New York — Cleveland's Lebron James and Stephen Curry of Golden State are the leading vote-getters in the first returns from NBA All-Star fan voting. Something i cooked up for fun. Wins and lost records of the teams Jordan's Bulls and LBJ's Heat had to contend with en route to the their first two championships. People keep talking about how bad the East is now and even how bad it was when Jordan was on top, let's see what the numbers say about the quality of opponents. This is going to be an ongoing series, cause these take awhile. This time up the 1991 Chicago Bull's and 2012 Heat's first round matchups Round 1 of the Eastern Conference: Bulls 1991 Opponents- 39-42 New York Knicks PTS/G: 103.1 (18th of 27) ▪ Opp PTS/G: 103.3 (7th of 27) SRS: -0.44 (16th of 27) ▪ Pace: 95.0 (22nd of 27) Off Rtg: 107.1 (16th of 27) ▪ Def Rtg: 107.3 (12th of 27) Best players in the 90-91 regular season: Patrick Ewing had a 26 point-11 rebound season and was a starter on the All Star Team. Whether the Bulls get bounced in the first round or hang on to fight another day -- it's almost certain that Chicago will pursue Carmelo Anthony in the offseason, knowing that if they get him, the impact will be felt throughout the Eastern Conference.
The New York Knicks now sit in the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference as the absolutely MAIMED their in state rivals, the Brooklyn (they still New Jersey to me) Nets 110-81 @ Madison Square Garden. J.R. Smith had a nice all around game with 24 points, 8 rebounds & 6 assists. Carmelo Anthony had 23 points & 10 boards & Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 points for the victors. Next for the Knicks, another home game on Friday night as they will face the Washington Wizards @ 7:30PM ET on MSG Network. Perhaps it helped the Knicks that Phil Jackson was in the house tonight.
Here is my take on Phil Jackson going for an opportunity in the Big Apple for the New York Knicks in the front office: It is a great and huge opportunity for him to put a big market team back on the map in the Eastern Conference. There is also a huge challenge ahead of him which is horrible long term contracts he has to deal with below par production on this roster. If he chooses the New York Knicks opportunity, I wish him well on the challenge of dealing with big money players with below par production except Carmelo Anthony.
A group of fed-up New York Knicks fans will protest what they call the "systemic and consistently recurring lack of responsible decision-making at Madison Square Garden" by owner James Dolan and team executives before a home game against the Indiana Pacers on March 19. "We understand Dolan will not sell. We understand change may not come of this. We just want our voices heard," Mark Griffin, one of the organizers of the protest, wrote in an emailed statement. "We want to remind Dolan and the NBA that our voices matter. We buy the tickets, the jerseys, the NBA League Pass subscriptions. We are frustrated. We are tired. We deserve better." The Knicks, who declined to comment Thursday, have performed far below Dolan's stated expectations this season. They snapped a seven-game losing streak with a win over Minnesota on Wednesday but are 19 games under .500 and 5½ games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The fan group that has organized the protest -- KF4L (Knicks Fans For Lif ...
Free Play from Stephen Nover New York Knicks vs. New Orleans Pelicans Play: New York Knicks +4 New Orleans had been playing well going into All-Star break winning eight of its last 13. And ordinarily I would like to play on a Western Conference club against a weak Eastern Conference foe, but circumstances are different here. The Knicks played last night. They rallied from an 18-point deficit before blowing a seven-point fourth quarter lead in a 98-93 road loss to Memphis. That was a frustrating loss for New York as the pressure mounts on Mike Woodson and Carmelo Anthony. But the Knicks didn't quit and now have the rust off. They also step down in class. The Grizzlies are 6 1/2 games better than New Orleans and have been playing extremely well winning 10 of their last 13. The Pelicans last played a week ago. That's way too long of a period to sit around in today's NBA. New Orleans doesn't have great incentive either playing in the much more difficult conference where it is 7 1/2 games out of the final play ...
Let's go Eastern Conference!!! Kyrie Irving, Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and Paul George?? Killem! Still got love for the West!
The 2014 NBA All-Star starters were announced Thursday night on TNT. Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Kevin Love are the starters for the Western Conference. The Eastern Conference will be represented by Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, Lebron James, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. The starters selected by the fans, who vote for two backcourt and three frontcourt players. Durant, Curry, James and George all received more than one million votes.
Henrik Lundqvist was one of the 3 players of the week, and Carmelo Anthony was Eastern Conference player of the Week. Good sports week, eh?
Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points, Andrea Bargnani had 19, and the New York Knicks beat the Miami Heat 102-92 on Thursday night for their season-high third straight victory. New York was second to Miami in the Eastern Conference last season when it won the series 3-1, but there was little reason to s...
Sort Of Miami Heat Related: John Wall is seeking a sign and deal trade with the Wizards so he can play for the Knicks, in exchange the Knicks lose Raymond Felton and/or Amar'e Stoudemire. Wow, if this trade goes through, then I'm really worried for our Miami Heat next year, to match-up probably against John Wall, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Iman Shumpert, and J.R Smith, that would be a huge challenge in the Eastern Conference.

Two quick updates! Carmelo Anthony is now tied with Kevin Durant for leading scorer at 28.6. The Knicks are now third in the Eastern Conference after losing to the Heat and after the Pacers won their match-up against the Bulls.
Rockstarpoetry (Official) NBA Recap: Philadelphia 76ers 93 New York Knicks 99 Carmelo Anthony scores 29 as Knicks top Sixers to snap 4-game skid New York -- Even when he wasn't hitting his shots, Carmelo Anthony delivered a shot. Tired of losing and determined to stop it, the New York Knicks toughened up and fought their way out of their worst slump of the season. Anthony scored 29 points, Amar'e Stoudemire had a season-high 22, and the Knicks snapped their four-game losing streak by beating the Philadelphia 76ers 99-93 on Sunday night. "Losing games, games we think we're supposed to win, you come into a game like this, we want to win," Anthony said. "Definitely want to be a very high-intensity game, a very high-energetic game back here on our home court and we didn't want to lose this game." Anthony was only 6 of 18 from the field, but made 16-of-18 free throws and also was called for a flagrant foul for the fired-up Knicks, who have fallen behind Indiana into third place in the Eastern Conference and wh ...
So, if Carmelo Anthony is "more classier" and the Eastern Conference of the NBA is "more tougher" than the West, is there anyone on television more stupider than Stephen A Smith?
Leading Simply What Clippers' Paul Does Jan. 11 -- Lebron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony have all spent ample time at or near the top of the Kia Race to the MVP Ladder this season, each one as deserving as the other based on their individual production and respective team success. So it only makes sense that Chris Paul, the leader and best player on the team that has no doubt played the best basketball the past month, takes his place among them. What was once thought to be a two-or three-man race has suddenly morphed into a four-man dash, with Paul's case gaining momentum with every minute the Clippers spend atop the Western Conference and league standings. "I don't know if there is another player who is as critical to his team's bottom line as Chris," said a former Eastern Conference general manager. "Think about it: take LeBron off of his team, Durant off of his team or Carmelo off of his team and they're still going to be playoff teams and teams that have to be reckoned with. The Clippers don' ...

NBA All-Star voting first returns released yesterday: Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant top the Western Conference and Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony lead the Eastern Conference. Which players do you think should be on top?
ANTHONY,KNICKS TOP LAKERS Carmelo Anthony sprained his left ankle in the third quarter but not before he went off for 22 of his 30 points in the first quarter as the Knicks cruised to a 116-107 victory over the Lakers in Mike D'Antoni's return to Madison Square Garden. Anthony was fouled by Dwight Howard on a drive to the basket with 6:54 remaining in the third. His left leg bent back awkwardly as he landed and, after getting up slowly, he made 1-of-2 foul shots. He initially tried to walk it off and stay in the game, but then departed for the locker room and did not return. According to ESPN, the last player to score 30 while playing 22 or fewer minutes was David Robinson in 1995. The Knicks improved to a perfect 9-0 at home and have won eight of nine while improving their Eastern Conference-best record to 17-5. The Lakers dropped their fourth straight, have lost six of seven and fell to 4-9 under D'Antoni, who was booed by the Garden faithful at the game's outset and serenaded with chants of "Mike D'Ant ...
NBA WRAP UP - 12/12 (All results listed below) What a day in the NBA; the biggest result being the LA Lakers going down to the Eastern Conference's 3rd-last-placed Cleveland. Kobe Bryant's 42 points couldn't help his team, and the Lakers' shaky form continues. Kyrie Irving hit 28 points in his return for the Cavs. Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony was the highest points-getter for the day with 45, helping his team, the Knicks, get over the Nets. Here are all the results: - NY Knicks 100-97 Brooklyn - LA Lakers 94-100 Cleveland - Denver 101-94 Pistons - Washington 77-70 New Orleans - LA Clippers 94-89 Chicago
FELTON LEADS KNICKS TO HUGE VICTORY OVER HEAT ASSOCIATED PRESS - 12/6/2012 11:55:28 PM MIAMI -- Another Knicks-Heat game, another 20-point Knicks win. And if that isn't surprising enough, this one happened with Carmelo Anthony on the sideline. Raymond Felton scored a season-high 27 points, and the Knicks connected on 18 3-pointers to more than offset the absence of Anthony while dominating Miami for the second time this season, beating the Heat 112-92 on Thursday night. "It was fun. It was fun the whole game," Felton said. "Everybody contributed tonight. Everybody did something amazing. We played a great game minus our superstar." Steve Novak scored 18 points, J.R. Smith added 13 and Tyson Chandler scored 13 for the Knicks, who won their fifth straight and moved 1 1/2 games clear of Miami for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks made eight 3-pointers in the third quarter alone, the most by any NBA team in any quarter so far this season. Anthony sat out, one night after needing five stitch ...
Basketball Without Anthony, Knicks crush Heat in Miami The Miami Heat suffered their worst home defeat of the 'Big Three' era as the defending NBA champions crashed to a 112-92 loss to a New York Knicks team without their star forward Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks have sole leadership of the Eastern Conference with a 14-4 record, ahead of the Heat who slip to 12-5, having also lost by 20 points to the Knicks in New York on November 2. Raymond Felton top-scored for New York with 27 points, including six of 10 on three-point throws, as the Knicks flourished despite the absence of Anthony, who has an injured finger on his non-shooting left hand. "It was a total team effort from everyone that played," said Knicks head coach Mike Woodson. "Across the board I think our defence was solid for 48 minutes. I thought offensively our flow was good and guys made shots." For the Heat, Lebron James put up 31 points with 10 rebounds and nine assists but it was a quiet night for Dwyane Wade, who was three-of-13 from the fie ...
New York: There’s something special brewing with the 2012-13 Knicks. J.R. Smith drilled a game-winner on Wednesday night to extend New York’s winning streak to four games and place them atop the Eastern Conference. Remarkably, the team accomplished the feat without Carmelo Anthony on the floor for the final two minutes of the contest and Raymond Felton was dealing with an injured left hand, and Jason Kidd just returned from a four-game absence due to back spasms. Oh, and by the way, the Knicks are still missing the services of Amar’e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert. At 13-4, New York is finding the right chemistry on the floor and inside the locker room while jumping out to a special start to the season. In the midst of a three-game road trip, the Knicks may face their toughest task in Miami on Thursday night. Anthony has a laceration on his middle finger, which required five stitches. The All-Star told reporters he will see how it feels on Thursday before making a final decision on his availability fo ...
