Eastern Conference & Atlantic Division
The Eastern Conference is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. The NHL's Atlantic Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division. /5

Still on top the Eastern Conference & Atlantic Division though. Every loss is a lesson learned.
Here we go fans, one of the moments we've ALL been waiting for all season. It will have taken 80 games, but this moment is ALWAYS worth it. The best part, we'll get to share it with the BEST FANS IN THE NHL! Tonight, our Minnesota Wild have a chance to clinch a playoff spot as the Eastern Conference, Atlantic Division, and president trophy hunting Boston Bruins come to town. The Bruins, as previously mentioned, are the Eastern Conference champions. That much is assured. They ONLY have the presidents trophy to play for. NO CHANCE they take tonight off (kind of like the penguins did the other night). Their overall record is amazing, 53-18-7 giving them 113 points. EVERYTHING about this team statistically is great. Away from home they are 23-11-4, Their last 10 is 7-1-2 and they won their last contest vs Philly 5-2. They also have the best Goal Differential at +84 *crap I didn't know that was possible!!!* They finish the year with games at Winnipeg Thursday, then have weekend games at home vs Buff ...
Detroit Red Wings @ Columbus Blue Jackets Time: 7:00 PM EST Records: DET (29-22-13, 71 Points, 5th in the Atlantic Division) CBJ (33-26-5, 71 Points, 4th in the Metropolitan Division) This game is monumental heading into the final stretch of the NHL Regular Season as both these teams are fighting for a playoff spot, as of now Columbus holds the 2nd Wild Card in the Eastern Conference, but both teams are sitting at 71 points so the winner of today's game will take that spot outright. Detroit was supposed to have a game in hand but due to last nights unfortunate circumstances, the Columbus/Dallas game was postponed and now both teams are sitting at 64 Games Played. What team do you expect to have the East's 2nd Wild Card after tonight? -MagicMan13
Raptors fall short to the Nets last night. Still 1st in the Atlantic Division and tied for 3rd in the Eastern Conference.
LT: Leafs are now sitting in spot in Atlantic Division, 3rd overall in the Eastern Conference. (I've been playing with stats)
It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh! Tonight from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, the Penguins meet the Ottawa Senators. This is the first meeting between the two teams since the Pens eliminated the Sens in the 2nd round of the playoffs. The Penguins are 27-10-1 55 points 1st in the Metropolitan Division. They are also tops in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins are 9-1-0 in their last 10 and also are sporting a 7 game winning streak. Sidney Crosby leads the Pens with 20 goals, 34 assists and 54 points and he is also a plus 10. Kunitz and Niskanen both lead the Pens in plus/minus with a plus 20. Marc Andre Fleury expected between the pipes tonight. Ottawa comes in with a record of 14-17-7 35 points and in 6th place in the Atlantic Division. They have lost 3 in a row and are 3-4-3 in their last 10. Coming off 4-3 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday. Defenseman Erik Karlsson leads the Sens in scoring with 34 points and is a -10 on the season. Craig Anderson expected in goal for the Senators. Senators fo ...
Tonight the are 1st in Atlantic Division &. 2nd in Eastern Conference
John Michael`s a.k.a. The Ch1cken D1nner`s FREE SPORTS INFORMATION for the 2013-2014 NBA Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference: New York Knicks Preview My Prediction 67-15 Eastern Conference Champions Mike Woodson my pick to win Coach of the Year now entering his 9th season 8th full season as a head coach and though he has yet to break the .500 mark in wins as a head coach he is coming off of his fourth straight winning season 3 of which were full seasons and currently holds a record of 278-320 which is 46% I believe this will be the year he does become a winning coach. Let us remember that Mike Woodson was an assistant coach for the 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons team that won the NBA Finals behind the best team defense I have ever seen, and if you think for one second that he has forgotten what the great Larry Brown and he were able to accomplish with disciplined team defense you had better dig up some film and take notes. Ron Artest or keeping the peace has made his way back to the state he started hi ...
(Sports Network) - If the Boston Celtics plan to take one more run at the top spot in the Eastern Conference, they will have to bring their A-game to the Windy City tonight against the Chicago Bulls. The Atlantic Division champion Celtics are three full games behind the Central kings, the Bulls, with just five games left in the Regular Season for both clubs. A loss tonight by Boston would all but eliminate the Cs in the race for the top seed. Its going to be like Game 1 of a playoff series between teams trying to get to the Finals, Celtics forward Jeff Green said. Weve just got to come out, focus on the defensive end, and be sure were ready to play. Playoffs is like the main course, Boston superstar Kevin Garnett added. This will definitely be the appetizer. In their last encounter on Tuesday the defending East champs dismantled long- time rival Philadelphia when Rajon Rondo finished with 16 points and 13 assists, as the Celtics used a dominant second half to beat the 76ers, 99-82, at TD Garden. Paul Pier ...
NHL Predictions 2013-2014 Atlantic Division: 1. Boston Bruins: Coming off the Stanley Cup Finals, the Bruins traded young star Tyler Seguin to the Stars for consistent Loui Eriksson and signed Jarome Iginla (who last year declined a trade to the Bruins). Anyways, the Bruins still have their core from last season and will remain a contender to win the Eastern Conference. 2. Detroit Red Wings: Towards the end of last season, on the playoff bubble, the Red Wings played excellent hockey and nearly defeated the eventual Cup winning Blackhawks in the second round. A switch to the Eastern conference and signing of old swede Daniel Alfredsson will keep the Red Wings a threat in the Eastern Conference. 3. Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens went from 15th to 2nd in one year thanks to rookies Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher and the rise of PK Subban. I think the Habs can make a nice playoff run if goaltender Carey Price is more consistent 4. Ottawa Senators: Through a season where their stars were injured, Otta ...
Ray Shero of the Pittsburgh Penguins is the 2012-13 winner of the NHL General Manager of the Year Award. Voting for this award was conducted among the 30 Club General Managers and a panel of NHL executives, print and broadcast media at the conclusion of the Regular Season. Shero made key additions to an already-strong roster throughout the year that helped propel the Penguins (36-12-0) to a playoff berth for the seventh consecutive season, their first Atlantic Division title since 2008 and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. He obtained C Brandon Sutter and G Tomas Vokoun in offseason trades and later brought RW Jarome Iginla, LW Brenden Morrow, C Jussi Jokinen and D Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh in deals leading up to the trade deadline. Pittsburgh reeled off 15 consecutive victories from March 2-30, the second-longest winning streak in NHL history and the League’s longest winning streak in 20 years.
There are 30 teams in the National Hockey League. There are 23 players on each team's major league roster. That equals 690 players in the NHL at all times. Right now, five Pittsburgh Penguins are in the top 24 in scoring: 1. Sidney Crosby- 11 goals, 25 assists, 36 points 3. Chris Kunitz- 12 goals, 16 assists, 28 points 14. (tie) Evgeni Malkin- 5 goals, 18 assists, 23 points 16. (tie) James Neal- 14 goals, 8 assists, 22 points 21. (tie) Kris Letang- 3 goals, 18 assists, 21 points They are in first place in the Atlantic Division, and in second place in the Eastern Conference. Man, I'm glad hockey is back.

Heat fans look what Mike Woodson the head coach for the New York Knicks had to say about the Miami Heat CONCESSION SPEECH: Yes, the New York Knicks are up 2-0 in the season series, in position to clinch the tiebreaker, but with a four-game deficit at the All-Star break, coach Mike Woodson appears to be placing a greater priority on winning the Atlantic Division than hunting down the Heat for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. "I can't worry about LeBron and Miami," Woodson told reporters. "I've got to really focus in on what we're doing. First and foremost we've got to stay at the top of our division and then after that, whatever happens, happens. They're not going to quit playing. They're the world champions. They figured it out last year. We're trying to get where they were last year. I can't see them tailing off by any means."
New York Rangers 2013 Season Preview Chris Calandrillo Well, Alex beat me to the punch with this one. His preview was tremendous, and hopefully mine will not be just a repeat of what he said. But here it goes. In 2011-2012, the New York Rangers had their best season in 18 years. Tops in the Atlantic Division, tops in the Eastern Conference, and 2 wins away from a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals. Even this great season was not enough, as they lost to the New Jersey Devils in the Eastern Finals. A tremendous series, but the Devils were just a step ahead, and deserved their spot in the finals. What can the Rangers do for an encore? In my eyes, it's Cup or bust. Even though this is a shortened season, this is the year that the New York Rangers MUST win the Stanley Cup. Not saying that they will. I'm just saying that they NEED to. I don't think their window is closing at all. It's wide open, and this team is built to do great things. It won't be easy though. Some character players are no longer with the Ranger ...
Both Teams Have Won Two Straight The Boston Celtics (16-17) will play against a top-four Eastern Conference team tonight for the third time in four days. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks (23-10), who are currently atop the Atlantic Division. Both the Celtics and the Knicks are in the midst of two-game winning streaks. Boston is riding high after monumental victories over the Pacers on Friday and the Hawks on Saturday. New York, meanwhile, grabbed a big win over the Spurs Thursday night and then rallied to down the Magic 114-106 Saturday night in Orlando.
Top 3 favorites (in Vegas) to win the Eastern Conference are in the Atlantic Division...and that doesn't include the defending champs..
I'm a little upset that I won't see the Brooklyn Nets season opener debut against New York Knicks. Thanks in all to Hurricane Sandy!! But, we will get stronger. We will arise both Knicks and Nets. This will propel us to stand strong, and help both teams to compete better, especially in the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division!
Despite the uneven balance of power in the Atlantic Division in years prior, teams in the northeast are looking to make big splash in the Eastern Conference this season. Although the only true title contender in the conference is the Boston Celtics, there are four legitimate playoff teams in the div...
Sports Illustrated has the Sixers finishing 8th in the Eastern Conference and 4th in the Atlantic Division...they clearly don't know what they are talking about. Bynum or not, this team is better than they were last here and in less than a week they will get to show just how much they have improved.
Season projection for the by has 2nd in the Atlantic Division / 3rd in the Eastern Conference
Atlantic Division just became the toughest division in the Eastern Conference
My preview of the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division heading into the 2012-13 season.
This is addressed to all my Philadelphia 76ers haters: Wait until November, Chris Broussard said it best on ESPN, people talking bout the Lakers but Philly will be extremely tough to beat with size and athleticism all wa across the board. They not Miami and no one is making that comparison but they will make some serious noise provided Bynum stays healthy, its hard to say they can't possibly develop into the second or third best team in the Eastern Conference and atop the Atlantic Division. LOOK for Evan Turner and Jrue Holiday to have breakout yrs behind the 2nd best center in the league. NUFF SAID
In the Eastern Conference, is the Atlantic Division named like it is so they wouldn't have to call it the Middle East?
*** .. I just realized that 4 of the best 8 teams in the Eastern Conference, Are in the Atlantic Division!
Well, I'm just glad Anthony Davis didn't come to the Eastern Conference, especially the Atlantic Division!

The Celtics [team stats] clinched the Atlantic Division title with last night’s 102-98 win over Orlando, thus guaranteeing them at least the fourth seed in the upcoming Eastern Conference playoffs. ;b
