil, Italy and Egypt are the only ones to have been more successful than the last 15 years these Cameroonians. I think Cameroonians have quickly forgotten why they like Eto'o and why they are so proud
Three biggest mistakes of Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich! 1) Fallout with Jose Mourhino. 2) Letting star striker Didier Drogba go, which he himself regretted later and tried to get him back. 3) Sacking Roberto Di Matteo, which cost him dearly and might give him a trophy less season. If he can't learn from these mistakes and give a new contract to Frank Lampard, that fellow frankly is one *** of a crazy! -SFR
Abramovich should have learned the lesson. Player power drove Mourinho out. Player power drove Scolari out. Player power isolated Fernando Torres. Player power drove AvB out. John Terry, Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda, Frank Lampard, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien, Jon Obi Mikel...etc. As many titles as they may have won for Chelsea, their professional attitude stinks. Who in the world are these low-life donkeys to decide any managers' or team mates' fate? They show no respect for Abramovich's decisions and choices and show it in the performance. If they dun like the manager, they play inconsistently to ensure the manager gets the flak from the press. And torres suffers from the selfishness of this clique. Simply disgraceful players. 6△1▽ • Reply • Share ›

Frank Lampard is in Chelsea contract talks: what is really going on? Lampard's Chelsea deal expires at the end of the season, and he is this month free to agree a pre-contract deal with another side. He is not, despite what some rumours may say, about to leave Chelsea during January: his contract will not let him walk away, and Chelsea will not pay the £4m cost of sacking him. There are strong echoes of what happened last season with Didier Drogba: where the Ivorian held out for the best deal. In Drogba's case, he had already agreed to move to Shanghai Shenhua in January – no such move appears to be on the table for Lampard at this stage. The midfielder, who has now scored three times in a week for Chelsea, has been clear for some time there has been no recent dialogue between him and the club over his future. He says he is only thinking about remaining True Blue, and is desperate to do a deal. On Friday a story broke, saying that he was willing to take a £100k a week pay cut in order to stay. My info ...

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is set to deliver a contract snub to skipper John Terry. The Blues skipper is set to become the latest player to feel the wrath of the Russian billionaire, who has still not forgiven him, Frank Lampard and former star Didier Drogba for failing to back ex-boss Andre Villas-Boas. Terry’s current contract runs until the end of the next season, and despite the club backing him all the way through his race-row trial and subsequent ban from the FA for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, Abramovich is reluctant to offer him a New Deal. Terry’s advisers tested the water recently about opening talks in the new year. But it is understood they will snubbed by Chelsea’s hierarchy on the orders of Abramovich, who is determined to lower the average age of the squad and remove those who are seen to hold too much influence.
chelsea 8-0 wigan Chelsea went into the final day of the 2009/10 Premier League season knowing a victory would secure their first league title win since 2006. Premiership rivals Manchester Utd emphatically beat Stoke 4-0 on the last day, but this couldn't be matched by the Blues 8-0 demolition of Wigan at Stamford Bridge. Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba both found the net twice, while Ashley Cole, Salomon Kalou and Frank Lampard also found the net. In addition to earning a shiny trophy, Carlo Ancelotti's men became the first team in English history to score seven or more goals on four occasions in a league season. They also became the first Premier League side to score a hundred or more goals in a season after putting away a club-record 103 goals in the campaign. Wigan finished the season with the league's worst goals difference (minus-42). This was the second time in 2009/10 that they had been beaten by an eight-goal deficit in London.
Yet another link for Frank Lampard this time to Monaco. He has been linked with a number of clubs including LA Galaxy, where David Beckham has just left, Shanghai Shenhua which is turning out to be a meeting place for Chelsea greats, such as Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka. He has also been linked with Beijing Guoan, Guizhou Renhe, Inter Milan, Arsenal, QPR and the latest, Monaco. This is a sad time for Chelsea FC as it seems as if we are going to lose another of the Chelsea greats.
John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. Chelsea will do well to replicate that spine.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge as Roberto Di Matteo starts the process of replacing Chelsea's old guard, with the England midfielder's contract is up in June. Nicolas Anelka has launched an attack on his former club Chelsea after accusing the team of disposing of players once they reach 30. "At Chelsea, as soon as you get past 30, you get the impression you’re too old," the Express reports Anelka as saying. The Frenchman’s comments come after Florent Malouda, 32, was banished to train with the Chelsea youth team after being unable to agree to a move away from the club. The France international was an influential member of the squad two seasons ago but has drifted from the first team and now finds himself training with the youngsters. "It’s sad what’s happening to Flo [Malouda]. Two years ago, he was named player of the year,” he said. It is not just Malouda and Anelka. 2009/10 Chelsea read the script, learnt it and performed it perfectly. There simply cannot be any better way to seala league title than with a club's record top-flight win and in doing so, Carlo Ancelotti 's magnificent side not only securedthe club's fourth championship but did so with a Premier League record number of goals scored - smashing the century to move onto 103 league goals for the season - a newclub record in any division. Any tension in this game soon evaporated when Nicolas Anelka fired in with just five minutes gone. Three more goals, a Frank Lampard penalty and strikes from Salomon Kalou and another from Anelka, were netted before Didier Drogba even found the net. He ended the day with a second-half hat-trickto take the Premier League Golden Boot with 29 league goals and 36 in all competitions. By that stage Wigan had long played with 10 men, Gary Caldwell having been dismissed half-an-hour in conceding the penalty that ledto the second goal. Ashley Cole completed the scoring and if there ...

Chelsea hero Didier Drogba in incredible rant at Champions League trophy as Blues celebrate finally landing the big one May 21 2012 By Martin Lipton Didier Drogba and his Chelsea team-mates celebrate winning the Champions League THEY had been waiting for so long to have it in their hands. Been within touching distance, watched it fall from their grasp just as they thought it was theirs. Sometimes beaten, sometimes cheated, always heated. So when Chelsea’s players finally had the Champions League trophy, blue and white ribbons attached, they gave it due reverence. On the large table in the middle of the dressing room it stood, a symbol of their greatest triumph, victory over Bayern Munich on penalties after a 1-1 draw, proof that all the heartbreaks and near misses had been worthwhile. There has been endless debate about Chelsea's fate once Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba move on, but young defender Ryan Bertrand proved at Saturday's (Sunday, PHL time) Champions League Final that the future is bright at Stamford Bridge.
"Football, and life, is sometimes unpredictable and crazy. I don't think anyone could have predicted this. We've had a difficult season" and to finish off like this is incredible. I'm very happy for the players, they've worked so hard for this for so long. Obviously when Bayern scored there wasn't much time for us but the heart and passion these players have shown in this competition has been immense. To equalise and get into extra time was a good feeling. Our preparation was very difficult with the suspended players and two defenders out for three or four weeks so it wasn't an ideal situation for a Champions League Final but the desire and motivation of the players has shown again tonight. [Didier Drogba] has been a fantastic servant for this club over eight years and brought a lot of success but we focus on the group and it was a great effort from all the players tonight. Frank Lampard hailed Didier Drogba as Chelsea's 'main man' after the Ivorian scored an equaliser and the decisive penalty in the Champions League
Daily Star: Gold age pensioners Steve Miller: Here in the home city of Albert Einstein Chelsea were left scratching their heads trying to solve another brain teaser. What will life be like without the three wise old men Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry, the latter suspended for the Champions League Final but still a major player? First to go looks like match-winner Drogba – described by boss Roberto Di Matteo as one of the club’s greats. Few words really sum up a true legend. Awesome, magnificent, moody, marvellous – you could go on about a beast of a man who says his heart will always be blue.
Frank Lampard paid tribute to Didier Drogba after savouring Chelsea's Champions League-winning night in Munich. The 33-year-old, who moved to Stamford Bridge from West Ham in 2001, hit one of the Blues' four successful penalties after the final finished 1-1 after normal and extra time. Arjen Robben missed a penalty in the first extra period on his and Munich's home ground before Lampard, David Luiz and Ashley Cole slotted from the spot ahead of Drogba's winning kick. Lampard, who captained the west London club for the night in the absence of the suspended John Terry, said: "I can't believe it. The determination we've shown... we didn't play fantastic but the main man Didier dug us out of trouble there. "He's a hero. Without him we're not here. He scores the goals in the big games. It means everything. "We've been so many years trying to do this. This is the one we really wanted and we've got it." Asked whether the win should lead to interim manager Roberto Di Matteo being given the job permanently, Lampar ...

Moral of Chelsea victory 2: John Terry, Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Paulo Ferreira, John Mikel Obi, Florent Malouda, Hilario etc.: They've been to six semi-finals and one final (before yesterday) over the last decade in the UEFA CL. They've played in some of the most epic UEFA CL games of the last decade; some of them ending in heartbreak and controversy. Yet, they soldiered on till they won. Moral: It doesn't matter how long it takes; the Lord will deliver to the person who endures and perseveres in hope and faith; whilst serving faithfully. Endurance and perseverance build character; and character determines whether you win or not. These guys have been great servants to Chelsea and I'm I'm genuinely happy for them even though I'm a dye-in-wool Man United fan.
Ohhh man!! What a night it was!! What a morning it is!! Once of those mornings where you know you didn't drink till you dropped but you're still hungover. A hangover which you wish never ended!! In that glamorous night at Allianz Arena, they have accomplished the incredible achievement what they have been being invested to achieved - The Champion League Cup. It's painfully a meaningful farewell champion by the first generation of ten-year-Chelsea under Abramovich. UP BLUES!!! CELEBRATION CONTINUES "One of the greatest days of my life" was Frank Lampard's description of the UEFA Champions League Final after he captained Chelsea FC to their first European crown by way of a penalty shoot-out victory against FC BayernMünchen. The English international slammed in the third of four successful spotkicks for the Blues, who had dramatically cancelled out Thomas Müller's late opener for Bayern through Didier Drogba's 88th-minute header to force the final into extra time. Petr Čech then repelled an Arjen Robben penalty in the first additional period before denying both Ivica Olić and Bastian Schweinsteiger in the shoot-out as the Blues' long search for glory in the competition finally came to aclose. "I'm pleased we haven't won it before because it feels even more special," Lampard said. "It took so long. I've been here for 11 years so I've been waiting for this baby for a long time. What a game this morning! Congrats to Chelsea! How many teams can beat Barcelona over two legs? Yet Bayern playing on home soil has to be favourites especially with Chelsea 6th in EPL and missing 4 players including their captain. When Muller scored in he 83rd, many would have thought it was over. Didier Drogba powered home an unstoppale header which Neuer got a hand to but could not stop to bring it into extra-time. Then Drogba played villain when he carelessly tripped Ribery but Cech saved the penalty. When Philip Lahm scored the first penalty and Juan Mata's got saved, again we thought it was over. To win in this situation on penalty kicks against the Germans? No way! Cech saved, Olic missed and Drogba hit the final nail! He was amazing when he first turned out for Marseille and continued till now. This has implication for England. Ashley Cole was outstanding as he made some timely tackles and superb interventions. Gary Cahill was okay and Frank Lampard playing as captain was neat. What a game! The iro ...
On winning the trophy that always evaded us, I would like to say a few things. Firstly I want to thank God for everything; for the luck, the fitness level the players had, and the game it self. To Abramovich, thank you for the investment and money you put into the club. To Roberto Di Matteo and the back room, thank you for making the right decision and getting the tactics right and turning this season around. And to the players, you did us proud today. You guys kept pushing and pushing, even with all the odds against you guys, you did it. To the old guard (John Terry, Frank Lampard, Petr Cech, Didier Drogba) they told you guys you couldn't do it but you keep surprising them. Tonight we drink and be merry because we have written and made history. From the beginning of the season to the end, we kept going, pushing, and fighting until it was ours. From the memories of 2008 to the game against barcelona in 2009, it has been building up to this winners of the Uefa Champions League 2012 WE DID IT GUYS, WE DID IT ...

At last the dream of the Russian billionaire (Roman Abramovic) appeared real. He had his 100th game against Bayern Munich at Alianz Arena, since he became the owner of Chelsea since June 2003, with 180 points following Barcelona with 190 points, to claim the Uefa Champions League Tittle. After sacking 7 coaches in 7 years, Roberto Di Matteo who as a caretaker coach, following the sacking of Andre Villa Boas known as AVB, brought him his happiness. Roberto Di Matteo is now the 1st Italian coach to win the European Cup with a foriegn team. He also became the 1st coach that brought the UCL Cup to stamford brigde, along side the FA Cup all in 1 Season. Frank Lampard is also recorded as the captain who brought the 1st Champions League victory to London. With the wining penalty from Didier Drogba. Chelsea's date with destiny: the occasion when their Roman empire can finally achieve its aim. Comrade Abramovich fell in love with football when famously watching a Champions League match and everything since arriving at Stamford Bridge has been aimed at the lifting of that famously oversized trophy, the European Cup. He has been within an inch of the post, a slip of Luzhniki sod, and for a time that had looked like his last chance. An ever-revolving cast-list of coaches has been and gone since John Terry's moment of truth in Moscow. Since then, the players who took them to the brink of a dream becoming reality have aged and agued. This was supposed to be a season of rebuilding. A young coach with new ideas was hired to sweep out the old guard. Yet they remain, and Andre Villas-Boas is jobless, only recently reappearing as a possible suitor for the vacant Liverpool position. Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole and Petr Cech take their place, but the suspended Terry will not, as penance for his stup ...

That several members of the Chelsea team likely to take to the pitch this evening have a Champions League Final past from four years ago has not gone unnoticed in the build-up, but in addition to the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Petr Cech and Ashley Cole being able to use their so-near-yet-so-far experience of Moscow to spur them on against Bayern, there is another likely starter tonight for whom 2008 must not be repeated. John Mikel Obi was in his second year at the club and played 39 games that season.A month before the Final against Manchester United he played the whole of a league win against the same opponents, yet it was never likely he would win selection by then manager Avram Grant for the big one, not once the venerable Claude Makelele proved his availability with a 45-minute outing the match before. Grant favoured the know-how of the France international throughout the Champions League knockout stages and the midfield of Makelele, Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack he put out in the Luz ...

Chelsea are ready to take on Bayern Munich in their bid to be crowned champions of Europe. The Blues take on Bayern in their own stadium on Saturday night in the mouthwatering Champions League Final. Owner Roman Abramovich has long dreamed of winning the world's best club competition and now they stand just 90 minutes away from lifting the trophy. Chelsea touched down in Munich just after midday and were whisked to their hotel in the City Centre. They later held a press conference involving Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and manager Roberto Di Matteo, who may be taking charge of the club for the final time in his caretaker role. The squad - including banned captain John Terry - then trained inside the Allianz Arena as they polished their preparations for the big match. The title was bought, some say. Understandably, Manchester City disagree and, if they want to construct a case for the defence, they can cite Chelsea. In the ninth year of Roman Abramovich's ownership, they are the reminder money has not bought everything: not the Champions League crown the Russian desires or the popularity that has eluded them. The former may be acquired on Saturday night in Munich and the latter, more surprisingly, could be experienced, too. While silverware has been won in the eight most successful seasons of their history, the battle for hearts and minds had been a resounding defeat. For many onlookers, Chelsea have had too much money, too many egos and too misplaced a sense of entitlement. Their cast list has featured plenty of people - John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant - that, fairly or not, many have loved to hate. While the three-letter abbreviation ABU (Anyone But United) was coined to describe those who wished the worst on Manchest ...

Ramires and Didier Drogba gave us a two-goal lead before Liverpool sub Andy Carroll brought them back into the game, but he could not prevent the Bluesfrom lifting the trophy on amemorable May evening for the Stamford Bridge faithful. 'It's been a brilliant competition for us. It was atough game and coming into it with the game in two weeks on people's minds, it feels as good as ever to win it,' Lampard said afterwards. 'They get sweeter as you get older because you know they don't keep going forever. Today we enjoyed it very much, it's been a tough season and itmakes it special to win. 'We got a great start, Ramires has been brilliant all season and scored a good goal. To get your nose in front is massive and we controlled it. We could have killed them off, then maybe got a bit over-confident and they got the goal and it was backs to the wa ...
NEXT UP: THE FA Cup Final! Chelsea return to our second home, Wembley Stadium, on Saturday for the FA Cup Final, with Liverpool standing between us and a first piece of silverware this season. The Blues are six-times winners of the oldest club competition in football and interim first-team coach Roberto Di Matteo scored the goals which secured two of those successes. Di Matteo netted after 43 seconds to set us on our way to victory against Middlesbrough in 1997, while he was also the hero three years later against Aston Villa in the last Cup Final played at the old Wembley. Chelsea also became the first side to win the FA Cup at the new Wembley thanks to Didier Drogba's extra-time goal versus Manchester United and Frank Lampard's wonder goal against Everton secured the trophy in 2009. Drogba was the hero once again in 2010, scoring a sublime free-kick to see off Portsmouth and seal the first Double in the club's history. And, of course, let's not forget the first-ever triumph. One of the most epic Finals ...
Frank Lampard on Didier Drogba: "He's my hero, no striker I have ever played with has scored so many important goals in finals."
got to hand it all to Chelsea's goalkeeper Petr Cech for preventing that Andy Caroll's equalizing attempt as Petr Cech tipped the header of the tall Liverpool striker to the crossbar before Branislav Ivanovic went for the clearance. The game went in a slow pace when Chelsea were two nil up from Ramires's impressive solo run goal and Didier Drogba's wonderful right foot goal from Frank Lampard's genius breakthrough pass, until Liverpool brought on Andy Caroll from the bench who then increased the tempo of the game as he got the better of Chelsea's skipper John Terry on a deffensive error to score for Liverpool. Chelsea managed to escaped being the under pressing side at the 2nd half to wraped up the game at 2-1 and marked their 7th time in winning the FA Cup trophy, similar to Liverpool. For coach Roberto Di Matteo who just taken over Chelsea three months ago, he has proven himself to become the 1st Italian and Chelsea player who had ever won the FA Cup trophy both player and coach. As a player, Roberto Di ...
I'd try my luck with Chelsea. I'm betting on Didier Drogba (I hope Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge score some goals! Fernando Torres? A miracle perhaps? When pigs fly! I want to see some goals from Frank Lampard and John Terry. But I believe Luis Suarez will score! Andy Carroll? Hmm... A bit doubtful. Perhaps Charlie Adam, Craig Bellamy or Stewart Downing could? I'd like to see either Dirk Kuyt or Steven Gerrard score a goal or two.

So from my followers Fans have Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, John Terry & Didier Drogba as our favourite players :)
Frank Lampard has claimed Chelsea’s ability to defy expectation is what makes him and team-mates such as Didier Drogba “top players” and denied that the Champions League Finalists are on their “last legs”.
I heartily congratulate Chelsea for having shown courage and determination to beat the UEFA and FIFA adopted team. Most credit to the entire Chelsea team and management but special credits to Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Ramires Ashley Cole and Peter Chec. It was Frank Lampard who stole the ball from Lionel Messi and squared it to Ramires who then gave the final pass to Didier Drogba for their winning goal at Stamford Bridge in London in the first leg. Again it was the same combination between Frank Lampard and Ramires which resulted in the amazing away goal which gave Chelsea hope and stunned Barcelona and their fans. Oh! and Fernando Torres, he did it again against Barcelona last night. At last he has paid back part of the massive investment in him (50 million pounds). With that final goal which secured Chelsea firmly into the final, Torres not only vindicated himself but paid for the massive transfer fee paid out to sign him. Chelsea will earn more than 50 million pounds if they win the final and alre ...

"We had to be very patient, I don't think we touched the ball for the first 15 minutes but from Didi on his own up front, the midfield and defence, it was a great team performance," Terry told ITV. Martin Atkinson has confirmed that goals by Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Ramires and Florent Malouda all infact crossed the line
Chelsea set up an FA Cup Final against Liverpool after putting Tottenham to the sword with a ruthless beating at Wembley, but they were helped on their way by a goal which should never have been given. - FA Cup gallery - Brewin: Spurs handed Sunday spanking - Terry: We need video technology - Redknapp bemoans ghost goal - Chelsea 'embarrassed' by fans' behaviour Juan Mata put the Blues two up after the break in hugely controversial circumstances with referee Martin Atkinson awarding the goal despite replays showing the Spaniard's shot did not cross the line. That slice of luck, though, could not detract from Chelsea's superiority. Didier Drogba scored his seventh goal at Wembley to put the Blues ahead and, even though an incensed Spurs pulled one back straight after Mata's second through Gareth Bale, a cool finish from Ramires, a blistering 30-yard free-kick from Frank Lampard, and a late fifth from Florent Malouda wrapped up a huge win for the west London club and piled yet more misery on Spurs boss Harr ...
Didier Drogba broke the deadlock three minutes before the break with a trademark strike which flew past Carlo Cudicini, and when Juan Mata doubled our advantage with a controversial strike early in the second half - replays were inconclusive as to whether or not the ball had crossed the line - the game looked all but over. Tottenham hit back straight away, however, when Gareth Bale rolled the ball into an empty net after Emmanuel Adebayor had rounded Petr Cech, but Ramires, impressive throughout, restored our two-goal advantage when he finished smartly from Juan Mata's pass. Frank Lampard scored an exquisite free-kick with 10 minutes remaining, before Florent Malouda put the seal on a fantastic day when he slotted past Cudicini in the dying moments.

Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea (6-5 on penalties) Our first Champions League Final ended in Moscow heartache. Frank Lampard had levelled Cristiano Ronaldo's opener, and despite seeing Didier Drogba sent off, we held on for penalties. John Terry could have won it for Chelsea but slipped and his shot went wide, and when Nicolas Anelka's spot kick was saved, it was United who could celebrate.
