On Stan Van Gundy being a head coach and president of basketball operations for the Detroit Pistons, he has a difficult challenge ahead of him. Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings have to improve their games from horrific numbers this season. Andre Drummond is no doubt the best player on this Detroit team. Greg Monroe could end up leaving for a different team. All I am going to say is Stan Van Gundy needs to add some key back court players to get this team into an anemic Eastern Conference as a playoff contender.
Chris Mendez, Victor Drew Jimenez, John Serna The Pistons have been up-and-down to begin the 2013-2014 season, the season hasn't exactly been what Detroit would want, but luckily for them, there in a weak Eastern Conference and still have great opportunities to fix there mistakes and have a chance at making the playoffs. The Pistons brought SF/PF Josh Smith to improve an offense that had struggled to score buckets in the past few years, but he was also brought in to do some of the little things that sometimes doesn't get notice when truly matters the most. Smith is the type of player, that can do a little bit of everything, he can pass, rebound, doesn't shoot the ball very well, but he is a great athletic player that can make good drives right to the basket. Smith, who has also been up-and-down as well, made the necessary play down the stretch for the Pistons to have a great shot at winning the game in the final seconds. SF/PF Josh Smith had 25 points while shooting 11-16 from the field, along with 5 assi ...
It's halftime at The Palace. The Pistons lead the Grizzlies 56-51. Greg Monroe has 15 and 7 boards, Josh Smith has 10 and 5 boards, Brandon Jennings has 9 dimes, and Andre Drummond has 11 and 11 boards. Drummond's double-double is his 24th which is tops in the Eastern Conference. ~KC
Pistons hand Pacers first home defeat, 101-96... INDIANAPOLIS - Detroit beat Indiana at its own game Monday night. The Pistons were tougher inside, tougher on defense and tougher at fending off challenges. On a night the Eastern Conference's best team looked like anything but, Josh Smith scored 30 points and Greg Monroe had 13 points and 12 rebounds to help Detroit send Indiana to a 101-96 loss -- the Pacers' first at home this season. "It's impressive the way we came in and competed with the way the Pacers have been playing," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We have a good basketball team." Detroit (12-14) proved it with a nearly perfect game. The Pistons dominated on the glass with a 55-40 overall advantage and a 20-9 edge on offensive rebounds. They matched the Pacers' shooting percentage of 43.2 percent, had one more 3-pointer and nearly an identical shooting percentage on 3s (35.3 to 35.0), outscored Indiana 44-38 in the paint and 22-14 on second-chance points. For a Pacers team that prides itself ...
Josh Smith to Detroit, thjats a BEAST ONE TWO PUNCH with him and Greg Monroe might be another Pacers type. Eastern Conference should be very interesting next year.

Sources say that the Hawks, at present, have no interest in parting with Josh Smith and Kyle Korver for Gasol. Or even Smith and lesser parts for Gasol. Positions can obviously change between now and the Feb. 21 trade deadline, but sources maintain that Atlanta has not been enticed in the least by the prospect of parting with the 26- year-old Smith — even as he heads into unrestricted Free Agency — for the 32-year-old Gasol. The Hawks, for the record, have also been telling interested teams that they value Smith and what he offers as.a hybrid forward in an Eastern Conference that’s generally been getting smaller. It’s likewise true, sources said, that the Lakers have had internal discussions for months about pursuing Smith, not only for his athletic gifts but also knowing that J-Smoove is one of free agent-to- be Dwight Howard’s closest friends in the game. But if that’s really who L.A. wants, there will have to be another team or two recruited into the deal to satisfy Atlanta’s demands.
Josh Smith starred as Hawks hit Celtics 83-74 in game 1 of their NBA Eastern Conference playoff.
ATLANTA -- Josh Smith scored 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, leading the Atlanta Hawks to an 83-74 victory over Boston in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference. Sunday, April 29, 2012.
This *** said Josh Smith.well *** too bad he's in the Eastern Conference
Back In The Mix April 6 -- The best player on the hottest team in the league since the All-Star break is not LeBron James or Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant or Kevin Love. With all respect to those other MVP candidates, the honor belongs to Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, whose MVP campaign from earlier this season was derailed by injuries and a Celtics' swoon. But Rondo and the Celtics have come on since the break -- 15-7 since All-Star Weekend in Orlando -- and have plenty of teams in the Eastern Conference fearing for their playoff lives. No team in the East can boast more championship experience on its roster, and the Lakers and Spurs are the only teams in the league capable of matching the Celtics in that department. The true beauty of Rondo's surge, and in turn the Celtics' post-All-Star rise, has been the unselfishness of their All-Star floor leader. Rondo's assists have spiked since the break (9.5 before and 12.6 since) while his points have taken a sizeable dip (14.8 before and 10.0 since). Rondo av ...
