Pete and I just got home from our mini tour to the south. We spent a couple days in Branson, then drove down to West Monroe, LA to check out the Duck Dynasty world. It was really nice, even though we didn't get to meet the Robertson family, (we were told they were filming), but we did get to visit several points of interest from their show. I especially enjoyed visiting the church on White's Ferry Road. We met the minister and his office crew and they were all super nice! (Had we been able to stay until Sunday, we probably could have met most of the family at church). The church building is awesome, and of course I took a few pix. After we left there, we drove to Texarkana and spent the night, then on over to the crystal mines east of Hot Springs, Arkansas. We found a place we could dig for crystals, and play in the red dirt and rocks! It was great, and we even found a couple nice pieces. I also found a few decorative rocks for our yard! Just wish I'd had the truck! It was a pretty good trip, we o ...
On Sunday October 19th, Monroe will be privileged to host a concert by one of America's very special entertainers. Ethan Bortnick plays over 200 songs on the piano (without music), sings the songs, writes his own music and orchestrates the music. Not bad for a 14 year old. Ethan is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest entertainer to have his own national tour and the youngest entertainer to have his own Las Vegas show. Presently Ethan has his own PBS special. In addition to Ethan the show will include the West Monroe High School Choir under the direction of Greg Oden. Also part of the show will be Missy Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame. The show is a fund raiser for Learning Tech - the Quest School. This school is for those youngsters who have special needs that requires special attention. Please come and join us at the Jack Howard theater at the Monroe Civic Center on Sunday, Oct. 19th at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for children. Please bring the children to ...

Don Alvey of Paducah, Kentucky, is fighting leukemia and loves Duck Dynasty. On his way home from the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he and his wife Judy stopped in West Monroe to eat at Willie's Duck Diner and see the sights.
Heading out in a bit to check out the Southern Aviation Heritage Museum at the Vicksburg-Tallulah Airport where I found a brochure saying they had a WWII aviation items then on to West Monroe to eat lunch at Willie's Restaurant from Duck Dynasty. Going to catch the Chennault Museum on the way back. He was the founder of the Flying Tigers. Going to be a historical type day.
I know many of you wonder how it is that we always have so many dogs in urgent situations in our Southern shelters. Maybe this will help explain it. Our local shelter in West Monroe (yes, Duck Dynasty country) is parish-run. They receive stray pets from three different animal control agencies: City of Monroe, City of West Monroe, Ouachita Parish. These dogs are placed on 7-day hold for possible owner reclaim. 6% are reclaimed. Fewer than half of the shelter population comes from AC. More than half are owner surrenders. The parish shelter is required to accept all owner surrenders, regardless of condition. These animals get no hold time. If there is room, they may live for a while. If there is not, they are immediately euthanized unless they are considered extremely adoptable. The shelter has 57 pens, currently all full, and in some cases the pens are housing 2-3 smaller dogs or puppies, and there are temporary puppy pens outside as well. Since June 1 (which was a Sunday when they are closed, s ...

They postponed dad's surgery again. Now, it is scheduled for tomorrow. His lab work came back negative, but we are still waiting on the cultures to see if he has pneumonia. He has had a decently restful day in spite of the uncertainty. Dad heard yesterday that Duck Dynasty's "Uncle Si" was possibly praying for him (via their West Monroe church prayer chain). I think that news alone may have given him some extra strength to fight through this! That is just one of many, many of God's small miracles throughout this ordeal. Thanks again for all your prayers and comments. Mom and dad definitely gain strength from you all. Chad Kovar Taylor-Megan Kovar Emily Gregg

Tracy Knauss 9 April CAUGHT ON CAMERA — You already know this Congressman, Vance McAllister. He's the *** who took Duck Dynasty actor Willie Robertson to President Obama's State of the Union Address. So you already know he doesn't have too much brain capacity. And now he's really screwed the pooch. On Monday, The Ouachita Citizen in West Monroe, Louisiana, published a surveillance video showing McAllister and his scheduler, Melissa Hixon Peacock, passionately kissing in his office. Maybe he should have just hired a prostitute like his fellow senator, David Vitter, who used such services repeatedly. Say, what ever happened to the prosecution of Vitter?! Prostitution is illegal in D.C and Louisiana. That's an easy one. Powerful politicians have one set of laws and we the people have another set of laws. But we can be sure McAllister will be paying for his straying. Louisiana women don't take kindly to such stunts. Stay tuned for more Republican hypocrisy, now happening on a daily basis.
I just finished my 9th canvassing program. What an experience it has been! With a mixture of heat, humidity, hail, and flash floods...God has been touching the lives of the people in Monroe and West Monroe, LA. From Mountain Man from Duck Dynasty getting a Great Controversy from us to canvassing skyscrapers. With the theme of this program, By Beholding We Are Changed, Jesus has increased our faith. I have to say this program is on my top 5 favorite programs ever! Praise God how the canvassing work changes lives! :)
It doesn’t get better than this…A Duck Dynasty military surprise! While on his first USO Tour (Dec 2013) in Kandahar, Afghanistan Willie met MGST. Scott Schreck, who had been deployed since early Sept 2013. His 10 year old son, Josh, was having a hard time with his father's absence over the holidays so his other son Joseph reached out to the Duck Commander. Planning commenced to create a special return. On Friday, March 21, Willie, Korie and the Duck Commander staff helped welcome Josh and his family to their West Monroe office. Not only was Josh surprised with a tour, but his father was waiting to welcome his son! SHARE this heart warming story!!
Headed to West Monroe home of duck dynasty
Hudson was never granted a Make-a-Wish. He didn't have a wish. He couldn't think of anything, except a boat or jet ski. He just wanted to hunt and fish! The Hunt of a Lifetime organization graciously planned a trip for the first week of October 2013 for Hudson to elk hunt in Idaho. We began to see Hudson would not physically be able to make the trip. We never told Hudson the trip had to be canceled. As a Mom, I desperately wanted Hudson to receive a wish. I met with Make-a-Wish and Hudson & (his family) were to meet the Duck Dynasty crew on site in West Monroe, La. Sadly this meeting had to be postponed by us also. We did however schedule a day to "Skype" with one of the Duck Dynasty members. This was Hudson's wish but honestly it was for us too. Hudson didn't live to see his wish and I tried to have it granted for the twins since Hudson had already been approved; but that was against the rules. Today the children were presented by students from MCS - 6 VIP tickets to attend their worship rally with Jase ...
Look out for the Duck Commander 500 this April. The Texas Motor Speedway announced this week that it had picked up CEO Willie Robertson's company as its title sponsor for the April 6 Sprint Cup race. As part of the three-year deal, the Robertson family will also be highly visible at the race. According to Sporting News, Phil, Uncle Si, the "bearded brothers" and their wives and children could potentially serve as race grand marshals and will likely make appearances throughout the weekend. In addition to the in-person attendance of the cast, "Duck Dynasty" merchandise based off the A&E show will be available for sale and on display. The concession menu will also bear the reality television show's influence, selling Uncle Si's Tea and offering dining options from Duck Commander Family Foods. The Duck Commander company was founded by Willie's father, Phil Robertson in West Monroe, La., in 1972. The fifth season of "Duck Dynasty" plays on A&E on Wednesday nights.

I am in the city where the Duck Dynasty guys lives. West Monroe.
I'm moving out of "WEST MONROE". No offence, Duck Dynasty. I just like Indian Trail better, especially on Guardian Angel Avenue.
Sitting in a movie theater in West Monroe and John Luke Robertson walks in with his family = COOL!!! The look on Grace's face when she notices him = PRICELESS! We didn't hound them or bother them at all...just a polite hello and let them enjoy their family time!!! Saving Mr. Banks was an awesome movie and we can say we watched it with the Duck Dynasty crew!!!
Phil Robertson, one of the stars of the A&E reality show Duck Dynasty who ignited a national controversy this week with remarks in a magazine interview comparing homosexuality to bestiality, vowed he would not give or back off as he joined his family at church in West Monroe, La.
WEST MONROE, La. — "Faith. Family. Ducks." It's the unofficial motto for the family featured in the TV reality show Duck Dynasty and that homespun philosophy permeates nearly everything in this small north Louisiana town. It's perhaps most on display at the White's Ferry…
I’m watching O Little Town of West Monroe on the app.
Richard let me borrow this Guideposts book and I came across something written by Korie Robertson from Duck Dynasty: Guideposts Duck Dynasty's Korie Robertson Faith, Family and Fame Keeping It Real Duck Dynasty's Korie Robertson might not be much of a cook, but she knows the recipe for keeping America's favorite reality-TV family together By Korie Robertson West Monroe, Louisiana I DON'T WANT TO MENTION NAMES, but a lot of what's on reality TV today is people gossiping, back-biting, cheating and being mean to each other. But not on our show. Duck Dynasty is about the family I married into, the Robertson clan, who make world-class duck calls. We try to present something different for our viewers. We do have disagreements, but every episode ends with a meal and prayer, and in between we have a lot of laughs. In fact, the first time we sat down as a family to watch Duck Dynasty we laughed so hard at ourselves that we could hardly hear the TV. Our show is about ducks, fishing, beards, good eating and the valu ...
I meet some interesting people in the oil field sometimes. One of the pipeline workers I met today was telling me was from West Monroe, LA. I said "hey that's Duck Dynasty territory." He claimed he went to high school with Jep Robertson.
As an alumni of WMHS, I found this article in the Rebel Dispatch very interesting. Thought those fans of Duck Dynasty might enjoy reading it, as well. HAVE YOU MET THEM? There’s a lot more happening in West Monroe than you might think! As the years have passed many changes have occurred in your home town. In this issue we hope to bring you up to date on some of the special features that make your home town an attractive place to visit. The most recent news is the phenomenal success of the Phil Robertson family and their Duck Dynasty television show which airs on Wednesday nights on A & E. The Commander warehouse, located on the corner of Thomas Road and King’s Lane, is one of the major sites for filming of the popular show. Willie Robertson graduated from West Monroe High School in 1990 and Alan Robertson graduated with the Class of 1982. Willie played basketball for the Rebels. The two younger Robertson’s attended the new West Ouachita High School since Phil and Miss Kay live in the southwest ...

"I never knew they much fun happened in West Monroe!"- LA History teacher's thoughts on Duck Dynasty
So far on this trip I've made it onto TV twice, met Si Robertson (AND held his tea jug), met multiple Duck Dynasty people, and our warehouse is in the newspaper. We're just working our way to Hollywood down here in West Monroe, Louisiana ;)
It's Sunday morning, and Alan Robertson, dressed in all black, steps up to the wooden pulpit at White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in the small town of West Monroe, La. The crowd of nearly 1,500 erupts into applause. Alan Robertson joins the "Duck Dynasty" family businessThe Robertsons gather together regularly for church, but for years they’ve been split over the show that’s made them famous to 9.6 million viewers. Alan has never appeared on “Duck Dynasty” — he’s the only brother of the four who’s avoided the spotlight. Until now. When the show returns for Season 4 on Aug. 14, Alan will join the cast. He’s hanging up his job as a full-time pastor to work for the family business (duck call manufacturing) as the company’s Beards and Beauty Wrangler — managing p.r. and speaking tours for the family. The suited, clean-shaven Alan, 47, looks like an overly plucked duck next to his hirsute, hunting-clad kin. “The beards are so iconic,” admits Alan, the eldest brother, who only lets h ...
MY YEAR HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN MADE!!! A man stopped by our yard sale and I am wearing my Duck Dynasty shirt, so he took me out to his truck and showed me some old home polaroid pictures from the 70's & 80's of Phil, Si, Jase, and Willie Robertson! He lived and taught in West Monroe and became good friends with the family! I AM FLOATING ON CLOUD 9!!
Some good friends of ours just got back from a vacation tour of sports Halls of Fame. Next on their list of places to visit is West Monroe, LA; home of the Duck Dynasty clan. The only reason why I want to visit West Monroe, Louisiana is because I want to meet Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty :)
That question reminded me that West Monroe, La., is home to the Duck Dynasty guys and intergalactic overlord Barkevious Mingo.
Fun fact, Alan Robertson, the oldest son not shown on Duck Dynasty, Is a Pastor in West Monroe. Says he is a "Jacob in a family of Esau's"

Words from the church that the Duck Dynasty people attend. Sounds like they are about to break out in revival Larry Avis West What a morning service we had at White's Ferry Road in West Monroe! Half our thousand members, I'll bet, marched to the cross and laid before Christ names they want to reach for Him this year! Half! In the process six came forward to obey the Gospel. You see here Phil Robertson baptizing one as both a husband and wife obeyed to become Christians. Si shouted from the back, "This is double dipping!". :) What a joy!! All this too was among other responses!
HAPPY...HAPPY...HAPPY as Phil says on Duck Dynasty. I found my old duck call from my second Navy duty station...Whidbey Island Naval Air Station at Oak Harbor, WA. where our first child was born. He is now 40. Oh my...but the duck call still works. It is a Faulk's WA-22 made in Lake Charles, Lousiana (must have been before West Monroe was put on the map by the Robertson rednecks.
I'd like to say I started watching Duck Dynasty before it was cool, but it took months of weekly lunches and me hearing other guys talk about thsi crazy show before my wife and I started watching it...And of course we LOVE it!! Even still, we don't Tivo the show (We don't have Tivo) or plan our schedules around it, but when they have a duck dynasty marathon (which is every day that ends in the letter "y" jack!), we use to watch it. ANYWAY...I looked over at my beautiful wife one night and informed her that she was married to a future Si (the crazy insane uncle out of the group). In an ironic twist of God's glorious sense of humor, Si has become the star of this crazy show...Which is cool because he's always been my fav!! Here's a few things I know about ole Si: I know that Si stands for SilusI know that he is married and has been for over 40 yearsI know he is a Vietnam Vet and retired from the military in 1993I know he is Phil Robertsons youngest brotherI know he lives in West Monroe, LAI know that h ...
It's official. The Gerbers are taking our first ever family vacation and we're headed to Louisiana and Mississippi for Stalkerpalooza Junior. We're taking the kids to West Monroe to see where Duck Dynasty on A&E is filmed, headed to New Orleans, Louisiana for a reunion of my oldest friends then to City of Gulfport to show my family where I grew up. Hoping to get a glimpse and possible pic of Jase Roberston or Si Robertson for the kids.
Willie Robertson borrowed his father Phil’s signature saying while summing up the feelings of the West Monroe family following five weeks of hunting during a break in filming the A&E hit reality series “Duck Dynasty.”
I now have another dream to add to my dream life list... I want to speak for Brother Phil Robertson, the Duck Commander of the infamous Duck Dynasty, at his church in West Monroe, Louisiana. And then I want to meet his whole family and sit down at their big table and eat with them. Oh, and I want to sit next to Uncle Si and fellowship with him...JACK!!
Phil and Willie Robertson, Duck Commanders from Duck Dynasty, were on Leno last night! They sell 100,000 duck calls a year at $20 a pop from their corporate headquarters in West Monroe, LA. I went bar hopping in Monroe, LA, one Saturday night in 1967! Phil started making duck calls in the early 70's. Old photos of Phil and Willie before they had long hair and beards were very interesting. Phil was the starting quarterback for Louisiana Tech back then, and Terry Bradshaw was his back up!!!
Josh Parrish has Messed Me Up-I am watching Duck Dynasty, almost Addicted! I may even have to visit Uncle Si & Toby Frost in West Monroe !!!
I love Duck Dynasty. The new Andy Griffith Show..:) See you in a week West Monroe, La.
Where the *** to they find some of the people on Duck Dynasty? I've lived in West Monroe a long time, but I've never seen these people. And where do find someone that goes by the name Mountain Man around here? We have no mountains.
I am certain that I need to make a trip to West Monroe, Louisiana to personally meet Duck Dynasty's Jessica Robertson's twin sister. "Does Jessica Robertson have a twin sister?", you ask?? I hope so! ;)
Watched my first show of Duck Dynasty last night. We just now started getting it in Uruguay. It was too funny. And funny thing is my first roommate at Lee University was from West Monroe, LA! Wonder if she knows them!
I think they need to do a Real Housewives of West Monroe and follow the Duck Dynasty women. Miss Kay cooks and I thought that was part of being a Housewife
Alright, watching Duck Dynasty. Frog in One/Career Day episode. I'm ROLLING! Hilarious! Man I love those West Monroe folks. Good people!
"Duck Dynasty" on A&E makes Swamp People look like Downton Abbey. Best thing to happen to West Monroe since 4WD & mud tires.
