and Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Conor Oberst and Elliott Smith. Forever, and ever.
I would love to see Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Conor Oberst and Ryan Adams play a gig together. (Obviously I know this is impossible)
Apples and oranges. But if this was a valid debate, I'd vote Conor Oberst > Elliott Smith ;)
Nightly dilemma - which lovely man shall sing me to sleep? Morrissey, Elliott Smith, or the beloved Conor Oberst?
Look for the Stuck in Love soundtrack when it comes out on June 11. It's fantastic! Score music by Nathaniel Walcott and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, a collaboration between them and Big Harp on a fantastic original song only available on this soundtrack, and great music by Conor Oberst, Wallpaper Airplanes, Like Pioneers, Elliott Smith, Bill Ricchini, and Friends of Gemini. Also, look for Stuck in Love in theaters on June 14! Poignant, well-written, funny film that was penned and directed by a good friend and all around terrific guy.
I really have to get something off my chest: Elliott Smith > Conor Oberst > John Mayer
Would Conor Oberst be the Elliott Smith of my generation? Or would Elliott Smith be the Elliott Smith of my generation?
I love Elliott Smith, but after much consideration, I do believe that I enjoy Conor Oberst's cover of The Biggest Lie just a bit more.
Thank you for dying Elliott Smith, from Conor Oberst.
Read my short story, "Elliott Smith, Conor Oberst, Morrissey, and the Quest for Infinite Sadness"
Many artists/bands have been influenced by Elliott Smith including Conor Oberst, Ben Folds, fences, and third eye blind.
Reflecting: at what point in my life did Flo Rida replace Conor Oberst and Elliott Smith? :|
Conor Oberst wishes he was Elliott Smith, or at least I do.
"[Elliott] had the ability to answer feelings in others that he was unable to answer in himself" - Conor Oberst on Elliott Smith
Amos Terry is easily the most exciting Artist/Singer/Songwriter I've seen or heard since Elliott Smith, Conor…
Elliott Smith and Conor Oberst are the two best singers to listen to when the weather starts to get colder.
All these sad kids and their obsessions with Conor Oberst and Elliott Smith
It's amazing that a pretty small & nondescript city like Omaha could produce two musical in geniuses/genii as Elliott Smith & Conor Oberst..
Might be falling a little bit in love with Conor Oberst. He sounds like Elliott Smith and looks like Milo Ventimiglia. What's not to love?
Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst is an expert in agony. A child prodigy who recorded his first album when he was 13, Conor has been a poster child for depression ever since. If you haven't heard Bright Eyes, imagine Elliott Smith without the merry and chipper spirit and you're there. In his first commercial album with Bright Eyes, Oberst sang a song called "Padriac my Prince" about his fictional brother who drowned in the bathtub. In other words, this is the kind of thing Conor fantasizes about to take his mind off his real problems. Dark, innit? But most of Bright Eyes' songs are appropriately downbeat and depressing musically speaking. It is "Let's Not S--t Ourselves (To Love and Be Loved)" that stands out amongst the pack for its extremely enjoyable rhythm, playing in the background of some of the most depressing lyrics ever scrawled on paper. The only thing longer than the song's title is the song itself. Over the course of ten minutes, Conor delivers a series of criticisms, jeremiads, and confession ...
If anyone is interested, I crunched the numbers and figured out the top 10 musicians of my (give or take) generation. This list is certifiably official, but flexible, particularly at numbers 1 through 3, depending on whose latest album is more recent. For real though, these are artists who've enriched my life and could do the same to yours! 10. Arcade Fire 9. Frontier Ruckus 8. Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) 7. Elliott Smith 6. Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra) 5. Kevin Devine 4. Iron and Wine 3. Joanna Newsom 2. David Bazan 1. Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes)
Conor Oberst said something about listening to Elliott Smith when there was no one he could talk to on the telephone. I know dem feels br0.
What I wouldn't give to be as talented as like, Conor Oberst, or Elliott Smith, or Justin Vernon...
