Ok pretty ladies, it is that time of year again...support of breast cancer awareness! So we all remember last year's game of writing your bra color as your status? Or the way we like to have our handbag handy? Last year, so many people took part that it made national news... and the constant updating of status reminded everyone why we're doing this and helped raise awareness! Do NOT tell any males what the statuses mean...keep them guessing!! And please copy and paste this in a message to all your female friends. The idea is to choose the month you were born and the day you were born. Pass this on to the GIRLS ONLY and let's see how far it reaches around. The last one about the bra went around all over the world. YOUR STATUS SHOULD SAY: "I am going to Mexico for 21 months." The month you were born is the Place you are going, and the day you were born should be how many months you are gone. January - Mexico February - London March - Miami April - Dominican Republic May - Paris, France June - Rome July - Ha ...

The Brindle Dogs Day One day there was a brindle dog who decided to stray away from home. This dog was no ordinary brindle dog it had always been wandering away and coming back. It thought that this day would be no different, but he was wrong. It all started when he got in an argument with other dogs about whether he should wander off or not. The main one said “you need to stop wandering off sooner or later you’re going to lose your collar doing something dumb then the pound will be after you”. The Brindle dog simply replied saying “every time I wander off I make sure not to lose my collar and I never have you should know this”. The others told him luck would eventually run out but he just wouldn’t listen to them. Not paying attention to the rest of the dogs continuing to tell him not to go for reasons he wandered back off into New York City. Once he got there he admired once more what the Big Apple had to offer. The skyscrapers busy streets filled with cars and pedestrians passing by n ...
THE LIFE AND DEATH OF KEVIN CARTER Visiting Sudan, a little-known photographer took a picture that made the world weep. What happened afterward is a tragedy of another sort. BY SCOTT MACLEOD/JOHANNESBURG The image presaged no celebration: a child barely alive, a vulture so eager for carrion. Yet the photograph that epitomized Sudan's famine would win Kevin Carter fame - and hopes for anchoring a career spent hounding the news, free-lancing in war zones, waiting anxiously for assignments amid dire finances, staying in the line of fire for that one great picture. On May 23, 14 months after capturing that memorable scene, Carter walked up to the dais in the classical rotunda of Columbia University's Low Memorial Library and received the Pulitzer Prize for feature photography. The South African soaked up the attention. "I swear I got the most applause of anybody," Carter wrote back to his parents in Johannesburg. "I can't wait to show you the trophy. It is the most precious thing, and the highest acknowledgme ...
I predict a major catastrophe will strike the United States within 6 months. I know it. You know it. We can all sense something huge is about to happen. Could be the economic collapse that has been artificially delayed by TPTB (The Powers That Be). Or maybe, a massive epidemic of some nasty virus, cooked up in the labs of the CDC, at the behest of the gub’ment. How about a nice nuclear strike on New York City or Los Angeles? Oh yes, something is coming that will finish toppling this country off her high horse as a superpower, while the world watches with a mixture of fascination, horror and glee. I don’t know if we’ll see people in other countries, dancing in celebration in the streets at the grievous wound we’ll suffer, but I doubt there will be too many tears shed. Besides, it will be the perfect excuse for our illustrious Commandant-in-Chief to declare martial law, and assume the dictatorial reins of power he quivers in his dreams about having. Yes, I know. You don’t think that kind of thing ...
Thought of the Day! Jan. 25, 2013 I remember the first time I met Shirley Verrett. She climbed my stairs in my brownstone in New York, 3 flights, to the studio. She had on a lovely flowing outfit with a tunic on her head. Her make up was perfect and she flowed elegantly into the room. Shirley Verrett had a charisma that is still important in the world of opera today. It seems that the public wants a singer to reflect elegance and mystique and Shirley had both in spades. I remember how much fun we had when we worked in 1994. We laughed a lot during those sessions. Shirley was doing the role of Neddi in "Carousel". She was almost 64 when she came to me and I was amazed at her amazing voice. We worked mainly on the lower passaggio because the role required a lot more singing in that range. She did a beautiful job and I went to one of the first performances. I spoke of working in her studio at the University of Michigan later that year. She adored her student and it was obvious that she cared for them deeply. ...

"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness." - Lamentations 3:22-23 His Eye Is On The Sparrow: Mrs. Doolittle of Elmira, New York had spent twenty years of her life stuck in bed. Her husband was a bit better off, because at least Mr. Doolittle was able to get about in a wheelchair. Yet, when Civilla Martin visited the Doolittles in 1904, she was amazed to find the dear couple had joy in the midst of their very difficult day-to-day lives. When Civilla asked Mrs. Doolittle whether she ever got discouraged, the physically (but not spiritually) invalid woman said, "Mrs. Martin, how can I be discouraged when my heavenly Father watches over each little sparrow and I know He loves and cares for me." Those few words inspired Civilla Martin to jot down the lines of what has become a very beloved and encouraging hymn. "His Eye Is On the Sparrow" By Civilla Martin, 1869-1948 Why should I feel discouraged, Why should t ...

1 Corinthians 2:1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, 4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. (NASB95) In these verses, Paul points out to the Corinthian church that he came to them proclaiming the gospel and was determined to know nothing except Jesus Christ crucified. He tells them that his words were proclaimed in the power of the Spirit so that their faith would not rest on men but on the power which comes from God the Father. 1 Corinthians 2:9 but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for ...

Determination and Persistence This is a real life story of engineer John Roebling building the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, USA back in 1870. The bridge was completed in 1883, after 13 years. _ In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before. Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built. Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how ...

Fellow photographer Renee McCardell and her adorable son Nathan stopped by. Then Leigh Gibson and her beautiful mom added some details to her upcoming perfect wedding. Finished our day with dinner with Heather Hill Brown at the Fringe talking about our upcoming Senior shoot with her sister Madison in New York!!! Doesn't get any better than this!
On this day in 1865, the Confederate Congress agrees to continue prisoner exchanges, opening a process that had operated only sporadically for three years. In the first year of the Civil War, prisoner exchanges were conducted primarily between field generals on an ad hoc basis. The Union was reluctant to enter any formal agreements, fearing that it would legitimize the Confederate government. But the issue became more important as the campaigns escalated in 1862. In July 1862, Union General John Dix and Confederate General Daniel H. Hill reached an agreement in which each soldier was assigned a value according to rank. For example, one private was worth another private; corporals and sergeants were worth two privates; and lieutenants were worth three privates. A commanding general was worth 60 privates. Under this system, thousands of soldiers were exchanged rather than languishing in prisons like those in Andersonville, Georgia, or Elmira, New York. The system was really a gentlemen's agreement, relying ...

Well, this woman was tired of sitting around her house, so today felt like a good day to walk around. Besides, she hadn't been living in New York City for that long, and she wanted to explore the new world she was living in. She got nice and bundled up before heading outside of her apartment and down the sidewalk.
First day lessons of Panama: 1. If you think driving in LA or New York is bad, think again. 2. You can lose a lot of money just as fast in their casinos. 3. If you can't speak Spanish, you're screwed.
April 23, 2008 BBC correspondent discovers gun-owning America feels safe Thomas Lifson Justin Webb, BBC's North America editor, reports to UK listeners and readers on the "paradox" that America is less violent (and feels much safer) than Britain, where private hand gun ownership is banned. Why is it then that so many Americans - and foreigners who come here - feel that the place is so, well, safe? "I have met incredulous British tourists who have been shocked to the core by the peacefulness of the place" A British man I met in Colorado recently told me he used to live in Kent but he moved to the American state of New Jersey and will not go home because it is, as he put it, "a gentler environment for bringing the kids up." This is New Jersey. Home of the Sopranos. Brits arriving in New York, hoping to avoid being slaughtered on day one of their shopping mission to Manhattan are, by day two, beginning to wonder what all the fuss was about. By day three they have had had the scales lifted from their eyes. I ...

God's Wife An eye witness account from New York City, on a cold day in December, some years ago: A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold. A lady approached the young boy and said, 'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!' 'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,' was the boy's reply. The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her. She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel. By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes. She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, 'No doubt, y ...

I wrote out a long reply to all thanking everyone for your prayers and support. Then I lost it-probably an operator error. Some day I will get used to my tablet and hit the correct keys. But I sincerely thank everyone and you can share Lilly's story with anyone. About a year and a half ago, they found a brain tumor. They operated and for awhile she was ok. Last fall the tumor started growing at a dangerous rate so they started chemo. She has been in the hospital twice since she started chemo for chemo related problems. Even the oncologist said they were going to try a different type because she would not survive this kind. She is 4 years old, weighs 27 pounds and is not the same happy child she was three months ago. We are surrounded by wonderful Christians who support us all. Their church has been wonderful, and friends are providing meals and help with the older kids. Wonderful friends helped get the private plane to take them to New York. The Culinary Union is back, and this time, they have an easy target. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) by now should be in receipt of a letter from various Chicago Women's Groups, demanding former Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson be removed from this Saturday night's (Jan. 26, 2013) UFC on FOX 6 fight card. The reason? "Rampage" released a video last year explaining how to rape a woman in a parking garage using chloroform, zip ties and low self-esteem. He also said it was done in an effort to get himself kicked out of the UFC and promised to next "do one on car-jackers." This isn't the first time the Culinary Union has led the charge against FOX or UFC. Just last month, representatives blasted the network for allowing Jeremy Stephens to compete at UFC on FOX 5 in Seattle, despite having a pending trial for assault charges in Minneapolis, just as they condemned the promotion's decision to include Abel Trujillo, who twice plead guilty to "domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury" against th ...

Marlin Firearms Closes In North Haven, Ending 141 Years Of Manufacturing In Connecticut April 01, 2011|By MATTHEW STURDEVANT, msturdevantThe Hartford Courant NORTH HAVEN — — A half-dozen workers were in otherwise empty offices Friday at The Marlin Firearms Co. as the company wound down 141 years of manufacturing in Connecticut. A security phone at the visitor's gate was unattended next to a large barren parking lot off Bailey Road near I-91. A reception room that resembles a ski lodge, complete with a fireplace, was dark. The few people left working Friday declined to comment, but one employee said there were six people inside and that Friday was their last day of work. Marlin was acquired in 2008 by Remington Arms Co. Inc., which is a subsidiary of Freedom Group Co. of Madison, N.C. Three years ago, Marlin employed 345 people at its headquarters in North Haven and 225 in Gardner, Mass., at the former Harrington and Richardson plant that Marlin had acquired. "I think it's a huge loss," said Larry Laza ...

A KILLER IN YOUR FRIDGE SWEET POISON..A MUST READ FOR ALL YOU DIET SODA DRINKERS!! In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain. By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick she just knew she was dying. She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in her oldest daughter's name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of. She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd. On March 19, I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn't find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS. I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I ...

Wow! This is our very first official post! We are very excited to get things underway and are anxiously awaiting our first trip, to the great state and city, New York, NY, next month! We will be dining at Patsy's on 56th for Valentine's Day. Patsy's is the one and only favorite NY spot for my beloved Francis Albert Sinatra, better known and loved as "Frank Sinatra." The third-generation owner and head chef, Sal Scognamillo, has graciously assisted me in planning this dream dinner and we are SO excited to meet him and visit this historic restaurant. Surely, our dinner there, as well as our first trip to "The Big Apple" will help us to create memories to last a life-time. Please join us on our trip! We will do our best to make you feel as if you are right along with us. There are so many preparations to complete and we will be writing about them until it is time to set sail (or in this case, start our engine :) ) Wishing all of you happy trails! Cheers!

York Fairmont Resort, Leura ( New South Wales, Australia) 2009-01-29 This is my letter to the evasive General Manager. It explains in detail why you shouldnt book with them. Dear Ms James, I have attempted to call you on several occasions and left messages but unfortunately you have not returned any of my calls. Please take the time to read my letter and address my concerns. After thorough research on where to stay for our holiday, I chose York Fairmont Resort, Leura. I was attracted to your hotel because of the advertised facilities your resort provided. In particular, the kids club, library, games room and the health club. It was exciting that one place offered all the things we wanted for our holiday so I booked three nights stay. I researched your hotel through your own website and wotif.com. After calling the resort personally to clarify some details, the receptionist encouraged me and assisted me on the phone in making the booking which was cheaper than wotif.com. We arrived on Friday, 9 Janua ...

Several of you asked where Dave Price is going - I don't know that and Greg didn't announce it when he announced the news of his return, however, Steve Lacey will be taking Greg's spot on the 6pm and 10pm news, so I'm wondering if Dave will replace Steve in the Good Day Wake Up spot?? Montreal: the crowning of the senses Words and images by Rome Jorge Montreal isn’t just a city I went to see; I went there to taste and savor, to listen and groove, inhale and imbibe. An island metropolis that rings the regal mountain for which it is named—Mont Royal—Montreal crowns itself with seemingly a hundred church steeples, wreaths itself with fields of flowers, mantels itself in lush verdant forest trees and anoints itself with its own Notre Dame Basilica—a wonder just about as epiphanic as its namesake in Paris. But there is much more to behold than I could see with my own eyes. I found that Montreal is just as gorgeous as with my eyes closed. To truly reinvent how to explore this city, I needed to use my palate, my nose, my ears and my heart. A city for the senses Montreal is the taste of the most scrumptious and heavenly macarons that melt on the tongue. It’s also the buttery mouth-feel of layer upon layer of delicate slices of masterfully smoked kosher beef piled into halves of ...

Date of this article in the New York Post??? January 24th, 2003. EXACTLY 10 YEARS AGO. A cold snap in NYC.. Yes, that's yours truly. And I'm still joking 10 years later, about how bad I look in hats!! :)
If you’re into fitness, you’ve heard of CrossFit. Celebrities, athletes, moms and military vets are all stepping into the box (CrossFit lingo for gym). Some are doing it to lose weight, some enjoy the thrill of the competition and some probably don’t know why they keep coming back day after day to participate in this fitness phenomenon. The “sport of fitness,” as CrossFit dubs itself, has steadily grown to hold a powerful presence, proving it is more than just another passing fitness trend. CrossFit is booming so fiercely that it is difficult to find an accurate count on how many boxes are affiliated worldwide, but it is somewhere around 5,000 and increasing by 50 a week according to the most recent Wikipedia findings. Inside boxes, groups of athletes push through grueling workouts together, against the clock and their own personal best. If one were to poke their head into a box towards the end of a WOD ( workout of the day), the sight would be difficult to forget. Sweat and blood may drip off t ...

What is this “Pilates” thing ? Recently Pilates seems to be all around the place, but what is it exactly ? A mix between physiotherapy and yoga ? Not exactly… Let’s find out. First of all, we should know that the term Pilates comes from its creator, Joseph H. Pilates born in Germany in 1883. Although, Joseph was suffering of a thorax malformation, he became a great athlete in many disciplines. He believed in physical training and insisted in the relation of the body and mind in health. Joseph Pilates loves to observe animals and the way they stretch to get inspiration for his method. In the beginning of the 1900’s he started to build “machines” to allow injured people to work from their bed doing stretching exercise to stimulate the body. During the First World War, Joseph is in detention in a camp and starts to train his co-prisoners to keep them fit and healthy. During the terrible flu epidemic of 1918 none of the Pilates “students” died as, Joseph claims, a result of his training meth ...
wait weren't they in New York City on their first day
Chasing the Dragon Words by Rome Jorge Images by Gabriel Dela Cruz I did the biggest no-no in travel. (No, I didn’t get caught bringing contraband at the airport.) I made everybody else wait on the tour bus. And I did it on purpose. We were at Lugang on the way to Taichung, the third largest city in Taiwan and halfway between the harbor city of Kaohsiung and the capital Taipei, to stroll the streets and see for ourselves the Taiwan Lantern Festival. But the irony was that we were all expected to be back in the bus by six in the evening—just as darkness would fall and the lanterns would light up. If I were to follow this part of the itinerary strictly, I would miss out on the spectacle—the very reason we were here. So I bided my time savoring spicy street food and washing it down with Taiwan Beer as well as hot tea, while the wind made the cold truly chilly. True enough, at six o’ clock, the multitude of lanterns that lined the street, seemingly unimpressive when they were unlit in the ...

Read and Lauf and makes sure u add ya comment.lol I wondered aloud the other day and asked Irvin – the cab man who insisted that he was helping me even when he got paid for driving me around – on why there were no pot-holes on the roads as compared to the roads in some other African countries.? He looked at the rear mirror and our eyes met and he asked back; “do you prefer potholes on the roads?”. Not getting an answer from me, he fired again, are there potholes on Nigerian roads? “Not really, but…em except in some few rural roads”, I lied, defending my country. Besides all the wide and marked roads, hardly can one see a road driving for a four-hour journey from Johannesburg to the province of Mpumalanga where the Eagles are grouped in the Nations Cup. The journey was swift and safe as the driver had a speed limit unlike the formular 1 drivers in Nigeria. Irvin explained that traffic offence could lead one to jail as well as starving and depriving you from feeding your family. Cameras are m ...

Reflecting back on the Centennial celebration of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, has been laced with smiles, laughter, tears, heads held high, Sorors hands showcasing the Delta symbol, many OOO-OOOPs, Delta struts, strolls, and chants, and of course our sacred Sweetheart song. Deltas from around the world floated on cloud nine as we watched that historic moment as Delta Sigma Theta’s float made its way down the parade route of the 124th Rose Bowl parade. It was not just about having a float, but letting the world know that we are "Transforming Communities through Sisterhood and Service". We were called to serve. And the celebration continued. Topping the float was going to be difficult. But the sorority did. Cities are being lit up as the Centennial torch makes its way across the country to its final destination in July, Washington, DC. My head lifted proudly at attention as I saw pictures of the hallowed edifice that represents the City of Los Angeles painted with beaming lights of red ...

Thursday, January 24, 2013 God Chose You Before You Chose Him by Rick Warren “Dear friends, God the Father chose you long ago and knew you would become His children.” (1 Peter 1:2 LB) God chose you long before you chose him. God took the initiative. The Good News translation puts it this way: “You were chosen according to the purpose of God.” Why would God choose you or me to be a part of his family? Because he is a God of love; he is a God of grace. The more you understand grace, the more you're going to be amazed by it. God chose you. Did you deserve it? Not a chance. Do you deserve to go to Heaven? No way! Are you good enough to be in God's family? No. He just chose you. And that's good news. On what basis did he choose you? First Peter 1:3 says, "For it is His boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that now we are members of God's own family." God chose you based on his mercy, not your performance. You'll never earn it. You'll never deserve it. You couldn't work ...

I surport the second amendment (Rite to bear arms) - I also surport Universal background checks, bans on both Assault rifles n high cap mags (no need for assault weapons for civilians, n if yu need more than 10 bullets, then yu shudnt have a gun) - we prob get universal, 50:50 on the mags, prob no go on the ARs. Actually, i think we americans just have to accept the fact that peeps/kids are ALWAYS gona get shot/killed DAILY - just the new normal (sad but true) - maybe it was always this way to begin with - I also have the rite NOT to own a gun, which i do so of my own free will.

Gdmorning frnz have a sweet day for u :-) :-) :-)
I have a lot of things on my mind here in regards to boarding. One of our boarders has been here a long time, The other has been here a year. I have to increase our rates. There are so many more things than hay and grain and they don't understand what goes into the operation. There is wear and tear, fences, pastures, insurance, utilities, and my own time for starters. We charge 325.00 a month, and it's not making a dent. I may have to go to 400.00 a month. Sound like too much? I need opinions. Also, keep in mind, I make my living as a carpenter, but the time I spend doing boarding is 24 hours a day. It's a full time job.
Can anyone explain the logic in the US giving Egypt fighting F-16 aircraft. What are we doing...this is the Muslim Brotherhood.not our ally. Gee I wonder what damage this assault weapon can do? Who is talking about this? Just throwing out questions in case some has greater insight than I...
The Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio is the best travel companion that I can think of. Once again, Sony has demonstrated its technical prowess, dominance, and mastery of the portable audio product category. This Sony portable radio features excellent sensitivity and selectivity with respect to its broadcast FM/AM/Weather Band reception capabilities. I feel lucky and fortunate to own it. The Sony Walkman is a small and lightweight radio that fits with ease in the palm of your hand, on your belt with included clip, or in your shirt pocket. It is just comforting to notice the solid feel and sturdy build quality of this resilient Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable digital radio. This Sony Walkman is a go anywhere radio that performs well under adverse conditions, including a very hot and humid summer day in Miami, on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge at the start of the New York City Marathon, or a minor rainy weather event at the college ballgame. When I am at the beach, walking in my local park, or taking a stro ...

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the day me and my husband met at the bar "On the Run" at the Galleria at Middletown in Middletown (New York) during a snowstorm. I have to thank our friend Tracy DiDio, the bartender, for introducing us. Who knew what we were going to find that night? I can still remember Pete following me in the snow storm in his Camaro Z28 so I made it home safely. What a gentleman! It just goes to show that you never know what's around the corner in your life!
Like most people, I own hundreds of DVDs, and over the years, I’ve rented hundreds more. Though I have a rather large DVD library, I still have a love-hate relationship with the medium, particularly with their endless special features, which seem to become increasingly less special with each viewing. Nothing, not even the Internet, swallows up my time more than DVD special features. I’m a fairly thrifty (okay, cheap) person, so if I buy a DVD, I want to get my money’s worth. That means I’m going to watch all, and I mean ALL, of the special features, even the fifth audio commentary starring the grips and craft service. Audio commentaries alone can take up to 2 hours or more of your time, depending on the length of the movie, and even then, you don’t get to enjoy the film, just some guy yammering away about it while the music, dialogue, and sound effects are squeezed into the background. I was originally going to write two separate lists: a Top 5 Best DVD Special Features and a Top 5 Worst DVD ...
Tomorrow I'll be 79. Can you believe it? My brother died at 53. Six sisters have preceded me. I still have one sister in her 90's and in an Assisted Living Home where she is very well adjusted. I am still a "snow bird" pastor for 12 years. I get to golf once a week and go fishing occasionally. God is so good to me. My wife of 58+ years is still pretty and will take me to a steak house for tomorrow's supper. I have two wonderful children (grown) and a wonderful granddaughter and a wonderful grandson. I am blessed to have wonderful friends. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Yet another shooting where a teenager grabs his parents legally purchased semi automatic assault rifle and blows a lot of his family members away in a matter of seconds in New Mexico. More guns to solve the problem? Please, give me a break. It's time we follow Britain's example. They have 35 murders caused by guns annually, while we have over 11000. Enough said
I'm still tryna go to New York for V-Day though.

The rythm, the words, the artists, the background might tend to make one believe that the video relates only to Trinidad and Tobago. But wherever the Caribbean working class get together, whether at Carnivals in Trinidad and Tobago, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and, people's partoes as in Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean countries and most palpably at Labor Day New York and Nottingham England, there is that certainty that the Caribbean working class understand that we are one people. W e share the pain of the divisiveness, we cry , we shout, we curse the political structures which allow a handful of power-grabbing and money-grabbing people to set the parameters (always bad for our people, but *** those who understand and try must continue to try to bring to gether that one togetherness. Quote of the Day: New York Times’ conservative columnist David Brooks notes, "Americans are both dependent on government and among the hardest-working people on Earth. Considering this, dependence on government is simply a necessary consequence of a well-functioning industrialized economy. Put simply, we rely on and fund a common set of public institutions that can construct and accomplish things that no single individual can construct and accomplish. Whether you call it “government” or simply “civilization,” almost every American relies on the government in some form."

So much to do in our area, especially at this time of year!
In the middle of the Great Depression, New York City mayor, Fiorello LaGuardia, strived to live with the people. It was not unusual for him to ride with the firefighters, raid with the police, or take field trips with orphans. On a bitterly cold night in January of 1935, the mayor turned up at a night court that served the poorest ward of the city. LaGuardia dismissed the judge for the evening and took over the bench himself. Within a few minutes, a tattered old woman was brought before him, charged with stealing a loaf of bread. She told the mayor that her daughter's husband had left, her daughter was sick, and her two grandchildren were starving. However, the shopkeeper, from whom the bread was stolen, refused to drop the charges. "It's a real bad neighborhood, your Honor," the man told the mayor. "She's got to be punished to teach other people around here a lesson." LaGuardia sighed. He turned to the woman and said, "I've got to punish you. The law makes no exceptions. Ten dollars or ten days in jail." ...

“The Doctor, Amy and Rory visit modern-day New York. But the Weeping Angels are lurking here too. When one of the TARDIS crew is zapped back to 1938, Amy discovers that time can’t always be rewritten, not once it’s written in stone”. My theories may be right :-)
The Book of Mormon is a sacred text of the Latter Day Saint movement that adherents believe contains writings of ancient prophets who lived on the American continent from approximately 2200 BC to AD 421. It was first published in March 1830 by Joseph Smith as The Book of Mormon: An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi. According to Smith's account, and also according to the book's narrative, the Book of Mormon was originally written in otherwise unknown characters referred to as "reformed Egyptian" engraved on golden plates. Smith claimed that the last prophet to contribute to the book, a man named Moroni, buried it in a hill in present-day New York and then returned to earth in 1827 as an angel, revealing the location of the book to Smith and instructing him to translate and disseminate it as evidence of the restoration of Christ's true church in the latter days.
