PHOTOS: Joan Rivers’ star-studded funeral Family, friends and famous names from the worlds of TV, film and comedy have said a final farewell to Joan Rivers at her funeral in New York. The mourners included radio host Howard Stern, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, mogul Donald Trump, comic Kathy Griffin and film star Whoopi Goldberg. Crowds of fans and media also gathered outside Manhattan’s Temple Emanu-El. The comedian, who died on Thursday, wrote in 2012 about how she wanted her funeral to be “a huge showbiz affair”. Rivers died a week after suffering a cardiac arrest while having a routine medical procedure. She was 81. The private event for the comedian and presenter took place at Manhattan's Temple Emanu-El, reports USA Today. Whoopi Goldberg, Howard Stern and Barbara Walters were among the attendees, as well as Donald Trump, Kristin Chenoweth and Kathie Lee Gifford. Exact details of the funeral were not revealed, but around 500 spectators were waiting on the street as the ceremony started. Rivers died aged 81 on Thursday (September 4), a week after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest during a throat operation. However an autopsy found no clear "cause and manner" of death. The star previously joked about her fantasy funeral in her 2012 book I Hate Everyone...Starting With Me, saying that she wanted a "huge showbiz affair" with "Meryl Streep crying in five different accents".
