Uche, Musa lead Eagles attack against South Africa By Femi Adefioye, Lagos The Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi has made two changes to the side that won Congo in Pointe Noire last Saturday as the team takes on South Africa’s Bafana Bafana this evening in Uyo Keshi hopes that forwards Emmanuel Emenike and Ikechukwu Uche will be joined by Ahmed Musa in the attack as the African champions will be hoping to secure victory which will confirm their place for Equatorial Guinea 2015. Raheem Lawal will replace Hope Akpan in the midfield with Ogenyi Onazi and Obi Mikel expected to hold middle against Ephraim Mashaba’s side. Onazi did not take part in Tuesday’s training exercise held at the main bowl of the Akwa Ibom Stadium with reasons for that not revealed. Eagles will welcome back Kenneth Omeruo into the starting line up as he will be replacing Godfrey Oboabona who is out of this encounter due to card offences. NHL Stanley Cup Memorabilia from The Bradford Exchange Online
There will be no Africa Cup of Nations defence for Nigeria when the best of the continent file out in Equatorial Guinea next January following Super Eagles 2-2 home draw with South Africa in Uyo wednesday night. Just like in 2012 when Equatorial Guinea co-hosted that year’s edition with Gabon, Super Eagles are going to be conspicuously missing in action. It is even worse this time around because Nigeria has joined the unenviable list of cup holder like Zambia who failed to defend their title at the very next edition. Against all expectations, Coach Stephen Keshi and his wards finished in a dismal third place in the Group ‘A’ of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers. South Africa topped the group on 12 points while Congo Brazzaville snatched the second ticket on 10 points following their 1-0 victory over Sudan. Bournemouth striker, Tokelo Rantie, was the star of the South African team with his brilliant brace. After several wasted efforts by the Nigerian forward with Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike and Ike Uche the ...
Backpass, November 17 English With the Super Eagles back home in Nigeria preparing for the most important game of the qualification race against South Africa on Wednesday after the 2-0 win over Congo at the weekend, Eagles' skipper, Vincent Enyeama has said it was a wonderful performance from all the players, but Nigeria is yet to qualify, so Nigerians should wish the team well and pray for success of the Super Eagles. Meanwhile, second choice goalkeeper, Austin Ejide has admonished football loving Nigerians to stop being negative about the Super Eagles. Elsewhere, Super Eagles hit man, Emmanuel Emenike has said that Nigerians should expect a tough game against South Africa on Wednesday. Deliberation: What aspect(s) of the Super Eagles' game still needs improvement(s) as they warm up for a final qualification showdown against South Africa's Bafana Bafana?
Emmanuel Emenike Vs Ikechukwu Uche: Who Should Start For Nigeria ? As the Super Eagles plan to battle the Congolese in a must win match tomorrow, who would be the better option upfront in attack for SE? The Villarreal forward has returned to the Super Eagles squad, but should he usurp the off-colour Fenerbahce man and start against Congo? Stephen Keshi has returned to the dug-out, but he may not be Nigeria's only comeback king for the double-header against the Republic of Congo and South Africa. After 25 games in the wilderness, Ikechukwu Uche has been named in the Super Eagles squad. The Villarreal hitman hasn't featured for the continental champions since the victorious Cup of Nations triumph over Burkina Faso in early 2013. The West Africans are desperate, however, and with star striker Emmanuel Emenike misfiring, Keshi might be tempted to recall Uche to the starting XI for the upcoming fixtures. Should the Big Boss return the veteran poacher (uche) to the first team, or should Emenike be allowed to co ...
Going to Pointe Noire: Today is significant in our quest to defend the Africa Cup of Nations’ diadem that we won in South Africa on February 10, 2013. It is not enough for the players to make promises. It is important to ask the coaches if they have reconciled the warring factions in the team. Has the chief coach truly forgiven Ikechukwu Uche? How would Uche feel today, if the coaches place him on the bench? Will Uche give his best if introduced? Is it true that Emmanuel Emenike and the coaches don’t talk to one another? The coaches have to face the fact that players must be prepared to play. Aggrieved players cannot give their best. The coaches and the players must, therefore, embrace peace. No squabbles. What Nigerians crave for today is victory. We must leave the pitch today with the same seven points as Congo. This will only happen if we beat them. It is possible only with a united house. It will be a big shame if Nigeria doesn’t qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations from a group that has Congo, ...

Captain John Terry said before the team's departure: “We are playing two very good sides so it will be good competition which is what we need before our season kicks off. “It'll be two very intense 45-minute games. Nigeria Player Shutdown Brazil Salon. It was an odd place to find three international footballers on the eve of a crucial World Cup game, inside a small hair salon located on the forecourt of a gas station on the outskirts of a remote Brazilian city. But there they were, Nigeria stars Emmanuel Emenike, Kenneth Omeruo and Ahmed Musa, eager for a new style and color touch-ups for the big match against Bosnia-Herzegovina. "They are very vain," said Dirce Cardoso, owner of the Salao de Beleza Aeroporto in southern Cuiaba. "They wanted to be pampered." So Cardoso obliged. She canceled her other appointments, closed the salon and gave the footballers the full VIP treatment. Two of them got a Mohican and two of them had their hair dyed black. Total cost: $71 — and Cardoso was even treated to a ticket for the match.~SSG News.

Chelsea offered striker for £15million Emmanuel Emenike could become a Chelsea player this Summer Chelsea have reportedly been offered Emmanuel Emenike by Turkish side Fenerbache for as little as £15million. The Blues are still on the lookout for a new striker, despite signing Atletico Madrid man Diego Costa for £32m, but boss Jose Mourinho, is still keen on adding a partner for Costa, as he still doesn't trust Demba Ba or Fernando Torres. The 27-year-old had an impressive World Cup with Nigeria, who were narrowly defeated last night against France, and also scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for club last season, and he has now been offered to the Premier League side for just £15m. Chelsea, who are also monitoring Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic, could be interested in signing the Nigerian on the cheap and it's believed the two teams will discuss further.
Chelsea are hoping to wrap up a quick-fire deal for Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike after making a £16million bid for his services. Turkish newspaper Fanatik reports that Blues manager Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the forward, and decided to slap in the offer this week after watching him at the World Cup in Brazil. Emenike has helped the Nigeria team reach the knockout stages of the tournament, on the back of an excellent season at Fenerbahce, where he scored 12 goals and picked up nine assists. The 27-year-old only moved to Turkey last summer from Spartak Moscow in a £10million deal, but Fenerbahce are happy to make a quick profit on him. Emenike admitted recently he is desperate to move to the Premier League in the future, and a transfer could now be concluded quickly. ‘I have always dreamed of playing in England,’ he said. ‘If I get the opportunity to play in England – I wouldn’t turn it down.’ Chelsea are planning to overhaul their striker options with Diego Costa set to arrive from ...
Round of 16 France (2) Nigeria(0) . France have marched through to the Fifa World Cup quarter-finals with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Nigeria in Brasilia. Didier Deschamps' side were given a tough time of it by the African champions, but edged this tight encounter in the Estadio Nacional thanks to a Paul Pogba header and an injury-time own goal by Joseph Yobo. The French started as firm favourites and it was they who created the game's first noteworthy opportunity, when Olivier Giroud twisted into space only to slice his left-foot shot wide from 20 yards. However, it was Nigeria who looked the sharper and more purposeful side for much of the first half, and it wasn't long before they were causing major problems at the other end. The Super Eagles looked, in fact, to have taken the lead after 19 minutes when Emmanuel Emenike prodded into the net from Ahmed Musa's inswinging right-footed cross. Nigerian celebrations were to prove short-lived, though, with Emenike having strayed narrowly offside. For France, P ...
Nigeria's Emmanuel Emenike had a first-half goal ruled out for offside before Vincent Enyeama saved Pogba's volley. Victor Moses cleared Karim Benzema's shot off the line after the break and Yohan Cabaye volleyed against the bar. Pogba headed home after Enyeama's misjudgement before Yobo diverted Mathieu Valbuena's cross into the net. France will play the winners of Monday night's match between Algeria and Germany in the quarter-finals.
I read that Nigeria's uniform sponsor Adidas asked striker Emmanuel Emenike to change his name.
Below are the players expected to start the match against the Les Blues of France: Vincent Enyeama; Efe Ambrose, Joseph Yobo, Juwon Oshaniwa, Kenneth Omeruo; Ogenyi Onazi, John Mikel Obi; Ahmed Musa, Peter Odemwingie, Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike. France’s coach, Didier Deschamps has also announced a deadly squad against the Nigerian team. Below is the team list released moments ago: Lloris (c), Debuchy, Evra, Varane, Cabaye, Valbuena, Giroud, Benzema, Matuidi, Pogba and Koscielny

Stephen Keshi deserves credit The truth of the matter is that all pundits, bloggers and analysts of the beautiful game are just there to theorise and guess. The coaches and the players who do the job are the best placed to make comments, predictions and judgements. Say what you like, Stephen Keshi knows his job. He has been very successful at his job as head coach of the Nigerian national team. He has the stats to back up his achievements thus far. A solitary strike by Osaze Odemwigie, following some strong play down the right by the battering ram that is Emmanuel Emenike, was enough for Nigeria to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina. That win knocked out the European side from the group, gave Nigeria four points and broke Nigeria's record of no World Cup win since France '98. A favourable line call had denied Bosnia's Man City striker Edin Dzeko a clear goal but that was probably evened up when the same player clearly handled the ball as he controlled it and turned to take a shot in injury time. Keeper Vincent Enyea ...
and Herzegovina exited their first World Cup after a 1-0 loss to Nigeria on Saturday night. Their Group F fate might have been so different if Edin Dzeko did not have a legitimate goal inexplicably ruled offside. Still, Nigeria were good for their own lead, enjoying their own share of the first-half possession. Peter Odemwingie finished coolly after Emmanuel Emenike's powerful run and pinpoint cross from the right wing. Safet Susic's side never quite recovered from the setbacks, losing the momentum that had appeared to be gathering. Though they had their chances, they did not trouble Nigeria enough to truly deserve anything from this game. The African Cup of Nations holders move into second place in the group but face a tough test against Argentina next week. Their fate may be decided by Bosnia and Herzegovina's ability to get up for their final game with Iran.
Peter Odemwingie's first-half goal gave Nigeria a 1-0 win over Bosnia in World Cup Group F on Saturday and condemned the European team to an early exit in their first appearance in the finals. The Nigerians' first World Cup finals victory since 1998 put them on four points from two games, two less than Argentina who they meet in the final group match on Wednesday with top spot at stake. Nigeria took the lead after 29 minutes when Odemwingie fed Emmanuel Emenike on the right wing and raced into the box to receive the striker's low return before clipping the ball under goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The Bosnian bench angrily protested that Emenike had fouled captain Emir Spahic as he bundled past him into the box before making his cross. The tournament newcomers had earlier been denied a goal in a poor offside decision against striker Edin Dzeko after he ran on to a through pass and beat goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in the 21st minute. Dzeko had another shot saved by Enyeama but he was well off target with chances ...
Nigeria 1 : 0 Bosnia. Wonder what the critics would say now...bury their heads in shame? A great spirited performance. Thanks to the golden trinity of Vicente Enyeama, Osaze Odemwinge and Emmanuel Emenike. However, mother luck smiled on us. Edin Dzeko'S GOAL WAS NOT AN OFFSIDE!

When the Super Eagles step out against Bosnia-Herzegovina in a make or mar encounter which would determine their stay in the Brazil 2014 World Cup, they may not be united Sports Vanguard can reveal authoritatively that a deep-rooted animosity in the camp has finally torn the team into three camps with each camp commanding their own loyalists. On one side of the camp are players who are loyal to skipper Joseph Yobo and who want him to make a record appearance for the Eagles after hitting 98 caps, while the second group are loyalists to one of the assistant coaches of the team who has been described as very influential in the camp. This group consists of players he was said to have influenced their selection. They are alleged to be very bitter with Emmanuel Emenike who is the point-man of the Eagles. They alleged that Emenike has become swollen-headed, proud and arrogant and therefore have vowed to cut him to size by not giving him passes. This could be attributed to the colourless outing of Emenike who bef ...
Poor outing: Osaze failed to play to instruction says Keshi The no-love-lost relationship between Stephen Keshi and Stoke City wonder-boy Osaze Odemwingie that saw him nearly miss the World Cup is still very much in the team. Osaze had apologized to Keshi before he was recalled to the national team and to the World Cup but Keshi sacrificed Ike Uche, another red-hot Nigerian attacker who scores goals with eyes closed on charges of being ‘technically indisciplined”. And on a night that Keshi’s team were rudderless except for Osaze who brought vim and vitality to the attack, Keshi still threw potshots at Osaze for not playing to instructions. A journalist had complained about the blunt attack of the Eagles but singled out Osaze for bringing fire to the attack when Keshi bared his fangs on the Stoke City player. ‘’No. No, No. Osaze didn’t play well. What he played was not the role I asked him to play”, he said leaving many journalists bewildered. On a night that Emmanuel Emenike was a shadow of ...
Nigeria fail to handle Iran, makes advancement to 2nd Round an uphill task It was only a matter of time before the free-scoring 2014 Fifa World Cup™ produced its first goalless stalemate, and Iran and Nigeria provided it, playing out a 0-0 draw in Curitiba at the Arena da Baixada. It was a game of very few clear-cut chances and the result sees both sides collect a point from their Group F opener, good enough for a share of second place. Nigeria took control early on but failed to turn possession and superior athleticism into goals. Emmanuel Emenike sent in a teasing low cross for Victor Moses early on, but the Chelsea striker - who has had precious few chances to shine with on loan with Liverpool this term - failed to poke home a sliding effort. Jon Obi Mikel orchestrated things in the middle of the park for the Nigerians over the course of the first half, while Carlos Queiroz’s Iran managed to produce precious little in the way of possession or attack. The African champions suffered a blow midway thr ...
I'm not a footballer, coach nor analyst. But I hope this hasn't robbed me of the right to an opinion on the worst match in Brazil so far between Nigeria and Iran. I think the Nigerian team was terrible. It lacked character, creativity and purpose. Let me be more specific. Mikel Obi didn't live up to expectations. No creativity, flexibility, no sense of adventure in the midfield- he was just a robot programmed by himself to throw inaccurate long passes right from the blow of the whistle till the end. With such an experience player not taking the game to Iran, one can understand why a relatively inexperienced Ramon Azeez was ineffective. What about the striker, Emmanuel Emenike? He was not tactful- always looking for the ball outside position meant he was going to render himself less useful in the match. He was frustrated through out the game. Ahmed Musa, a left-legged player, was virtually playing his position. The only time Ahmed Musa made an impact was on the 90th minute when he made a fine cross that c ...
There have been a lot of very good games in this World Cup and there are likely to be many more, but don't expect this to be one of them. Nigeria haven't looked terribly creative in World Cup qualifying or warm-up friendlies, while Iran are almost certainly the most defensive team in this tournament. Remember how most of the games at the 2010 World Cup were slow and disjointed? Iran vs. Nigeria should be a lot like that. That's not to say there's not talent here, though. Nigeria certainly have lots of it, and could force Iran to attempt to play soccer if they can score early. Victor Moses had a bad season at Liverpool, but he's still dangerous, while his forward mates Ahmed Musa and Emmanuel Emenike are in solid form. Iran's Ashkan Dejagah isn't bad either, while Reza Ghoochannejhad has a stunningly great goal record and Alireza Jahanbakhsh might surprise.
Emmanuel Emenike; Flop of the match ??? Now, the absence of Brown Ideye is beginning 2 surface & tell on Emenike's performance. So many questions to be answered, should we say winning the AFCON was just luck ? When I complained about the removal of Brown Ideye, Sunday Mba and Nosa Igiebor, people said series of things that Coaches make decisions and Keshi's own is not an exception. Would Keshi tell us that he intensionally drew against Iran so he can get maximum points 4rm both Argentina & Bosnia ? Will u in ur own view tell me the technicalities in that view ? Can u tell me if Azeez Ramon is better than Sunday Mba or even Ejike Uzoenyi ? Can u tell me why Ahmed Musa still remain in that team ? Does it seem like there were instructions 4rm the Coaches to the players ? Finally: I think Boko haram should just bring back our girls and take away the Eagles and there coaching crew...

Mikel, Emenike Fight: Keshi, Ameobi Wade in By Emameh Gabriel John Obi Mikel and Emmanuel Emenike, both of whom are senior members of the Nigerian Super Eagles went for each other’s throats, two days to the World Cup. However, head Coach of the team, Stephen Keshi had to play the role of a father in settling a dispute between Chelsea. Aside Keshi, Shola Amoebi, Newcastle forward and the oldest and most experienced among the players, also stepped in, advising his team mates to see need to remain united as the only strength and motivating factors that would guarantee their success in the tournament. The duo of Mikel and Emenike had a bust up following the 0-0 draw against Greece on Wednesday last week, but finally resolved to put the disagreement behind them for sake of the team and the country as they were seen shook hands and hug after a lengthy meeting initiated and chaired the team’s gaffer, Stephen Keshi. As revealed by a source, “Keshi had a family chat with the boys yesterday and in the meeting ...
The media has been awash with news of the rift between the Super Eagles most potent striker, Emmanuel Emenike and Mikel Obi after the Nigeria versus Greece friendly, but thankfully, this said rift has been settled by the team's chief coach, Stephen Keshi before departing for the World Cup tourney in Brazil.
5 Nigeria Players to Watch at the World Cup Powered by forwards Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses, Nigeria won its first African Cup title in nearly two decades last year. The next step is to achieve something at the World Cup. Emenike was one of the African Cup's top scorers and Moses won the Man of the Match award in the final. Alongside those two, central midfielder John Obi Mikel will likely play a pivotal role in Brazil when the team comes up against Argentina, Bosnia and Iran in Group F. Here are five players to watch: _ EMMANUEL EMENIKE The difference between Nigeria with and Nigeria without Emmanuel Emenike is clear. In the latter stages of last year's African Cup, the Super Eagles powered past Mali 4-1 in the semifinals with him, then sorely missed the injured striker in a tense 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in the final. The 27-year-old Fenerbahce forward continued his good form with crucial goals in Nigeria's World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring twice in Ethiopia for a 2-1 win in the playoffs. ...

Nigeria Announce 23-man World Cup Squad Stephen Keshi did not spring any surprises with his selection for Brazil, with the likes of Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Echiejile making the cut alongside 19 debutants Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has named his 23-man squad players for the Fifa World Cup in Brazil. The reigning African champions will be making their fifth appearance at world football's major showpiece and have been drawn in the same group with Argentina, Iran and Bosnia. Experienced names such as Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Joseph Yobo and Elderson Echiejile who were part of the squad to South Africa 2010 made the final list and will look to make amends for their group stage exit in their last outing. Top scorer of the 29th Africa Cup of Nations, Emmanuel Emenike, Godfrey Oboabona, John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses will be expected to make their World Cup debut when the championship kicks off. Nigeria goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim looked determined to prove his coaches right for selecting him, as he continued to post impressive performances in training. Whenever the goalkeeper took his turn in the post during the sessions, he seemed to go out of his way to frustrate the forwards, especially Emmanuel Emenike and Uche Nwofor. Both strikers were played through during drills, and Agbim matched Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide save for save. On one occasion, Emenike came one on one with the Gombe goalkeeper, and tried to go around him, but Agbim stood his ground, made himself big and palmed the ball away from the forward, then sprang up quickly, backtracked to his line to fingertip the ball away to safety. “I’m just trying to do my best,” he told KickOffNigeria.com afterwards. “Whether I play or not, I just have to be ready because this is football you can be called anytime.” The post Agbim impresses in training appeared first on The Nation. posted on June 07, 2014 at 01:39AM Send an email to ...
Nigeria 0 vs 0 Greece(FT). Nigeria dominated the match but couldn't convert the few Chances. Greece came close few times on counter-attack but where kept at bay by Enyeama. Nigeria showed poise and determination to score and win the game but met stiff resistance from the resilient Greece team; the defence was fairly compact and John Obi Mikel bossed the midfield and orchestrated most of the attacks, Victor Moses, Michael Uchebo and Emmanuel Emenike played well upfront. Ogenyi Onazi had a shot palmed away, Victor Moses shot narrowly wide and Efe Ambrose headed narrowly wide inside the box. Greece came close with a shot and header dealt with by Enyeama. Man of the match for me is John Obi Mikel.
International friendly match. Final score line: Nigeria 0 - 0 Greece. Super Eagles played some entertaining football against a strong Greek side. The following players impressed me personally, Goal Keeper Vincent Enyeama with great saves, Uchebo (shirt number 25) came on and changed the game to a more attacking football but we were just unlucky not to get a goal for the hard work, Ogenyi Onazi was fantastic in the mid field, and it will be a suicidal mistake if I forget to mention the great performance displayed by the Chelsea man, Victor Moses and in fact he was MY MAN OF THE MATCH. Players who played their normal football were John Obi Mikel, Emmanuel Emenike, Efe Ambrose, Keneth Omeruo, Jose Yobo. Players who didn't seem to be on the pitch were: Ahmed Musa, Osaze Odemwingie, a-21 year old Babatunde who plays in Ukranian League and replaced Osaze Odemwingie. Elderson Echiejile sustained injury and was replaced by Kunle Odunlami. The supporters' Club also did well singing intermittently 'All we are sayin ...

Ejike Uzoenyi dropped! If selections are made base on performance, then Keshi and Co have lots of questions to answer Nigerians on why Ejike Uzoenyi was dropped. Base it on anything, previous or current committment or performance both at the club and National, it saddens to see that Ejike did not make the final 23man list. Personally, aside Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses alongside Osaze Odewingie, no other player should make the cut ahead of Ejeki Uzoenyi upfront. Talk about the just concluded CHAN competition where Nigeria made it debute Ejike was voted the most valuable player. What was Keshi, NFF and other thinking when they dropped Ejike? Hum! I can't believe this.

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles kicked off their 2014 World Cup preparations yesterday with a 2-2 draw against Scotland in London in a game that offered head coach Stephen Keshi the opportunity to look at several fringe players. Playing in front of a near capacity crowd of about 20,156, the Eagles scored a last minute equaliser through Uche Nwofor to clinch a draw. Today, the team flies to the US where it will play two more friendlies against Greece and Team USA on June 3 and 7 respectively before heading to Brazil where it will face Algeria in its last warm-up game on June 11. For yesterday's game, coach Keshi did not even name seven regulars on the team list, indicating that their places on the plane to Brazil are already secure. Mikel Obi, Emmanuel Emenike, Vincent Enyeama, Obinna Nsofor, Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo and Ahmed Musa were not named on the team sheet and appear certain to be among the final 23. Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham are locked in a battle for Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike, who has previously been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea. Shola Ameobi has turned down a one-year extension to stay with Newcastle United and he is set to leave this summer. Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes the £20m signing of Porto's Brazilian midfielder Fernando, 26, will be key to the club's Champions League challenge next season. Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike won the first top-flight league title of his professional career on Sunday when his club Fenerbahce secured the Turkish Superlig crown with three matches to spare. The Super Eagles star featured for 64 minutes as the Istanbul giants were held to a 0:0 at home to international team-mate Godfrey Oboabona's Rizespor. The point was enough for Fener to extend their advantage to an unassailable 12 points.Oboabona, playing in his first season in Europe, made his 17th start in as many appearances for Rizespor who are currently six points clear of the relegation zone in 13th place.Emenike is Fener's second highest goal scorer in the league so far this season with 12 goals in 26 matches, one less than Senegal star Moussa Sow.Elsewhere in the Turkish top-flight, in-form striker John Utaka continued to stake a claim for a place in Nigeria's squad to the World Cup when he scored his fifth goal in his last five league games to help his club Sivasspor to a 3:0 spanking of visitors Besikta ...
I can’t perform without Emenike – Ideye: Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye has revealed that he struggles when he does not play alongside his strike partner in the national team, Emmanuel Emenike. With less than three months to go until Nigeria’s opening World Cup game against Iran, a number of unanswered questions still exist for Stephen Keshi and his Super Eagles. I, along with many of you, had hoped that the recent international friendly against Mexico would answer some of the issues that linger around the squad and the Big Boss’s approach. Unfortunately, the friendly largely failed to elucidate the watching world on some of the enduring questions that Nigeria face ahead of the World Cup. In fact, it was more a case of “like a bathroom wall, the more you look, the more you see” as, rather than questions being answered, a whole new set of potential problems now swirl ahead of the trip to Brazil. So, KickOffNigeria would love to hear your suggestions on these issues and how you see each of these ‘questions’ panning out. Who Will Score the Goals? Okay, okay, so the immediate answer here should be apparent to everyone. Who will score Nigeria’s goals? Well, Emmanuel Emenike will, right? ...

YAYA TOURE VOTED AFRICAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR Yaya Toure was a runaway winner of the 2013 CAF Player of the Year Award, according to a detailed result released by CAF. The 31-year-old Ivorian powerhouse won his third straight award on Thursday after he polled a total of 373 points. Mikel Obi was second on 265 points with Drogba third with 236 points. Only coaches of Nigeria, Sudan, Zambia and Libya voted Mikel as their best player of the past year. This was against the 20 national team coaches who voted Yaya as their best player. Two players tied in fourth place – Jonathan Pitriopa of Burkina Faso and Pierre Aubameyang – after they totalled 202 points each. The other Nigeria stars in the top 10 of nominees were Vincent Enyeama (199 points, sixth), Emmanuel Emenike (191, seventh) and Ahmed Musa (181, ninth).

Glo-Caf Awards: How did Drogba get shortlisted Here's a very interesting question from Gary Al-Smith who asks in his latest blog for supersport.com... "Drogba’s ‘feat’ in the last football year can easily be matched by several of the other shortlisted players. Better than Didier Ahmed Musa was key in Nigeria’s Afcon win last year, featured at the Fifa Confederations Cup later in Brazil and won every title on offer in Russia with CSKA Moscow. Asamoah Gyan captained of the Black Stars from the front, scoring six in the World Cup qualifiers, plus that one goal he scored while playing consistently in the last Afcon (something Didier didn’t). For his Emirati club, Gyan was devilishly accurate – scoring 48 goals as at the time Caf named its nominees. Emmanuel Emenike was one of Africa’s deadliest strikers in the year under review, top scoring at the last Afcon (4 goals) but an injury that ruled him out 8of the Confederations Cup in Brazil. He scored three times in World Cup qualifying. Nigeria wil ...

EMENIKE SCORES AGAIN: Nigerian striker,Emmanuel Emenike scored in his third consecutive game as Fenerbahce recorded a 5-1 win over Kayserispor in a Turkish Super Lig match on Sunday at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium. The Nigeria international scored in the 70th minute to extend Fenerbahce's emphatic win. After a goalless first half, Cristian Baroni gave Fenerbache the lead from the spot in the 52nd minute, but veteran Brazilian striker Bobo equalised for the visitors seven minutes later. Two quick goals from Moussa Sow and Mehmet Topal in the 61st and 63rd minutes respectively restored and extended Fenerbahce's lead, before Emenike added to the scoresheet. "I'm a professional footballer, currently I am wearing the shirt of Fenerbahce and so I must fight for my team to win, that is the normal thing." Emenike cancelled out the opening goal by compatriot Joseph Akpala, but it was not enough as Fenerbache lost their second game of the season. "We went there to win, but that did not happen. It was a nice feeling to play against my old team. The result did not reflect what we wanted in the match.
