Of these barangays, there were 89,540 families or 449,981 individuals. In Agusan del Sur, the roads Osmena-Sagunto-Pangangan in La Paz; San Luis in Bayugan; & San Luis in Prosperidad are passable only to 4WD vehicle.

TOTT: Talk of the Town Typhoon Pablo Devastates Visayas and Mindanao ~amidst early warning from various Disaster Risk Reduction and Management council, still Typhoon Pablo struck the province of Visayas and Mindanao as it unfurls its deadly winds which brought heavy rains, flashfloods, landslides, mudslides and multiple casualties. As of today, the typhoon has killed nearly 300 people, and is still increasing, with a huge number of injured residents and missing people. Isolated barangays, especially in Compostella Valley, were the concern for the relief goods and rescue operations. Sadly, experts concluded that a lot of the damages brought to agricultural, commercial, and domestic properties were cause by the flood and landslides which caused of illegal logging and small scale mining in the mountains of Visayas and Mindanao. Death toll caused by the greediness of people who hunger for wealth, but feed on the blood of their fellowmen.

Lacking both early-warning systems and risk-reduction budgets, medium-sized towns in Africa are poorly equipped to respond to emergencies provoked by natural disasters, rural-urban migration and ecosystem destruction. So says a recent report of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), titled “City Resilience in Africa: A Ten Essentials Pilot.” The office recently unveiled the 64-page report in Dakar, Senegal, at the Africities Summit, where almost 5,000 delegates representing African governments and their development partners from around the world are examining the impact of urbanization, among other settlement issues.
