Dwight D Eisenhower & National Railway Museum

Dwight David Ike Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) was the 34th President of the United States from 1953 until 1961. He had previously been a five-star general in the United States Army during World War II, and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe; he had responsibility for planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch in 1942–43 and the successful invasion of France and Germany in 1944–45, from the Western Front. The National Railway Museum (NRM) is a museum in York forming part of the British National Museum of Science and Industry and telling the story of rail transport in Britain and its impact on society. 0.7/5

Yesterday visited the National Railway Museum in York and got to sit in the drivers seats of the A4 Pacific class Mallard, the world's fasted steam train and one of her sister engines the Dwight D Eisenhower from Wisconsin USA. How fantastic is that? There are 6 A4 Pacifics on display from varying parts of the globe so if you would like to see them, go now as they are only altogether for a few weeks and it is unlikely they will ever be together again.
