Tuesday the House passed David Valadao's misleadingly-named California Emergency Drought Relief Act of 2014, 230-182. It was co-sponsored by 6 clueless right-wing California Republican ideologues, Ken Calvert, Paul Cook, Doug LaMalfa, Kevin McCarthy, Tom McClintock and Devin Nunes, plus the most right-wing fake Democrat in the California delegation, Blue Dog Jim Costa. Every Republican voted for it and Costa was joined by 5 of his fellow reactionary Blue Dogs who generally back conservative Republican approaches: John Barrow (GA), Jim Matheson (UT), Mike McIntyre (NC), Nick Rahall (WV)-- all defeated last month or forced into retirement-- and Collin Peterson (MN), Big Ag's Democratic shill. - See more at:

Let’s start with 5 comprehensive health reform proposals that have actually been introduced in Congress—some well before President Obama even was nominated for president, and all months before the House (11/7/09) or Senate (12/24/09) voted on what eventually became Obamacare. Ten Steps to Transform Health Care in America Act (S. 1783) introduced by Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY) July 12, 2007. Every American Insured Health Act introduced by Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Bob Corker (R-TN) with co-sponsors Tom Coburn (R-OK), Mel Martinez (formerly R-FL) and Elizabeth Dole (formerly R-NC) on July 26, 2007. Senators Bob Bennett (R-UT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) introduced the Healthy Americans Act on January 18, 2007 and re-introduced the same bill on February 5, 2009. Patients’ Choice Act of 2009 introduced by Senators Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Richard Burr (R-NC) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Devin Nunes (R-CA) on May 20, 2009. U.S. REP. Mike Thompson INTRODUCES BIPARTISAN BILL TO EXPAND TELEHEALTH Legislation Helps Save Money, Lives by Expanding Telehealth Coverage and Improving Quality of Care WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced today that he introduced, H.R. 3306, the Telehealth Enhancement Act of 2013, bipartisan legislation to expand telemedicine. By allowing Medicare payments for remote patient monitoring, the bill expands the locations where patients can receive Medicare-covered teleheath services. The bill also gives states the opportunity to expand Medicaid coverage to include telehealth services for women with high-risk pregnancies. U.S. Reps. Gregg Harper (MS-3-R.), Devin Nunes (CA-22-R), and Peter Welch (VT-D-AL) joined Thompson in introducing the legislation. “Telehealth is health care, and it should be a tool in every doctor’s toolbox,” said Thompson. “By expanding Medicare and Medicaid telehealth coverage through this legislation, we can make sure more people can get high-quality c ...
Mon Oct 07, 2013 at 11:53 AM PDT Republican congressman: It's Ted Cruz's fault we're *** by Joan McCarterFollow : The shutdown blame game and continuing civil war has gone from absurd to downright hilarious. (WASHINGTON — Rep. Devin Nunes, a conservative Republican from California’s Central Valley, on Monday accused freshman GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of lying to House Republicans that they could dismantle the Democratic health care reform law known as Obamacare by forcing a government shutdown. Nunes, R-Tulare, said the strategy pursued by Cruz, a Texas freshman, and to a lesser extent Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, is “based on a false premise” because Republicans can’t get two-thirds votes in the House and the Senate to override President Barack Obama’s veto when he rejects any bill that ends his signature law.) Yes, Ted Cruz made them all stupid. And unable to count! This, by the way, is coming from the guy that called his fellow House Republicans "lemmings with suicide vests." He's also the guy, along ...

"Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is denying that he ever endorsed the idea of passing a 'clean' funding bill -- or one without strings attached -- to keep the government running. But he did. On Monday, Nunes' office asked The Washington Post to remove the congressman's name from their list of House Republicans who have called for passing a clean continuing resolution to end the government shutdown. Nunes had been on the paper's list since last week, and he's still included in The Huffington Post's tally. The move by Nunes' office comes a few days after the congressman fumed to conservative outlet Newsmax that a certain 'left-wing publication' had incorrectly reported that he said he would back a clean funding bill. 'The last thing I would do is work with [House Minority Leader] Nancy Pelosi,' Nunes told Newsmax. He suggested that 'someone took some comments I made and then made up a conclusion.' But HuffPost's Sabrina Siddiqui asked Nunes last Monday, hours before the shutdown began, whether he'd support a cl ...
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: According to The Washington Post (10/1/13), there are now 12 Republicans who are willing to support a “clean” Continuing Resolution. Translation: They are willing to stab gun owners in the back and to vote with Democrats in funding the ENTIRE government -- including voting to fund the unpopular, anti-gun ObamaCare law. They are: 1) Scott Rigell (R-VA) 2) Pat Meehan (R-PA) 3) Charlie Dent (R-PA) 4) Peter King (R-NY) 5) Devin Nunes (R-CA) 6) Jon Runyan (R-NJ) 7) Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA) 8) Frank Wolf (R-VA) 9) Michael Grimm (R-NY) 10) Rob Wittman (R-VA) 11) Erik Paulsen (R-MN) 12) Lou Barletta (R-PA) Plus, there are four more who, according to the Post, are on the fence and might be soon voting with the 12 above. They are: 13) Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) 14) Steve Womack (R-AR) 15) Dennis Ross (R-FL) 16) Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) ACTION: Please contact your Representative. Said Rogers in supporting a temporary clean CR: “I think that would be the adult way to approach it.” Senate Appropriations Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) in continuing to press the case to end the shutdown and pass a long-term funding bill that ends sequester-level cuts: “So that’s what this is all about. This isn’t about numbers. This isn’t about wonky ideas. This is about meeting compelling human needs. In the Labor-HHS subcommittee we ...

People don't get elected to shut the government down, especially over something you clearly don't have the votes for —Rep Devin Nunes (R-CA)
"Seventeen House Republicans have now indicated that they would support a “clean” continuing resolution, like the one passed by the U.S. Senate, to reopen the government. If they joined with all 200 House Democrats, it is possible that they could give majority support to such a bill without any additional Republicans — if Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) allowed an up-or-down vote. On Tuesday, a handful of House Republicans from Democratic-leaning and swing districts endorsed the idea of ending the shutdown without the anti-Affordable Care Act poison pills they had all previously voted to include. By Wednesday afternoon, the number had risen to 17, according to a Huffington Post tally. The Republicans abandoning their party’s line on this include Reps. Devin Nunes (CA); Mike Simpson (ID); Erik Paulsen (MN); Leonard Lance, Frank LoBiondo and Jon Runyan (NJ); Michael Grimm and Peter King (NY); Lou Barletta, Charlie Dent, Mike Fitzpatrick, Jim Gerlach, and Pat Meehan (PA); and Randy Forbes, Scott Rigell, ...

Some Republicans knew trying to defund/delay the Affordable Healthcare Act was a bad idea, but followed the Tea Party anyway. Some of those are ready to pass a clean CR, because they know it's political suicide. {Suzy} This came from Republicans for Obama What Republicans in Congress have been saying over the past 24 hours: “The circus created the past few days isn’t reflective of mainstream Republicans — it projects an image of not being reasonable.” -Michael Grimm (R-NY) "We've lost this battle. We need to move on to the next one." -Dennis Ross (R-FL) "If you are going to take a hostage and shut down the government, you *** sure better have an endgame and this didn't have that." -Devin Nunes (R-CA) House Republicans should "accept the fact that we're not going to defund Obamacare." -John McCain (R-AZ) "Any opportunity to defund Obamacare through the CR, if there was such an opportunity, is now gone." -John Cornyn (R-TX) "Sooner or later, we are going to have to pass a clean continuing resolutio ...
JOHN BOEHNER'S PAGE ONE MESSAGE ON THE Immigration Reform in the House – Republican Targets (prepared July 3, 2013) If there is a vote on comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship in the House, it will pass with a bipartisan majority. If all but a handful of the House Democrats vote yes, and at least 20 Republicans from the list below come along, reform can easily clear the 218 necessary to pass the lower chamber. Looking at the list of 99 House Republicans below, it’s clear that capturing those 20 or so Republican votes is well within reach. Our target list includes several different groups of Republicans, such as: . Republicans with growing numbers of Latino and Asian constituents. While redistricting has temporarily insulated many House Republicans from the “demographic cliff” their party faces if it caters only to white voters, These include California Republicans Jeff Denham, David Valadao, Gary Miller, Buck McKeon and Devin Nunes; Colorado Republican Mike Coffman; Florida R ...

Despite Democratic fears, predictions of the demise of President Barack Obama's agenda appear exaggerated after a week of cascading controversies, political triage by the administration and party leaders in Congress and lack of evidence to date of wrongdoing close to the Oval Office. "Absolutely not," Steven Miller, the recently resigned acting head of the Internal Revenue Service, responded Friday when asked if he had any contact with the White House about targeting conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status for special treatment. "The president's re-election campaign?" persisted Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif. "No," said Miller. The hearing took place at the end of a week in which Republicans repeatedly assailed Obama and were attacked by Democrats in turn – yet sweeping immigration legislation advanced methodically toward bipartisan approval in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The measure "has strong support of its own in the Senate," said Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., a member of the panel. Across the C ...

I registered No Party Preference today. So republican's are saddened by this, others lashed out and most that I have heard from are very supportive. Also, I am glad that Devin Nunes voted against the deal last night, but . first h sponosred the bill, then voted against it and then went on the radio today to say that it wasn't that bad of a bill and actually has lots of good things in it and that there was no wrong or right votes on the GOP side. I was happy about his no vote last night, but not anymore.
I realize this is a FOX news report, however both FOX and Mr. Boehmer's letter plays to the ignorance of right wingers and here's why: No matter how well phrased or now appropriate, Mr. Boehner is Monday morning Quarterbacking and surly has a GOP agenda other than the interest of America. What people need to recognize is the GOP controls the House of Representatives and the Committee on Intelligence. Mr. Boehner's so-called appropriate question needs to be posed to these GOP members of this committee: , Michael “Mike” Rogers - Chairman, Joe Heck - Technical, Sue Myrick - Terrorism, Lynn Westmoreland - Oversight, Lynn Westmoreland, Peter “Pete” King, Frank LoBiondo, Jeff Miller, Devin Nunes, Thomas Rooney, William “Mac” Thornberry. Bankruptcies: Connecting the Dots! - We would like to share Devin Nunes' Newsletter with our readers because we are constantly attempting to 'connect the dots' for the people of California to show them how making it more and more difficult to create businesses and hire people is sending us into a perpetual downward spiral. As Congressman Nunes says in his commentary "the main thing that distinguishes the federal government’s budget from those of California’s failing municipalities is simply the scale of the irresponsibility." The title of his newsletter 'Somewhere Between Critical and Too Late to Deal With It' is self-explanatory. If we don't get some leaders in this state and this country who are willing to deal with the massive problems we have, we might not be able to dig our way out. Families Protecting the Valley is primarily concerned with farm water and the farm economy and how it impacts the overall economy. We would also like to make the point that the political mismanagement of our fin ...
