James Ibori the ex Delta State Governor was jailed for stealing at a London court and he said it was for political reasons. Chimaroke Nnamani ex Enugu State Governor standing trial on allegation of stealing billions of Naira from Enugu State blamed his political enemies same with Salisu Buhari who blamed his political enemies on allegation of certificate forgery. John Yakubu Yufus the Police Pension Fund criminal blamed his haters. Chief Bode George blamed OBJ for his travails. Alamasiegha ex Bayelsa State Governor said he was jailed for political reasons. OBJ blamed his I'll fated 3rd Term that would have pronged Nigeria into dictatorship on political reasons, Anenih could not give account of the billions he stole from the government, rather he said those questioning him are doing it for political reasons. The Nigerian politicians possess such amazing saintly attributes and disposition that not even an angel can fault them. That is why our country is such a beautiful place.
o rescue the poor girls from this murderous band of terrorists. While it is true that the Boko Haram terrorists` activities are happening in the northern part of the country especially Bornu, Adamawa and Yobe, the fact is that other parts of the country are equally affected. The recent bombing in Abuja and the casualties did not discriminate between northerners and southerners and that is the compelling reason all Nigerians should give the Jonathan administration, the necessary support and understanding. It is against this backdrop the sentiments expressed within the week by the Delta State Governor; Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan could be understood and understood. Speaking in Asaba while receiving a team of foreign defence advisers and attaches to Nigeria, the governor called for countries to step up actions to stem the tide of terrorism in Nigeria and other parts of the world. He argued that the issue of terrorism has gone beyond political or diplomatic divide and that cannot be subjected to international rivalr ...

She said that the church that ought to know and intervene is not seeing it as a serious matter, adding that with all indications from what is happening, it implies that God is calling us to return to Him. According to Mrs. Uduaghan, we need to return to God. Every man/woman has gone astray, we have left basic Christianity and thereby decided to pursue a different thing entirely, the only emphasis we preac ...

Vanguard IBORI: Judge adjourns for ruling on retrial on April 17, 2014 / in News 9:45 am Judge Anthony Pitts of Southwark Crown Court in London has adjourned the confiscation proceedings of former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, to give his ruling on whether to start the case afresh as being sought by the British Crown Prosecution or continue with the hearing that started last year, which would only require him giving a ruling on the confiscation proceedings. The judge had signaled in the course of the hearing that resumed this April that he was confused by the manner the defence team to James Ibori led by Mr Ivan Krolic, had gone about the case, while the Crown Prosecution claimed that the defence counsel had ambushed it in the hearing. Following these statements, it was becoming clear to the defence counsel that the judge was attempting to grant the request of the Crown Prosecution to restart the case despite all the points of law it raised. Mr. Krolic made fierce arguments against re-starting th ...

Excerpts: On the personality of the year award given to Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, by Vanguard Newspapers, recently. He deserved it. The award is legendary because there are some awards in Nigeria that are politically-motivated or economically induced. But the awards given to Dr. Uduaghan by Vanguard Newspapers, as well as Aliko Dangote and Innocent Chukwuma (Innoson) are different. These are people with their own strong pedigree in the fields that they have chosen. Also, the Vanguard Newspapers is rich in history and we all know the publisher, Uncle Sam Amuka, as a very honest and transparent person. When he says ‘white, it is white.’ So, Dr. Uduaghan obvi ...

[WHAT THE SUN AWARD MEANS TO US IN DELTA] - The conferment of the prestigious The Sun Man of the Year Award 2013 on Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has further lent credence to the popular belief that the Delta State helmsman is one of the greatest Nigerian leaders thrown up by the present democratic dispensation. Commissioner for Information in Delta State, Barrister Chike Ogeah, who made the assertion, said the state and its people were particularly delighted that his principal was nominated for the award at no financial cost whatsoever. Speaking to the reporter in his office in Asaba, Barrister Ogeah said the governor, his family, officials of his administration and, indeed, the entire people of Delta State were honoured by the recognition accorded Uduaghan by the organisation. He said: “The truth is that, if you know where we are coming from, in terms of the politics of this state, then you will know what this means to us. “There were lots of sceptics, because of the background where ...
Here is a letter I sent to the Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor on February 8, 2014. Hi Dr. Okubor, I write to you again to express my utter disgust at the action of the Police in Asaba yesterday. Although not sure that it was sanctioned by the Delta State Government, I feel though that the system has been turned upside down as regards investigation and prosecution of any criminal act in Delta State or perhaps Nigeria at large. I cannot understand why the victims of crimes have been subjected to daily trips to Asaba while the perpetrators of the most heinous crime of wanton destruction of property and capital murder are sitting fancy at home without arrest nearly four weeks after the facts. The events that took place in Asaba yesterday have further shattered the little faith that I had in the Nigerian system of justice. Dr. Okubor, where on this earth do the Police invite the victims of crime and the perpetrators in the same room to make statements besides the court room? Not even in Papua New . ...

DELTA STATE 2015 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: MY HONEST OPINION – ELDER DR. CHUKWUMA NWAONICHA A one time governorship aspirant in Delta State, Elder Dr. Chukwuma Nwaonicha has during the week during a chat with Ika Weekly at Agbor spoke about the Delta State governship race in 2015. The elder statesman did not betray any emotion as he specifically chose Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the best man for the job. In his words, “in my honest opinion, Delta State governorship race in 2015 will be based on proven personality and integrity and not on the fact that Delta State is predominantly a People s Democratic Party, PDP state or through empty boasting by some aspirants who cannot even win the party nomination in their local government. These aspirants are only trying to make themselves relevant which is the beauty of democracy. However, as I observed 2015 election in Delta State is not for politicians that are rude, arrogant, unscrupulous, mischief makers and liars. “With this in mind, a good and marketable . ...
The British government has denied extradition pleas for the former Delta State Governor, James Ibori who is currently serving a jail term in the UK after being charged and sentenced for money laundring by a British court. This is a slap on the Nigerian diplomatic corps who were hoping to have the 'Onaferi' extradicted to complete his jail term in Nigeria. The UK government were not convinced however, following the example of DSP Alamiyiesigha,a former Governor of Bayelsa State, who was extradited on the same grounds but later pardoned by President GEJ. There's no telling if the Nigerian government would do the same...and with the recent anti *** bill being signed into law, the west is bound to act cold towards Abuja. Well.

Ibori’s lead counsel, Mr. Ivan Krolick, made this clear to the court for granting the crown prosecution’s request to halt the assets confiscation proceedings after three weeks of exhaustive legal arguments. He told Judge Anthony Pitts that “there will be cost implications.” Preparations for the abruptly ended proceedings started in January leading to the last three weeks in September and a review of 63,000 pages of prosecution papers by the defence team. Nigeria clocks 53, my 1 trillion naira reason to crucify President Goodluck Jonathan. Fellow Nigerians, Yes, 1trillion naira reason/s to crucify Mr. President and his administration. Many would wonder why I had chosen the shakenly- high price tag for my caption and above all else, on the very day of the nation's independence, well, it's an open choice and my article. But just in case you would really want to know why I had chosen that, about a month ago, the Chairman/CEO of OVATION, Mr. Dele Mamodu who also is an author, publisher, public speaker and politician had written an article which was more or less like an open letter to Mr. President. That particular article published in many news portals, he had captioned, "The 1Billion Naira Advise to Mr. President", and so, I am toeing his path in this write-up. Now, unlike Mr. Dele Mamodu, who had written in his own article that he was compelled to give it that huge monetary stake caption because Nigerians now only make reference to Billions, in all money cir ...
Beloved, Happy Independent day! Nigeria is 53 today. Every place is glittering with green white green and the elite are talking about the country and its problems and why celebration should not be made. Certainly without doubt Nigeria has a problem and a lot of people have said that Nigeria problem is corruption but i beg to defer from that. To me Nigeria's problem is INDISCIPLINE. Corruption is a subset of the universal set called INDISCIPLINE. When you are not disciplined you will be corrupt because you will not obey the relevant laws against corruption. I want you to know that they are laws in the land to curb corruption so it is not that they are no standing laws to stop it but because of indiscipline the people in power will not want to obey it and those that are saddled with the responsibility of enforcing such laws and bringing the offenders to book will not do it because of indiscipline. You will and can only be brought to book when you go against what they want you to do but when you are in their ...

Warri Wolves striker Musa Najere was very close to tears after the Federation Cup Cup final loss to Enyimba as he and his teammates had lost the opportunity to redeem the largesse promised them by Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan. Najere told Goal that it was painful that they lost their opportunity to go on vacation in France and also become proud owners of brand new Toyota Avensis cars because they allowed Enyimba to beat them to the Federation Cup crown. "We feel very bad as we have lost everything. We won't have a short vacation in Europe and the cars we had been promised by the governor are all gone when we were actually close to winning it," Najere told Goal. A penalty miss by Super Eagles' defender and team captain, Azubuike Egwuekwe during the shootout , saw Wolves concede the Federation Cup crown to Enyimba as it ended 5-4 after both sides played an entertaining 2-2 during the regulation time.

**Jonathan’s agents carried out two bombings **Diezani called me 20 times to be made minister – Henry Okah Detained leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, Mr. Henry Okah, has insisted that President Goodluck Jonathan’s agents sponsored the March 15, 2010 and October 1, 2010 bombings in Warri and Abuja respectively for political considerations. Okah made the allegation in a 194-paragraph affidavit deposed to in the South Gauteng High court in Johannesburg, South Africa in Case No: A570/10. The allegations first came to light in an interview Okah granted Arabic satellite television, Aljazeera, in October 2010, weeks after the blast. In the interview, he blamed the attacks on Jonathan’s aides and claimed he was arrested for refusing to influence MEND, to retract its claim of responsibility. Since then, Okah has been denied bail at least twice, with one at the South Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg, where he is filing a new application for bail based on “new facts.” The sw ...
Oshiomole on the conduct of controversial NGF election. “35 people went into a room and they were saying let us be reasonable, the world is watching us. One by one they were sermonised like very seasoned pentecostal pastors. “We had some who said we must do open ballot. I said how can you do open ballot when you are already fighting before the ballot. Let us do secret ballot because we are products of secret ballots. Why are we now afraid to do it? “There should be one governor, one vote. Then, 35 now voted and my twin brother from Delta State became the agent of the two candidates and he stood by the Director-General, who was unanimously appointed a month earlier. “They counted 35 papers. So one by one in the open and in an open secret ballot we voted, and counted the votes. They were 35, representing the 35 state governors present. When they were counting, Jang, Jang, Jang, the Niger State Governor said ‘Jang in early lead’. “After then, they started counting Amaechi, Amaechi, Amaechi and ...
That simple. There goes a responsible leader who understands the struggles of his countrymen. He has gone the extra-mile to ensure he sustains the source of livelihood of commercial motorcycle operators in his country irrespective of their place on the rungs of the social ladder. Asking commercial motorcycle operators popularly known as okada to find alternative means of livelihood is the height of insensitivity by Nigerian state governors to the plight of compatriots. If there were better options they wouldn’t be riding bikes in the first place. Okada restriction in some parts of Lagos and Delta states in recent months have now berthed in Edo. Governor Adams Oshiomhole upon his re-election reiterated that there was no plan to ban Okada; “It is a class issue and I belong to the working class, so I cannot ban Okada. First, I believe that okada is a response to certain deficit in our intra-urban transportation system”. But on 11 June, 2013, all of that changed when the State Government announced that ...
**2015 ELECTION!** Accept defeat, Niger Delta group tells presidency The Niger Delta Civil Society Coalition (NDCSC) has condemned what it called “the impunity and show of power in Rivers State” by the leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the face-off between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi. It also asked the Presidency and the governors to respect the outcome of the duly-conducted election of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), where Amaechi was re-elected as... Let's go there!!!
If I were a 'babalawo', 'dibia' or 'marabout', this time that power-hungry politicians are desperately seeking predatory public offices, I would divine for any of them that consults me thus: 1,000 cows, 300 baskets of tomatoes, 100 baskets of pepper, 50 bags of onions, 20 bags of salt, 100 packs of maggi! Then, £10m for the 'rigging incubus'! Lol! I am sure they could do anything, no matter how ridiculous and demeaning, including human sacrifice, to get public offices, for selfish reasons and personal aggrandizement! True leadership is very scarce in Nigeria! What we have in abundance are demagogues and despots seeking power for its own sake, not for masses' benefits!
OPEN LETTER TO ANIOMA PEOPLE Dear Compatroits I make this representation with all sense of patrotism and unalloyed support for the Anioma cause through a most objective apparatus. Let me start by congratulating the Anioma Nation for the level of awareness created thus far, as we approach our date with fate come 2015. I note with happiness, the level of support within and outside Anioma, this is most encouraging as Anioma Nation is in dire need of the enthronement of equity, fairness and justice in our political theatre. I will also congratulate Anioma Voice on their recent official registration and many other groups working towards the emergence of a governor of Anioma extraction. I make bold to say that history will always remain kind to you. This letter is also to serve as a wake-up call to Anioma youth and to enthrench in their minds the need to stand in total solidarity for a governor of Anioma extracation in 2015, in the overall interest of our tomorrow. I note also that the challenges of a united An ...
It appeared Oga El-Rufai has bitten more than he can chew. No doubt he would spend most his time this days writing rejoinders. El-Rufai and His Accidental Discharge By Ikedi Ohakim It is on record that since I left office, I have refused to join issues with anybody in spite of several falsehood peddled about me. Honestly, I never wanted to react to issues raised by Mallam Nassir El-Rufai about me in his book, “The Accidental Public Servant”. This was especially as I never took a second look at the book, on account of its poor print quality anda rather pedestrian title. But inundated with a barrage of calls from both within and outside the country, I had to reluctantly but painstakingly go through the book. Mark Twain may have had El-Rufai in mind when he wrote: “From the moment I picked up your book until the moment I put it down, I could not stop laughing.” That was the same frame of mind I found myself in after reading El-Rufai’s “The Accidental Public Servant”. I considered it in the pu . ...

I finished eating and went to bed. Oh I ve to reduce d speed of this fan,d voltage is so high. I woke up very early in the morning to the sound of gospel music. I casually strolled into the bathroom. Oh! The cold is too much this morning, i turned on the hot water tap. While towelling myself dry, I turned on the radio and heard the presenter speaking of how Nigeria is now one of the most developed countries in the world and how the Nigerian president yesterday declared his asset and all he had to boast of was N20 million naira and a duplex in his village. I finished dressing up and took my time to eat. I had no reason to rush, afterall the road is always free and there are no potholes. I drove off laughing. In my workplace,i saw some people loitering in the waiting room and discovered they were here to be interviewed. While going home th ...
Those who criticise everything don't even know when they criticise themselves. Law making is different from executive functions where contracts are awarded and job creation planned and executed. My constituents elected me to influence laws, policies and programmes that will benefit my constituency in particular and Nigeria in general. This I am doing with diligent, tact and intelectual legal focus. It is also a truism that I am painstakingly committed to ensuring that dividend of democracy is extended adequately to my constituency subject to available resources from government in line with the President Jonathan's transformation agenda. I dare to say that the government of the day is making reasonable progress trying to transform what has been "cracked" in several decades. It is slower to build than to destroy. I believe strongly that there exist a paradym shift from the status quo to a progressive constitutional democracy in our fatherland. It is therefore a clarion call for all and sundry to deviate fr ...
The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Governors’ Forum and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, has revealed that the governors of the party have commenced a process of ensuring an out-of-court reconciliation with Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State who was suspended for anti-activities. It also emerged Friday that all positions to be contested for at the PDP special convention fixed for July 20 will be thrown open to all members of the party, although, the party’s zoning formula will still be maintained. Akpabio who spoke on the crisis rocking the party after its NEC meeting ended late Thursday said: "We are reconciling our governors; you will see this from the number of governors that attended the NEC meeting. Almost all the PDP governors were in attendance except those on official duty outside the country. "Reconciliation among the governors is already ongoing. The governor of Sokoto State was at the NEC meeting. I remember that journalists asked me about Governor Amaec ...

I am a god unto myself and to many others. By my name only will I swear. Not only will I swear my lord, I will speak the whole truth. In fact, when I finished swearing, this Mallam Nuhu and his misguided team of prosecutors will not know what hit them. Ijaw leader hails Uduaghan for extending micro-finance to Lagos The coordinator of IJAW Monitoring Group and former Publicity secretary of Ijaw National Congress Comrade Joseph EVAH has hailed the delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel UGUAGHAN for extending the state micro-finance scheme to Delta State indigenes in Lagos. Receiving the Delta State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation Dr. Mrs. Asedieu during the public presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries at Ajegunle in Lagos, the IJAW leader said “this is unbelievable, I made this request to the governor just two months ago to assist thousands of Deltans suffering in Lagos without hope and he brought this succour to his people. The governor has shown that his concern of his people goes beyond the people living in our homeland. We are grateful to God for giving the people of the state a listening governor” He thanked the micro-finance team led by Dr. Asedieu for protecting the scheme with all their strength making it a reference point at the Unite ...

100 WISE MEN FROM DELTA NORTH-ika weekly The Holy Bible tells us that when God wanted to save the Israelites from the grips of Egyptians, He chose the least expected person, Moses. When He wanted to save His people from famine, He went to a dungeon and brought Joseph. And when He wanted to give Israel an astute, transparent and purposeful leadership, He went to the bush and picked David. That is the hand of God. The last six months of the year had been rather eventful, so much to write on. If I wanted to go to Ughelli, perhaps one would have loved to flog the dead issue of the Council Secretary and its Transition Chairman over SURE-P fund of which some of the Local Government Areas in Delta State have started distributing their dis(empowerment) items without being transparently accountable. Good governance is a virtue and achievable through the application of Logos and Nomos. It is trite to say that it forms the basis of the legendry SOCIAL CONTRACT. The 7th Session of the National Assembly has been proactive and working with other major stakeholders to bring uncommon transformation in all spheres of our national life. With the support of all citizens, good governance is on-going and working.
Buhari my foot, he is part of Nigeria's problems, was he not a head of state before? What did he do? What did he achieve? He looted public funds also right? IBB recently accused him of corruption, he kept mute, he did not refute IBB's allegation, what we need in this country is a revolution, confederation of states and a sovereign national conferrence

Tax Evasion would reduce if there are evidences that Government Officials, both Civil Servants and Politicians are accountable, honest and play less on being masters. If our federalism is not limited to paper, the Government Officials would be compelled to do the above. But when we all still solely rely on Niger Delta to spoon feed all states of the federation and the entire country continue to live on them, it would remain a dream to expect accountability from Government Officials. As far as "manna" keeps coming from Niger Delta through Abuja, a State Governor may choose to ignore construction of access roads to rural areas and to the farms as against relying on tractors or donkeys or locally manufactured canoes (as the case may be) to have access to some villages at the peak of rainy season but instead build Airport that his people don't need. In Nigeria we have a lot of Airports that cannot sustain itself but rely solely on Government subventions. Can we be ever serious? As far as the Federal Governm . ...

. Imo speaker, 2 others walk a political tight-rope Politicians are unpredictable. Ekwueme, which is one of the names of former Vice President Dr. Alex Ekwueme means in Igbo parlance one who walks his talk. But do politicians walk their talk? Do they keep their promises? Are their words their bonds? Are they not truce breakers? President Goodluck Jonathan is currently under fire for attempting to spurn the one-tenure agreement he purportedly reached with the Northerners before his election in 2011. Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is presently being reminded to abide by the one-tenure contract he entered into with the Imo people before they massed behind him in the last general polls. Though neither of them had publicly said he was going to seek a second term, their body movements suggest that they might seek fresh mandates in 2015. However while their beach of agreement may not be viewed with much seriousness, what do you make of the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Benjamin Uwajum ...

Jonathan rejects amnesty calls for Boko Haram President Goodluck Jonathan visiting the region at the heart of an Islamist insurgency for the first time since he was elected in 2011, on Thursday rebuffed calls for an amnesty deal for the extremists. President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit came amid mounting political pressure for him to travel to the region and followed calls this week from Nigeria’s top Islamic figure for an amnesty deal for insurgents. MAKU: THE PIED PIPER OF HAMMELIN What on God’s green earth is a ‘Good Governance Tour’? Sounds like something right out of the classic, “Alice in Wonderland.” Actually Alice was on some kind of good governance tour in Wonderland and then she met the folks she did. But then Nigeria is not Wonderland, or is it? Oh yeah! Pardon my ignorance, but sincerely from the days of Socrates until now the realms of democracy have never heard of any such thing as a good governance tour embarked upon by a Minster of Information with a motley crowd of journalists and civil right groups. Not even in the United States, the world-acclaimed bastion of democracy, has it been heard of. So what exactly is it? Well to put it mildly, some “evil geniuses” (my sincere apologies to Ibrahim Babangida) in Abuja thought up a scheme to line some pockets (not necessarily their own, but some pockets all the same) in the name of conducting a tour of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A tour with no known objective, except sight- ...
PLEASE READ MY RESPONSE TO THE NIGERIA'S SENATE ARGUMENTS BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH ON PETROLEUM INDUSTRY BILL (PIB) BELOW. THANKS.     The cheating and suffering will never end if Niger deltans sit and think god and prayer will change anything. Only honest and serious people's revolution like Ogoni MOSOP of 1993 will change the region's predicament. These elements of god and prayer have no bearing being a mere state of mind, thus will change nothing. The North has majority in the national assembly. Should they proceed in this spirit the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) will not pass. There is nothing anyone can do-except the people who feel cheated and oppressed start a revolution which may take work, money and blood. Or the whole South-South lawmakers, i.e., from core West or Yoruba and core East or Igbo (though they have been and remains part of the oppressors) will come together, which I doubt.   Meanwhile, what works in today's world, I've continue to say is politics, which is a ...
No amnesty for Boko Haram – Jonathan By Daily Post Staff on March 7, 2013 0 President Goodluck Jonathan has said that as the president of Nigeria, he has never and would never treat any part or section of the country with sentiments. President Jonathan stated this at the Wawa hall of the Yobe Government House while addressing stakeholders during his official visit to the state on Thursday. He said he had read in the papers and heard many stories surrounding his failure to show up in both Borno and Yobe states since the Boko Haram menace began about four years ago. According to the president, what the people should understand is that, whatever happens in any part of Nigeria affects the entire country since people and indigenes of other states are found in all parts of the states, hence the crisis in Borno has been of great national concern. He said the allegation from some quarters that he now treats other sections of the country with sentiments is a wrong assumption, adding that, terrorism wherever it h ...

POLITICALIZATION OF EDUCATION: A DANGEROUS OMEN TO IMO STATE’S EDUCATION STATUS. Imo State is in danger of losing its enviable position as the leader in the education industry. As far back as thirty years ago, the great Late Dee Sam Mbakwe proclaimed that education is a thriving industry in Imo State. For some years now, Imo State has registered the highest number of indigenes seating for West African School Certificate Exams and the highest number of new admissions into tertiary institutions in the country. Imo State has achieved all the above without politicians politicalizing the education industry. But sadly, these achievements may soon be a thing of the past due to the politicalization of the Imo Education Industry that is the Engine room for all these achievements. All these accomplishments and achievements could not have been made possible if there was not a level playing field in form of a Law on education both under Federal Government and State Government. Laws are made for protection of a ...

FIERY Lagos Lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo is disturbed by what he perceives as the slow pace of development in his native Delta State and has established a group, Delta Forces United, DFU, to rally the grassroots for a change, which he says he is willing to champion as governor. In this interview, he speaks on the politics of Delta State and why he is leaving the comfort zone for the murky waters of politics. Excerpts: What motivated you to establish Delta Forces United? Festus-Keyamo Well my motivation is not far-fetched. I am a freeborn of DeltaState. My early life was all about DeltaState. My childhood classmates, friends, acquaintances and even childhood antagonists are all from DeltaState. I have my early impressions of how DeltaState was. I also grew up full of ideas as to how to improve my state. Even though I hail from Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, I was born in a crowded compound (what we call today, face-me-I-face-you) along Post Office Road in Ughelli. TRIBUTE- Celestine Omehia In The Eyes of External Assessors: Receives More Int'l Awards Former Governor Celestine Omehia was recently honoured with the African Achievers Award by the institute of Leadership and Management, Abuja in partnership with Kenya based Achievers media. The conferment of the Award took place in Nairobi, Kenya. The key reason according to the awarding institute for bestowing such honour on Sir Omehia is his role in the return of peace to the erstwhile volatile Niger Delta region of Nigeria, in particular, and with an attendant benefit to the entire Nation. While he was in office as the executive governor of Rivers State, Nigeria, he pioneered the 'Carrot and Stick Model' on Amnesty and rehabilitation of repentant militants in Rivers State. The successes achieved as a result of his pioneering approach to the Niger Delta Militants conflict, led to the adoption and expansion of the same approach to conflict resolution by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the entire Niger-Delta reg ...
Bayelsa State is gradually wearing a new look following the Emergence of Governor Seriake Dickson with his Restoration Agenda. Youths from the various Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State are also gradually keying into the Restoration Agenda.   Gone are the days when the Niger Delta and indeed Bayelsa State was characterised  by youth restiveness, militancy and other social vices. The Youths of today are more than ever before determined to take their destinies in their hands to ensure a brighter futiure.   Similarly, the estwhile begging culture of Bayelsa Youths which got to a height at the inception of democracy in 1999 is no longer in vogue. Most of these "I am loyal" youths have come to realise the relevance of the Bibilical saying that there is no foiod for a lazy man.   The Slogan "I am loyal and committed" often used by Youths to curry favour from political victims is equally disappearing from the political scene, giving way for a thorough breed of serious and determined youth.   Perhaps this ...
Dear Mr Abubakar Shekau, It is unusual to write you this short letter which i find it necessary. I have been following your group's violent campaign especially in Yobe and Borno state. I observed that most of the casualties are people of humble background. And in most cases you personally take responsibility and affirm that you are fighting the government. My dear Shekau, here is an opportunity to prove to the oppressed masses that you are actually figting the government; The Number one person in the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is visiting your stronghold today and tomorrow, we all expect your suicide bombers to prove to us that you are not fighting the common man. If that could not be achieve in this two days, we will all agree that you and your group are cowards aimed at frustrating and shedding the blood of the masses. Finally, i pray for the end of this violent arm struggle of your group. May the souls of all that lost their lives rest in peace. Yours in t ...
2015: NOA SEEKS PARTICIPATION OF MORE WOMEN IN POLITICS. Ahead of the 2015 general election, the national orientation Agency (NOA) has advocated for the participation of more women in the politics of the country to ensure a more stable country. The Agency made this call while staging a National workshop on Promoting Women Political Empowerment, for Peace and Security in Nigeria which held in Asaba, delta state Director General of NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri regretted dismal performance of women in politics in recent time, saying that it is on this note that NOA deemed it fit at this "auspicious time" in the history of our democracy to organize this national workshop aimed at creating "much needed awareness to promote women participation." "Nigeria is blessed with brilliant, resourceful intelligent women. Therefore, the nations needs your wealth of knowledge and experience to further consolidate and sustain our democracy," Omeri said. SHOR MBAISE: OFTEN CRITICIZED BUT MOSTLY CELEBRATED. LOOK AT THIS. Mbaise is an amalgam of indigenous, autochthonous clans, connected by intermarriage, and situated in the heartland of Igboland. It occupies an approximate area of 404 square kilometers. The quiddity of Mbaise is that this homogenous group of more than 1000 persons per square kilometer is the most densely populated area in West Africa. The population of Mbaise as at 2006 was estimated to be 611,204 people (Agulanna, 2008). Until the advent of European adventurers into Nigeria, the main source of income in Mbaise was subsistent agriculture. In Igboland, no centralized political system existed. The system of government depended largely on kinship relations and shared custom. The village group was the highest level of socio-political organization with the “Amala” exercising all power (Njoku 2003). The weekly gathering of the male family members around the fresh palm wine keg (“awuru-awu” or “manya-orie”) constituted the forum for . ...

Children’s Premature Deaths Likely Rising In Delta State Due To Absence Of Pediatricians By SaharaReporters, New York Critics are blaming the Delta State Government for what they described as a rise in the rate at which premature children are dying. Specifically, these critics say Delta State failed to employ pediatricians to run incubators recently donated to hospitals in the state. “Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has a free maternal healthcare scheme, but too many prematurely born children continue to die, especially in Isoko South and North local government areas of the state,” said one source, a medical doctor. The doctor decried Mr. Uduaghan’s reluctance to hire pediatricians to operate incubators donated in 2012 to the Oleh and Ozoro government central hospitals in the state. Several nurses at the two government-owned hospitals confirmed that premature births often resulted in death. “There has never been a time the State Government provided incubators in these central hospitals,” said one n ...

All governors approved “good governance” tour, Uduaghan tells Adams Oshiomhole The Delta Governor has faulted a recent claim of ignorance by Mr. Oshiomhole about the good governance tour. Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has offered an apparent rebuttal of his Edo State counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole’s remark denouncing Federal Government’s “good governance tour”, insisting the controversial exercise received the backing of all 36 state governors. The tour is led by the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who is travelling with a delegation of officials, journalists and civil groups to all states, purportedly, to highlight projects achieved by the federal and State Governments. The delegation has covered more than 15 states, and the visitations continue in what critics have dismissed as a jamboree. Mr. Oshiomhole took the spotlight on Tuesday after he claimed to have rejected Mr. Maku’s proposal to support about 120 people visiting his state with the feeding, logistics and hotel ac ...

Delta.the people and government, some of us believe that one day the wrath of God shall fall on all those that miss led the governor to waste the hard earn resource of the state from 2007 till date. With the determination and re-awarding the the contract of arade ozoro ughelli road to C C C shows that. the governor can distinguish between good and bad otherwise some of us are already asking God while he choose to punish delta with Governor of this class. But the question begging for answer is that while did it take this long for the governor to realize that all the beautiful policy initiated by him failed, this is not a matter for sycophants to defend but a matter that call for real attention because this thing are there for us to see ,starting from agriculture, instead of improving on Songhai delta and supporting farmers with seedling farm equipments and fish and animal feed he decided to establish new farm structure all over the place in a state with a lot of agricultural facilities are begging for man ...

I WEEP FOR IMO STATE AND GOV. ROCHAS 23/1/13 Happy and Prosperous New 2013. I did not want to start the year 2013 with weeping. But since the New Year 1/1/13 broadcast of our Gov. Rochas, I have been weeping for Imo People and for him Rochas. 23/1/13 was the date I wrote but could not type it till 19/2/13 and posting it today 20/2/13. In Bible days, Jeremiah was called the weeping Prophet. In Nigerian politics of recent past, late Nde Sam Mbakwe, Ph.D, was the weeping Governor. Jeremiah wept for the sinfulness of Israel and the exile punishment that followed. Nde Sam wept because of Aba disaster of that time, nowhere near the recent national flood disasters. Even in MUSIC, Bright Chimezie, Okoro Jnr. Of Zigima fame, sang that ”if you see me crying (weeping) stop and listen” in Oyibo Mentality. So Engr. Cele, why are you weeping? Before that, recall when I wrote of Gov. Rochas’ Presidential ambition and advised him to concentrate and perform better in his current position as Governor of Imo State. No ...
BREAKING NEWS Vanguard Pirates kidnap six foreigners in Bayelsa On February 20, 2013 · In News 3:58 pm Pirates kidnap six foreigners in Bayelsa LAGOS (AFP) – Armed pirates who stormed an oil service ship off Nigeria have kidnapped six foreigners and demanded a $1.3 million ransom for their release, the police and military told AFP Wednesday. “Three of those abducted are from Ukraine, two from India, one from Russia,” Bayelsa State police spokesman Fidelis Odunna said of the Sunday attack. “One of the kidnappers called to demand the sum of 200 million naira” (one million euros, $1.3 million), he added. The kidnapping of foreign oil workers is common in Nigeria’s oil-rich south, with the hostages often released following a ransom payment. It is however rare for police to discuss the details of ransom demands. There has also been a recent series of kidnappings in northern Nigeria claimed by an extremist Islamist group, but those are considered a different phenomenon. The Armada Tuah vessel opera ...
