Today's teams. Ally McCoist has made three changes to his starting eleven for today’s massive Championship clash against league leaders Hearts at Tynecastle. Bilel Mohsni returns to the centre of defence alongside Lee McCulloch with Lee Wallace slotting in at left back. Jon Daly also gets the nod in attack with the big striker partnering Kenny Miller in a 4-4-2 formation and Kris Boyd dropping to the bench. With Richard Foster and David Templeton also named on the seven-man Gers bench this afternoon it's a back four of Darren McGregor, Mohsni, McCulloch and Wallace that will protect Steve Simonsen's goal. In front of them is a midfield quartet which will feature Steven Smith on the left, Lewis MacLeod on the right and Ian Black and Nicky Law through the middle. They will be asked to provide support and service for the front two of Miller and Daly as the Light Blues look to return to winning ways following last weekend's disappointing 1-1 draw against Alloa at Ibrox. Rangers 4-2 Fulham: Gers see off Cottagers GOALS from Lewis MacLeod, Kenny Miller, Nicky Law and Nicky Clark gave Rangers a 4-2 victory over English Championship side Fulham at Murray Park this afternoon. A strong Rangers side started the match, with Cammy Bell between the sticks, and a back four of Richard Foster, Lee McCulloch, Bilel Mohsni and Lee Wallace, while in midfield David Templeton made his first pre-season appearance. Youngster Ryan Sinnamon played part of the second half, replacing Wallace after 66 minutes. Kenny Miller put the Ibrox side ahead following Mohsni’s knock-down from Fraser Aird’s corner, before Moussa Dembele headed Fulham back on level terms. On the 20 minute mark, Lewis MacLeod - in his first game since January - restored Rangers’ advantage with a 25-yard drive, but Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega levelled for the London club from 15 yards. Rangers boss Ally McCoist made four changes at half time, including Steve Simonsen, back training with the club following the expira ...

Our Squad Can Cope Cammy Bell insists Rangers have the strength in depth to field a winning side against Raith even if Ally McCoist’s injury doubts don’t make Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup final. It’s still unclear exactly who will be available to the manager for this weekend’s clash with the Fifers at Easter Road. Nicky Law now appears set to play having trained this week following a twisted back at Brechin City almost two weeks ago. Andy Little is the least likely to make it as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury picked up against Airdrieonians on the night League One was won. Elsewhere, David Templeton has started running again after pulling up with a groin problem in the same game. Ian Black is also out of a protective boot after hurting his foot at Glebe Park while Jon Daly came off with a hamstring strain towards the end of last week’s 2-1 win at Arbroath. Those two players have been handled delicately this week and they’re being given until as late as possible to prove they’re fit ...
Stenny Will Make It Tough Ally McCoist believes his Rangers players will face a tricky 90 minutes tomorrow and doesn’t expect them to hit eight goals like they did the last time Stenhousemuir travelled to Ibrox. On that occasion on September 28, 2013 the Light Blues put on a terrific display to record their biggest win of the season to date with Jon Daly scoring four and Bilel Mohsni, Lee Wallace, Andy Little and David Templeton also on target in a sensational 8-0 victory. Since then Rangers have faced Stenny twice at Ochilview Park and both matches have been far tighter affairs. On October 29 a header from Daly was enough to take Rangers through to the final of the Ramsdens Cup and a double from Nicky Law secured three League One points on January 5. McCoist expects more of the same this weekend and the Stenhousemuir players will no doubt be out to impress with Scott Booth installed as their new manager on Tuesday. Previous boss Martyn Corrigan stepped down on January 21 and with tomorrow’s visitors ...

RANGERS 3 V ARBROATH 2 Rangers twice came from behind to beat Arbroath and move 23 points clear at the top of Scottish League One. David Banjo fired the visitors ahead but Jon Daly stroked home to level before half-time. Arbroath led again when Robert Linn escaped the Rangers defence to score only for David Templeton to tuck away the home side's second equaliser. A foul on Daly gave Lee McCulloch the chance to score from the penalty spot and the club captain converted. And, with nearest challengers Dunfermline losing, Ally McCoist's side extended their lead at the top. With over 40 point separating Rangers and Arbroath before kick-off, few would have expected the second-bottom side in the division to net first at Ibrox. But Banjo had other ideas, converting Alan Cook's cross to stun the large home crowd. Lee Wallace's powerful effort flew past the Arbroath post and team-mate Ian Black came close with a free-kick before the pair combined to set up Daly for the leveller. Dean Shiels fired into the side nett ...
Well done to our Rangers lads, who won to Arbroath 3-2 at Ibrox today !!! Jon Daly, David Templeton and Lee McCulloch were Rangers goalscorers this match !!! The Gers is top leader and has got 64 points in the Scottish League One !!! Well done Rangers !!! WATP !!!
Full-time at Ibrox. Rangers 3, Arbroath 2. Goals from Jon Daly, David Templeton and Lee McCulloch secure a narrow and hard-fought victory.
Ian Black and Arnold Peralta are both banned for Rangers and Nicky Clark misses out against the team he scored 4 times against in December with a foot problem Lewis MacLeod and David Templeton have returned to training after injury and could feature against the Station Park side however Kyle Hutton remains out following a broken leg and long term ankle injuries continue to keep Ross Perry and Chris Hegarty away from the action. Manager Ally McCoist said: “The players have been fantastic in the way that they have gone about their business. I am sure they will go out and play this game like they have been playing games all season.” “Forfar are in form with good wins in their last two games and knowing *** Campbell as I do I know they will be fired up. They have given us two tough games at station Park already this season and I am sure that this will be a third one.” McCoist added: “We had a great performance and a 6-1 win over Forfar at our place and a repeat of that would be very welcome.”
Ally McCoist welcomed David Templeton and Lewis MacLeod back to training yesterday and both players look set to be in the squad to face Forfar on Monday. _LDx
Rangers 2 East Fife 0 Scottish League One, Ibrox Stadium Saturday 11th January 2014 Match Report by Liam Thomson East Fife were left to rue several missed chances as they lost 2-0 against Rangers at Ibrox. The Fifers however can take great heart from the performance they produced in front of a crowd of just over 42,000 spectators. Going into the match league leaders Rangers were without Nicky Clark, Lewis MacLeod, Steven Smith and David Templeton through injury whilst Arnold Peralta was suspended. Ally McCoist was able though to select Bilel Mohsni who returned after serving a ban. Gary Naysmith had almost a full squad to pick from apart from youngster Nathan Austin who failed to recover in time from the ankle knock he took in last week’s fixture at Bayview against Arbroath. On the last occasion the Methil side visited Govan they lost a goal in less than sixty seconds and unfortunately they made another inauspicious start to this match. In the 5th minute, Rangers were awarded a corner kick following an ...
Dean Shiels marked his return to the starting eleven with a deadly double as Rangers beat East Fife for a third time this season to maintain the club’s 17–point gap at the top of League One. Shiel had not started a match since August 27 when the Light Blues beat Berwick Rangers 2-0 in the second round Ramsdens Cup at Ibrox. But this afternoon he took just four minutes to find the net and he then scored his side’s second after the hour mark as Ally McCoist’s men recorded their 19th league win of the season. The manager made two changes to his starting line-up with Bilel Mohsni also back in after he had missed the 2-0 victory over Stenhousemuir last weekend because of suspension. He took the place of Richard Foster with Arnold Peralta also missing today’s game after his red card at Ochilview. With Nicky Clark (foot), David Templeton (thigh), Lewis MacLeod (calf), Stevie Smith (ankle) all out along with long-term absentees Ross Perry and Chris Hegarty the manager named just six players on the benc ...
Patience Is The Key Jon Daly insists patience is the key for Rangers at the moment after they had to bide their time before scoring the goals that knocked Airdrie out of the Scottish Cup. The Light Blues were worthy 3-0 winners as Daly’s double and a strike from substitute David Templeton knocked the Diamonds out. But for the fifth game running, Gers won the game in the second half after going into half-time without a lead. Having been so rampant against a number of sides in the early part of the season, opponents are setting themselves up in a more guarded fashion now. Daly and his team-mates are always confident of getting the result they want but the forward knows they might sometimes have to wait for their breakthrough. The 30-year-old said: “The manager said to us we’d need to be patient and a lot of teams are getting men behind the ball. “They’re making it difficult and making it hard for us to play through them. Even though Airdrie did that, we had a few chances in the first half. “If o ...
Apologies folks for lack of posts recently was due to personal stuff anyway Boss Ally McCoist is hopeful Rangers would be able to hold their own if paired with Scottish Premiership opposition in the next round of the William Hill Scottish Cup. Rangers manager Ally McCoist bewildered at Easter Road call John Daly delivers goal as Rangers edge way into Ramsdens Cup final Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell eager to play for Scots again The Light Blues booked their place in the fourth round with a comfortable 3-0 win over Airdrie at Ibrox on Friday night, with Jon Daly claiming a double and substitute David Templeton also on the scoresheet. Rangers were well beaten when they were dumped out of the competition by Dundee United last year, but McCoist believes his Scottish League One side should be better equipped to compete with top-flight opposition this time around. He said: "It would be another test. If we get a Premiership side we will just have to deal with it when it comes. "We've got a group of players who ha ...

Just a few questions to get the fans debating, David Templeton or Gary McKay-Steven? Andy Little or Jonny Russell? Lee McCulloch or John Daily? Neil Alexander or Cammy Bell? What's your thoughts? One love Glasgow rangers/Scotty.
Dean Shiels will return to Rangers’ starting eleven for today’s SFL3 clash against Jim Chapman’s Annan Athletic. The 28-year-old playmaker will make his 29th appearance of the season, two of which were from the bench, taking the place of David Templeton who has picked up an Achilles injury. This is the only change Ally McCoist has made to the side which kicked-off against East Stirlingshire last weekend. That means Kal Naismith retains his place and it is the second time the youngster has faced the Galabankies after he replaced Andy Little in Rangers’ 3-0 victory over Annan at Ibrox on December 18. As expected a back four of Anestis Argyriou, Emilson Cribari, Chris Hegarty and Lee Wallace will play in front of ever-present keeper Neil Alexander. Naismith is once again expected to start on the right side of midfield with Ian Black and Kyle Hutton through the middle and Shiels on the left. Up top in-form Andy Little, who is now on 24 goals for the season, will support skipper Lee McCulloch who is on ...
Rangers 3 East Stirlingshire 1: Reward for Little efforts Richard Wilson Sports writer Sunday 3 March 2013 Rangers could only savour the result against East Stirling yesterday. The East Stirling defence close out Rangers' David Templeton inside the box Photograph: SNS The victory was welcome, but too many aspects of the performance fell short of the standards of a team that aspires towards a higher level. There was even the affront of falling a goal behind just before the interval, although there was some comfort in the scoreline by the time the Rangers supporters began their 54th-minute celebration of 54 titles won, in the week when they learned that figure would not be eroded. Andy Little's equaliser was the result of perseverance rather than ability, with Anestis Argyriou forcing his way into the penalty area before misdirecting a shot that Little bundled over the line. A second goal from the Northern Irishman, after one from Lee McCulloch, secured the points but the home side's faults were evident, an ...
Lets get it wrapped up ASAP. Get title 55 done and dusted. The Charles Green can knock on the SFA/SPHell offices door at hamdump and serve them a writ regarding us not being promoted up to frankenleague 2 ala 1993 Stranraer and Falkirk style. Clear precedent. Greg SATURDAY, 16 FEBRUARY 2013 17:49 Eyes On The Prize WRITTEN BY ANDREW DICKSON Ally McCoist was happy to see Rangers keep their bid for an early Third Division title win on track with this afternoon’s 4-1 win at Clyde. The victory, achieved through doubles from both Andy Little and David Templeton, means the Light Blues remain 22 points clear of second-top Queen’s Park in the table. That gap could come down to 16 points if the Spiders win their games in hand but even so, Gers are in a thoroughly commanding position. Eight wins from the Ibrox side’s final 13 games will guarantee the silverware and it would be a massive shock if they weren’t to get the results they need. While there is still a bit of work to be done yet, McCoist knows his m ...
The Ibrox outfit strolled to victory in the Third Division as they maintained their 22-point lead over Queen's Park at the top of the league Doubles from Andrew Little and David Templeton helped Rangers continue their charge towards the Scottish Third Division title, comfortably easing past Clyde 4-1 at Broadwood Stadium. The Scottish giants stormed into a three-goal lead before half-time. Kevin Clyde gave the home side a glimmer of hope two minutes after the break, only for Templeton to add his second soon after to complete the rout. The home side made two changes from the side that drew away to Berwick Rangers last Saturday, with Gavin Brown and Ryan McBeth coming in for Lee Sharp and Michael Oliver, while Ally McCoist kept confidence with the same line-up that fired four past Queen’s Park. Rangers dominated the game early on and took the lead after just eight minutes when Dean Shiels raced down the right wing and Little who, from the middle of the Clyde penalty box, rifled the ball into the net. The ...
There had been a stinging reaction to the way the team lost so haplessly to Dundee United in the Scottish Cup last weekend, but radical changes to the starting line-up are not possible when the squad itself is so meagre. It fell to the players to perform with an edge that reflected the manager's disgruntlement and that eventually delivered an emphatic scoreline. The sprightliness and intent of the home side was immediately apparent, although their efforts were initially futile. There was time, for instance, for the supporters to stand and applaud in the second and eighth minutes – in tribute to club legends Sandy Jardine and Paul Gascoigne, who are both fighting their own battles to regain full health – without interruption from any meaningful on-field incidents. But the lacklustre mood didn't last long. Rangers sought to be bold, with David Templeton and Barrie McKay playing on the flanks and Dean Shiels combining with Andy Little up front. I can never choose a profile picture between Me & Dean Shiels or me & David Templeton .
Ally McCoist lashed out at his experienced players last night after Rangers’ dismal 3-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Dundee United. There was extra criticism for controversial midfield man Ian Black who was sent off for a second booking just seconds after substitute Kal Naismith was shown a straight red card. That disastrous double ended a desperate afternoon for Rangers, who went down to a Johnny Russell brace and a goal from Arabs skipper Jon Daly. There were six players with significant top-flight experience in the line-up – Neil Alexander, Lee Wallace, Fran Sandaza, Dean Shiels, David Templeton and sinner Black – and the Ibrox boss was in no mood to forgive any of them. “It was poor and our bigger SPL players should have done better today,” he said. “It was a disappointing day for the ones who have more experience and we would have looked at doing better. We are looking for them all to contribute and I said we wanted a performance individually and collectively but when criticism is due, believe ...

David Templeton: No more winging it ... it's time I stepped on the Rangers goals trail for good THERE are still four months of the season remaining. David Templeton is enjoying his best season in front of goal but the forward knows his tally for Gers could be even higher But, already, this has been David Templeton's most successful campaign in terms of goals scored. The winger has netted 11 times in all competitions, twice for former club Hearts and on nine occasions for Rangers. That tally is a vast improvement on last term when the 24-year-old only managed to hit the target twice for the Jambos. And it is already better than in the 2005/06 season when he struck eight times – his previous best – for Stenhousemuir in the Third Division. But is the forward, whose trickery has won him many admirers since moving to Ibrox back in August, satisfied with his record haul? Not at all. Templeton actually believes his finishing has, at times, left much to be desired since he joined the Glasgow giants. Certainly ...
Lee Wallace, David Templeton and Ian Black- hope you enjoy getting your wages on time for your draw with Montrose, we're off to hampden
Alan Campbell of Montrose very lucky not to be booked for that foul on David Templeton of Rangers there. Still 0-0 at Ibrox.
David Templeton believes his chances of a Scotland call-up have been enhanced by the appointment of Gordon Strachan as manager.
Just read The Sun and all I can say is David Templeton. A cap call up? You're having a laugh son! You gave up that right when you went to division 3! Ain't gona happen!
Ally McCoist believes his Rangers players will be given the same opportunity as anyone else to stake a claim for a place in new Scotland boss Gordon Strachan's plans, regardless of the club's Irn-Bru Third Division status. Strachan was confirmed as Craig Levein's successor on Tuesday and his first task will be to select a squad for next month's friendly against Estonia at Pittodrie. So far, Ian Black is the only Rangers player to feature in the national team since the club was demoted to the bottom tier of Scottish football in the summer. Lee Wallace, who has six caps, and David Templeton are among those who have performed well for the Light Blues this term, and McCoist expects Strachan to be open-minded when assessing his options. He said: "I'm certainly not going to attempt to tell him how to pick his squad or his team. What I would say is, I think if our players deserve to be in the international squad, I don't see any reason why Gordon wouldn't pick them. I'm sure he would." Strachan was quickly insta ...

Lee Wallace took the Rangers armband for 90 minutes and led his side to victory at Annan. And David Templeton reckons his former Hearts team-mate can be a long-term successor to Ibrox skipper Lee McCulloch. McCulloch was injured for the 3-1 win at Galabank that made it 11 wins on the spin for Ally McCoist’s runaway Third Division leaders. Full-back Wallace stepped up and turned in a man-of-the-match display. And Templeton, who netted twice in the win, said: “Lee is fantastic, one of the best players I’ve played with. “I’m sure going forward he could be a Rangers captain with his leadership qualities. “I’m not sure how long Lee McCulloch will keep playing. He’s a massive player for us and a great captain so hopefully he’ll go on for a while. “But when he’s not there Lee will be there to take the captaincy and will do a good job. He was captain on Wednesday and is one of those players who will take it in his stride. Nothing fazes him and he talks a lot as well, which helps all the boys ...

The Sandaza situation will be similar to the early run of games the Team had, when people were howling and we, the diehard believers, said wait and it will come good and it did.He is a goalscorer of that there is no doubt. He will get match fit and the sharpness that comes with games under the belt will lead to goals. that was a horror injury and he just needs 4/5 games to be showing us why Ally bought him.Greg Sandaza will get goals says Templeton Published on Friday 4 January 2013 00:00 Rangers winger David Templeton believes striker Francisco Sandaza just needs a goal to kick-start his Ibrox career. The Spaniard has only netted once this season, although he has been restricted to 11 appearances because of the broken cheekbone he suffered against Motherwell in September. Sandaza, whose goal came in a 5-1 win over East Stirlingshire in August, missed a glorious chance in this week’s 3-1 away victory over Annan when he headed Templeton’s corner down towards an open goal from four yards but saw it boun ...

HES A MARKED MAN David Templeton jumped to the defence of Rangers team-mate Ian Black today claiming he is being singled out by referees. The Ibrox midfielder was booked in the 3-1 win over Annan – the Ibrox club's 11th successive victory which saw them go 17 points clear of Peterhead in the Irn-Bru Third Division. The SFA will today confirm if this was his sixth caution in the league – if so, it will earn him a suspension. Templeton, though, believes his former Hearts team-mate is receiving special attention from referees because he has earned a name for himself. "It was his first foul and he went straight into the book," said Templeton. "If you watch games closely, you'll see that in every game he takes at least three or four real kicks. "We're not complaining; that is just football when you are at this level. But I do feel for Ian because I think it is something that is frustrating him. "At the time of his booking, we were not playing particularly well and he was trying to get a bit tighter and a b ...

Thirteen and a half hours of my day off, spent packing and moving boxes and furniture. Got it all to do again before the month's out.
Just a wee report from theatch earlier Annan Athletic 1-3 Rangers Third Division leaders Rangers started 2013 with a comfortable victory over Annan Athletic at Galabank. David Templeton's tight-angled cross found its way into the net in the 26th minute, but that was cancelled out by a similar Ally Love strike 10 minutes before the interval. A second-half shot from Robbie Crawford put Rangers back into the lead after Ian Black had nodded down. Templeton completed the win with a long-range shot that Harry Monaghan deflected into his own net with seven minutes remaining. The win is Rangers' 11th straight victory in the league and puts them 18 points clear at the top of Division Three. Ally McCoist made three changes to the team that played against Queen's Park on Saturday with Darren Cole, Francisco Sandaza and Andrew Little in after Lee McCulloch dropped out. Templeton started brightly with a right-footed shot from 18 yards out in the third minute, but Annan goalkeeper Alex Mitchell gathered comfortably. Mo ...

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist does not expect David Templeton to have any trepidation when he returns to Annan Athletic’s artificial pitch tomorrow afternoon. The Ibrox winger was carried off on a stretcher with ankle ligament damage when the two sides fought out a goalless draw at Galabank on 15 September, which the Ibrox club partly blamed on their hosts’ third-generation pitch. Templeton was out until early December but has since played on artificial turf at Montrose and McCoist expects the former Hearts player to erase any bad memories he may have of his last visit to Annan. “David’s head is absolutely fine,” he said. “He might have a little bit of something going on in his head but I would hope not. He changes his boots, he wore different boots in the game at Montrose, which he seemed a lot more comfortable in. “It won’t alter my plans. I speak to the medical boys and listen to them but I think David is big enough, old enough and has been around the block enough to know it’s just one ...
'87 - SUB: Rangers bring on 16 year old midfielder Tom Walsh for his Rangers debut, replacing goalscorer David Templeton.
Queen's Park 0-1 Rangers By Keir Murray BBC Sport Scotland Fraser Aird scored his first goal for Rangers as the Hampden visitors broke the deadlock in injury-time to beat 10-man Queen's Park. David Templeton shot over the bar and his Rangers team-mate Robbie Crawford headed wide but neither side could land an effort on target in the first half. Spiders' goalie Neil Parry saved well from Barrie McKay before James Brough was sent off in a scrappy encounter. Lawrence Shankland twice threatened Rangers before Aird fired the winner. The league leaders playing away to the team in third place suggested a tight match, but a closer look at the Third Division table gave greater detail to those keen to predict the result. Rangers had won nine league games in a row since losing to Stirling Albion on 6 October, while the Spiders had won only two of their seven league matches at Hampden this season. The amateur side had the first chance, though, Ian Watt hitting a free-kick just over the bar on 15 minutes after Willie ...

WALLACE TELLS GERS TARGETS,U WILL NOT REGRET IT Lee Wallace has told Rangers’ potential SPL transfer targets they won’t regret a switch to Ibrox and plying their trade in Scotland’s lower leagues. The former Hearts full-back was one of the few stars who agreed to stay with the club in the Third Division. Wallace has loved life in the SFL and would urge anyone to be part of their resurgence back to the top flight. Manager Ally McCoist has been linked with moves for Ryan McGowan of Hearts, Motherwell’s Jamie Murphy and St Johnstone ace Murray Davidson – who are all free to sign pre-contracts in January before Rangers can register them in September. Wallace and fellow SPL exiles Ian Black, Dean Shiels and David Templeton have spoken about the challenge of helping Rangers earn three straight promotions. And the 25-year-old would urge anyone who has the opportunity to play at Ibrox to grab it. He starred alongside McGowan at Tynecastle and hopes the Aussie joins an Ibrox colony of former Jambos that ...
Lee Wallace insisted SPL stars would have no regrets if they agreed to join the battle to restore Rangers to the top of the Scottish game. The Ibrox club are next week able to speak to players whose contracts expire at the season as they seek free agents to officially register when their embargo is lifted on September 1. Appeal: Lee Wallace has called for more SPL stars to join the cause at Ibrox St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson, Motherwell forward Jamie Murphy, Aberdeen winger Ryan Fraser and Hearts defender Ryan McGowan are among the names already linked as potential targets. Wallace agreed to stay with Rangers in the Third Division following the chaos of last summer and has been joined this season by former Tynecastle team-mates David Templeton, Ian Black and Kevin Kyle. And the Scotland cap believes their experiences are the best advert for anyone wondering about dropping down the divisions. Barring alterations through reconstruction, it will be another two years before Rangers can be promoted ...
THURSDAY 27 DECEMBER 2012 TEXT SIZE Bully Wee will learn from Ibrox experience By MATTHEW LINDSAY CLYDE manager Jim Duffy today praised his players for how they performed on their debut at Ibrox against Rangers. Clyde manager Jim Duffy was happy with his players None of Duffy's team had played at the Glasgow stadium before and he was pleased with how they acquitted themselves in the 3-0 defeat. And he expects the Bully Wee players to benefit for the experience and use it to their advantage in their Irn-Bru Third Division outings in the future. Duffy said: "I don't think as a manager you can ever settle for your team losing comfortably, but you can settle for players giving 100 per cent. "Every player gave 100 per cent up against a far superior side. They have quality in all areas. They are a different level for us. Look at the goalscorers. Lee Wallace, David Templeton and Dean Shiels. They are all top quality players. "Templeton especially is different class. I would expect them to fire through the leag . ...
TEMPS WILL JOINJ THE LIST OF GREAT ENTERTAINERS Ally McCoist believes David Templeton can join Ibrox entertainers like Cooper, Laudrup and Gazza. The winger hit a stunning second as Gers went 12 points clear in Division Three. He also set up Lee Wallace’s first-half opener. Dean Shiels sealed their ninth straight win late on. Boss McCoist reckons Temps’ latest starring display proves he can one day join some of the nine-in-a-row heroes as a cult hero among fans. He said: “Templeton makes things happen. He’ll give the ball away as well but you have to accept that when players have great talent because they try things which won’t always come off. “When they do, they’re certainly worth waiting for. His pass for the Wallace goal was exceptional. You’ll struggle to see a better goal all day than the second one. “It was a magical goal on his right foot, a wonderful finish. You can see the relationship he’s forming with the support, which will be very important to him. “The supporters have ...
Setting A Tempo WRITTEN BY ANDREW DICKSON Lee Wallace hailed the impact David Templeton is making at Rangers after he set up his goal then scored a memorable curler himself in the 3-0 win over Clyde. The former Hearts team-mates combined for full-back Wallace to break the deadlock with a well-worked strike. But there’s no doubt Templeton’s own effort – a bending 20-yarder after a sublime turn that took his marker out of the game – was the best of the three Gers recorded. The 23-year-old Stenhousemuir youth product is in good form at the minute having scored four times in five starts after an ankle injury. He also set up both of Andy Little’s goals and Lee McCulloch’s second in the 6-2 triumph at Elgin on Saturday. The club’s marquee signing in the summer, Templeton is quickly emerging as a key part of the squad. And Wallace said: “Temps gives us a new dimension when he is involved, especially in the position he started the game in just behind the striker. “He moved out to the right when ...

Did Santa bring David Templeton some smack for Christmas? Telling a player who has just broken into the Australian national side to sign for The Rangers International Football Club ... He's having a laugh, right?
RANGERS’ journey back to the top may be long but David Templeton reckons it will see those who get them there fast-tracked to legendary status. And the Ibrox star admits the opportunity to earn his place in the club’s history as a Light Blues hero is driving him on to get Ally McCoist’s men through the SFL divisions. Templeton had his critics when he made the switch down the M8 from Hearts with some claiming one of Scottish football’s brightest talents lacked ambition. The 23-year-old dazzled at Anfield, scoring for the Jambos against Liverpool in the Europa League – then just 24 hours later chose to play in the Third Division with Gers. But just four months into his Ibrox career – two of them spent on the sidelines – Templeton is loving life in Govan and insists he has no regrets about his decision. If anything, being blown away by the record crowds in Scottish football’s bottom tier has only made him believe even more that he made the right choice. And the incredible support is fuelling ...
Todays Rangers report Lewis MacLeod and Kyle Hutton also claimed a goal apiece against Elgin, while Daniel Moore and Mark Nicolson found the net for the home side in an entertaining top-of-the-table tussle at Borough Briggs. Rangers made a quick start and took the lead after five minutes when Little collected a neat pass through the middle from David Templeton before rounding goalkeeper John Gibson and slotting into the back of the net. Elgin were back on level terms with 17 minutes on the clock when the ball broke for Moore and he sent an impressive curling effort past the reach of Neil Alexander. Rangers restored their lead after 24 minutes when Little grabbed his second of the day. Templeton was again the provider with the cut-back and all that was required was a simple tap-in from the Northern Ireland international. Again, the home side responded positively with a goal of their own. Chris Hegarty was booked for a foul on David Niven on the edge of the box and Nicolson dispatched a superb swerving free ...

NOTHING SHORT OF WHAT I EXPECTED Ally McCoist hailed the Rangers supporters for digging deep to raise £5million for their share issue. The club have raised a total of £22million in total with £17m from investors. And boss McCoist — who saw his side beat Annan for a seventh straight win — couldn’t believe the contribution from fans. He said: “It was a great day off the park and for the fans to chip in around £5million is absolutely staggering. “They have only had the opportunity to do that in the last week or so. “And to do it in the week up to Christmas where finances are tight, and with the recession, is another incredible show of support for this football club. “I love the fact they keep surprising me. It is amazing. To get 42,000 on a Tuesday night against Annan is unbelievable. “The one thing the investors and the fans deserve is for their money to be used wisely. I would certainly hope to have the opportunity to use the money wisely.” David Templeton scored twice and Andy Little ...
It's a very good thing to have David Templeton back in royal blue.
RANGERS maintained their 100 per cent home league record with a 3-0 victory over Annan Athletic despite being reduced to ten men in the second half. The Light Blues made it seven wins out of seven at Ibrox with David Templeton hitting a double and Andy Little also getting in on the act. Annan showed flashes of attacking intent throughout the 90 minutes and they should have made it 1-1 before the hour mark when ref Paul Robertson awarded a penalty and sent Lee Wallace off for a push on Jack Steel, denying the player a goalscoring opportunity. Scott Chaplain stepped up but Neil Alexander was there to make a crucial stop. Rangers, however, continued to show their fighting spirit with Little and Templeton adding two more excellent goals. Charles Green walked out onto the pitch before kick-off to thank fans after it had been announced £22.2million had been raised from the club’s IPO and trading in the shares starts tomorrow when the market opens at 8am. This produced a warm applause from the Ibrox faithful ...

Tom Walsh admits he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his name listed as one of the substitutes for today’s game against Stirling Albion. And after the final whistle he was floating on cloud nine having become one of the youngest players in Rangers’ history to make his top team debut. The 16-year-old, who is not 17 until next July, replaced David Templeton in the 87th minutes with the score sitting at 1-0. Andy Little doubled his side’s advantage at the death and although Walsh didn’t have enough time to show fans what he can do simply being on the pitch was a dream come true for the talented youngster. He said: “It was an unbelievable day with Rangers celebrating 140 years.“I was watching the legends coming out on to the pitch at half time as we were warming up and it was amazing.“So to firstly be on the bench and then to make my debut is pretty special.“After the game I couldn’t believe I just played for Rangers Football Club. BELL AND MCGOWAN STILL ON ALLY TARGET LIST AMONG OTHERS RANGERS manager Ally McCoist is ready to offer a pre-contract to Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell – but has still to decide whether to make a move for wantaway Aberdeen winger Ryan Fraser. McCoist was keen to land the Scotland squad keeper in the last transfer window but was forced to prioritise on the last day and, with Neil Alexander already in place, decided to concentrate on deals for Hearts pair David Templeton and Ryan McGowan, although the latter deal fell through. Bell is out of contract in the summer and Ibrox goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart has backed McCoist’s move. The problem is that Rangers can agree a pre-contract with Bell this month but can’t register him until September 1 next year, when their SFA transfer embargo is lifted. That means if a club offers Bell a contract before then the Gers could lose out. Killie boss Kenny Shiels has opened talks with the 26-year-old to extent his contract but that looks unlikely. McCoist will talk . ...
DO STAR NEED SAME PROTECTION AS OTHERS ARE AFFORDED THE treatment some Rangers players have received this season has, on quite a few occasions, been excessive, with teams looking to win the physical battle knowing that McCoist's side will have far more quality when on the ball. On Saturday, it was David Templeton's turn to take the kicks as Stirling kicked him up and down the park. As long as challenges are not being made to hurt Gers stars, there is nothing wrong with using brute force to attempt to get a foothold in the game. Physically will be a feature of most Rangers' fixtures this term and it is something McCoist's players will have to learn to deal with because refs cannot give the Light Blues special treatment. Any lunges that could cause injury should, of course, be dealt with swiftly and harshly, though. Some Ibrox players may not like it but there is no doubt the tactic will continue to be used by their Third Division rivals for the remainder of the campaign. STAMP IT OUT says MATTHEW LINDSAY T ...
