New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against Punjab Technical University (PTU) on the order of a trial court for allegedly admitting students for distance learning programmes without necessary approval from Distance Education Council. A case of violation of the section 144 is going on against Arvind Kejriwal and his other colleagues/members of AAP. A case should also be filed against the Delhi Police for misusing this section to curtail the freedom of peaceful protest. In the matter, the decision/ observations of SC/HC against the police for invoking this section at India Gate against the peaceful protesters against the gang rape of Damini are important. Arvind and his colleagues have rightly refused to furnish the bail bonds though the Court was ready for this, rather preferring going to jail as they felt that peaceful protest is their democratic right.
