The Commander’s Letter was sent out this week.  One letter is sent out for each SIT, and your SIT decides who receives the letter.    You will find the dates, and times for Family Day, and Graduation!  Please don’t worry.  As we get closer, we will post lots of information, including timelines for both days, maps, and directions to help you find your way.     COMMANDER'S LETTER   Dear Family and Friends,   Your Soldier recently reported to Fort Benning, Georgia to begin intense training that will prepare him to become a member of one of the country’s most respected professions, the United States Army Infantry.  He is assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment.   As your Soldier may have already told you, his stay here has been, and will continue to be, filled with challenges he has never faced before.  The nation depends on the 198th Infantry Brigade to develop the world’s finest Infantrymen to serve in its defense.  With this purpose in mind, my Drill Sergeants and ...
Friday, Charlie Company welcomed 165 new Soldiers from Class 30-28 to Fort Benning, Georgia. The Soldiers will be conducting 14 weeks of training and graduate as full blooded Infantrymen on June 7th, 2013. Please wish the Soldiers and their families good luck as they join the page over the next few months. Feel free to share experiences, extend moral support, etc., but use caution when speaking about specifics regarding Family Day & Graduation as each cycle is a little bit different. The commander's letter outlining specifics regarding the next class' Family Day, Holiday Block Leave, Turning Blue, and Graduation will be posted this week. Also, look for it in the mail as each Soldier gets 1 copy to mail home. Photos and more from fill weekend to follow soon. Good luck Charlie Company!
Friends and Families, Another we day here at Fort Benning. There is an old adage in the army that says if it aint raining we aint training. I am not sure how true that actually is since we train constantly here, but who knows maybe somewhere in the Army they let people off for sunny days (not any units I have ever been a part of). Now there have been alot of questions about Family day. I owe you an update and some times are still being hammered out, but origionally the plan was to have the formal portion of Family Day the morning of 23 March on Saturday. This has changed and we will be having the formal portion of Family day late in the afternoon on 22 March, so on Friday. This will give you an extra night with your SIT. I will post more information as it becomes avaliable, but I wanted to give you the opprotunity to adjust your plans as soon as possible. -CPT Rice
What kind of ID do I need to get in the gate?  When going through the gate, everyone over 16 years old must present a government-issued picture ID such a driver’s license, passport or state ID.   Do children need a photo ID?  If so, what is the age cut-off? Only those older than 16 years of age.   How early can we be to the Brave Rifles Field for the Graduation and Safety Brief? 0945 is a recommended arrival time.   Do we have to attend the Commander’s Safety Brief? Family members must attend the Commander’s safety brief in order to sign out a Soldier.    How far away from Fort Benning can we travel with our Soldier? No more than 50 miles.   What if we don’t make it in time for the Ceremony at 1000? Where will our Soldier be so we can pick him up? You will have to coordinate for your Soldier to be picked up. He will get his cell phone prior to Family Day to make coordination. The Soldier cannot stay at the Troop. Soldiers will sign themselves out and they can call for a taxi to take them w ...
