African History is a certainty, not just in February or October, but forever more. Slavery might have debased our history, but there are great things that we should be proud of. Our heroes and sheroes that have sacrificed their lives amongst Africans on the planet earth such as George Caruthers, Andrew Beard, Fred Jones, Otis Boykin, Dan Hale Williams, George Washington Carver, Augustus Jackson, Garrett A. Morgan, Bessie Coleman, Madame CJ Walker, Sarah Goode, Amiri Baraka, Gil Scott Heron, Gwen Brooks, Jessie Fauset, Claude McKay, James Weldon Johnson, Ethel Waters, Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Marion Anderson and even Mahalia Jackson. Arthur Wharton beat racism to kick a ball and had opened the doors to Clyde Best, Cyril Regis, John Barnes, Roger Palmer, Viv Anderson, Howard Gayle, David Rocastle, Ian Wright and Clarke Carlisle. Harold Moody apart from owing his general medical practice, he uplifted Africans in the UK to fight for our human rights especially during the Notting Hi ...

=:: Happy birthday Ray Parlour (7 March 1973 - 7 March 2013) and here he's speaking about his Arsenal life ::= ***Ray, let’s start by talking about January, as it was a very important month for you. Yes it was my debut back in January 1992. A very special and proud moment for me having come through the Arsenal system as a young kid dreaming I would one day make my first-team debut. And there I was pulling the shirt on. It didn’t get much tougher than playing at Liverpool in those days and it was such a great buzz walking out at Anfield with the Kop singing; the atmosphere was unbelievable. I remember it as if it was yesterday and although I gave a penalty away and the result [Arsenal lost 2-0] wasn’t good it’s still a very special memory playing alongside the late David Rocastle, who was a fantastic player and a great influence on my career. Pat Rice was also a real big help as my youth team manager and Tony Adams, George Graham and Arsène Wenger all played their parts in my development. George w ...
Here's a question for all you GOONERS!! I want to know which Arsenal players made you really sad when sold to other clubs by our managers in the past and present and why!! I'll name a few for me. David Rocastle, Anders Limpar, Paul Merson , Cesc and RVP upset me the most. -Alex
All the news and gossip from The Emirates over the past 24 hours. Arsenal new boy Olivier Giroud has claimed he has had a better start to his career than that of Robin Van Persie. Giroud has pointed out that he has already scored more goals in his debut season then the Dutchman did in his first season in North London. In 2004-05 RVP managed 10 goals in 41 appearances while Giroud has already scored 14 goals in 33 games this season. However Van Persie was only 21 in his debut term compared to Giroud’s 26 while the Dutchman also played the majority of his games out wide. Bacary Sagna has once again made it clear that he has absolutely no intention of leaving Arsenal this summer. The French international has been consistently linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and has refused to sign a contract extension. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2014 but Sagna insists he will honour his current deal. Ashley Cole has revealed that a chat with Arsenal legend David Rocastle was a major ...
On this day in 1988 two goals by Paul Merson plus another from David Rocastle gave a 3-0 First Div win at home to Middlesbrough.
Arsenal FC *** being a great club from the bottom. They've had far more greater achievements before. Let's retrogress a little just before Venger came, there were David Rocastle with Ian Wright, Tony Adams, David Seaman etc., who carried the team's great mantle. Arsen Venger is just a pale shadow of himself who's still experimenting with the club, funny huh. It's surprising seeing him at his job till date ,and rubbing shoulders with the likes Barcelona, ManUtd, and Madrid. Should have been fired long time. He's the woes of the club ,and if he wants to make profits for club, then I advice the mangement start trading at the NYSE or LSE. I encourage all the club fans to rally for him to get fired.
Ian Wright: "I went to David Rocastle's house that night and we stayed up till 4 in the morning talking about Arsenal, a club he loved."
Ian Wright meets Mo Farah IW: Who were the players around at the time? MF: It was you! Then Tony Adams, Lee Dixon, Michael Thomas and David Rocastle — all of them. I also remember the stuff with you and Peter Schmeichel back in 1997. (Wrighty and the Manchester United goalkeeper had a long-running feud and in February 1997 were involved in a tunnel bust-up after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at Highbury. Schmeichel accused the striker of a two-footed lunge on him. Three months earlier at Old Trafford Wrighty claimed that Schmeichel had subjected him to racial abuse. The two eventually made their peace and escaped any disciplinary action from the FA.) IW: The thing with that, Mo, is that me and Peter made up after about a week. The way Alex Ferguson and the lawyers at Manchester United and Arsenal were going at it, they didn’t get us to meet. But me and Peter, through Paul Ince, spoke and sorted it all out. I was a striker and all I wanted to do was score past him — so much. But he wanted to make sure I nev ...
