Its VA Fun Fact time Locals. This Williamsburg B&B has a special breakfast meal inspired by an athlete. A former Penn State football player stayed over one night, and the next morning one of the B&B proprietors, Ike Sisane prepared a meal so good and unique that it has stayed on the menu. Ike, thiking that the player needed a little extra hardiness in his meal, fixed the college athlete a large portion of OJ, fruit, eggs, meat and potatoes, muffins, and a beverage. The player described the dish as a "skip lunch meal" and the name stuck. Locals, which Bed and Breakfast can you visit for a skip lunch meal of your own?

Judge John Cleland will sentence Former Penn State football Coach Jerry Sandusky Tuesday Oct 9th. Sandusky, 68, faces hundreds of years in prison after he was convicted of 45 counts of abusing 10 boys over the course of 15 years. According to several of the jurors who convicted the former Penn State assistant coach of molesting several boys over a period of years. None of the jurors interviewed by The Associated Press said they have had second thoughts about their June verdict, and several plan to attend the sentencing. "There isn't a sentence that I believe is harsh enough for what he has done and how it has affected the university," said Joan Andrews, a juror who has worked for Penn State for 41 years and held football season tickets since 1969. "I don't think there's been one individual in this entire campus that has not been affected by this."

You're just as culpable as everyone else involved in the coverup, and you are as entitled to a financial reward as Paterno would be. You remained silent, Mr. McQueary, and I hope the legal system turns its back on you just as you turned your back on those kids being raped.

It kills me that some of these former Penn state players and fans are complaining about the ncaa taking those wins away. The situation is not about them.. its about the victims. I think they are so blind with the love for their team that they forget about what is actually important. I think the punishment was very fair. It *** that people that had nothing to.do with the situation have to pay, but the ncaa had to do something. Just don't understand how people can say that this wasn't necessary

Today, the NCAA did what they felt was the best recourse concerning Penn State, whether you agree it was enough or if you disagree that they did not do enough. I just have a couple of questions. Joe Paterno, how could you look at your players in the eye, and ask them to do their best, to hold themselves to a higher standard than you held yourself to? How many times did it happen on your watch, and you turned your back on those guys being abused? Former Penn State players, how can you call Joe Paterno an honorable man? How could or can you defend him? He is just as evil as the worst of them all, all for the game, all for personal gain, and all for a legacy! His legacy now is he was an enabler, and allowed criminal sexual abuse to happen and condoned it? Otherwise he would have had Sandusky arrested! Sorry Penn State fans, who among you would condone this?
The NCAA has slammed Penn State with an unprecedented series of penalties.
Sorry former Penn State players, you only THOUGHT you knew a man of honesty and integrity in Joe Paterno, he made the kind of mistake that isnt forgiveable, and you all deserve to have your time erased from the record books for being so stubbornly ignorant and just plain stupid.
Former Penn State president Graham Spanier is resorting to the Enron defense: "Yes, I was in charge doing all this, but I was so incompetent at my job that I never knew what was really going on."
In my opinion the NCAA has totally deflected from Sandusky's horrific child abuse actions. He and he alone is the guilty individual. Not Paterno, not the college and certainly not the former Penn State football players. So congratulations again Sandusky...you have totally abused all of Penn State!
Sexual abuse is reprehensible, especially when it involves children, and no one starting with Joe Paterno condones or minimizes it. The horrific acts committed by Jerry Sandusky shock the conscience of every decent human being. How Sandusky was able to get away with his crimes for so long has yet t...

oh my gosh, have to pick a Joe Paterno statue article for The Bee out of a gazillion on the wire, and all these morons in State College, Pa., keep crying about how it's a shame and removing the statue is a knee-jerk reaction. Knee jerk? No it isn't, you schmucks, the University has had 11 years ... yes, 11 years, at least, to act on alleged sexual abuses/rapes of children by a former Penn State assistant football coach that was covered up in part by one Joe Paterno. 11 years!!! Take that, you knee jerks!!!

Penn State takes down Paterno statue as school braces for NCAA sanctions By Dylan Stableford, Yahoo! News | The Lookout – 7 hrs ago A blanket covers the head of the Joe Paterno statue, July 22, 2012. (John Beale/AP) Betty Shumaker The statue of Joe Paterno, Penn State's late, disgraced former football coach, has been taken down, after university officials announced early Sunday their decision to remove it. "I now believe that, contrary to its original intention, coach Paterno's statue has become a source of division and an obstacle to healing in our university and beyond," Penn State president Rodney Erickson said in a statement. "I believe that, were it to remain, the statue will be a recurring wound to the multitude of individuals across the nation and beyond who have been the victims of child abuse." The decision comes on the heels of a damning 267-page report by former FBI Director Louis Freeh--which concluded Paterno concealed information about former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandu ...

Spanier's attorneys say Freeh Report is not independent, contains inaccuracies and "reached conclusions that are not supported by the data."
The Freeh Report opens far more questions than answers concerning the 1998 incident. It seems that Penn State Detective Ron Schreffler went straight to Asst. DA Karen Arnold because he was afraid of interference from Old Main. Had Penn State officials interfered with other criminal investigations? After it was determined that CYS had too many conflicts of interest, the case was assigned to DPW in Harrisburg. Why then did DPW ask a CYS counselor, John Sesock, to conduct an investigation? After Sesock's report, it appears that DA Ray Gricar closed the case, even before DPW caseworker Jerry Lauro completed his investigation. Why did he not wait for a full report? It would appear that one individual may have answers to these and other key questions about who did what and why in 1998. That is former Penn State Police Dept. Chief Tom Harmon. I spoke with several people who believe that Tom Harmon has turned state's evidence, and that he can finger all of those responsible for failing to indict Sandusky ...

I must share this comment with all of you who care about Joe Paterno. Altoona native Brad Benson, a former Penn State offensive lineman AKA washed up car salesman from Maryland says this about Joe and I quote " I always thought he knew. To what extent, that was the only question. I thought that anyone who didn't think he knew was pretty naive. Joe knew pretty much everything going on there." My thought is Brad Benson knows nothing and just wants to get his name in the paper.
These allegations against the former Penn State officials, are just that allegations. These people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, NOT a court of public opinion. Now it seems as if many are jumping on the lets judge Joe Paterno band wagon. Joe Paterno is no longer alive to defend himself. I despise it when that happens.
“Again, nostalgia, history, legacy, loyalty, all of these things that are personal selfish qualities are getting in the way of empathy for young people who, we know, the evidence shows, lives have been changed forever. Damaged forever.” - John Amaechi Former Penn State Basketball Player

Watched a 15 minute interview with Jay Paterno, son of Joe Paterno former Penn State Football coach. He never once called him "My Father", "My Dad", not even "My Old Man"...It was Joe this, Joe Paterno that, Joe's legacy. It made me sad for the obvious relationship he did not have. One small mans opinion.

C'mon former Penn State players, stop defending your former coach. By concealing the actions of Sandusky, JoePa's behavior was indefensible. Wake up & view JoePa the way the rest of us do - someone willing to do anything to protect "his legacy".
Well it turns out that Paterno & former Penn State President Spanier knew about the child abuse & covered it up to not shame the university. Yet they did nothing to help the children. If Paterno was alive, he should be facing criminal charges, as well as Spanier. It *** that we have people like this in our midst.
