Had an Amazing night at Beatlesfest! So much happened, met great fans! Watch a concert backstage then the band coming up to us asking us questions, became an honorary blues girl from The Blues Brothers who came up to us to talk. Met Mark Rivera, Freda Kelly, Peter Asher, and the amazing Denny Laine who we met at the beginning of the night and got his autograph on an album, then saw him hours later and he signed more things for us saying "it's the twins again!". Just amazing, everything and more. I'm truly blessed. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Michael Thomas "Mike" Pinder was born on December 27, 1941 in Erdington, Birmingham, England. Pinder, Thomas, and members of other successful Birmingham bands (Denny Laine, Clint Warwick and Graeme Edge) formed The Moody Blues in 1964. After bassist/vocalist Clint Warwick and then frontman Denny Laine left the group, Pinder was instrumental in the selection of young Swindon guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Justin Hayward as Laine's replacement. Old friend John Lodge came in as bassist/vocalist, thus setting the 'Classic' Moodies lineup in place. Pinder was one of the first musicians to use the mellotron in live performance.

Today, in the history of Rock and Roll, October 29th: 1944: Guitarist/vocalist with the Moody Blues and Wings, Denny Laine is born. He writes and sings one of Wings’ best songs “Time To Hide.” 1955: Quiet Riot’s vocalist, Kevin DuBrow, let’s out his first wail (shortly after birth). 1957: After his concert at Los Angeles' Pan Pacific Auditorium, Elvis Presley meets TV star -- and, thanks to Elvis' inspiration, recording artist -- Rick Nelson for the first time. Appearing with The Beatles - Denny and the Diplomats, led by Denny Laine, who went on to join the Moody Blues and eventually, Paul McCartney's group Wings. 1965, Marty Balin and Paul Kantner formed a Folk-Rock group that would evolve into the Jefferson Airplane, the premier San Francisco psychedelic band of the late '60s. The Airplane made its debut the following month at a Haight-Ashbury club, and was signed to RCA later in the year. 1966, On the recommendation of Rolling Stone Keith Richards' girlfriend, Chas Chandler from The Animals went to see Jimi Hendrix play at The Cafe Wha in New York City. biography[-]by Bruce Eder Although they're best known today for their lush, lyrically and musically profound (some would say bombastic) psychedelic-era albums, the Moody Blues started out as one of the better R&B-based combos of the British Invasion. The group's history began in Birmingham, England with Ray Thomas (harmonica, vocals) and Mike Pinder (keyboards, vocals), who had played together in El Riot & the Rebels and the Krew Cats. They began recruiting members of some of the best rival groups working in Birmingham, including Denny Laine (vocals, guitar), Graeme Edge (drums), and Clint Warwick (bass, vocals). The Moody Blues, as they came to be known, made their debut in Birmingham in May of 1964, and quickly earned the notice and later the services of manager Tony Secunda. A major tour was quickly booked, and the band landed an engagement at the Marquee Club, which resulted in a contract with England's Decca Records less than six months after their formation. The group's first single, "Steal Your Hea ...

Gypsies also did not hail from Egypt, as another theory suggests, Gypsies (or Romani/Romany, the Gypsy word for "men") originated in northern India 1,000 years ago. Their language, called Romani, is undoubtedly related to Hindu and other Indian languages (named Indo-Aryan). Nobody knows why they left India. Some say that their ancestors, artisans and artists, accompanied troops and after some military conflicts left India. By 1,300 AD they reached Europe, after passing through Persia and Turkey. Today there may be even 5 million gypsies, most of them living in Europe. Very few are still nomads and many got rich, but in many areas, gypsies are still the lowest part of the society. Famous Gypsies include :~ Yul Brynner (actor), Bob Hoskins (actor), David Essex (singer) and Denny Laine (from the group Moody Blues). Also... found some info to suggest Charlie Chaplin was from Romany descent (however no concrete evidence).
Pipes of Peace is the fifth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released in 1983. As the follow-up to the popular Tug of War, Pipes of Peace was nearly as successful and the source of more big hits for McCartney although critics were much cooler on the album than they were on its predecessor. Upon its release, many were quick to notice that Pipes of Peace mirrored its predecessor in many ways. It was produced by George Martin, it featured two collaborations with the same artist (this time with Michael Jackson; the Tug of War collaborations being with Stevie Wonder), and continued McCartney's alliance in the studio with Ringo Starr, former 10cc guitarist Eric Stewart and his last session work with Wings guitarist Denny Laine. The reason for all of this is that many of the songs released on Pipes of Peace were recorded during the 1981 sessions for Tug of War, with "Pipes of Peace", "The Other Me", "So Bad", "Tug of Peace" and "Through Our Love" being recorded afterward in September/October 1982. By Novembe ...

In 1974 Alvin Lee of Ten Years After performed his first solo concert at the Rainbow in London, March 22, 1974 . Scott and I were in London that day, and had missed meeting Ringo that very same morning at the Apple offices. Word around town was that George Harrison was going to be playing with Alvin that night, as he had recently played on a track for Alvin's excellent LP The Road to Freedom. We got our tickets, and went to the show. In the lobby we met Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, and they were amazingly friendly. All good, autographs pictured. George was not the show, but after the show we were walking out to the lobby, and ran into George Harrison. I froze, but we did manage to say hello, and he did say hello back to us. Well, it turns out Paul McCartney was there that night as well, and we ran into Denny Laine! We talked to him for a bit, and he asked us our names, and said Paul would be around he he would introduce us. Paul never made an appearance, but we did run into Patti Harrison and her sister Jenn ...
MOVE TO BOOGIE PT2 By Kev Attwood When John Lennon was shot in 1980 my Dad & Mum bought me the single Imagine, on the B side was one of the most amazing tunes that Lennon had done and I mean as well as the Beatles stuff he did and that was Working Class Hero, I TOTALLY understood what he was saying especially the line “They hate you if your cleaver and despise you if you’re a fool” I was still learning to read & write at the time. This song would ring ALL the way through my life. I was clever and VERY clever just not book clever. All exams are about is memory that’s why now at Uni you have to write Essay’s in your exams. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Wings and the Beatles were a MASSIVE infurlance in my early music history, I had all the Beatles LP’s they released + greatest hit, Beatles 1962 – 66 (RED VYNAL) Beatles 1967 – 70 & Live At The Hollywood Bowl, I had most of Wings LP’s as well and yes I did have a copy of Mull In Kyntine. A little bit of history, why did Denny Laine and the re ...
Well that all went in the blink of an eye didnt it...?? What did we all think ??? .Thursday night was absolutly brilliant. It was the first time i had seen both Gary us Bonds and The Nelsons and i was not disapointed at all. Chilly to start with but it still has to be my favorite saturday morning of the year and Randy Chesterman the greatest rock n roll DJ in the world got the place heated up before long. Hey BEER FOR BREAKFAST! YAY. quick nap and some food before the Surf on Saturday night. Must say i was not overly excited to see the English invasion and i was more excited to see Busey.! WOW didnt that change quickly! Peter Asher,Terry Sylvester,Denny Laine and again Albery Lee was just AMAZING,JUST LOVED IT BIG TIME. ...
Today's AOTD: Ginger Baker's Airforce (1970): There has been many a debate as to whether or not the supergroup Blind Faith ever lived up to it's billing. Listening to it over a decade after it's release for the first time I believe it did, but at the time of it's release many people found it disappointing. This album would be the follow up, minus Clapton, who was replaced by strong saxaphone soloing by Chris Wood, Graham Bond and Harold McNair. Ginger Baker decided to push Blind Faith in a new direction and the sound of this live recording (from the Albert Hall) is amazing. The sax interplay on "Don't Care" is astonishing and for a band making only it's second live appearance. It looked like Ginger was on to something. "Da Da Man" and "Aiko Baiye" also show the new found Afro Beat direction that Ginger would pursue with Fela Kuti in Nigeria. Great live album from a Master drummer with a master band (also features Steve Winwood, Rick Grech, and future Wing, Denny Laine).

Sad cause I can't be there...( SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2: Live performances by Gary Busey’s 35th Anniversary Tribute of “The Buddy Holly Story” with guest, original Winter Dance Party guitarist Tommy Allsup, and a British Invasion Tribute featuring Eric Burdon & The Animals, Peter Asher of Peter & Gordon, Denny Laine of the Moody Blues & Wings, and Terry Sylvester formerly of The Hollies. Peter Asher expressed his genuine enthusiasm when asked about his involvement in the 2013 Winter Dance Party. “I am looking forward so much to returning to the Surf Ballroom to play and sing and talk and listen in honour of Buddy Holly. Indeed, not only am I proud to be part of any tribute to his music, but I owe Buddy’s memory a particular debt of gratitude on this occasion. We members of the so-called “British Invasion” were united in the first place by our love for great American music and for the songs of Buddy Holly in particular,” he said. “Without Buddy and his genius, I would not have this special an ...

Got the chance to visit with Peter Asher, Kate Taylor and Denny Laine yesterday with old Green River Ordinance bandmate and legendary producer Carl Sturken, (Rihanna, NSYNC, Rod Stewart) at The Iridium. Peter puts on a great show and his stories are so memorable. Kate is one of the most genuinely beautiful persons you would ever want to meet, (Hope you are enjoying your visit with The President today Kate).Turns out Denny lives near me in Brick and we plan on getting together for some sailing this summer. Carl, Marc and John from my GRO days are still my closest friends. These folks are part of our rich musical heritage so please go see one of their live shows when they play near you. You can see Kate when she comes to Salt Studio February 22. Tix will be limites to about 50 for this very intimate show and will go on sale shortly.

Denny Laine has fond memories of working and hanging out at Abbey Road Studios, the venerable London recording...
Denny Laine doing "Abbey Road memories" show with song by Beatles, Moodies, Wings, Zombies and Hollies. It's so tacky, but I would love it.
A little Denny Laine musical trivia. Denny will be performing with the Peter Asher Band at Salt on Thursday 1/17. Peter Asher was one half of the famous duo Peter & Gordon. They had a huge hit in 1964 with a Paul McCartney penned song "World Without Love". He is also the brother of Paul's ex girlfriend Jane. After the demise of Peter & Gordon he went on to become the A & R guy for Apple Records and signed an unknown James Taylor to the label and has gone on to work and produce many great artists, including; Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Neil Diamond and so many more. So there you have it.just to prove we're not just another pretty face at Salt. Tix at www.saltgastropub.com
I really respect Paul for never replacing John. Lots of great writing teams are split too soon be it by death or fighting. Thats not to say Paul didnt TRY writing with others (Denny Laine, Elvis Costello, Eric Stewart, even extending an invitation to George in the 80's) but never 'officially' wrote as a pair again...
Hey McCartney fans ... any thoughts on his "London Town" record? Sessions started at Abbey Road with the kickass "Wings Over America" lineup including Jimmy McCulloch, guitar and Joe English, drums. Then, as he often does, Macca moved the proceedings to an unusual locale - three chartered yachts moored off the Virgin Islands, building a remote studio afloat! (remember "Band On The Run" was cut in Nigeria). But Linda's pregnancy cut short the proceedings for a few months, and when back in London, the quintet had been reduced to the core trio - Paul, Linda and Denny Laine. Party-hardy McCulloch joined with Steve Marriott, only to pass away two years later, and English got homesick for America. I've always loved the record ... some of it has a RAM sort of fun to it (Morse Moose and the Grey Goose, Famous Groupies, Backwards Traveler), the songwriting collaborations between Denny and Paul are FANTASTIC (Deliver Your Children, London Town, Children, Children, and others), Paul does his Elvis (Name And Address) ...

Saw Glen Burtnik last evening at the State Theater for his BEATLES BASH VI (Denny Laine of Wings was a Special Guest on a few tunes). I was pleasantly surprised by the evenings performance which focused on the music of Sir Paul... at times there were close to 50 people on stage, there was a string section, a horn section, at least 10 back-up singers and at least a half dozen special guests on Vocals or on an instrument. He also had the Drum Corp from my old Alma Mater North Brunswick Township High School playing in the aisles during one song. I knew he was from the area, but did not realize his connection to my hometown until I read his bio. Here is another example of a local North Brunswick boy who has done well. I will definitely see him again. I also have to say that there seems to be an extraordinary number of talented musicians that have come from No. Brunswick... maybe something in the water!
Yeah, Denny Laine really WAS the Moody Blues back then. Please don't forget to check out my other channel:
apparently Denny Laine changed his name to David Blaine. My brain said so. That's what I get for playing Go Now...XD
