Deep Purple

Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although some band members claimed that their music cannot be categorised as belonging to any one genre.

On the choo-choo heading towards Philly and work. Haven't listened to Deep Purple in a while. I forgot how good these guys are. Reminds me of just how little musicianship is left in popular music today. Sad... Yay, Friday; but bo cause I have to work this weekend. Sitting in the first car looking out the front window. Kinda feels like I'm driving this puppy. Cool. I am not a fan of the following teams or people: Yankees, Sergio Garcia, Manchester United, John Boehner, Drew Barrymore, Penn or Teller, Oakland Raiders, Stephen King, Scrappy Doo, Herman Melville, and Joe Isuzu. This is a partial list. I don't much care for tripe either. This non-sequitur moment with John was sponsored by Lemon Pledge, The Arthur Vining Davis Foundation, the letter Q, and viewers like you. You may all now return to whatever you were doing before I wasted 30 seconds of your day. Peace!
Listening to Deep Purple's Machine Head Album. Janis Joplin's Cheap thrills up next... Feelin like some Ball and Chain!

Deep Purple Pays Homage to Classic Horror Films in Video for New Tune "Vincent Price" Deep Purple has debuted a campy and creepy new promotional video for "Vincent Price," the last track on the band's recently released studio album, Now What?! The clip follows the adventures of an attractive young couple who enter a haunted-house attraction only to find themselves transported into an actual black-and-white horror movie. Interspersed with segments of Deep Purple rocking out in the spooky mansion, the video shows the young man and woman being terrorized by a vampire, the Frankenstein monster and a mummy. During their ordeal, the guy himself gets wrapped up in mummy's bandages, while his lady friend winds up transforming into a sexy stripper donning a very scanty outfit along with part of a nun's habit. As for the band members, they don't escape unscathed, winding up as wax statues. "Vincent Price" will be released as the latest single from Now What?! on June 7. It will be available for purchase as a lim ...

Taking their name from one of the darker tracks of the Deep Purple catalog, Demon Eye is the alter ego of Raleigh NC’s deep cut ‘70s tribute, Corvette Summer. Four men, two New Yorkers, two Southerners, and one shared love for old school metal. Demon Eye’s heavy grooves and thunder rhythms channel the doom and crush of Black Sabbath and Pentagram, and the fist banging shred of early ‘Maiden.

ANSWER: Deep Purple. Pigeon-holed as "metal" by hits like "Smoke On The Water", fans of Deep Purple know them to be an awesome deep blues/jazz band. Still actively touring nearly all original band members, Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice, the only missing "original" is Ritchie Blackmore. Go figure. Steve Morse now fill in at that spot. On March 23, 2011, they played then-Russian President Medevedv's private birthday party before performing in Moscow that evening. STILL playing, STILL touring, STILL recording!! I readily admit that my musical tastes swing and vary wildly. Often veering for no apparent reason. It runs the gamut of "Please Honey. Listen to this with me." which is what I beg of my wife, all the way to my 'HEY. DON'T YOU *** JUDGE ME!!!" cry to my co-workers. Right now I am very much enjoying the new music Deep Purple recently released. I've not really given a hoot or a twit about new Deep Purple product since 1994's PURPENDICULAR, which was the first album the band recorded with Steve Morse following Ritchie’s Resignation from the band. There were a couple of nice pieces, but nothing uber-exciting compelled me to stand on picnic tables the park playing air guitar and full volume while mothers scurry their children away, 911 operators are dialed and the hipster teens use iPhones to post viral videos of the middle-aged white guy humiliating himself in public. This time is different though. I bought the new DP CD and have thoroughly enjoyed every track. They pay homage to their past without moc ...

Worldstock was born as a result of comments regarding our Sacred Obligation to use our talent to do good in the world, made by former Trapeze/Deep Purple bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes at a session of Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp held in Cleveland in 2008 that I was "Blessed" enough to be able to attend ! After that we were further blessed to connect with such industry luminaries as Artie Kornfeld , Angie Bowie,Miss Bonnie Bramlett & her wonderful daughters Bekka Bramlett,Michele Bramlett & Suzanne Bramlett & fellow Poor Elijah Foundation friend Maria Angel Schaefer,Miss Pamela Des Barres & Roni Viloria Stroud of Groupie Couture , Essra Mohawk , Melanie Safka & her talented lovely daughter Jeordie Schekeryk among others ! We hope you'll "like" our page , share it with your friends & support our mission & the many causes we as a company support & help promote without regard to financial gain !
Of course it's Glenn Hughes (known from Deep Purple, Black Country Communion etc.) on the vocals not Goeff Nicholls Black Sabbath's keyboardist.

So, let’s feel the spinning of the Merkabah vehicle, it spins in a clockwise manner and we’re going to bring in some frequency that’s going to assist in this process. (Chanting) Just feel the frequencies of Light, feel the higher levels coming to you in all the essences. Feel that blending within you ...

Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers This is one of my favorite songs by them.
The terms Hard rock and Heavy metal were used in the same places, for example you could say that Aerosmith, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple are Hard rock or Heavy metal, and both terms would be correct, but with the fame of the NWOBHM(New Wave of British Heavy Metal) Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Motorhead, and Judas Priest among other obscure British bands put the line between Hard rock and Heavy metal, you could call Motorhead and Diamond HeadRock n' roll or Speed metal, andboth terms would be right, but you couldn't call Iron Maiden anything but Heavy metal. Then Glam metal came with pop influences, soNWOBHM bands tried to oppose this by playing faster and heavier, this resulted in American Thrash metal/ Speed metal mainly influenced by Motorhead, Tygers of Pan Tang, and Iron Maiden. The first band to ever play Heavy metal was Black Sabbath, the first band to play Speed metal was either Deep Purple, orQueen, or Judas Priest. The first band to lay the foundation of Thrash metal is defi ...

About 16 years ago I bought my son, Shavit, a red Fender Stratocaster when he was 10 years old. His first real song that he could play on the guitar was Smoke on The Water by Deep Purple which for me was really cool being that it was a song I grew up listening to in my youth. Tonight, (actually right now in Singapore) he is going to see Deep Purple in concert, thus closing a 16 year circle of musical development which started with DP and has seen him go through metal, rock, jazz and currently Flamenco.

It's s great month of music here in Singapore, mates! Gilbert O'Sullivan was great tonight at The Esplanade Concert Hall. Tomorrow night, I'll see my old friends, Deep Purple, here again Live at the new Star Vista Centre For Performing Arts! They're gonna open up n explode with Fireball . explosive drum solo intro to start off the song by ol' Ian Paice! And next Tuesday night, I'll watch Journey performing here in Singapore for the first time at The Singapore Indoor Stadium! Great way to get myself all psyched up n ready for my own big gig at The Esplanade Concert Recital Studio on May 6 with Singapore 60s/70s Pop Icon, William David n his band, performing two nostalgic CLIFF RICHARD Tribute Shows!

So, guess I'm taking my vrou to Sun City for a romantic R'n'R weekend soon.. "the Guns N’ Roses line-up of Matt Sorum, Gilby Clarke, Duff McKagan and Slash is heading for South Africa in the form of an all-star supergroup called Kings of Chaos. The other half of the group comprises Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliot and Vivian Campbell, and Collective Soul’s Ed Roland. Completing the line-up is Glenn Hughes from Black Country Communion and Deep Purple. Kings of Chaos will play the Sun City Superbowl on June 15 and 16. The brainchild behind the band is Sorum, the power drummer of bands like Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver and The Cult. He asked a few of his close friends to form a band and tour the world playing each other’s big hits.." Lekker!
A new super band called Kings of Chaos is coming to SA. It's made up of members from Guns 'n Roses, Deep Purple, Def Leppard, Skid Row and more.
Ok So I play in a Blues band...or two. Came home last night night after 2 weeks of rehearsals and 3 shows and just wanted to veg. So I goes to the Netflix and I find a "Yes" concert. But as I said I play blues but the bands of my youth were the progressive British bands of the 60's and 70's. ELP, Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Cream, Robin Trower, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, King Crimson and of Course Led Zeppelin. Needless to say I have been listening to YES all day. The Brits sure new what the *** they were doing.and those 3 boys from Canada too.So if you're old.like me.pass this stuff on to the next generation so it's not forgotten.
Spent this rainy afternoon jamming and mutating some new tunes. Coming soon, "Wild Cherry Panther", 2 Bill Withers classics in 1, Deep Purple gets a Fever, our take on 'Message In A Bottle', and another Chameleon original called "Pacifica". Don't miss our next gig, Fourth Friday at the Precinct on March 22nd!
I've settled on the tunes for the 30 minutes I get tomorrow on WWSU radio. It was hard to narrow it down to these seven songs, but I'll be playing tunes by Black Sabbath, Bad Company, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Jefferson Starship, Led Zeppelin, and Grand Funk Railroad.

Incredible. Great cover. Good thing that James has not raced with vocals of Gillan, he sang like he sang, respect. Hammett solo appeared to me more interesting than Blackmore's. You can see that the guys really came to the matter seriously and have respect for Deep Purple. : D Great stuff! and disc...
Well, I just bought us some Rod Stewart tickets this morning. The four concerts we are definitely doing this summer in England are ZZ Top, The Who, Carlos Santana, and Rod Stewart. Still looking at maybe Roger Waters The Wall (saw The Wall in Atlanta- awesome), Deep Purple, Elton John (seen), Eric Clapton (seen), Fleetwood Mac (seen), Joe Cocker, Joe Satriani, Johnny Winters (for all you PNG grads and SE Texicans), Meat Loaf, Neil Young, and Peter Gabriel. There are officially 861 "rock" concerts in England this year accoring to the World Wide Web, and there are just too many concerts and not enough time!! I've been to about 110 rock concerts, and ironically enough Alvin Lee died this week. Alvin Lee and Ten Years After was my first rock concert in 1972. My goal is to be 85 and still "cranking it up to 11"!
Joining me this week in the Chop Shop Classic is Tommy Shaw from Styx. We will also have music from Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, Journey, Van Halen and Jeff Beck will pay tribute to Elvis in the Founding Fathers. Our All-Star Salute will focus on The Edge from U2, and I will answer the challenge to connect Joe Walsh to Deep Purple in 6 moves or less.
"I saw Deep Purple live once and I paid money for it and I thought, 'Geez, this is ridiculous.' You just see through all that sort of stuff. I never liked those Deep Purples or those sort of things. I always hated it. I always thought it was a poor man's Led Zeppelin." Angus Young
I will be there too David. I first saw Deep Purple in Feb 1973 at the Rainbow Theatre, London aged just 14.
Time for a 3 am workout blast. Shovel.then weights.Metal Church and Deep Purple will do it to it!!
I'm really very sad, shocked and incredulous for the sudden death of the legendary rock guitarist Alvin Lee of the famous English blues-rock group Ten Years After. I began to apreciate Alvin Lee and his historical band in 1967, at the age of 10 years, listening to the radio RAI DUE in Italy a program of two hours each day that played just rock music, classical rock, progressive, psychedelic, space and symphonic rock, hard rock, blues, country, soul, ambient, fusion and smooth jazz. I loved a lot of the album of Ten Years After thanks to the beautiful lead guitar solos by Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, extraordinarily fast in his performances during the guitar solos. Honestly Ten Years After in 1967 were part of my favorite bands, but compared to them, I preferred immensely The Nice, Pink Floyd, Focus, Ekseption, Eloy, Procol Harum, King Crimson, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Traffic, Yardbirds , Vanilla Fudge, The Byrds, The Animals with Eric Burdon, The Small Faces, The Hollies, Cream, The Who, Deep Purple, T ...

This was the best Deep Purple line up ever imo, young David Coverdale on vocals and young Glenn Hughes on the bass...they were unbelievable at theat time, the live "Made in Europe" still moves me until today, still one of the best live records in rock...
No Ritchie Blackmore for the Deep Purple gigs later in the year? Is that right?

I'm at a place called Toasteria in Zhongxiao Dunhua. Besides the fact that the food is good, the music they are playing here is totally on point. Stones. Zep. Deep Purple. A little Otis Redding ("Sittin On the Dock of the Bay"). Grant Smyth, you get a significant amount of cool points for recommending this place.

Album of the Day: Trapeze –High Flyers the Best of Trapeze 1970-1974 Some parts Dirty, Soulful, Melodic, Funky all parts Bluesy and Mel Galley lays out some kick *** guitar and Glenn Hughes what a voice. While the bands they moved on to are far better known Trapeze was a good band in their own right. Glenn Hughes of course moving on to Deep Purple, and Mel Galley later to Whitesnake, while Dave Holland moved to Judas Priest then later to jail. My Pick 3: “Send Me No More Letters” –nice soulful pop tune “You Are the Music” –funky, bluesy and Mel Gallery rips off some killer guitar throughout “Will Our Love End” –I could of went a few ways here “Medusa” the dirty nasty evil hard riffin tune, “Coast to Coast” soulful melodic but the deciding factor for me was Galley’s beautiful guitar solo. So there. Track listing 1. Send Me No More Letters 2. Your Love Is Alright 3. Black Cloud 4. Medusa 5. Coast To Coast 6. Will Our Love End 7. You Are The Music 8. Good Love 9. Dat's It 10. Se ...

Does anyone want a bunch of hair colouring stuff? I was going to do it one more time, but then didn't. The kit I have is a deep burgundy (Deep Purple) colour and there is a bit of red colour, a bit of blue colour enhancer and a lot of developer. There is also a jar mostly full of Manic Panic blue.

R.I.P., Bob Colliver. I bought my very first album at his store, The Rock Rack, when I was in 3rd grade. In case you are wondering, it was Donny and Marie's "Deep Purple." For those who have lived and still live in Sitka, he was a big part of our lives. Thank you, Bob! Heaven got a good one today.

Deep Purple have finally confirmed the title of their 19th studio album – it’s called Now What?! and it’s set for release on April 29. The band had spent recent weeks teasing fans over the title, referring to is simply as “?!” and refusing to reveal any further details. The first single, a double-A release featuring tracks entitled *** To Pay and All The Time In The World, will appear on March 29. Meanwhile, former Purple member Glenn Hughes has recalled how the band kept watch on him for a year before inviting him to join. He left Trapeze to become part of the Mark III lineup alongside David Coverdale in 1973, and faced some opposition from fans for introducing more American influences to their music. Hughes tells Music Radar: “Everyone knows I’m not Roger Glover. I can sing and he doesn’t sing, and Roger is a completely different bass player to me. He basically follows the riffs, whereas I found those ‘holes’. It wasn’t funky in Deep Purple – it was more groove-orientated. The w ...

Thank you America too. S nakecharmer Hits Their Target February 20, 2013 By Tony Conley Format:Audio CDSnakecharmer is an excellent album by any measure. The songs snap to attention, Chris Ousey sings his *** off, guitarists *** Moody and Laurie Wisefield sound even better than you'd guess, you suddenly realize how much of Whitesnake's signature sound came from Neil Murray's bass, Adam Wakeman sounds much closer to the Lord than his pop, and Harry James hits the traps with a commanding, cozy beat. In fact, this record is going to turn tons of heads and put plenty *** into seats when the band hits the road. The band's veteran players have great resumes - *** Moody and Neil Murray were at the creation of one of hard rock's finest ever moments, the original Whitesnake. Chosen by David Coverdale while the singer was still twirling the mic stand for Deep Purple, the pair with them brought enough blues rock bluster to keep comparisons to Coverdale's purple past to a minimum and allowed Whitesnake to be it ...

It was go time to go to the garage and tinker with the mopar. Everyone else is latest sound systems in their cars not me it’s a 8 track. I can remember the days when we would cruise down town or take a run out to the beach with the 8 track tape deck playing all the favorites, like Bob Seger’s - Old Time Rock and Roll, Twist and Shout by the Beatles, Little Deuce Coupe by the Beachboys, Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple or Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress by the Hollies. Then I hear a familiar sound and in the drive came my friends 442. Hi Mortimer what’s happening? Just came over to get better look at your car. He said. What do you have here an old 8 track tape system wow now that is vintage? Said my friend. I didn’t even know a squirrel would know what an 8 track looked like. Well Mortimer it is what’s under the hood that matters. I replied. That is to real reason I stopped Mortimer said, I want to race your mopar. I have a quarter mile marked off a couple miles north, on a very quite road, Off ...
'In my humble opinion' (opening myself up to much abuse and ridicule) The Sex Pistols were never "Good". They couldn't play, write songs or attack social and musical conformity without generous endorsements and the talents of the established musical scene. Their music road the bandwagon of genuine musicians plying the Punk genre and capturing a moment in social discontent. Appreciation at the time could be traced to a misconception that they were bucking the current trend, and current appreciation derives from both nostalgia and new, young discontent. My beef is not with Punk (though it's not to my taste) but with the Sex Pistols as a 'band' and 'musical landmark'. Give me anything from Screamo, through the zombie corpses of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, all the way down to the *** of Miley Cyrus, but keep the Sex Pistols away from me. I now invite your differing opinions, complaints, abuse and letter bombs!
Journey & Deep Purple tonight - it'll be awesome! I've been a Journey fan for years.

Early childhood experience and education is so important. What music was part of your childhood, say, before you could choose your own? Before the age of 10 or so? What did you hear via parents or siblings that you feel still impacts you? My parents listened to a lot of music. Out of their record collection my favorites were Planet P - Project Pink World, Deep Purple - Made In Japan, ELP - Brain Salad Surgery, Yes - 90125 and Close To The Edge, and Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms. You can definitely see my prog tendencies started early.
Back in Palmy after an amazing few days away. Eventful weekend, Journey, Deep Purple, 2 different cars on same street corner yelling at us, 2 volcanos erupting, Pineapple and a cat named Dave. Thanks Daniel Lucas Craig Webb and Samuel Darling

YES, I agree with you Jimmy. I thought Joe sounded fantastic with his brief appearance playing for Deep Purple. They would have been great together.

Hi All! Have free tickets at BEC for Deep Purple tomorrow night!! Anyone interested needs to call, txt or FB message me ASAP!!! (Possibly 6 tix)!
Deep Purple and Journey at Vector Arena last night was a blast from the past. Journey's lead singer Arnel Pineda was a mighty showman. Just a wee chap from the Philipinnes taking over Steve Perry's role was an impressive achievement. Not one to stand still, he was jumping and twisting while engaging the punters at the front endlessly. With an assured vocal Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin hit the spot as did Open Arms. Original guitarist Neal Schon layed down an impressive array of tasty licks amidst assorted tones and sustain, driven by the unstoppable drumming of Deen Castronovo, relentless and powerhungry Journey were impressive. Deep Purple began its powerful set with Fireball and carried on via The Mule, Strange Kind of Woman and Space Trucking. Lead singer Ian Gillan proved why he deserves to be belting out the hits from his legendary past. His formidable vocal was in top form and even accentuating his high pitched screams with former Dixie Dreggs guitarist Steve Morse on Strange Kind of Woman. Bassist Rog ...
Unbelievable, these are just a few of the bands who aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame: Bad Company, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chicago, Deep Purple, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Electric Light Orchestra, Foghat, Guess Who, Kansas, Moody Blues, REO Speedwagon and Yes.
Excellent proto-doom/metal from this forgotten British five-piece band. LP produced by Ian Gillan of Deep Purple
It has been made official !! The Emilio Emilio Group, with Trinidads own Johnny Wells on drums & vocals, will be one of the headliner bands for this years 'Tommy Bolin Festival' Aug. 1-3, in the hometown where it all started, Sioux City Iowa. A Denver Colorado event with the Tommy Bolin Tribute Band, Johnnie Bolin of Black Oak Arkansas, Emilio Emilio Group, and featured artists yet to be announced, may precede the Iowa Bolinfest. As we all know, the late great legendary guitarist Tommy Bolin, was a leader of such groups as Colorado's own Zephyr and Energy, the James Gang, and Deep Purple ! His life was tragically cut short in 1976 at age 25, but his music lives on. Also watch for The Emilio Emilio Group in southern Colorado and the region, in the months to come.

The self-titled debut from Disturbed singer David Draiman's new band Device is due out April 9th and features a who's-who of hard rockers, including Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows, System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Halestorm singer Lzzy Hale, Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler and ex-Deep Purple bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes. Godsmack singer Sully Erna is taking some time to revisit one of his favorite hobbies -- playing poker. Erna told ESPN that after spending a few years away from the game, he's got the itch to start competing in tournaments again. Erna won nearly $18,000 in 2006 and $45,000 in 2007 at the World Series of Poker before bringing home $307,000 that same year at the Five-Diamond World Poker Classic.
