Del Bosque shows his hand Vicente Del Bosque finally placed his cards on the table on Saturday and named the 23-man Spain squad for this month's World Cup. The responsibility of defending the title won in South Africa meant there was much interest in the announcement but, in the end, there were few surprises. With so much talent at his disposal, the doubts revolved around who would be left out. Whoever Del Bosque chose he would be naming a strong squad and he has done just that -- cast your eye over the employers of Spain's 23 and you'll find a who's who of Europe's top clubs. Of the seven players not chosen in this squad who picked up winners' medals four years ago, only Jesus Navas and Fernando Llorente could realistically have been said to be in with a shout this time. Navas' absence is due to an ankle injury and will deprive Spain of the wing wizardry of a player who contributed greatly to the winning goal against Netherlands in the 2010 final with a fine run from a deep position. Juan Mata and Santi ...
Costa in, Llorente out - Spain's final World Cup squad revealed Manchester City pair Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas will not be part of la Roja's team in Brazil after Vicente Del Bosque confirmed who had been cut on Saturday May 31, 2014 12:00:00 PM Spain have announced their 23-man squad which will travel to Brazil this summer for the World Cup, with Diego Costa making the cut while Fernando Llorente, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo have all been omitted. Costa converted from a Brazil international to la Roja earlier this season and had a stunning season with Atletico Madrid, starring as they won La Liga. However, the 25-year-old has been a major fitness worry throughout the last few weeks, with a recurring hamstring problem limiting his participation in the final league match and the Champions League final. While Costa has been picked to help Spain defend their crown in South America this summer, Juventus forward Fernando Llorente and Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo miss out. Fernando Torres might ...
Experienced strikers Fernando Torres and David Villa were both included in Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque’s final 23-man World Cup squad on Saturday as he sought to provide cover for Diego Costa’s injured hamstring. Brazil-born Atletico Madrid striker Costa has battled an ongoing hamstring problem that limited him to just nine minutes in the Champions League final defeat to city rivals Real, a week after he was forced off 15 minutes into his side’s La Liga title decider with Barcelona. And he did not feature in the reigning World Cup champions’ 2-0 win over Bolivia in Seville on Friday. But his goal-scoring prowess – Costa was the third highest goal scorer in La Liga last season with 27 – convinced Del Bosque to take a calculated risk, backed up the presence of Chelsea hitman Torres, 30, and Costa’s Atletico teammate Villa, 32. Del Bosque also left strikers Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Fernando Llorente, midfielder Ander Iturraspe, and defenders Alberto Moreno and Dani Carvajal out of his ...
Spain names World Cup squad: Diego Costa in, Jesus Navas and Fernando Llorente miss out.
Fernando Torres makes Spain's final Squad for the World Cup yet again! Now there's something about this guy and the national team; especially when stars like Fernando Llorente, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo couldn't make the cut. He may have lost some of his goal-scoring touch, but you can't take away the fact that this guy has achieved what some great players constantly yearn for: he has won the Champions League, EUROPA LEAGUE, TWO EURO CUPS, and THE World Cup. He won the Golden Boot at the last European Cup from the bench!!! Take it or leave it, some players were born talented, some were born lucky, while some were simply born BLESSED! WAY TO GO, EL NINO!!, show them what stuff you're made of!!! SPANISH SQUAD: Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, David De Gea Defenders: Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Raul Albiol, Javi Martinez, Jordi Alba, Cesar Azpilicueta, Juanfran Torres Midfielders: Koke, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, Pedro Rodriguez, Juan Mata, D ...
Notable Spanish players not included in WC Squad: Jesus Navas, Daniel Carvajal, Alvaro Negredo, Fernando Llorente, Alberto Moreno. Navas should have been included to give the team some pace on the wings; Mata, Silva, Iniesta and Cazorla are extremely gifted yet similar. As for Torres in the squad instead of Negredo and Llorente is perfectly justified as they already have a strong, bullish striker in Diego Costa so Torres is not only a good backup but also a different option (in terms of play-style) - vj
The red fury enters!!! the show !!! : Spain vs Bolivia Tonight's predictions and Preview - Football betting tips for Spain vs Bolivia and predictions for the match ahead of Spain’s quest to defend their crown at the World Cup.World champions Spain continue their preparations ahead of Brazil 2014 with a friendly in Sevilla against Bolivia on Friday night. The game, and perhaps the 2014 World Cup, look to have come a little too soon for Diego Costa, after the Atletico front man limped off in last weekend’s Champions League final. Spain however are not lacking in options in attack, and players like Alvaro Negredo, David Villa and Fernando Llorente will cause the tightest of defences problems in Brazil. The trio can be found respectively to open the scoring in Seville, but in a Spanish side which carries threat from all areas of the pitch it is hard to pinpoint where the goals will come from. Players like Fabregas, Jesus Navas and David Silva have all had great domestic seasons and highlight just how po . ...
Looking at the Spanish squad for the World Cup it amazes me how strong this team is its full of European, World Cup winners and Champions League winners not a single weakness in this team for me they are favorites to win it again. Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, David De Gea Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Cesar Azplicueta, Juanfran, Javi Martinez, Raul Albiol, Alberto Moreno Midfielders: Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Ander Iturraspe, David Silva, Santi Cazorla, Koke, Juan Mata, Jesus Navas Forwards: Diego Costa, David Villa, Alvaro Negredo, Pedro Rodriguez, Fernando Llorente, Fernando Torres
ROAD TO LISBON IS NOT A EASY ONE. Real have made it to the final of Europe's premier club competition for the first time since 2002 and are aiming to end a long wait for La Decima - a 10th European crown. Here is a game-by-game guide of how Carlo Ancelotti's men reached Saturday's showdown in Lisbon. Galatasaray 1-6 Real Madrid - September 17, 2013 In their opening Group B encounter, Madrid laid down a marker of their intent with a thumping win at the home of the Turkish champions. Cristiano Ronaldo netted a second- half treble, with Karim Benzema claiming a brace and Isco also on target in Real's most emphatic Champions League away win. Real Madrid 4-0 Copenhagen - October 2, 2013 Madrid's blistering goalscoring form continued in their next match. Ronaldo grabbed another two goals, while there was also a double for Angel Di Maria in a comfortable victory. Real Madrid 2-1 Juventus - October 23, 2013 That man Ronaldo was the star again, scoring yet another brace - either side of Fernando Llorente's equalis ...
Alexis Sanchez is a known target for many top clubs, the leaders being Liverpool, Juventus and Arsenal. Having had a wonderful season with FC Barcelona, Sanchez appears to be on his way out for a bargain fee of around £20m. Here's why he should reject Liverpool and Juventus for a move to the Emirates. Before we start, let’s just reiterate what a signing Alexis Sanchez would be; with 25 goals and 19 assists in all competitions, and aged just 25, £20m is an outrageously small price. He may still have untapped potential, which is a promising prospect. Firstly, Sanchez prefers to play as a right-hand forward, or occasionally a second striker. Is this really what Juve and Liverpool need? No. Juventus have the combination of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente who have 38 goals between them, while Liverpool have the terrifying attacking partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who have a phenomenal 58. It’s true Liverpool do need a winger, but not a goal scoring winger like Sanchez, more of a creat ...

Juve restore eight-point lead (AFP) Monday 14 April 2014 Share Spanish striker Fernando Llorente scored his third goal in two games as Juventus restored their eight-point lead over Roma at the top of the Italian Serie A with a comfortable 2-0 win away to Udinese. Roma kept their slim hopes of a first Scudetto since 2001 alive with a 3-1 win at home to Atalanta on Saturday which reduced the gap to five points. But any thoughts Antonio Conte's men, beaten 2-0 away at Napoli two weeks ago, would suffer a slip-up at the Friuli Stadium were quashed inside the first half hour of a largely one-sided contest. With striker Carlos Tevez struggling with adductor problems, Conte rested the Argentinian in anticipation of a testing run-in in which Juve face Benfica in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League twice in the coming two weeks. It meant a rare start for Sebastian Giovinco alongside the towering Llorente and the 'Atomic Ant' seized the day by opening the scoring on 16 minutes after bustling past Maurizio Dom ...

Arsène Wenger is interested in signing Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic, with the Arsenal boss willing to go all out to sign the highly-rated 30 year old according to talkSPORT. Vucinic currently plays for Italian giants Juventus, where he has been struggling for first-team minutes under Antonio Conte. Vucinic was once a vital player in the squad, but the Montenegrin international has been dislodged by the summer signings Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente. Arsenal have made the first move in the race to sign the Montenegrin, with Wenger valuing the player at around £10million. Wenger is desperate to bolster his attacking options and could pull out all the stops in a attempt to sign the talented individual with French strikers Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo, his only real attacking options. The Gunners were keen on the Montenegro international during the past two transfer windows, but due to Vucinic's importance to the Italian side at the time, Arsenal's efforts of signing the striker were continuously re ...

Osvaldo: Playing for Juventus is easy. Pablo Osvaldo says players such as Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente and Sebastian Giovinco makes things easy for him at Juventus in the wake of his side's 4-0 UEFA Europa League win over Trabzonspor in the round of 32. The striker, who joined Juve on loan from Southampton during the January transfer window, netted once in the 2-0 home win last week and once more added his name to the scoresheet in Thursday's return in Istanbul as the Serie A champions again won by two goals. CHELSEA PLOT LLORENTE MOVE-BLUES SET TO BID FOR SPANISH STRIKER. Chelsea could make a move for juventus stiker Fernando Llorente this summer as they look to solve their problems upfront. The blues who have been linked with a number of big names in that position in recent times due to the inconsistent form of the likes of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, were recently believed to be chasing Llorente's juve team mate Carlos Tevez. However, with the news that the former Manchester City star is not looking to return to england, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may now try his luck with a bid to the turin giants for Llorente. The 28 year old has had a somewhat mixed first season in Serie A, scoring ten goals and was rumoured to be heading out on loan to Arsenal in january though a move never materialised. "We think Llorente is a player who might be available", a chelsea source told footbal direct news. "I am not certain if he is Jose's first choice but it looks a possibility at the moment with a lot of the other big ...
Emirates Stadium side to sign Serie A forward. Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal to bring in experienced forward Mirko Vucinic according to Inside Futbol. Read more Arsenal transfer news. Arsene Wenger is to welcome in the Juventus striker on a loan deal to help strengthen his attacking options for the rest of the current campaign with the Montenegro international due to have a medical at the North London club today. The 30 year old forward had looked close to securing a move to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal that would have seen Colombian Fredy Guarin move in the opposite direction but the deal stalled and Vucinic is still looking for a move away from his Turin side in search of regular first team football. Vucinic finished last season as Juventus’s joint top scorer in Serie A action, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, but the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, from Man City and Athletic Bilbao respectively, last summer have severely restricted his involvement in Antonio Conte’ ...

Worlds Top 10 Benchwarmers! 10: Fernando Llorente | Juventus The big striker was linked with Tottenham before he moved to Serie A champs Juventus upon the expiry of his contract. 9: Alex Song | Barcelona Unsurprisingly Alex Song hasn't been able to force himself into a midfield containing the likes of Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquets and Xavi. The former Arsenal star has been treated as a not-so-super-sub since his arrival at the Nou Camp, and it's unlikely he will remain there for long if he has ambitions of playing regular football again. 8: Marouane Fellaini | Man United The tall Belgian has looked a shadow of the player that Moyes paid near-on £30million for and, as a result, he's been dropped to the bench. It's unlikely he will remain a substitute for long, but unless he can pick up performances he doesn't deserve a starting berth. 7: Stevan Jovetic | Man City When a club pays £22million for a striker you could be forgiven for thinking that he will get his chance to the prove his wort ...
THE JANUARY transfer window will open on Wednesday and we can expect all of the usual rumours. It will be a critical time for several clubs. Take a look at their options. Arsenal Budget £50million. Who’s in charge of signings? Arsène Wenger. The longest serving manager in English football has more control than any of his Premier League peers when it comes to deciding who is signed and who leaves, and has actually resisted the board’s desire to spend in the past. He could well do so again, after Arsenal’s fine form so far. What’s their priority? A striker and, possibly another central defender and a right-back, depending on Bacary Sagna’s intentions. The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and there are no suggestions he is close to agreeing a deal. Who could arrive Diego Costa (Atlético Madrid), Javier Hernandez (Manchester United), Fernando Llorente (Juventus). Who could leave Nicklas Bendtner, Bacary Sagna, Thomas Vermaelen, Lukas Fabianski, Emmanuel Frimpong, Park Chu-You ...
Arsenal have drawn up a five-man striker shortlist as they step up plans to make a major splash in the January market Arsene Wenger is convinced that the addition of a marquee forward in the forthcoming window could tilt the title race in the Gunners’ favour and is ready to spend £30m on the right player. Arsenal have prepared a list of targets that features Robert Lewandowski, Diego Costa, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Stephan El Shaarawy and Fernando Llorente. The Premier League leaders are closely monitoring the big-name quintet with a view to permanent moves, bar Juventus’ Llorente, who is being considered for a loan deal. Wenger recognises he needs a top quality alternative to Olivier Giroud, who has almost single-handedly spearheaded the team’s attack this season. The Arsenal boss is well aware of the difficulties of landing A-list options in the notoriously difficult January window and the short-list has been compiled with a view to possible availability, even though all five would be unavailable for th ...
Galatasaray 1-0 Juventus: Sneijder sends Mancini's men into the knockouts The Dutchman turned home a precise finish in the final five minutes as Antonio Conte's side were sent crashing out of the Champions League Dec 11, 2013 3:22:00 PM Galatasaray sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League in dramatic style as Wesley Sneijder's late goal saw them beat Juventus 1-0 on Wednesday. The Dutchman latched on to Didier Drogba's flick to fire low past Gianluigi Buffon in the closing minutes as Roberto Mancini's side battled past the Bianconeri in treacherous conditions in Istanbul. The fixture was halted after 31 minutes on Tuesday due to freak snow storms, with play resuming on Wednesday afternoon. On a heavy, muddy pitch, both sides were largely limited to direct passages of play when the game restarted, with Juventus coach Antonio Conte appearing very unhappy with the match officials at the break, presumably due to the condition of the playing surface. Fernando Llorente headed a winner in stoppage time against Udinese to send Juventus three points clear at the top of the Serie A. Juve created few clear-cut chances during the match until the final 10 minutes when Fabio Quagliarella forced a save from Zeljko Brkic before Alan cleared Llorente's header off the line. Llorente made no mistake with his next effort when he nodded in Stephan Lichtsteiner's attempted shot. Juve next face Bologna on 6 December. Despite having less possession, Udinese also created good chances with Gianluigi Buffon producing great stops to deny Andrea Lazzari and Antonio Di Natale's point-blank strike from six yards. The win was marred slightly by an injury to Andrea Pirlo, who went off early in the game after taking a blow to his knee. "We hope it's not twisted and is just a knock," said Juventus manager Antonio Conte. "I want to be optimistic, he's a champion and will look to return immediately." WILL FCB BE INTRESTED IN HALF PRISE PLAYER is reporting that Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic is now being put up for sale, putting Tottenham and Newcastle on high alert. The report says that Vucinic is behind Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, and his agent is looking at the two English clubs. But what I’m thinking is the best career move for him would be to go to Newcastle United. Currently at Tottenham, they have Soldado, Defoe and Adebayor has their main striker force, even though Adebayor hasn’t had any game time this season, AVB still like those three as his attacking threat. At Newcastle, they have Papiss Cisse, Shola Ameobi, Sammy Ameobi and Loic Remy this season; only Remy has scored any goals for the Toon, Shola has scored as well but not on a consistent level like Remy. Vucinic has had a prolific career in front of goal so far starting in 1999 with Sutjeska Nikšić in the former Yugoslavia, played 10 games scoring 4 goals in his only season there. Moving to Italian football in 2000 has been ...
KickOff.com rates South Africa’s players following their memorable 1-0 win over Spain at Soccer City on Tuesday night. PLAYER RATINGS: (Out of 10) *9 Itumeleng Khune – Named Man of the Match for a number of good saves throughout the match, including one right at the death when Alvaro Arbeloa could have snatched an equaliser. 7 Anele Ngconga - He defended well, but rarely overlapped which limited his normal game of defending and attacking down the right. 7 Thabo Matlaba - Lots of promising runs, but the final pass always lets him down. 7 Bongani Khumalo – He allowed Fernando Llorente a free header in the 27th minute, though it appeared there was a little push from the Spain forward. But then again he did well to block David Villa's left footed shot, also in the first half. 7 Thabo Nthethe – He gave away the ball cheaply at times in the first half, but came out strongly in the second half and rarely looked in trouble. 8 Andile Jali - He showed very little respect for Spain’s midfielders and was at ...
Bafana Bafana shock Spain Bernard Parker's clinical second half finish handed Bafana Bafana a shock 1-0 victory over World and European Champions Spain, in an international friendly at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night. Parker coolly finished off a flowing move by the home side, as Spain were brushed aside and had no reply in front of a boisterous home crowd, which was tremendous throughout and willed Bafana to a historic victory in Johannesburg. The home side started with a high defensive line, which caught Spain in several offside calls. In attack, Bafana were made to work to get hold of the ball, but South Africa would soon threaten the Spanish defence. Oupa Manyisa's deflected effort struck the crossbar, then Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas made a straightforward stop from Bernard Parker's long-range attempt. Fernando Llorente should have done better when he rose above Bafana defender Bongani Khumalo and put his header wide of target. Daylon Claasen went on to put his effort high and wide of the mark. ...
Willian scored his first goal for Brazil as they comfortably defeated Honduras 5-0 in Miami, with our three other Brazilians also featuring. David Luiz captained the side in the absence of Thiago Silva, and went close to scoring with a header in the first half. He was replaced with 73 minutes played, by which time Brazil were four goals up. Oscar also started the game, making way for Ramires in the 65th minute. The latter went close to adding a sixth late on but his dinked effort was well saved. But it was Willian who had the greatest impact on the game following his 47th minute introduction. It was his cross that Dante, the Bayern Munich defender, converted in the 55th minute to double Brazil's advantage, Bernard having opened the scoring in the first period. Maicon netted a third before Willian , playing in his first game for Brazil since 2011, got in on the act himself, neatly converting a Hulk cut-back on 70 minutes to make the score 4-0. Hulk added a fifth to ensure another emphatic Brazil friendly w ...
International Friendly: Equatorial Guinea 1 Spain 2 Santi Cazorla and Juanfran were on target as Spain laboured to a 2-1 friendly victory over Equatorial Guinea. The world champions dominated the majority of the game in Malabo on Saturday but were wasteful in front of goal, with substitute Fernando Llorente particularly guilty. Andoni Goikoetxea's charges briefly threatened a shock draw when Jimmy Bermudez cancelled out Arsenal midfielder Cazorla's opener, but Juanfran's winner spared Spain's blushes. Spain produced the best openings of the first half and Jesus Navas' lob almost put the visitors ahead efore Cazorla capitalised on a mistake from Danilo. Equatorial Guinea equalised through Bermudez's header, but the sides were level for just seven minutes as Juanfran thrashed home from close range. Spain had several opportunities to increase the lead and Llorente thought he had added a third, only for Andres Iniesta to be ruled offside in the build-up. Vicente Del Bosque took the opportunity to rest several ...

Juve stun Napoli, Roma pegged back (AFP) Sunday 10 November 2013 Print Email my friend Share Juventus pounced on a costly blunder by Roma to close the gap on the Serie A leaders to just one point after turning on the style to rout fellow title challengers Napoli 3-0 in Turin. League newcomers Sassuolo stunned Roma at the Olympic Stadium by levelling in second-half injury time for a 1-1 draw. It gave both sides incentive, but Juve seized on home advantage to produce a dominant display and claim their tenth win of the campaign to close the gap to one point. Spain striker Fernando Llorente tapped home for Juve in the second minute and from then on Napoli struggled to find any rhythm. Napoli coach Rafael Benitez hinted that Llorente's early goal had shell-shocked his side, but admitted he could not argue with the Bianconeri's two other "quality" goals. "When you concede a goal so quickly in this stadium, it's never easy to get back into the match," Benitez told Sky Sport Italia. "But in the second half Juve s ...
Juventus 3 - 0 Napoli Llorente 2 (J), Pirlo 74 (J), Pogba 80 (J) Napoli aside 3-0 thanks to Fernando Llorente, Andrea Pirlo and a spectacular Paul Pogba volley, moving within a point of Roma. Roma’s draw against Sassuolo earlier today meant whoever won this Scudetto showdown would close to just one point from the leaders. Giorgio Chiellini, Martin Caceres, Mirko Vucinic, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Simone Pepe were out for the hosts, so Angelo Ogbonna received a rare start. Carlos Tevez faced his fellow countryman Gonzalo Higuain with Lorenzo Insigne picked ahead of Dries Mertens. Giandomenico Mesto and Juan Camilo Zuniga are long-term absentees. In the opening minute Pepe Reina clawed away a Paul Pogba effort, but from that corner Carlos Tevez hit a backheel flick that Fernando Llorente tapped in from six yards. However, replays show the Spaniard was marginally offside, as his foot and knee were over. Reina needed a spectacular reaction save to deny Leonardo Bonucci’s header from point-blank range after ...
Juve hold Real in 2-2 thriller Arturo Vidal and Fernando Llorente wiped out Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in a sparkling Juventus 2-2 Real Madrid. It can still be a positive result, as Copenhagen beat Galatasaray 1-0 in the other game. This means Juve are bottom, but only one point shy of the other two teams. This was a must-win game for the Bianconeri, who had just two points from three Champions League Group B games. Giorgio Chiellini was suspended after his controversial red card in the 2-1 defeat at the Bernabeu, so Kwadwo Asamoah was used on the left to counter Gareth Bale in a 4-3-3, but Mirko Vucinic and Stephan Lichtsteiner were still sidelined. Carlo Ancelotti benched Raul Arbeloa, moving Sergio Ramos to right- back. Paul Pogba’s screamer from distance flashed wide after four minutes, while the packed Juventus Stadium crowd jeered loudly whenever Real’s players – dressed all in orange – had the ball. A Cristiano Ronaldo angled drive was inches past the far post, while Fernando Llorent ...
Bayern, City through as Real draw Holders Bayern Munich and their group rivals Manchester City became the first teams to qualify for the knockout stages of this season's UEFA Champions League. Bayern made heavy weather of beating Viktoria Plzen 1-0 while City reached the knockout stages for the first time, after failing to progress from the group stage in the last two seasons, with a 5-2 thumping of CSKA Moscow in Manchester. "That wasn't a festival from us, we made life hard for ourselves," said Bayern's Toni Kroos after his side had equalled the Champions League record of nine successive wins. "In the opening stages, we gave the ball away too often and had too few chances of our own. Nevertheless, we can be proud to have reached the knock-out stage." Real Madrid came close to joining them, but having gone 2-1 up in Turin against Juventus they were pegged back to 2-2 with a goal by former Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente. Cristiano Ronaldo's opener for Real took him level for the all-time total ...

Ronaldo double sinks 10-man Juventus 24 October By Iain Rogers Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo continued his blistering start to Real Madrid's Champions League campaign when he struck twice in a 2-1 win at home to 10-man Juventus on Tuesday that put Real firmly in charge of Group B. The Portuguese forward's double took his goal tally in Europe's elite club competition to seven in three appearances this season, only the second player to achieve the feat after AC Milan's Filippo Inzaghi. Ronaldo, who has also been on prolific form in La Liga, put Real ahead in fourth minute at the Bernabeu when he sped onto Angel Di Maria's pass, rounded Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and finished superbly from a tight angle. Spain forward Fernando Llorente levelled for the visitors in the 22nd minute before the referee ruled Giorgio Chiellini had impeded Sergio Ramos in the penalty area and Ronaldo put away the 29th-minute spot kick. Italy centre back Chiellini had a night to forget as he was shown a straight red card three m ...
Cristiano Ronaldo helps Real Madrid beat Juventus Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid beat Juventus 2-1 to maintain their 100% Champions League record. Ronaldo opened the scoring with a dinked finish but Fernando Llorente equalised from close range before Ronaldo scored a penalty, his seventh goal in three Champions League games. Juve had Giorgio Chiellini sent off before Real's Gareth Bale came on for the last 23 minutes. Galatasaray went second in Group B, above Juve, by beating FC Copenhagen. Felipe Melo, Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba scored the goals for Roberto Mancini's side in their 3-1 win, with Claudemir scoring a late consolation. GROUP A Stefan Kiessling Bayer Leverkusen moved above Shakhtar Donetsk into second place thanks to a 4-0 win over the Ukrainians. Stefan Kiessling scored twice for the Bundesliga side, with Simon Rolfes and Sidney Sam also netting. Manchester United remain top thanks to their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad, who are still bottom without a point. GROUP C Zlatan ...
Paul Pogba lamented the red card shown to Giorgio Chiellini during Juventus' 2-1 UEFA Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. Chiellini was shown a straight red card for an alleged elbow on Cristiano Ronaldo two minutes after the interval in the Group B encounter, with Juventus already trailing 2-1. Ronaldo had put Madrid in front inside four minutes and added a penalty after Fernando Llorente's equaliser for the Italians midway through the first half. Pogba felt Chiellini's red card had a huge bearing on the result, which leaves Antonio Conte's side third in the group with just two points from three matches.

Wenger To Finally Sign Long-Term Striker Target? According to reports today, Juventus striker Fernando Llorente wants to join Arsenal in January. We were strongly linked with the Spaniard a year ago with Arsene Wenger understood to be a big fan of the 28-year-old’s. However, he ended up signing a pre-contract agreement with Juve and joined the Serie A champions on a free transfer from Athletic Bilbao in the summer. But his time in Italy has not gone according to plan and he’s been forced to sit on the sidelines for much of the season with Carlos Tevez and Marko Vucinic preferred up front by boss Antonio Conte. With the 2014 World Cup on the horizon it seems Llorente is beginning to get concerned about his chances of making the Spain squad, and the Mirror claim he’s now ready to seek a move and is keen on coming to the Emirates when the transfer window re-opens in January. Wenger is almost certainly going to be in the market for another striker this winter, unless Nicklas Bendtner finds some miraculo ...

Tottenham are being linked with another of the continents top young talent with reports in The Express claiming Andre Villas-boas is about to make a move for Ibai Gomez. The Spaniard currently plys his trade in La Liga with Athletic Bilbao. Tottenham are actively looking to bolster their forward ranks with AVB not keen on Harry Kane or Emmanuel Adebayor and there is money in the pot to spend again in January. Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe are the only two forwards in AVB’s thinking at the moment and therefore there would be room for another forward in the mix. Gomez is not a prolific forward by any means, he has only hit four goals in over fifty appearances for Bilbao, but at 23 years old he is still a young prospect. Bilbao look to Gomez as the natural successor to Fernando Llorente, who departed the club for Serie A and would be reluctant to let him go. The fact that Spurs are interested in Gomez is the clearest indicator yet of Tottenham’s new transfer policy. With Franco Baldini operating in a ...

Serie A: Juventus 2 Hellas Verona 1 Fernando Llorente scored on his first start for Juventus as a 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona got them back to winnings ways in Serie A. Despite dominating the early exchanges, the hosts fell behind in the 36th minute as Fabrizio Cacciatore knocked home from close range, but that goal served as a motivator for the champions. Carlos Tevez, who had squandered an earlier chance, equalised in style five minutes before the break and then Llorente nodded in right at the end of the first period. That proved to be enough to give Juve the points after draws against Inter and Copenhagen in the last week. Following their UEFA Champions League exploits in Copenhagen on Tuesday, coach Antonio Conte shook things up by making five changes. Marco Storari, Andrea Barzagli, Mauricio Isla, Kwadwo Asamoah and Llorente all came into the starting XI, replacing Gianluigi Buffon, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Giorgio Chiellini, Federico Peluso and Fabio Quagliarella. Juventus play down Fernando Llorente speculation Juventus insist there is no issue with Fernando Llorente as speculation over his future mounts. Llorente joined Juve in the summer on a high-profile Bosman free transfer from Athletic Bilbao, who left him on the bench for much of last season because of his refusal to sign a new deal with the club. But 28-year-old Llorente has featured just once as a substitute this term and reports claim that clubs from England and Spain are taking a keen interest in his situation as he appears to be anything but first choice under Antonio Conte. However, Juve director general Beppe Marotta insists that they are looking long-term with Llorente, particularly given his recent lack of action. "There is no Llorente problem. Don't forget that he didn't play that regularly last season," he said. "When we sign a player and hand him a four-year contract, we're evidently not looking for immediate results in the space of one or two months. "We believe in him and it is too early to ju ...
