WOW, The sunburst Fender Stratocaster guitar that Bob Dylan plugged in when he famously went electric at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival sold at auction for a record $965,000. The performance marked Dylan's move from acoustic folk to electric rock 'n' roll. Seen as a defining moment that changed American music, the three-song electric set at the festival was met with boos and folk purists saw Dylan as a traitor and a sellout. The previous record for a guitar sold at auction was held by Eric Clapton's Fender, nicknamed "Blackie," which sold at Christie's for $959,500 in 2004. Interesting is that Dylan left the guitar on the private plane he flew out on, maybe indicating at the time he may have felt the bold move was a mistake…(it's tough being boo'd). The pilot has kept the guitar for over 50 years, tried to contact Dylan’s people who never responded. also found in the case with the guitar were hand and typewritten lyric fragments which included an early draft of "Absolutely Sweet Marie" from Dylan's .. ...

Today for me has been a huge emotionally charged day,there I was laying on the couch totally zonked' out a-la' Chemo effects and was awakend by 2 long time dear friends with a gift from their family + total strangers whom in an effort to raise my spirits and keep them up there presented me...wait for it.A Fender 'Eric Clapton' Stratocaster.."Blackie"...all had chipped in and bought me this,a guitar I had always wanted..I couldn't speak and burst into tears and remained that way for a while and even now the lump in my throat is growing..This is what friends are all about and so glad I am lucky enough to have them and a special thanks too for Shannon and all at "GUITAR WORLD" in Mandurah who helped out.What can I say...a totally special moment which I will 'never forget' Wonderful moment for me.love you all so much.
