Finally arrived in Lawton. Fort Sill across the Street! Family Day tomorrow!!!
Echo Battery Families, Thank you for all of your support! We just wrapped up week 8. The Soldiers completed FTX 3 and participated in the Rights of Passage Ceremony (sybolizing the transition from civilian to warrior) after a 16 KM march. Your Soldiers have progressed through all of the necessary training and put their recently acquired skills to the test by executing small unit operations in FTX III. They conducted a tactical movement to a town, cordoned and searched the town, and seized a high value individual. Your Soldiers have embraced the Warrior Ethos and performed magnificently this week in the Fort Sill Post Retirement Ceremony. Spectators and higher-ups complemented them for their precision execution of Drill and Ceremony. I look forward to seeing you all at Family Day at Sheridan Theater and Graduation at McMahon Auditorium. Please try our snacks and make donations to our Family Readiness Group! Thank you, and see you soon! Respectfully, CPT Harris
Family Day location has been changed to the Fort Sill Conference Center (aka Gunners Inn) on 6 Feb. 6045 Sheridan Road
Family Day and Graduation: Family and Friends, The Soldiers of Alpha Battery are proving their toughness every day. They are motivated, fit, knowledgeable, and ready to graduate! Before they do, however, there are still a couple more weeks of rigorous mandatory training. This is the time of the cycle when families are anxious to make their travel plans to see their Soldier graduate. This letter will provide you with some useful information in order to make your travel arrangements, to including information on hotels, airlines, taxis and a map. We are home from our trip to Fort Sill. Our soldier, Tom Rosario Hughes is now at Fort Leonardwood, MO. Words are not enough to show how much we love him and are proud of him. It was an awesome experience to be part of Family Day and Graduation. Our trip was even more special because of two little ladies, Josie Van Ess and Alex Mierow. You girls rock! We had so much fun. Now we can start making plans to bring our boy home in 6 weeks!
Several questions this morning. First, the Welcome packets that we send out are one per Soldier. Who that Soldier addresses the packet to is up to the Soldier. Once those are gone, the only other one we send out will be the Graduation packet with information on Family and Graduation day. Both of those letters and information sheets are also posted in our photos section, so once they are gone, people just need to check here for the information. As for photos taken, again, these pictures are taken by volunteers and spouses of our cadre, so there may be times that we do not have people to support such a thing. Currently we are in that position. Also, all pictures are taken at random with no particular soldier picked out. If you see your Soldier in a picture, that is s good thing. If not, we are sorry. As for flight days and information on when you as parents and family members need to travel out here to Fort Sill for graduation, you have to make that decision. Family Day begins at 9:00 am on Thursda ...
