Farewell, Gabrielle! 󾭩✨ We are sad to announce that Gabrielle Kent will be leaving us to continue her education at Oregon State University. Gabrielle has been an amazing member of our Excell Fitness team, as she has given nothing less than dedication, hard-work, and infectious positive attitude. Her final class will be Monday, January 27. Welcome, Janell! Starting February 3, Janelle Almquist will begin teaching Monday night cycling classes for Gabrielle. Janell holds certifications in Spinning by Mad Dog Athletics and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and she formally taught cycling classes for Excell Fitness in Newberg. She is employed by Portland Community College.
Z-Helene has a broad dance background that includes extensive study and performances in Middle Eastern, East Indian, African, modern, and flamenco dance forms. She first studied Middle Eastern dance in the late 1970's with Marie Silva in Los Angeles and Bobby Farrah and Elena Lentini in New York City. Upon making her permanent home in Austin, TX in 1980, she continued-- and still continues-- to attend classes and seminars to upgrade her skills. Lake County Family YMCA Names New Health, Wellness Coordinator for Northern Lake YMCA Lake County Family YMCA has named Mayra Galindo as its Northern Lake YMCA health & wellness coordinator. A Gurnee resident, Galindo is responsible for fitness programming which includes group classes and personal training at the Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan. She has been a YMCA employee for two years and has been a Y member since age 10. She earned her Aerobics & Fitness Association of America certification in personal training and group fitness.
