Pasolini / Frank Darabont / George Miller / David Fincher. Fight Club is my favorite amongst all, definitely.
Frank Darabont's ending to The Mist is vastly more memorable than King's. It's a great metaphor for the cruelty of life.
After Tom Jane said that to me, he said to Frank Darabont sitting near him, "I'm off to go get a burger, you should take that one, Frank."
Most definitely. I'd also love Ronald D. Moore and Frank Darabont!

Once upon a time, there was a shortlist of directors being considered to helm the prequel to ‘Snow White & The Huntsman.’ One was Frank Darabont, a wizened old sort with an affinity for Hawaiian shirts and actor Tom Hanks. Ok, best movie directors ever? I'll start... my top 5... Coen Brothers, Ron Howard, Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, and it's a tie between David Fichtner and Frank Darabont. What say you?
Fam, you need to remove Tyler Perry from that list and put Martin Scorsese or Frank Darabont!
Stephen King never cashed the $5000 check he got for the rights to Shawshank Redemption -- instead...Years after the movie came out, the author got the check framed and mailed it back to the director [Frank Darabont] with a note inscribed: "In case you ever need bail money. Love, Steve."

The Green Mile (1999) *SPOILERS* Directed by Frank Darabont Based on the Novel by Stephen King "On the day of my judgement, when I stand before God and he asks me why. why did I kill one his true. miracles. What am I supposed to say?" Watched The Green Mile for the first time in a while. Mr. Jingles is cinema's finest mouse. Mouseville! What a great movie. I had no idea the film was 3 hours long. Doesn't feel like it at all. The "climactic" scene of this film had me pretty much sobbing. When Coffey asks not to have the hood on because he's scared of the dark, I lost it. And when Paul shakes Coffey's hand, I lost it all over again. This is Dancer in the Dark level sadness. Also starring David Morse, didn't think of that. But despite how unbearably sad the ending of this film is, it really is an entertaining film. Frank Darabont, I think The Majestic flopping like it did halted the guy's film career. That's a *** shame, the guy's a master I say. And he sure knows his way around a prison film at thi ...
I had no idea Frank Darabont did the rewrite on the new Godzilla movie screenplay. Love his direction. He said he took it back yo the roots. When Godzilla was a metaphor for Hiroshima and was just this natural force of destruction--handled like a natural disaster. He said that Godzilla later became Clifford the Big Red Dog, a mascot for Japan. A giant monster shows up and Godzilla fights him. They took it back to the original idea and fans hated it. Go figure. People want Clifford.
Good call Jared, The Long Walk is his best, Rob Reiner, or Frank Darabont for director? BTW Jim, The Stand rocked
Tom Hanks, Kevin Costner, Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, Johnny Depp and Charlie Sheen were all considered for the part of Andy Dufresne. Hanks turned it down because he was committed to Forrest Gump. Costner liked the script a lot but was then embroiled in the filming of Waterworld. Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Paul Newman and Robert Redford were all considered for the part of Red. In the original novella, Red is a middle-aged Irishman with graying red hair. However, Frank Darabont always had Morgan Freeman in mind for the role because of his authoritative presence, demeanor and deep voice.
Frank Darabont's Mob City is the higher-caliber contender in Hollywood's current crime wave. It's better paced, better written & structured
Media Guest Milo Ventimiglia is in the Motor City Comic Con house May 16-16 2014! Milo Ventimiglia is an American actor. He was born in Anaheim, California, to Carol Lynn (Wilson) and Peter A. Ventimiglia next appears on the TNT show "Mob City". Helmed by Frank Darabont and taking place in 1947 Los Angeles, Ventimiglia plays Ned Stax a fixer for Bugsy Seigels crime syndicate. Ventimiglia's film work includes both studio and independent movies, comedy and drama. Known for darker films "Pathology" (helmed by Neveldine/Taylor) and "The Divide" (directed by Xavier Gen), Ventimiglia also spent time on two comedies with Adam Sandler. So tired of the opinion that Deckard in Blade Runner is a replicant. Yes, Ridley Scott believes this, but he's solely the director. One of the screenwriters, Hampton Fancher, and the star, Harrison Ford, and even Frank Darabont, all disagree and say Deckard is human, which is where the film's meaning comes from. To say Scott's word is law is to disregard the writer's intentions entirely, and that is very wrong.
The title for tonight's Sunday, March 9 episode of The Walking Dead Season 4 sounds depressing, but the official synopsis offers a bit more hope: On Episode 13, "Alone," "One group finds a shelter; a group has a realization about protection." So we're back to two different storylines. The first Episode 13 promo focused on two mini groups: 1) Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), whom we haven't seen since Episode 10; and 2) Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), who just got a solo showcase on Episode 12. The "Alone" promo shows Daryl and Beth holding hands at a cemetery, then on the run; but Maggie, Bob and Sasha are stuck in a creepy mist. The fog of war! Sasha told her group they only had six bullets, and Talking Dead's sneak peek took us deep into the creepy mist. Seriously. It's almost like they're trying to mimic Frank Darabont's film The Mist (which also starred Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden and Jeffrey DeMunn, just FY ...

*** YEAH! Whereas I knew the movie was going to blow, this can't be anything less than pure awesome sauce!!! "World War Z: The Complete Edition will include five more hours of stories from Brooks’ highly influential book that has been considered to be one of the greatest stories of apocalyptic zombie terror ever told. Among the new cast members lending their voices to this unabridged version will be actor and rapper Common (American Gangster), actor Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), writer-director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), Firefly/Castle star Nathan Fillion, actor/screenwriter Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead), and most surprisingly of all, Oscar-winner and filmmaking giant Martin Scorsese." I would re-read my book along side this!!!

Godzilla (2014) In Movie Theaters May 16, 2014 A new big screen version of the many times made and remade Godzilla. The previous big screen Godzilla endeavor was from Columbia Pictures in 1998, and did mediocre business at the movie box office. That film starred Matthew Broderick and was directed by Roland Emmerich. Warner Bros. is betting a lot on the director of the Godzilla reboot. Gareth Edwards has never made a Hollywood movie before. His only big screen credit to date is the hardly seen, box office bomb Monsters, which was practically a direct-to-DVD release in 2010. The Shawshank Redemption director and The Walking Dead creator, Frank Darabont, was hired on January 4, 2013 to pen the final rewrite for the Godzilla reboot, which hits theaters Summer 2014. STARRING: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston DIRECTED BY: Gareth Edwards STUDIO: Warner Bros. RATING: PG-13 (For violence, language, adult themes)
Ok a roundup of a few more movies over the Atlantic. 1. The Green Mile (1999) A Frank Darabont (known for Shawshank Redemption) movie with Tom Hanks in the lead was surely not to be missed, yet I had for a long time until I caught up with it this time. An unusual story of a prison guard, Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) who supervises the execution of death row inmates on the electric chair finds one of the inmates in 1935, John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) charged for a double rape and murder of two young girls, having a special gift to work miracles and develops a special bond with him. The movie very poignantly portrays the story of the inmates along with a lonely mouse which is a central character. Darabont is a great narrator and underplays the stars for the story and where the movie falls short, be it on a tighter screenplay or editing, he catches up with a brilliant narrative especially in the way he ends the story. Tom Hanks is highly under utilised and anyone could have played his role. Duncan is at h ...

"Mob City" tells the story of Los Angeles gangsters in 1947, but Chicago's mob history helped Milo Ventimiglia create his character in Frank Darabont's miniseries.
I think my new favorite show is Mob City. Finally checked out the first episode and it was really good. the executive producer is Frank Darabont, who was the excutive producer of the Walking Dead's first 2 seasons. Plus he cast some actors from the Walking Dead. Dale, from season 1 &2, Shane and Jim from the first season. Even Milo Ventimiglia who played Peter Petrelli in Heros. yeah I might just stick with this one!

I use Missy Elliott, Simone de Beauvoir and Eminem, and all the other people I cognitively profile, if you like, to deliver John Kofee in Frank Darabont's The Green Mile. That's how I work it through, even if the delivery is not pure enough. Or assertive enough. It is divine purity through the aggressor of the physical self. Merging spirit with sex. Mastering the two worlds. Certainty. Authenticity. Soul and the superego combined. The partnership that makes us able to VIBRATE IN CONSCIOUSNESS AND SAFETY AND ANCHORING with the other partner. Frank Darabont's 1940s Gangster Saga Mob City Wednesday, December 4, 2013 on TNT November 21, 2013—Composer Mark Isham marks his third collaboration with award-winning filmmaker Frank Darabont with TNT's 1940s gangster series Mob Citypremiering Wednesday, December 4.Mob City revolves around the decades-long conflict between the Los Angeles Police Department -- under the the determined leadership of Police Chief William Parker (Neal McDonough) -- and infamous gangsters such as Mickey Cohen (Jeremy Luke) and Bugsy Siegel (Edward Burns). Tapping into his talents as a Grammy-winning and Oscar®-nominated film composer, Isham also performs on the score for Mob City, in addition to writing fresh noir tunes and rearranging a number of Big Band standards. For Darabont, Isham was an obvious choice on Mob City given the composer's finesse for capturing yesteryear nostalgia in his music, a feat he demonstrated in their previous work together, the 1951-set drama The Majestic starring Jim Carrey. Isham has created c ...

At dinner 1 night, director Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption) told me he was actively looking for an asbestos 451.
"The Green Mile" was an extraordinary film. How was your experience in working with director Frank Darabont?
I'm hearing VERY GOOD THINGS about Frank Darabont's new TNT series. Check out this hot minute -
A shame people recognize Frank Darabont for the overrated Walking Dead instead of Shawshank Redemption, one of the five best movies ever.

Frank Darabont was the best director ever had!!
Yeah, people complained when Frank Darabont wasn't the showrunner anymore but they still watched the show
NEWS: Looks Can Kill in New TV Spot and Poster for TNT & Frank Darabont's Mob City with Jon Bernthal
Past couple of seasons of The Walking Dead have been incredibly disappointing. Wish Frank Darabont was somehow still involved with the show!
The only reason I'm excited for Mob Kings is because Jon Bernthal is in it and Frank Darabont is the producer.
Love how Mob City is promoted as being from Walking Dead's Frank Darabont. He also kinda directed Shawshank Redemption too, guys.
Can we just talk about how EPIC is going to be! Especially with the always badass and the genius Frank Darabont!
You're right & I'll probably stop, the frustration is that it was great, then AMC got cheap and fired Frank Darabont
"Mob City". Frank Darabont bringing characteristic subtlety to TNT.
I could not watch Mob City because of frank darabont
I was skeptical at first of Godzilla (2014) cause Dave Callaham was attached to write, but then I saw Frank Darabont was too & now I'm okay.
The Shawshank Redemption, the Green Mile & The Mist all Stephen King adaptations, why isn't Frank Darabont doing The Dark Tower really why?
Why is it I'm just learning about a new Godzilla movie cowritten by Frank Darabont?!
Mob City. How I see it... L.A. Noir starring Shane & Dale from made by Frank Darabont
Watch the trailer for 'Mob City,' Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead) and TNT's upcoming mob drama period piece. Think it will last?
Isn't it sacrilege to market anything Frank Darabont makes as "The Walking Dead's Frank Darabont" opposed to, I don't know- "THE Shawshank Redemption'S Frank Darabont" or "THE Green Mile'S Frank Darabont"? Just saying...
Am I old, or am I right: If u advertise something from Frank Darabont, shouldn't you mention masterpiece Shawshank Redemption?
Sooner or later, there's a fight you can't win. From The Walking Dead's Frank Darabont. comes to TNT Dec. 4. http:…
Christopher Nolan. Frank Darabont. Martin Scorcese. Quentin Tarantino. Steven Spielberg . I'd like to say my top 5 directors but theres so many

The other writer I never heard of & the other-other writer is Frank Darabont so this could go any *** way.
*** # 6: Frank Darabont's The Mist. Interesting to watch again after getting into The Walking Dead which Darabont also has a hand in. Lot of similar actors, and aspects of the father/son relationship hit the same notes.
"The Mist" has only been adapted once (directed by Frank Darabont and starring Thomas Jane).
I like how Frank Darabont is being credited for Walking Dead in that promo. Not like he did Shawshank Redemption or anything.
Why is The Walking Dead Frank Darabont's calling card? Hasn't he directed a universally acclaimed and beloved drama before?
Frank Darabont is making Catholicism sound really evil.
Just saw the teaser trailer for the new WB and legendary pictures Godzilla and it gave me goosebumps! I am so happy this was given to the right hands such as screenwriter Frank Darabont someone who truly understands the source material and its message. Godzilla is supposed to be portrayed as an unstoppable force of nature created through the nuclear fire of atomic and hydrogen weapon testing. The true meaning of Godzilla is as a warning against nuclear power, waste and weapons. The movie has actors Bryan Cranston and Ken Watanabe in major supporting roles both excellent actors.
I'm assuming you've watched Walking Dead then??? by Frank Darabont & a ton of actors from those films!
I love watching Stephen King/Frank Darabont films and seeing the same actors from film to film.
I also remember thinking that Frank Darabont had huge brass balls for ending a mainstream movie on such a down note. I like his style.
Directed by Frank Darabont, 2007's "The Mist", with Thomas Jane, Marcia *** Harden & Toby Jones, is considerably darker than the novella.
Poster and teasers for Frank Darabont's "Mob City", which we guess isn't called "Lost Angeles" any more, dammit:
It's pretty weird that the thing Frank Darabont is best known for isn't the thing he's best known for anymore.

Ha! Anyway it's great discipline to seek out the good in evertyhing you see. Very few films have none. Mostly Frank Darabont's.
Same director. That movie got him the gig on it. Also written by Frank Darabont.
So this is the show Frank Darabont started up after he got fired from Walking Dead, I've been obsessing over this ever since I first heard about it. This is going to be epic television.

In the back of the 50th anniversary Fahrenheit 451 print, Ray Bradbury talks about the upcoming film version being done by Frank Darabont. Well it's been 10 years, where the *** is it? Jerk.
is Frank Darabont going to last in that "Mob City" show this time or be fired from it like he was with "The Walking Dead"?

In this city, everyone's guilty of something. From The Walking Dead's Frank Darabont. Coming Dec. 4 to TNT.
Frank Darabont on how to succeed as a
Reason 4,815 that I love Frank Darabont. In all of his works that include The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Walking Dead and The Mist he reminds us that the true terror isn't what is so plainly stated. It's the self-serving nature within ourselves that's the true catalyst to our own destruction. I've been thinking a lot about the government shut down lately and its pretty obvious that it's neither side that's at fault. It's us... It's everyone. NO ONE is willing to compromise. As long as they keep us divided whether it's our race, our sexual preference, or our belief system. It's simply a convenient way to keep all of us angry so that we continue to and eventually destroy ourselves. It isn't the government. It's everyone. Including me.
I just love watching this film. Quite an underrated film by Frank Darabont. Or maybe I just like it.
So what do we watch now that "Breaking Bad" is over? Well, the good news is that television is going through a bit of renaissance with new, promising shows continuing to arrive like clockwork. And in a couple of months, Frank Darabont—who helped launch the phenomenon "The Walking Dead"—will try...
"In this city, everyone is guilty of something." Those words preview the struggle ahead for The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal's Joe Teague, the cop at the center of the LAPD's pursuit of legendary mobster Mickey Cohen in TNT's upcoming Frank Darabont drama Mob City.

NEW!!! Frank Darabont goes into gangster squad territory with "Mob City" on TNT. Premiering Dec 4th
Writing a spec script for The Walking Dead. In order to earn a job on a writing staff I will have to prove that I can imitate someone else's style. Might as well be Frank Darabont's.
"I seem to have less and less patience these days with things that celebrate and glamorize laziness and willful stupidity. Neither ignorance nor underachievement are badges of honor to wear with pride. Sadly, though, our 'politically correct' society has come to believe that nobody should be made to feel stupid. Therefore, if Johnny can't read, let's not challenge him to learn -- let's lower the educational standards in our schools so Johnny won't get his feelings hurt by being singled out as dumb. Swell idea -- except that Johnny and his classmates will turn out to be just another lost generation of functionally illiterate *** who won't be able to read their own diplomas if and when they graduate from high school." -- Frank Darabont, writer-director of 'The Shawshank Redemption' (1994)
Last night I was listening to Glen Beck's radio show... I caught the segment about Orphan Ann, a Tokyo Rose DJ during WWII... He used her microphone on the air last night. The one that was taken by a US naval officer from the radio studio before he burned the station to the ground... It was the first time that microphone was used since 1945... Iva Toguri D'Aquino, an American born citizen of Japanese parents, was in Japan when America entered the War after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She was stuck in Japan and was forced to be a DJ to demoralize the allies. She did that but unlike the other Tokyo Roses she did it while trying to not to demoralizing but passing intel to the Allies. While she was DJ'ing the Zero Hour, she went and visited American POWs, she, at the risk of her own life brought food and medicine to the POWs. During her visits she talked to the POWs and learned from them how to pass intel to the allies during her show without Japan realizing she was doing it. She lived with a death th ...

The Majestic 3/4 Jim Carrey stars in Frank Darabont's film about 50's Hollywood communist blacklist. He gets in a wreck and loses his memory when he winds up in a small California town where he is mistaken for a son lost in the war. Martin Landau is the standout as the father. Aaron
Why do the Comic Con people hate me so much. With me only able to go on Friday, I have to miss out on seeing Hulk Hogan, William Shatner, Bulk and Skull from the Power Rangers, Sly Stallone, Chris Elliot, Sigourney Weaver, and Frank Darabont. But now the prove just how much they hate me by announcing NORMAN REEDUS, Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, AND Melissa McBride ARE ALL DOING A Walking Dead PANEL ON SATURDAY!

Watched The Shawshank Redemption again! What a great film. Frank Darabont really knows how to express Stephen King
The Walking Dead ... oh my lord ... I am going to make my official statement about The Walking Dead. ... I am a fan of The Walking Dead. I LOVE the show. I love the comic (read it since it premiered). I love the toys, I love the merch, I love it all. I wait in anticipation for each new episode. I love that we have a hardcore zombie show on TV – and it's actually popular? What world are we living in? Sadly, it's better than most horror movies that come out week by week. Thanks to people like Greg Nicotero – and Gale Anne Hurd – even Frank Darabont (who started this mess) – we have show on TV that is truly rooted in horror. You do not see gore on TV, like you see on Walking Dead *** after watching World War Z, you don't event see gore like that in movies). What show has the dread like the Walking Dead? – knowing every character can die at any moment. Horrible, horrible deaths. It keeps you coming back for more. But for some reason, thanks to great production (including top-notch casting), edge- .. ...
They're making a new Godzilla written by Frank Darabont and David S. Goyer and starring Bryan Cranston! Yes I am interested
Michael Clarke Duncan was born on December 10, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. Raised by his single mother on Chicago's South Side, Duncan grew up resisting drugs and alcohol, instead concentrating on school. He wanted to play football in high school, but his mother wouldn't let him, afraid that he would get hurt. He then turned to acting, dreaming of becoming a famous actor. After graduating from high school and attending community college, he worked digging ditches at People's Gas Company in Chicago. When he quit his job and headed to Hollywood, he landed small roles while working as a bodyguard. Duncan's role in the movie Armageddon (1998) led to his breakthrough performance in The Green Mile (1999), when his Armageddon co-star Bruce Willis called director Frank Darabont, suggesting Duncan for the part of convict John Coffey. He landed the role, getting critical acclaim as well as many other Awards and Nominations, including an Academy Award Nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. After suffering a ...

The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures." Not much but it's something. More to be revealed at SDCC! :D
MORE Walking Dead FACTS: 1-The walker that Rick encounters in the tank at the end of the episode was played by Sam Witwer. The original intention was to have a web based spinoff showing how Atlanta fell and how Witwer's character died in the tank. This never materialized since Frank Darabont was let go from the show. (This would of been awesome!!) 2- You might know Sam Witwer from the Show Being Human. He was also in The Mist with 4 other TWD actors: Jeffrey DeMunn, Laurie Holden, Melissa McBride & Juan Gabriel Pareja Season 2 Facts: 3-The corpse that Daryl finds in the tent has a button on its chest that reads, No Excuse For Domestic Violence. 4-T-Dog's real name is revealed in S2E2: "Theodore Douglas." 5-The total number of Walkers in Herschel's barn was 15: twelve neighbors, two of Herschel's relations and Sophia. 6-The Cherokee Rose primary time to bloom is in the early spring with bright green leaves. However, the flower is capable of blossoming in the fall under good conditions. Given the condition ...
Actor given to me by Paul Castaneda: Bruce Willis Movie I loved: Sin City Movie I liked: Hudson Hawk (no kidding, despite those that say they hate it, I remember liking it the one time I watched it) Movie I hated: I haven't hated any film with him, but apart from a few of the Die Hard serial I haven't seen that many. Fact I love: He apparently brought Michael Clarke Duncan to director Frank Darabont's attention for John Coffey in The Green Mile, one of my all-time favorites. Like and I'll give you an actor.
Good News? Started filming Frank Darabont's Lost Angels. Bad News? It's slowed down the new Dana Gould Hour. Give me one...…
Imagine my surprise and consternation when I discover that there really IS a plan in the works to make another American "Godzilla" film. Then the reading about four, no five, no make it four again, screenwriters, one of whom is Frank Darabont (whom I'm not impressed with, aside from one film), and David S. Goyer (who I am more impressed with) who is not going to get any screenwriting credit. My worry turns to curiosity, and perhaps a tiny bit of hope when I read that Gareth Edwards is going to direct. He has directed one feature film, "Monsters" which I was quite impressed with. It managed to make the 'Kaiju Eiga' genre seem legit once again. The monsters in "Monsters" were credible, and the story intriguing enough that I got a copy of the DVD. Also interesting are some of the casting choices. Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad", in case you've never heard of him); David Strathairn, Juliette Binoche, Ken Wantanabe are names I recognized. The others are new to me. Then I see that Jim Rygiel will be supervising ...
