The hope of Israel part 1. I often hear if everything has been fulfilled what is our hope today? My answer to that question is? What does the bible say about the "Hope of Israel"? After all the bible is about the hope of Israel’s patriarchs. If the Bible shows their hope was fulfilled then we need to move behind their hope into the full assurance of God’s promises to them. Jesus said salvation was of the Jews/Israel. ( John 4:2) To obtain a full answer to this question it is necessary that we search the Scriptures from beginning to end. We turn back now to the Old Testament scriptures for the purpose of ascertaining what is foretold therein concerning the future of the Israel people. First we direct our attention to the patriarchal era, in order to learn what it was that the prophets of Israel foretold. This is the proper place to begin our inquiry. One of the two major passages on the hope of Israel in the Old Testament is found in Hosea. Hosea 13:14 I will ransom them from the power ...
Thoughts to Ponder On the Transfiguration of Christ The Transfiguration of Christ revealed His glory. The shepherds saw this glory when the angels declared Christ was born; this glory broke out when He turned water to wine. In the Old Testament, God had filled the tabernacle with His glory. He declared that idolatry robbed Him of His glory and after years of this by Israel His glory departed in the days of Samuel. (1 Sam. 4:22). The moment of change seen by the disciples was a moment not seen since the days of the prophets (1 Kings 8:11). Moses and Elijah are often said to represent the Law and the prophets which gave Christ witness and so it is why they are at the mountain together. But Scripture gives us two other important reasons. Moses is there to show us what we will be like between death and the resurrection; that is why we are told in 2 Cor. 5:7-8 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord Elija ...
Exploring The Old Testament kicks off with a pre-Exploration briefing by Moh Ying today! The Old Testament comprises 39 books, 929 chapters and 23,214 verses, covering natural history, laws, poetry, philosophical discussions and prophecies. It can be categorised into: 1) The Pentateuch 2) Historical Books 3) Poetry and Wisdom Books 4) Major Prophets 5) Minor Prophets The Faith church family will be starting on a study of the Pentateuch come 13 Feb. The Pentateuch is the name for the first five books of the Old Testament, namely Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Let's look at the plot line according to the books: A) The Promise (Genesis) - Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit - Paradise is lost - The flood - The Tower of Babel - God's restoration plan through Abraham's lineage B) His Presence (Exodus) - Slavery in Egypt - The Ten Plagues - Moses leading the Israelites - The Ten Commandments C) His Holiness (Leviticus) - Laws and instructions given at Mount Sinai D) The Testing (Number ...
More miracle predictions of the Bible in the form of people, events, etc. that happened in the Old Testament and were fulfilled by Jesus! JESUS said: "AS the days of Noah were, SO shall also the coming of the Son of Man be." Matt. 24:37. ( Jesus is describing what people will be like in the last days. There will be much violence, and people will ignore God, etc...) The writer to the Hebrews tells us that the "Types" are but the "SHADOW OF GOOD THINGS TO COME, AND NOT THE VERY IMAGE OF THE THING." Heb. 10:1... So the Old Testament Types are "shadows" in the sense that they are not the "Real Thing, " and are but imperfect revelations of it. A "Type" then is some "person, " or "event, " or "ceremony" that is recorded to "foreshadow" some future "person, " or "event", or "ceremony." The Bible is saying that these types, people, events are predictions, or prophetic pictures of Jesus, who would come to earth later! "AS in Adam all die, even SO in Christ shall all be made alive." 1Cor. 15:22. JESUS said: "AS Mo ...
Rev 11:1-2– In order to make sense of this passage one needs to know something about the sanctuary/temple descriptions in the Old Testament. This is clear from the Greek word “temple” (naos) in verse 1, recalling the language of tabernacle and temple in the OT. While the word naos can refer to the entire temple complex, including the outer court (normally the word hieron is used for the whole), it normally focuses on the innermost part of the temple, the holy places or most often the Most Holy Place itself. Jesus was often found teaching or acting in the hieron (Matt 21:12, 23; Mark 11:11, 15; Luke 19:45; and John 7:14, to mention only a few occurrences), but few entered into the innermost precincts of the temple and only the High Priest entered the Holiest and that only once a year.
Recently I was shown a very impressive model kit of the tabernacle furniture set used by Israel during Old Testament times. Each piece was well researched and designed on a scale of 1 to 10 to be as accurate as possible to the Scriptures. I was eager to order the set. The staff, ministry assistants and interns just now surprised me by giving it to me as a Christmas gift. They were going to present it to me during our Christmas party in a few weeks but feared I wouldn't wait to order it. Thank you, team! I am so honored and grateful to minister with the men and women working together at Faith! What a blessing!
