Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series and Stephen King's Christine, come to mind.
So I took this "Who do you write like" quiz... One story has me writing like Stephen King. Another has me writing like William Gibson, and another like H.P. Lovecraft. So, like my stories and interests, I'm all over the place. Maybe I can finish one of these darn things and become successful at it. I need to sit down and focus on it. If I'm going to do it, there's no better time to start than now.Mozart was dead at my age...(Thanks for that tidbit of inspiration Diana Gabaldon.)
So I am seeing this on posts today, and thought I would chime in for a change. 10 books that have stayed with me. 1.Pride and Predjudice (Jane Austen) 2. The shining (because the book is just that much better than the moving) (Stephen King) 3. Harry Potter (all 7 of them) (J.K. Rowling) 4. As the Crow Flies (Jeffrey Archer) 5.Dracula (Bram Stoker) 6. Are you There God its Me Margaret (Judy Blume) 7. Anne of Green Gambles (Lucy Maud Montgomery) 8. The Sky Stone ( Jack Whyte) 9. Jurasic Park (another example where the book outshines the movie) (Michael Crichton) 10. Outlander (Diana Gabaldon)

I have authors that make me think..hard. Stephen White, Diana Gabaldon, Dean Koontz (sometimes) "Duma Key" by Stephen King, definitely and,
I've just read the first few pages of 4 different books. I'm having a hard time trying to decide what to read next. Help me decide. Here's my choices: Stephen King's "The Stand", George R.R. Martin's "Fevre Dream", Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander", or Dawn Cook's "First Truth".
