Ronaldo beats Messi, Neuer to Ballon d’Or Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named world footballer of the year after winning the Ballon d’Or for the second year in a row. The Portugal captain beat Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to the award. Wolfsburg and Germany midfielder Nadine Kessler was named women’s player of the year, while Colombia’s James Rodriguez won goal of the year. The three candidates for the Ballon d’Or were all picked in the team of the year, along with defenders Phillip Lahm, David Luiz, Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos, midfielders Andres Iniesta, Toni Kroos and Angel Di Maria and forward Arjen Robben. Meanwhile, Germany manager Joachim Low was named FIFA Coach of the Year at the ceremony. A huge favourite for the award, Low led Germany to the World Cup after a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final. Before that came an unforgettable demolition of Brazil in the semi-finals, when Die Mannschaft hit seven past the hosts. Low ...
David Luiz, Thiago Silva & Andres Iniesta picked for FIFPro World XI, as UEFA.com users' members Diego Godín, David Alaba & Zlatan Ibrahimovic miss out. Which dream team would you rather manage?
Thiago Silva and David Luiz were awarded with a spot, but were not able to attend the ceremony. Pedro Pauleta, PSG Representative, took their prize.
Am I the only one who think Ballon d'or have been full of politics and corruption? First of all, Fifpro World XI. David Luiz, Thiago Silva and Iniesta for not a reason. But then Ballon d'or winner. Okay, Ronaldo maybe deserved it but look at the margin! 37% votes for Ronaldo and 15% votes for Messi? While there is a very small difference in stats of both of them in 2014! There has been something wrong in Ballon d'or! Believe me!
niko13 st etienne-psg st etienne was lucky on sturday night , only won because the goalkeeper was on fire i think tonight psg will win , saturday games was an accident even if it s not easy to win in corsica , it was 2-0 after 20 minutes and then a miracle happened for bastia today i think psg will be very focus , st etienne always give problem to psg but tonight i think it will be different imo the value is on Paris Saint-Etienne : Ruffier - Théophile-Catherine, Bayal, Perrin (cap), Tabanou - Clément, Lemoine, Cohade, Hamouma, Monnet-Paquet - Erding PSG : Sirigu - van der Wiel, Thiago Silva (cap), David Luiz, Digne - Verratti, Thiago Motta, Matuidi - Lucas, Pastore, Ibrahimovic - source foot365

EUROPEAN NEW SIGNINGS BEST ELEVEN: 1 Thibaut Courtois- the Belgian had an unforgettable season with Athletico Madrid after helping them to the unprecedented La liga title and Champions League final. Despite having two of the most experienced goalkeepers in Mark Schwaertzer and Petr Cech, Mourhino had no choice but to recalls the young man who kept Lionel Messi at bay on six occasions. Court gets the nod ahead of new Real Madrid & Barcelona new signings of Navas and Bravo. 2 Serge Aurier- (PSG), most fullbacks can overlap the whole 90 minutes and play in those crosses for center forwards to get to end of but what makes the Ivorian wingback indispensable it's his ability to score and create goals for his teammates. Aurier who replaced Eboue in the Elephants line-up wil complete the principal club's back four along with Brazilian trio of Maxwell, Thiago Silva & David Luiz. The rampaging wingback beats new Arsenal right back Debuchy & his predecessor Sagna of Man City. 3 Felipe Luis (Chelsea) the uncompromi . ...

Latest transfers: 2014/2015 Robert Lewandowski had been common knowledge for some time, but his transfer from Borussia Dortmund, for whom he had starred since 2010, to German rivals Bayern Munich was officially completed at the beginning of July. David Luiz, is also on the move, joining up with his Brazilian compatriot Thiago Silva at Paris Saint-Germain. David Villa committed himself to newly-established New York City FC, set for an MLS debut in March 2015, and will keep in shape by turning out for Australian side Melbourne City (formerly Melbourne Heart) in the meantime Diego Costa, who will try to put his World Cup woes behind him at Chelsea, where he will rub shoulders with international team-mate Cesc Fabregas, who returns to London three years after leaving Arsenal for Barcelona. David Luiz and Thiago Silva brothers from day one
Thiago Silva and David Luiz are not as strong as people said.
Goals from Robin Van Persie, Daley Blind and Georginio Wijnaldum saw Netherlands beat Brazil 3-0 to finish third in the 2014 World Cup. Van Persie put Netherlands ahead in the third minute from the penalty spot after Arjen Robben had been felled by Thiago Silva. Blind added the second on 16 minutes after David Luiz headed Jonathan de Guzman's cross into his path. Wijnaldum put the seal on the Dutch victory, slotting home a cross from substitute Darryl Janmaat in injury time. Brazil were then booed off the pitch in Brasilia as their disappointing World Cup campaign ended in another humiliating defeat. After a poor first-half showing, the hosts improved slightly after the break, thanks mainly to the efforts of Oscar, who was booked for diving when he had a strong penalty shout following a challenge by Blind. Louis van Gaal's men were strong in defence all night, though. The same could not be said for the hosts, who were jeered after watching their team suffer back-to- back defeats on home soil for the first ...
3rd Place Mach : After drubbing in semifinal, was looking for Scolari to field some new players with new formation and combination. Didn't see much in that front. Generally both teams play entertaining football in this match, without fear of losing; to certain extent it was there. Down 0-2 in 16th minute, one would have thought a repeat of sorts. In the end it was not as bad. Scoreline sometimes doesn't say the full story though. Brazil created chances, but didn't take them. They do not have a very good recipe at the moment, yet continued playing entertaining football. Thiago Silva - The return was not very sweet. Could have been red-carded early in the game. David Luiz - Great assist in the 2nd goal. Van Persie or Dirk Kuiyt would have been proud to keep the ball at 12 yards the way david luiz did for their team-mates who was following it. Oscar - Kept his best for this game. Too little too late. Joe - Being center forward his primary role was to be inside the box and waiting for opportunities. He is sup ...

Thiago Silva comforting David Luiz after the game yesterday.
Not so sure why everyone is so shocked. David Luiz must be the worst positional defender the game has seen and he was captain???...Neymar was not the loss they should have been crying about,Thiago Silva was...add to that QPR' s reserve keeper and Fred and all of a sudden it all makes sense!
So many things can be attributed to Brazil humiliation yesterday; ineffective attack and shambolic defending made d midfield look ordinary, the attacking trio of hulk, Fred and Bernard is arguably d weakest in dis tournament with zero goals in 6 games, the absence of Thiago Silva exposed David Luiz whom av neva believed is a centre back, Dante was a shadow of himself all night. Of all these, I chose to heap the whole blame on Big Phil, he might have a genuine reason to start Bernard ahead of willian but he lost dis game by letting the Brazilians step their foot off d pedal. How he decided to play sexy football instead of the tough tackling style that has pushed dem dis far baffles me, he bowed to media criticism and paid dearly for it. Man-man comparison, Brazil are not match for this German side, why on earth would u go and struggle for possession against a side good in build up play and ruthless on the counter. He went ahead to etch his name in d -ve side of d history book by refusing to accept defeat e ...
Jogo bonito, RIP It was stunning and unbelievable! It seems only Thiago Silva is the glue in the Brazil back and Neymar the only tooth! Rest of Brazilian team looked like a school team Brazilians were not closing down quickly enough on the left-hand side. Fernandinho was not seen anywhere, Marcello was never going back with the ball. David Luiz was not even tackling anybody. A sad day for the game :(
Massa, read excerpts of your man, Paul Merson's preview before the match. I just love the Dante bit in the 2nd paragraph: "Thiago Silva will be a massive miss in this game because it leaves David Luiz and probably Dante, who everyone goes on about but isn’t really that good, at centre-half. "Dante plays at Bayern Munich where week after week in Germany no-one has a go at him, but when he came up against Real Madrid in the Champions League, he didn’t know what day it was. "He is nowhere near as good as Thiago Silva and all the German players will know his weaknesses and how to get at him, so him and David Luiz at the back? Germany will be licking their lips."
The reality of defeat hits David Luiz and Thiago Silva
David Luiz doesn't know who to mark without Thiago Silva beside.
David Luiz says he can cope with pressure of captaining Brazil via
I want a friendship like David Luiz and Thiago Silva 😀
So get ready to fasten your seat belts because The World Cup Fever is back with the semi Finals starting tonight. It's the First semifinal of the 2014 FIFA World Cup as European Heavyweights Germany take on the host nation Brazil the Samba boys as we call them. Brazil will be without Neymar who is out with a broken vertebrae and will take at least 4-6 weeks to recover. They are also without their talismanic captain Thiago Silva because of suspension for getting booked in two consecutive games. David Luiz to take over the captaincy. Willian it seems will come in place Of Neymar. No injury scares and issues from The German camp as of now. Still would like to call it a 50-50 battle but obviously a little tempted to give a slight advantage To Germany. Although wounded tigers can be dangerous. Match is at 01.30 IST In the early hours of Wednesday morning. Live from Belo Horizonte live and exclusive on SIX AND SIX High Definition. Come in and show your support for your favourite teams and check which team has m ...
“Childhood friends David Luiz and Thiago Silva have both scored for Brazil tonight.
Its not Neymar Jr., Brazil will miss Thiago Silva today. All lights now on David Luiz
No Thiago Silva and Neymar Jr. all responsibility on David Luiz-captain :) (y)
FIFA UPHOLDS T.SILVA SUSPENSION AS LUIS CAPTAINS: FIFA will not rescind the yellow card Brazil captain Thiago Silva received in the World Cup quarter-final against Colombia and David Luiz will captain the team against Germany. Brazil appealed against Silva’s caution, but – as expected – they were not successful so former Chelsea man Luiz will take the armband in Tuesday’s semi-final. FIFA's disciplinary committee refused to consider the appeal - appeals against yellow cards are only permitted in exceptional circumstances. Thiago picked up the caution against Colombia, imposed after he blocked goalkeeper David Ospina taking a kick, and as it was his second of the tournament he was automatically suspended.
Truth be told, Neymar had not played well in either of Brazil games in the knockout stages so far. He scored four goals, of course, but it was worrying to see David Luiz and Thiago Silva hitting long balls to him instead of trying to work things through the midfield. But Neymar can always offer a great outlet for Brazil on the break N they need to play as a team tonyt

Brazil Vs. Colombia Match Preview : BRAZIL 2-1 COLOMBIA (Thiago Silva 7', David Luiz 68'; Rodriguez [pen] 78') PLAYER RATINGS: Julio Cesar - 7 -Scolari's trusted man gave away a late penalty but his distribution was reliable throughout. Maicon - 6.5 -Brought into the side at the expense of Dani Alves, the AS Roma defender had a good first half before fading. Marcelo - 6.5-Like his fellow wing back, began the game well before tiring near the end. A positive attacking outlet as always. Thiago Silva - 8 -Captain's performance that included the opening goal. Will be a huge loss in the next game with Germany, which he misses through suspension. David Luiz - 9 -Superb 90 minutes from the free kick hero. His dead ball accuracy and power almost took the game away from Colombia and he showed defensive intelligence the entire game. Fernandinho - 6 -A workmanlike performance from the Manchester City man, who did Luiz Gustavo's job to the best of his ability. Paulinho - 6 -Brought back into the team because of Gustav ...
Thiago Silva & David Luiz help race past Rodríguez.' 80th min Salvo didn't help much as the Hosts are placed against Relentless in the Semi's!! But OMG... that's Neymar Jr. down and Brazil's lost him for the rest of FIFA World Cup!! How big a problem is that for Luiz Felipe Scolari??

put Thiago Silva & David Luiz up top and put Jo & Fred as center backs. That will solve everything!
In the quarter finals, Germany and Brazil emerge to face each other in the semifinals. Germany-France: This was a forgettable match. Central defender Mats Hummels scores an early goal and Germany goes on to win 1-0. France did not show the urgency you expect from a team facing elimination. We'll never know what effect the absence of their creative winger Franck Ribery had on their performance. So adieu to Le Bleus. They played well and will be one of the favorites for Euro 2016. Brazil-Columbia: Again, defenders provide the goals. Thiago Silva scores early from a corner and David Luiz scores on a beautiful free kick halfway through the 2nd half. A late penalty converted by star striker James Rodriguez made for an exciting ending, but Brazil holds on for the win. That gives Rodriguez a goal in every match and 6 goals in 5 matches. As with France, Columbia has had to play the whole tournament without their best striker, the injured Radamel Falcao. Columbia were entertaining and they should do well in the Co ...
Thiago Silva and David Luiz.error-free goals.and its Brazeel. While defending from numerous goals to enter their goalpost Colombians unfortunately had no time to get a goal for themselves.
David Luiz and Thiago Silva are a frightening combination.
People try to not support a team after saw how handsome a player is. Many of them support Brazil just because Neymar is handsome and so other team can't defeat Brazil. Well remember , it is not because he is handsome or so on but it is because he got his talent to bring the game in a way to win on. If just because Neymar , Brazil can win all the games means then I think when Thiago Silva and David Luiz had their goal last night it can't be counted as a goal at all. So please stop chalenging other team with the name Of 'MY NEYMAR WILL NEVER LET BRAZIL LOSE' ! It means if you people saw Neymar is playing in other team on next Fifa then you guys gonna stop supporting 'BRAZIL' and jump to support other team because Neymar is there isn't it ??? Try to respect a persons talent and support them not for how they look alike. People who watch and supports a team without knowing who is playing in it is better then people who is supporting a team because they know the player in it are just too HANDSOME !!! This is be ...
David Luiz wonderstrike sends hosts through after Thiago Silva's early goal now they gonna meet Germany in the semi - final BRAZIL :)
FIFA World Cup recap: The 1st 2 game of the quarterfinals were played today. In the 1st game of the day, Germany defeated France 1-0. Germany's goal came in the 12 minute. Miroslav Klose scored when Germany delivered the ball In off a corner kick. So, Germany would play the winner of Brazil and Columbia. Brazil ended up defeating Columbia by the score of 2-1. The 1st goal Brazil scored was scored in the 7th minute when Neymar Jr. crossed a corner kick in the box and Thiago Silva scored with his knee. Then, in the 67 minute, David Luiz scored off a free kick. Bad news for Brazil as Neymar Jr. came off the field on a stretcher. He likely to miss the next game against Germany.
Brazil made its way into the World Cup semifinals for the first time in 12 years by beating Colombia 2-1 with the goals coming from defenders Thiago Silva and David Luiz. :) viva... brszilia. (Y)

Seems like apart from Thiago Silva and David Luiz other players don't have surnames.
Earlier on, PSG's Thiago Silva and David Luiz qualified for the QFs on penalties for Brazil over Chile. Maxwell did not feature.
Exactly. David Luiz can't flop in Paris, not when he's playing with Thiago Silva. How can? PSG get sense.
mate I'm as hard as David Luiz and thiago silva put together 👊
if David Luiz is worth £50mil,then Thiago Silva must be worth more than Bill Gates

I liked a video Celebrate in Brasilian style with Neymar Jr., David Luiz & Thiago Silva
better love story than twilight and the David Luiz and Thiago Silva pic
My computer background is Thiago Silva, David Luiz and Neymar.
Thiago Silva & David Luiz combination is better than Verane & Sakho and yet people still clam that have the worst defence
i hate him and his playing style is garbage. Only 3 good players in Brazil; David Luiz, Thiago Silva, and Oscar.
David Luiz and Thiago Silva. Started from the bottom.
'It's an absolute piece of *** You won't believe what they pay you for doing nothing!' Thiago Silva to David Luiz and Dani Alves.
Dani Alves and David Luiz should just leave their respective clubs for PSG to link up with Thiago Silva.
WATCH FOR TEAMS THAT "MATTER" Chelsea watch : Oscar, man of the match, 90mins appearance, 1 goal. Ramires : 87:44 minute substitute. Came in, to add steel to the Brazilian game, as they were under continuous pressure from the Croatians, after a jst disallowed goal. Played at least 4mins of the game, came in handy. David Luiz : Chelsea / PSG, ROCK SOLID! PSG Watch : Thiago Silva, Minister of defence. Saw out the game. Barcelona watch : Neymar, 2 goals, 2 much dribbles, 2 much trouble for the Croatian defence, 2 many key passes, 2 loud clapping ovation, as he made his way off the pitch, when substituted, 2much Samba. # CLASS! Dani Alves : 90 mins and over, was instrumental as well. He & Oscar, literally owned the wing. Ah! Srna, je iya! Ivan Rakitic : A bad day in the office, for the undisputed, Fc Seville player of the year. But he wasn't completly ran-over. He made his physical presence felt, and he made too many key fouls & tackles, without being booked. Real Madrid watch : Marcelo 11 minute O.g. Made ti ...
The Brazil's national team is pretty overrated for lack of a better word. Like look at the defence; David Luiz is a big flop, Thiago Silva is not the super defender we are made to believe he is, Daniel Alves leaks big and Dante to me is not appealing!! Neither is their striking the best with Neymah skewing towards modelling than footballing, Hulk and Fred are average...to sum it all, only two things can save Brazil 1)Home ground advantage 2)Individual brilliance from the likes of Oscar
Brazil Vs Croatia player ratings Brazil Julio Cesar: 6.5/10 Cesar wasn’t called on much, as Croatia preferred to sit back and absorb all Brazilian pressure. But, on the few occasions that he was tested, cesar responded magnificently. His highlight of the day was a good low save from a rasping drive by Ivan Perisic. Dani Alves: 7/10 Alves was a constant threat down the right flank, with his pace and poise on the ball providing plenty of problems for Sime Vrsaljko. He always provided an outlet for the midfielders to spray the ball to, and was tireless in his work. Thiago Silva: 6/10 Silva was solid, if unspectacular. His job is to command his troops, bellow out orders for the defenders to follow, and see off any threat to the goal. Silva did all that was asked of him in a very unassuming manner. David Luiz: 7/10 Luiz was more in the thick of the action than his defensive partner, Luiz made a few crucial blocks and interceptions, and overall, complemented Silva brilliantly. Luiz could have had a goal for h ...
Five pointers from the match. 1,The atmosphere did not disappoint The atmosphere beforehand was extraordinary, even by the standards of Brazil’s fun-loving fans. Those famous yellow shirts masked the many imperfections in this half-finished stadium to provide spine-tingling support for the hosts. But the noise levels went stratospheric whenever Brazil scored. It was incredible, even for a World Cup, to hear a crowd react with quite so much fervour. Looking beyond the stands you could see fireworks exploding right across the city. This tournament badly needs a successful Selecao to maintain momentum and keep the locals engaged. If that success is attained, the ripples spread wide. 2. Can Brazil prevail with this defence? It is a legitimate question when Dani Alves was left stranded upfield as Ivica Olic raced down the left to create Croatia’s goal; when David Luiz failed to get close enough to Nikica Jelavic on the resulting cross, and when Thiago Silva is effectively the only true defender in that vul ...
Brazil x Croatia, a simple analysis: The first goal of the match only could be an own goal, like the heir of the stadium (not owner, because the large part of the money used in the construction is public) really deserves. This incomplete stadium showed primary failures in the illumination, an absolutely inadmissible thing in a World Cup. About the match, Oscar was undoubtedly the man of the match (except by FIFA, that probably has seen another thing different of Brazil x Croatia), carrying in his back not only the Brazilian squad, but almost 200 million people who were worried with the terrible performance of the wingers (specially Daniel Alves Avenue) and acting actively in all goals. The referee Yushi Nishimura also has interfered directly in the score: besides an invented penalty, he could have sent off Neymar when the score was 1x0 (because of a poke in Modric). My marks for the Brazilian players: Júlio César: 5 Daniel Alves: 1 Thiago Silva: 5 David Luiz: 7 Marcelo: 2 Luiz Gustavo: 7 Paulinho: 6 Her ...
Hi Everyone, Come along and watch The FIFA World Cup 2014, the world' biggest sporting spectacle kicks off today and ends on July 13, when the finals is held at iconic Maracana Stadium in Rio De Jeneiro, Brazil. Let's watch the whole world unite and play! Who will win FIFA World Cup? Can you predict the winner? Can you guess? I choose Brazil. Since 1930 till 2010, Brazil had won 5 times the prestigious Cup - 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 & 2002. It had never won the cup in its own country. NOW, Brazil is the host for FIFA World Cup. With the World Cup being held in Brazil, the pressure will be too much for Luiz Felipe Scolari's men. The other competitors are Argentina, England, Italy, Germany, Uruguay, France and Spain. The last FIFA World Cup was won by Spain which was held in South Africa. Brazil has good squad. Coach: Luiz Felipe Scolari. Their Goalkeepers are Julio Cesar, Jefferson and Victor. Defenders: Dante, David Luiz, Henrique, Thiago Silva, Daniel Alves,Maicon, Marcelo and Maxwell. Midfielders: Fe ...

Now the 46-year old is the President of the Croatia FA & hopes his team can better the one he played in. Croatia are no pushovers and so far is leaving everyone guessing with their line up & strategy which may expose the Brazilian weaknesses. The enigma Neymar will be tasked to lead the Samba Boys and their mentality of scoring more than their opponents would be key if they have the tenacity to win a record 6th title. What a start to the tournament it will be and even though my heart says it will be a draw, Brazil could just edge it due to home ground advantage or win with a 2-goal margin. Croatia's Mandzukic is suspended for this match. Prediction : Brazil 1 Croatia 0 Brazil (probable) : Julio Cesar (Toronto FC), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Thiago Silva, David Luiz (both Paris St Ger ...
BRAZIL vs CROATIA PREVIEW THE wait is about to end. In a few hours, millions, if not billions, will tune in to the Greatest Show on Earth! The 2014 World Cup in Brazil is set to kick off with home nation Brazil facing Croatia in the first Group A match. Both teams have looked impressive in friendlies but expectations amd pressure will be high for Brazil. Here is my take of what to expect in the first game: Brazil Luiz Felipe Scolari won the 2002 World Cup with players like Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho and Lucio. This time though, he has selected a good mix of young and experienced players. For this game, expect Scolari to stick with the winning Confederations Cup first XI. Julio Cesar should be the first choice goalie with PSG’s Thiago Silva set to captain the Selecao. Thiago will be partnered in central defence with his club’s new signing David Luiz. Just like Cafu and Roberto Carlos in the 2002 World Cup, expect Daniel Alves and Marcelo to bomb forward and provide crosses for t ...

Which Nation Has The Most Expensive Squad At This Years - This month’s World Cup will see a host of multimillion pound global icons take to football pitches across Brazil, from Barcelona’s Neymar to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard. It is set to be possibly the most money-laden World Cup of all time with the likes of Spain striker Fernando Torres and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo costing in excess of £130m between them and contributing to the collective £3,126,400,000 transfer values of players at this summer’s tournament. But which of the 32 competing nations has the most expensive squad? Based on the last transfers of each of the 736 players travelling to Brazil, here’s how the numbers stack up. Perhaps unsurprisingly with Paris Saint-Germain recently agreeing a £50m fee for defender David Luiz, hosts Brazil top the list, with their squad totalling a staggering £407m. That includes the likes of Thiago Silva – signed by PSG for £34m – Hulk – signed by Zenit St Petersburg for £49m – and Will ...

David Luiz and Thiago Silva are best friends. 😲
PSG: We believe you can never have too many Brazilian defenders (Thiago Silva, Alex, Maxwell, Marquinhos, and now David Luiz)
3. Strong base: In little more than a year in charge of the Brazilian team, Scolari managed to build a base for the team. And in this respect we must give credit to Mano Menezes, who paved the way in the national team for several players who today are important in the backbone of the group that will compete in the World. Júlio César, Daniel Alves, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Marcelo, Paulinho, Oscar, Neymar and Fred, are unquestionable. In fact, the whole selection is well fitted by Scolari some time, so that further discussion before and after the call was in relation to the quarterback. The base itself is ready, it is solid and gives confidence to the rest of the team and the Brazilian fans.
Gentlemen By Michael Cox Sunday 25 May 2014 14.03 BST Brazil 3-1 favourites Considering Luiz Felipe Scolari was appointed 18 months before the tournament with only the Confederations Cup as serious preparation, it is remarkable that he has created an extremely settled starting XI. Scolari has installed a disciplined, reliable spine to the side in a 4-2-3-1 system. The defence is strong, the midfield duo – probably Luiz Gustavo and Paulinho – play functional roles, while Oscar drifts around to create space as No10 and the central striker Fred acts as an unspectacular target man. They are both primarily in the side to bring the best out of Neymar and Hulk, who start from either flank and are allowed to cut inside because of Marcelo’s and Daniel Alves’s overlapping. It is not a classic Brazilian side but they will grind out wins. Likely XI Júlio César; Alves, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Marcelo; Gustavo, Paulinho; Hulk, Oscar, Neymar; Fred. Argentina 5-1 No other squad travelling to Brazil has such o ...
The first reaction is that PSG overpaid wildly. David Luiz is five months older than Thiago Silva was when he made the move to Paris two years ago. For David Luiz to cost anywhere from $10 to $23 million more than his Selecao colleague, he would have to be a whole lot better. (There is some inflation in fees, but not to that degree.) Simply put, he's not. He's not even the same ZIP code. We're talking about a guy who could not beat Gary Cahill and John Terry to a starting spot in Chelsea's lineup. It's not a knock on Chelsea’s centre-backs; it's just a reflection on how the most expensive central defender in the world really ought to find playing time at his preferred position. Instead, he made just 15 Premier League starts, nearly half of them in central midfield. David Luiz is on his way to a new challenge in Paris. Nor is it a case of Jose Mourinho simply failing to appreciate David Luiz's talents. Mourinho's predecessor Rafa Benitez also shunted David Luiz into the middle of the park often. In Benit ...

Psg is gon be sooo good. Cavali and ibrahimovic attacking and David Luiz and thiago silva defending? ***
Transfer Rumours: PSG have completed the capture of David Luiz thus closing all relations that linked the brazilian with FCBarcelona. This however has opened the door to other central defenders who could be in a chance to join the catalan giants. The most common name making the headlines at the moment is Marquinhos. The brazilian will find life difficult at PSG with Alex, Thiago Silva and now David Luiz all playing with the french giants and could see himself in a better position to join the blaugrana especially with Mascherano soon leaving to join Napoli as they are currently negotiating his transfer. This week also saw rumours resurface linking Sanchez to Juve with a possible Llorente + cash deal for Alexis Sanchez. Man Utd. continue their hunt for Cesc Fabregas, with the blaugrana willing to sell should the right offer come along for the spaniard. It looks set to be a busy summer in Barcelona players leaving and players arriving...
David Luiz says he is leaving Chelsea with 'great sadness' after passing his medical and agreeing terms with Paris Saint-Germain ahead of his £50million transfer. The 27-year-old is set to become the world's most expensive defender, with the move beating the two previous highest fees - both paid by PSG, for Marquinhos and Thiago Silva.

Luiz, 27, joined the Blues from Benfica for £21.3m in January 2011. "The move is now subject to David Luiz agreeing personal terms with PSG and passing a medical," a statement on Chelsea's official website. The Brazilian has three years left on the five-year contract he signed at Stamford Bridge in September 2012. Luiz is not part of manager Jose Mourinho's first-choice central defensive pairing and his exit would provide funds to strengthen in other areas, especially as ...
David Luiz Confirms Chelsea Exit in an Emotional Message [Daily Mail]. David Luiz has confirmed his Chelsea exit in an emotional message, as he prepares to join Paris St Germain in a £48 million deal. His statement read: “Thanks Chelsea for the three and half years of great partnership. I’ve made good friends, won many titles and those memories will last with me forever. I’d like to thank my teammates, all staff and supporters (my geezers). I’m leaving with great sadness but at the same time excited for the new challenge that lies ahead.” Luiz will be moving across the Channel in a £40 million deal that could potentially rise to up to £50 million depending upon performances. These include bonuses for winning the league, Champions League, and so on. Even without those bonuses, Luiz becomes the world’s most expensive defender. He goes past PSG’s own Thiago Silva, who cost the club £36 million in 2012. Luiz is yet to pass the medical and agree personal terms, but these are expected to be a ...

David Luiz has praised Chelsea following his proposed move from Stamford Bridge to Paris Saint-Germain. The fee, which could potentially rise to £50m, was agreed on Friday evening - with the Brazilian defender set for a medical later today. Luiz's move is widely expected to be completed by the end of the day, and the 27-year-old has reserved special praise for the west London side. "Thank you Chelsea for 3 years and a half of a great partnership. I gained friends, matches and titles that will always live on in my memory," he told 'Globo Esporte.' Chelseaare reportedly in talks with Paris Saint-Germain about the possibility of selling Brazilian defender David Luiz, it has emerged on Friday. The sources have come from Sky Sports Newsand they say the deal is worth a staggering £50 million. If the deal goes through, it will make Luiz the most expensive defender in football history overtaking potentially his new team mate Thiago Silva who signed for PSG from AC Milan. Success Luiz has been at The Blues for just over three years now, signing back in January 2011 for around £22 million and he has won the Champions League, FA Cup and Europa league in his time in England. The Brazilian has been somewhat of a controversial character that has brought many highs and many lows in his time with Chelsea. Of course as mentioned he has won some big trophies, he has scored some very good and important goals but his defensive style has been widely criticised over the years which has seen him change positions from centre back to defensive midfielder where he has d ...

So PSG are signing David Luiz because Thiago Silva is leaving to go Barcelona this summer. I've seen it Guillem Balague knows everything.
Marca now reporting that Diego Costa will play after passing a fitness test during the training session, pepe has looked good from a brief look in training to me news,if David Luiz goes for £40 - £50m then this will be the craziest window ever poor business marquihos is a great young defender they bought too high from roma TOP 10: Most expensive defenders (£) 1. Thiago Silva (AC Milan to PSG) - 35.3m 2. Marquinhos (Roma to PSG) - 30.1m 3. Rio Ferdinand (Leeds to Man United) - 30m 4. Alessandro Nesta (Lazio to AC Milan) 26.1m 5. Pepe (Porto to Real Madrid) - 25.2m 6. Fabio Coentrao (Benfica to Real) - 25.2m 7. Dani Alves (Sevilla to Barcelona) - 23.5m 8. Lillian Thuram (Parma to Juventus) - 22m 9. David Luiz (Benfica to Chelsea) - 21.3m 10. Ricardo Carvalho (Porto to Chelsea) - 20m
And in other news, PSG are in advanced talks to sign David Luiz for between 40-50m to partner 35m signing Thiago Silva while they have 27m Marquinhos (20) on the bench. They are exceeding initial offers of 30-35m because of Barcelona and Bayern's interest and they want to get the deal done ASAP. Absolutely absurd and what a way to abuse money... a week after getting hit with FFP sanctions. this is gonna be interesting.
CHELSEA DEFENDER LUIZ CONFESSES PSG ADMIRATION, Chelsea defender David Luiz has admitted his admiration for PSG. Luiz is close to PSG stopper and Brazil teammate Thiago Silva. "I love playing with him wherever he is," Luiz told Telefoot . "Even on the street when we were young, it would suit me too (to play with him). On PSG, he added: "This is a big club now, he works thoroughly to win the Champions League and they will win Ligue 1 for many years to come."
I dont want David Luiz at Barça he is not good... If we get Kompany or Thiago Silva it would be perfect. If not get Hummels or Agger.
Brazil's team was officially announced. 1. I was pretty dead on 2. This team is stacked Jesus. Goalies: Julio Cesar, Vitor, Jefferson Defence: Dani Alves, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Dante, Maicon, Maxwell Mid: Oscar, Ramires, Willian, Luiz Gustavo, Paulinho, Hernanes Forwards: Hulk, Jo, Fred, Neymar, Bernard Notable absences: Kaka, Ronaldinho, Felipe Luiz, Pato, Diego, Coutinho, Alex, Marquinhos Its funny how Brazil can still make a disgusting B and C team with the players that didnt make it. Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari on Thursday revealed eight of his squad for the World Cup, including four skippers, while adding he has no concerns with the form of striker Neymar. Two weeks before officially unveiling his final squad, Scolari said he was appointing Thiago Silva of Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea's David Luiz, Julio Cesar of MLS side Toronto and Fluminense striker Fred as his four captains. He added he was also picking Chelsea trio Willian, Oscar and Ramires and Tottenham's Paulinho. Scolari reveals some of World Cup squad supersport.com

Paulinho, Luiz, Oscar and Willian get World Cup nods from Brazil boss Scolari Dan Coombs 2 hours ago Chelsea and Tottenham stars have been given a welcome boost from Brazilboss Luiz Scolari. Brazil are under more pressure than ever before this summer as they bid to win the World Cupon home soil, having failed on their only previous attempt in 1950. They have turned to 2002 World Cup winning manager Luiz Scolari to guide them to success, and his planning is already moving forward. Scolari is claimed to have decided on eight of his 23 squad places for the tournament already, and it's largely Premier Leaguestars who benefit. L'Equipereport: "The Brazilian coach has lifted some of the suspense Thursday revealing eight names: Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Julio Cesar, Fred, Willian, Oscar, Ramires and Paulinho." That suggests Scolari is very impressed with what he has seen from Chelsea this season, with four of the eight belonging to the Blues, with Paulinho of Tottenham also assured of his place. Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed nine players who will make Brazil's squad for the World Cup at home. They are David Luiz, Oscar, Ramires, Willian, Paulinho, Julio Cesar, Thiago Silva, Fred and Neymar.
Just yesterday, the Brazilian team coach to the World Cup in the samba nation,Felipe Scolari stated that he has already known his 23 man squad to the mundial. He has even named his motley crew of captains in Thiago Silva,David Luiz,Fred and Julius Cesar. The list will be submitted to FIFA on May 7th. Return to Nigeria and a committee is still dilly dallying on a purported 38 man list submitted by Keshi. They have asked the Big Boss to prune his list to 30. What value will a committee add to the work of Keshi? This is gross interference. After vetting by the committee,a presidential task force has been muted to oversee the affairs of Keshi and his boys in Brazil! This is a recipe for disaster! I will not be surprise if we wobble and fumble in Brazil! Given a responsibility, let them allow Keshi to do his job. The man has a track record of achievements starting from his time with the Togolese team. We keep on doing the same thing for decades and we have failed woefully. What makes the NFA think that doing the ...

BACK HUNTING A five-man wishlist With long-standing top target Thiago Silva unavailable, Barcelona's scouts have set their sights on a group of five youngish centre-backs they believe would fit right in at the club. David Luiz (Chelsea), Aymeric Laporte (Athletic), Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal), Iñigo Martínez (Real Sociedad) and Fabian Schar (Basel) are the men being eyed up by the Catalan giants. The usual suspects There are also several other centre-backs who have long been linked with Barcelona but who look unlikely to join because of their cost and/or wages. These include Thiago Silva (PSG), Mats Hummels (Dortmund), Daniel Agger (Liverpool), Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal), Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham) and Marquinhos (PSG). The Mirror says while Chelsea are confident of landing Atletico Madrid 's £45million Spain striker Diego Costa, more cash will be needed to help pay for a planned revamp, with Luiz - along with mis-firing Fernando Torres - the two most valuable commodities manager Jose Mourinho is happy to offload. World Cup 2014: WHO IS GOING? With the play-offs now almost completed, and all but one of the 32 teams that will compete at next summer's World Cup finals in Brazil now known, the Blues will be well represented in South America. Here, the official Chelsea website takes a look at which of our players are likely to feature in one of the world's biggest sporting events, as well as looking back at how they - and their nations - have fared at past tournaments… Hosts Brazil will go into the tournament with the weight of the country's expectations on their shoulders, buoyed by their success in the Confederations Cup, which they secured last summer courtesy of a 3-0 win over world champions Spain in the final. David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires are regulars in their national side's squad, with the former taking the captain's armband in the absence of Thiago Silva, while Willian was called up to the most recent squad and marked his first appearance for Brazil in two years with a goal in their 5-0 victory over Hondura ...
Willian scored his first goal for Brazil as they comfortably defeated Honduras 5-0 in Miami, with our three other Brazilians also featuring. David Luiz captained the side in the absence of Thiago Silva, and went close to scoring with a header in the first half. He was replaced with 73 minutes played, by which time Brazil were four goals up. Oscar also started the game, making way for Ramires in the 65th minute. The latter went close to adding a sixth late on but his dinked effort was well saved. But it was Willian who had the greatest impact on the game following his 47th minute introduction. It was his cross that Dante, the Bayern Munich defender, converted in the 55th minute to double Brazil's advantage, Bernard having opened the scoring in the first period. Maicon netted a third before Willian , playing in his first game for Brazil since 2011, got in on the act himself, neatly converting a Hulk cut-back on 70 minutes to make the score 4-0. Hulk added a fifth to ensure another emphatic Brazil friendly w ...

Barcelona Ready to Launch Bid For Chelsea Defender David Luiz Barcelona are understood to be readying a bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz, according to ESPN. Barcelona have been tracking the Brazilian defender for some time now, and are ready to make a bid for the player, who must be worth upwards of £30m, as Chelsea are unwilling to sell him. The Spanish giants have turned their attentions to Luiz, 26, after their efforts to sign PSG defender Thiago Silva have been rebuffed by the club. Luiz’s style is suiting of the Spanish game, and Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the player. Although he takes an unorthodox approach to his performances, it can be say that Luiz is somewhat of an enigma, possessing all the necessary physical tools to succeed as a footballer, yet without the tactical awareness to adapt to every situation. Able to play as both a centre back and defensive midfielder, Luiz’s attacking flair and defensive capabilities makes him a great fit in Spain, whilst Champions L ...

This is going viral in Brazil: David Luiz and Thiago Silva as kids -
Cavani shows his class at last Chelsea transfer target, Edinson Cavani was silent during the group games against World champions, Spain and Champions of Africa, Nigeria against whom he was marked out of the game by Chelsea-owned 19 year-old Nigerian, Kenneth Omeruo. He was then unceremoniously dropped against everyone's favourite team, Tahiti. Cavani silenced critics with his performance against Brazil. His work rate during the match was incredible and Thiago Silva and David Luiz struggled to contain hIM. He thoroughly deserved his goal, some lackadaisical defending by Brazil and Cavani pounced on the ball with his left foot straight into bottom corner, a real striker's goal. Can we then say Omeruo is better than Luiz? Football is sometimes like that. That's not to say Omeruo isn't quality, he's an extremely talented lad. David Luiz, Oscar and Brazil are into the final. Luiz had a bad night - a penalty away too -while Oscar had a quiet evening. It wasn't just them, the whole Brazil squad was in shambles. ...

HARD TACKLE Barcelona continues its relentless search for a centre-back. Having ruled out other options, the cub's technical staff is now considering Arsenal's 27-year-old French international, Laurent Koscielny. His price of around €15m would help to finalise a deal. Barcelona may already have contacted Arsenal to start negotiations for the player and the Londoners would not be averse to his departure. Andoni Zubizarreta admires his versatility at the back and believes that he would adapt perfectly to Barça's playing style. The Catalan club see him as an ideal option, having already looked into other, more complicated transfer targets like Thiago Silva, Vincent Kompany and David Luiz. QUESTION Is Laurent Koscielny really the man for Barcelona?

Paris St Germain are planning a swoop for Chelsea defender David Luiz to partner Thiago Silva
Last nite Brazil's performance & the stars really surprised me! Except Neymar & Marcelo, the finesse in leg-work was missing in the attacking line-up. On the contrary, the defense has real quality performers in Thiago Silva, David Luiz & team... I don't know but I suspect that may be, Scholari is trying to emulate 90's team of West Germany! Its very different Brazilian outfit as compared to the past!
You would think a game ending 3-0 would be exciting to watch. Japan and Brazil both played horridly today. The pitch was terribly kept, and the ball was bouncing like crazy. I don't know what was worse, the lack of intensity from Japan, the relaxed Barcelona-esque style of play from Brazil, or the lack of quality of the field. Brazil: I thought Neymar's opener was beautiful, and thought Brazil would turn on more style throughout the game. Don't even get me started on how many easy pases they messed up. Each goal was just a flash of brilliance from the players involved. Let's face it: Brazil don't play well when it's not joga bonito. Standout player: Hulk dominated the first half and was wonderful, but Oscar looked so free and fluid with and without the ball. Honorable mention to Luiz Gustavo, David Luiz, and Thiago Silva. Flop(s): There were a few, but here is who I felt sucked: Neymar-brilliant goal and good dribbling skills, but drifted in and out of the game and was subbed out due to what looked like a ...

Centre backs linked to Barcelona whom the club WILL NOT BUY this summer: Thiago Silva, Hummels, Vermaelen, and David Luiz. If these are the players that they don't wanna buy then who're the ones that they actually want to buy?! :/ - Punk

Matt Hummels.Thiago Silva.David Luiz good idea for new defender...

David Luiz,Thiago Silva,Mats Hummels and Neymar. Would like to see 2 or 3 of the above in a Qatar Airways branded Barça shirt next season.
I swear if Barca could only sign Thiago Silva & David Luiz oh SH!t that would b awesome...
I liked a Youtube video by ...FIFA FIGHT - David Luiz vs Thiago Silva!
If Brazil put Thiago Silva and Dante in central defense and put David Luiz as holding mid right in front of them, they'll be solid.
David Luiz and Thiago Silva is one *** of a combo for Brazil. If only Luiz could get in shape, he'd be perfect
The problem is Thiago Silva & David Luiz do well enough together for Brazil, he would need one of them to be out for ..+
Ronaldinho called up for Brazil squad to face Chile on 24th April. Kaka, Julio Cesar, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Dante, Oscar, Marcelo, Ramires, Lucas Moura are all omitted from the squad. Neymar, Pato, Paulinho, Andre Santos, Damiao remains in the team.
So far,I could see their defensive approaches were good. Thiago Silva,David Luiz and Dante. But they're still lacking of Lucio-esque kinds
I would have Dedé + Thiago Silva starting, David Luiz + Miranda on bench. Fernando is good, marks well, but he is getting overrated+
Dante wasn't really great either though, and David Luiz and Thiago Silva are used to playing together.
Hulk, Marcelo, Thiago Silva, David Luiz and Kaka are all playing tonight!!!
Dante, Thiago Silva, Dede, Felipe Santana & David Luiz, not that much pace anyway.

Dede has been cut from Brazil (abdominal pains). David Luiz, Dante and Thiago Silva are now the only defenders left in the squad.
Yes, Dante and David Luiz expected to start, but Thiago Silva might start instead of Dante..
not as good as David Luiz, Dante and Thiago Silva for sure.
Felipão tried 3 at the back with David Luiz, Dante and Thiago Silva, reports say that he didnt like it.
- Oscar has established himself in the squad. I prefer Dedé and Thiago Silva to start but David Luiz has done well.
plus players like Thiago Silva and David Luiz have done it and they’re Pretty good at it.
I know everybody loves David Luiz, no kidding. But still Dante is going to be Thiago Silva's pairing in WC2014.
Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Lucio are just some good ones off the top of my head.
IF Thiago Silva and IF David Luiz, come to me
...HOLD IT. It's an In Form CDM David Luiz. That'll hurt it. Maybe 100k. Thiago Silva will be 500k though at least.
