Also, I'm a day late, but shoutouts to the New York Rangers and the Tampa Bay Lightning for the incredible 7 game Eastern Conference Finals.
Another great round of hockey -- the Hawks vs Kings series was insane. Let's recap. Eastern Conference Montreal Canadiens vs New York Rangers Prediction: Rangers in 6 Actual: Rangers in 6 People say that this series would have turned out differently if Price had played the full series. While I appreciate that Carey Price is a world-class goalie, Dustin Tokarski was pretty great. He didn't let in any real "bad" goals (except maybe one during the 7-4 shootout, but who cares), and he gave Montreal a sense of confidence. As I mentioned in my predictions, Montreal is not an offensive juggernaut. They will get some scoring by committee but they do not strike fear into the hearts of men. This was really their downfall. They played from behind almost the entire series and rarely looked in control. When they did score, it came in fits and bursts that put them even with the Rangers, only to have them playing catchup again later. Not to mention their powerplay was abysmal, going 2 f ...

Fear not, superstitious Habs fans. If the Canadiens force a Game 7 in their Eastern Conference Final against the New York Rangers, Ginette Reno will still be able to sing O Canada at the Bell Centre, just not in person.

Rene Bourque had a hat trick and the Montreal Canadiens kept their playoff hopes alive with a 7-4 victory over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the NHL's Eastern Conference Final. New York has a 3-2 series lead and would have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final with a victory. Alex Galchenyuk, Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty also scored for Montreal. David Desharnais scored into an empty net for the Canadiens. Andrei Markov had three assists. Derek Stepan struck twice for the Rangers, while Rick Nash and Chris Kreider had goals too. Game 6 will be played in New York on Thursday.
Story Injured Canadiens goalie Carey Price, seen here at a recent practice, returned to the ice in full gear Tuesday morning before his teammates were scheduled to be on the ice in preparation for Game 5 of the NHL Eastern Conference Final against the visiting New York Rangers later that night.
For the second straight game, the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers required overtime to settle an Eastern Conference Final game. This time, however, the Rangers came out on top.
New York Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo has been suspended 10 games by the NHL for abusing a linesman during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final.
It's happening . The incompetence of the NHL officiating is astounding -- and the evil Bettman does nothing about it. Now, Rangers are going to be without Stepan and Carcillo (who is going to get suspended) and possibly still Brassard. New York -- The fallout from Brandon Prust's hit on Derek Stepan in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals continues, as New York Rangers coach Alain Vigneault revealed Friday that Stepan suffered a broken jaw on the play. Stepan underwent surgery Friday, leaving his status for Game 4 on Sunday and the remainder of the series against the Montreal Canadiens unknown. Vigneault continued to seethe about the noncall Friday and lamented the officiating when discussing Stepan's injury and the incident that ensued, which will likely result in a suspension for Daniel Carcillo. Carcillo was tossed from the game for elbowing linesman Steve Driscoll, who was trying to separate him from post-whistle action involving Prust. "Yesterday there was an incident where Prust hit Stepan. That ...

It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh! Tonight from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh Pa, the Penguins meet the New York Rangers. This is the first game at home in 2014. The Blackhawks are one of the Original Six NHL teams, along with the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. The Original Six is a term for the group of six teams that comprised the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 25 seasons between the 1942–43 season and the 1967 NHL Expansion. The Board of Governors will meet later this month to vote on the proposal. Considering that over 70 percent of the players in the league wore visors this past year, it seems like an idea whose time has come. And given all the eye injuries that have happened in the last few years, most recently to the New York Rangers' Marc Staal, Bruins coach Claude Julien believes it's the right way to go. 'I encourage guys to wear visors, and I'm one of those guys that really believed that when a young player comes ...

The Bruins are simply a better team than the New York Rangers right now. That’s the only conclusion one could come to after the B’s come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Rangers last night that leaves them with a 3-0 advantage in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

SABRES (9-13-2) at (10-8-5) TV: MSG-B, MSG PLUS Last 10: Sabres 4-5-1, Devils 2-6-2 Season series: This is the second meeting in six days between the teams -- the Sabres scored a 4-3 shootout decision March 2 at First Niagara Center. The clubs will meet one more time in the regular season -- April 7 in Buffalo. Big story: Since Ron Rolston took over as interim coach of the Sabres on Feb. 20, the team has gone 3-3-1, so the jury remains out on whether or not the situation gets turned around. The Sabres are 13th in the Eastern Conference with 20 points, four behind the eighth-seeded New York Rangers. The Devils have are winless in six straight (0-5-1) for the first time since 2010, and sit seventh in the East with 25 points. The Pittsburgh Penguins star ruled himself out for Sunday’s game against Boston but is optimistic he could play for the first time since early December when the team travels to play the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers on Thursday. “Any game at this point is going to be exciting,” Crosby said. “A game like that you have need to make sure that you’re that much more ready.”
2012-06-13 15:49:00 NEWARK, N.J. - With free agency looming in less than three weeks, New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise has crossed the rival Rangers off his list of potential future employers. Meeting with the media for the first time since New Jersey lost the Stanley Cup in six games to the Los Angeles Kings two days ago, the 27-year-old Parise reiterated that he would like to continue playing for the Devils and would even consider signing before free agency starts on July with the right deal. When asked if he'd play for the rival New York Rangers, a team New Jersey defeated in the post-season, he was short and simple: "No." Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said re-signing Parise, who earned in excess of $5 million last season, would be a priority for the Eastern Conference Champions
Is Thank you Philadelphia for beating Pittsburgh and Aaron Asham might be getting a 10 game suspension for starting a fight with 5 minutes left. And the coaches getting into it. After a week-long lull, the Penguins righted their ship with wins in their last three games – against fellow Eastern Conference powers Boston, the New York Rangers and Philadelphia – to clinch the fourth seed. Along the way, Evgeni Malkin, the Hart Trophy favorite, scored his 50th goal of the season as another sign the Penguins are going to be tough to beat.
What a great week! My New Jersey Devils beat the New York Rangers for the NHL Eastern Conference Championship and will now show the Los Angeles Kings what hockey is all about as they take the Stanley Cup. Tonight, my Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. On Monday, they'll take on Labron James and Dwyane (that's the way he spells it, folks) Wade of the Miami Heat to see who meets the San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder for the League Championship. Where are the Lakers?
WOW! Did i call this one wrong. I expected a New York Rangers vs. Los Angeles Kings finals in the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the New Jersey Devils won the Eastern Conference so now the LA Kings will be facing-off against them for the championship. L.A. has not been in a race for the cup since 1993 when they lost to Montreal Canadians, the same year i moved from there to Houston, so i would love to see them take it from the Devils. GO KINGS!!!

Martin Brodeur has won 3 Stanley Cups in his career so to be able to win 2 out of the first 3 games with 3-0 shutouts in the Eastern Conference Finals versus the N.J. The Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers are battling it out in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals, as the NHL playoffs continue their inexorable march toward the Stanley Cup Finals. The series is tied at 3-3 as the teams prepare to suit up for tomorrow night's deciding Game 7 match-up. Sounds pretty intense, huh? Doesn't seem necessary to ratchet up the drama by comparing the players to 9/11 firefighters and policemen, right? WRONG! The CBC's Ron MacLean knows that playoff hockey is a matter of life and death and planes crashing into buildings and flames and people jumping out of windows and mourning loved ones. Yes, as you enjoy this series, think about the most tragic day in American history, and remember what those terrorists tried to take away from us — the freedom to sound like a jack *** on TV.- HappyPlace.com

Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson spent 70 minutes on the ice earlier this afternoon, then declared afterward he's "hopeful" that he'll be able to rejoin the fray Monday night (7 p.m., CBC, Team 1200), when Ottawa attempts to apply the clincher in its Eastern Conference quarter-final series against the heavily favoured New York Rangers.
Greetings Hockey Fans Well the second season is primed to start. I’m writing today to post notice to the Eastern Conference what was witnessed last night. All of the Capital Fans will know what I mean. The Washington Capitals turned on their “We’re Going To Win” switch last night and it will stay on until they win “The Cup”. Last night against the New York Rangers, the Washington Capitals won the game in a convincing fashion. It only took 32 seconds into the game for Alex Ovechkin to assert himself as a force and lead his Caps to take control of the game. Less than 3 minutes into the game, Mathieu Perreault scored the Caps second goal. This was 2 goals against New York Goalie, Henrik Lunqvist. Throughout the season this was a rare scene to the New York faithful. Of course this is what the Washington Capitals Fans expect. We here in Washington DC know that the Caps own the Rangers. A Co-worker of mine who is a Rangers Fan told me that the one thing he doesn’t want to see is the Rang ...
has predictions for Round 1 in the Eastern Conference: *New York Rangers versus Ottawa: NYR in 6. I know that Ottawa has been a great story this year, and that they beat the Rangers in three of four meetings. But this is a well-balanced Rangers team. Not good enough to get to the final, but balanced. They have one of the best playoff performers in the game (Brad Richards). They have a nice blend of skill, grit and depth throughout the line-up. And they have Lundquist in goal. They'll be too much for the Sens.
Is good luck to the Uconn Women and even as big. Rangers playing the Boston Bruins. Where a win. Has the New York Rangers the seed in the Eastern Conference.
