[Video] Jose Mourinho Exclusive: Nothing fair about UEFA's FFP rules manager Jose Mourinho has attacked UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules, calling them a "contradiction" that protect European football's established giants. Mourinho has watched the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United spend hundreds of millions in recent summers, bringing in players like Gareth Bale, Luiz Suarez and Angel Di Maria. However Mourinho's Chelsea - whose overall financial strength is less - have had to spend more sensibly to meet FFP rules which require clubs to balance their books. Chelsea spent £93m in the summer on stars including Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, but recouped nearly all of it through the sales of David Luiz, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba. Asked about the challenge of keeping up with their big-spending rivals, Mourinho told Eurosport-Yahoo: "I think Financial Fair Play is a contradiction because, when football decided to go for Financial Fair Play it was exactly to put teams in equal conditions to ...

TRUE CONFESSION; MANU, BARCA N REALMADRID ARE HUGE TEAMS# Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Financial Fair Play has helped to give rivals Manchester United an advantage in the transfer market, ESPN has reported. The 51-year-old insisted that Chelsea has now become a ‘selling club’ after allowing the likes of David Luiz, Romalu Lukaku and Juan Mata leave for big money during this calendar year. As a result of the FFP rules, the Blues have relaxed their spending somewhat in the last two years. Meanwhile, Man Utd have gone on to break the British record for the amount of money spent in a transfer window by one club, after splashing out on Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria, whose fee of £59.7m broke the British transfer record. And Mourinho believes that this has come as the result of an advantage Man Utd have gained since the FFP rules were brought into force by UEFA. He said: "When UEFA decided for financial Fair Play, they were trying to do this to make ...
Paris St Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed new Manchester United signing Angel Di Maria wanted to move to the Parc des Princes, but the Ligue 1 champions could not agree a fee with Real Madrid. The Argentinian winger sealed a British record £59.7million transfer to United last week, but Al-Khelaifi said PSG had in fact been his preferred destination. “For two or three weeks I discussed this issue with my friend Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid,” Al- Khelaifi said in an interview with Le Parisien. “We met twice, we made an offer, but we did not agree on the price. For me it was too expensive. It has nothing to do with Financial Fair Play. The player wanted to come to Paris, but this was not possible.” The French side have invested hugely in players over the past couple of years, with the arrival of David Luiz from Chelsea this summer’s marquee signing. Al-Khelaifi claimed Financial Fair Play (FFP) was not a fair rule and said his club would meet with UEFA to urge the ...

PSG end pursuit of Real star Di Maria Paris Saint Germain have confirmed they have ended their interest in signing Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria. The French champions were keen to sign the Argentina international but problems with Financial Fair Play meant it was difficult to push through a deal. "We talked with (Real Madrid) president (Florentino) Perez but Di Maria was too expansive so we stopped the discussion," PSG president Nasser al Khelaifi told a news conference at the club's unveiling of David Luiz. Di Maria has also been linked with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Monaco but it appears he will stay with Real Madrid for now. He only returned to training with Real this week after being given more time off by Madrid after Argentina reached the World Cup final. Earlier reports had suggested that Madrid and PSG agreed a €75m transfer fee which would have come close to offsetting the €81m that Real Madrid signed to bring in James Rodriguez from Monaco.
FOR TRUE FANS,DONT MISS ON THIS ARTICLE,WE ARE THE STRONGEST TEAM... Chelsea are currently edging rivals Manchester City and Arsenal, while are good strides ahead of Liverpool and Manchester United. Some really sharp transfer business by boss Jose Mourinho saw Chelsea instantly fill all the voids in the team. The manager even claimed that he is done for the transfer window. Chelsea still have a lot of budget to spend after the marquee sale of maverick defender David Luiz, so we cannot solely rely on Mourinho’s words saying that there won’t be any more signings. Club legend Didier Drogba re-joined the club which now looks to have the quality on and off the pitch as well. Amazing Squad Depth Chelsea have a very deep squad. They have two first team players for each position on the pitch apart from a single Centre Back position. True??? Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria WANTS to join Manchester United. The Daily Star Sunday says Di Maria has rushed an SOS half way across the world to Manchester United's USA camp pleading: Get me out of here. United know that Di Maria is up for grabs Real's £45m asking price and will get down to business this week to act quickly once new boss Louis Van Gaal gives the go ahead. Paris St Germain are also on full alert but they have dragged their heels much to the early frustration of Di Maria, which is another reason he wants United to come and get him. The French farce has infuriated Di Maria with the money-no-object club trying to broker a loan deal to get round Financial Fair Play demands after splashing £50 million on Chelsea’s David Luiz. United won’t quibble over Real’s fee and Van Gaal has enough funds at his disposal to negotiate a straight cash deal.

The Blues have made the French midfielder a top target as they prioritise a central midfield partner for January signing Nemanja Matic, according to Goal. Jose Mourinho's side is planning to use the £40m they raked in from the sale of David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain to part-fund the deal. Mourinho is convinced that the France international, 21, will develop into one of the world's finest midfielders and can be a driving force for Chelsea next season. Juventus are said to be keen to keep hold of Pogba, but could reportedly be swayed by a bid in the region of £65m. Chelsea will table an offer for Pogba after Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa's proposed £35 move to Stamford Bridge has been finalised. Mourinho – Now The Clever One: Whether David Luiz justifies his price tag or not, one thing has become crystal clear; the reversible cycle has started as far as Chelsea are concerned. A club which has spent more than 2 billion since it’s takeover by the new owner, Chelsea were always known to spend big to get their chosen signings. However it seems Jose Mourinho has become more street smart on his return to the bridge. His traits of forcing Manchester United to pay 37million pounds for Mata, dumping out Lukaku to a non- dangerous club like Everton and now with this immediate departure, one thing has become inevitable that the Chelsea boss knows how to get good money for valuable players. The way he clinched Salah and Willian under the noses of rival clubs Liverpool and Tottenham and fending off Barcelona from David Luiz before selling him off to PSG, Jose Mourinho has certainly shown, this time off the pitch, why he claims himself to be the Special One

In a move that would raise eyebrows, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move for Manchester United utility player Phil Jones. The 22 year-old is currently preparing for the World Cup after Roy Hodgson named Jones in his 22-man squad and has emerged as a potential target for Premier League rivals Chelsea. Mourinho is looking at defensive options with David Luiz being touted as a target for Barcelona and John Terry coming towards the end of his career, despite signing a one-year extension. Jones would provide cover in a number of positions and like many others at Old Trafford, did not enjoy a good campaign under David Moyes. The club would be unlikely to welcome advances for one of their players, though it remains to be seen where Jones fits into incoming manager Louis Van Gaal’s plans. [Source: Independent]

Indeed, reports at the start of the month claimed Chelsea had 'ramped-up' their interest in the player, who has been dubbed 'the new John Terry'. Metro went on to claim that Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been kept updated over his progress in Yorkshire, and that a £5million offer could be made to bring the player to Stamford Bridge. Maguire would be tasked with emulating Terry if he were to sign for Chelsea, although first team opportunities would be hard to come by with the likes of David Luiz and Gary Cahill also in the squad. Van Persie SET FOR ARSENAL RETURN? The big gossip on Saturday comes courtesy of the Metro, who claim that Robin Van Persie could make a sensational return to Arsenal in the summer. According to the Metro, Van Persie's agent met with Arsene Wenger in January to discuss a possible transfer as the striker seeks an exit from Manchester United. 'The Dutchman has reportedly become frustrated with life under new manager David Moyes, and is now angling for a switch back to Arsenal,' report the Metro. 'According to Sky Italia, Wenger met Van Persie's representative in London late last month where it was made clear that Van Persie wants to leave United - and go back to the Gunners. 'Wenger is believed to be now considering his next move, but with United planning an overhaul of their squad in the summer, the 30-year-old could be made available.' This is the most insightful, articulate and accurate ever about this players,I have always said it,those clubs destroyed Anderson and Mikel. Read and make your judgements* In Chelsea’s match with Manchester United this Sunday afternoon, arguably the most fascinating battleground will be the central midfield zone. That is entirely common in matches between two big clubs, but usually because of the vast quality on display. This weekend’s match is different, as both teams are weakest in that very position: the central midfield, the heart of the side. There are injury problems: Chelsea may be without Frank Lampard while David Moyes will probably still be unable to call upon Marouane Fellaini. Beyond that pair, Chelsea have depended upon just four central midfielders and have recently been using centre-back David Luiz in the holding role, despite Jose Mourinho previously insisting he would not, and have now re-signed Nemanja Matic -- a player they sold as part of the Luiz deal in 2011 -- for 21 million poun ...
Possible Chelsea Starting Line-Up Against West Ham. Chelsea will take on West Ham on Wednesday Night at the Stamford Bridge, where the Blues will be looking to pick up full three points and keep the pressure on other title challengers. The Blues kept themselves busy in the winter transfer window, as they sold club hero Juan Mata to Manchester United and signed Mohamed Salah from Basel as replacement. However, the Egyptian is unlikely to make his debut against the Hammers.Chelsea are heading into this match on the back of a 1-0 win over Stoke City in the FA Cup, and Mourinho is expected to make few changes from the team that played on Sunday. In the defence, John Terry and Cesar Azpilicueta are expected to return, while David Luiz may retain his place. Nemanja Matic was solid against Stoke City and the Serbian could start tomorrow alongside Ramires, while Frank Lampard could be rested. Andre Schurrle started in the last match in place of Willian, but the German is likely to make way for the Brazilian. Fern ...
WEEKEND ROUND UP Gareth Bale scored his first goal of 2014, as his Real Madrid side demolished basement club Real Betis 5-0. Bale scored a spectacular free-kick after Ronaldo had put Madrid ahead with a spectacular strike of his own. The Welshman looked back to his imperious best, and it looked as though he'd put his injury problems behind him. Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez scored what would only prove to be a consolation for Manchester United, as their title hopes were all but crushed as Samuel Eto'o fired Chelsea to a 3-1 victory. Ashley Young started the game for Utd, and could have put them 1-0 up very early on, Petr Cech equal to his left foot effort. For Chelsea, David Luiz started in his new midfield berth, while Fernando Torres started on the bench as Eto'o started. This proved to be a great decision by Mourinho as Eto'o went on to destroy Utd with a brilliant hat-trick. Chicharito rose from the bench with 35 minutes remaining and gave Utd the spark they had been missing and gave them a glimmer of ...
Chelsea expect to complete the £21million signing of Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic in time for him to make his second debut for the club on Sunday against Manchester United. As Standard Sport revealed last week, Chelsea had to wait until after Benfica’s match against Porto yesterday for negotiations to be finalised. Matic has already set his sights on a return to Stamford Bridge and is likely to travel to London tomorrow to complete the deal. Chelsea have made buying a defensive midfielder one of their priorities and decided to try to re-sign the Serbia international months ago. Matic originally joined the club from MSK Kosice for just £1.5m in 2009 and made only three substitute appearances before being sold to Benfica two years later as part of the £25m deal which saw David Luiz go the other way. His value then had risen to £4m but such has been Matic’s development at Benfica that Chelsea are prepared to hand the Portuguese giants a significant profit to get him back. The 25-year-old has a .. ...

And who deserves a big credit?..Man United 0 - Chelsea 1 Chelsea took a mighty stride towards a place in next season's Champions League as Juan Mata's deflected late winner earned victory over 10-man Manchester United. The drabbest of affairs seemed certain to end in a goalless stalemate until Mata's shot flicked off Phil Jones and crept in at the far post. United thought they should have had a free-kick earlier in the move and their frustrations boiled over as Rafael was sent off in the final minute for chopping down David Luiz. The result means victory for Chelsea against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday will seal a top-four spot thanks to their superior goal difference. It was just about a deserved success, although it was not a game that will live long in the memory. Although Unitd boss Sir Alex Ferguson insisted there would be no slackening off even though the title was won a fortnight ago, it was hard not to notice a slackening in ...

A solitary strike from Demba Ba lifted the Blues back above Tottenham in third, boosting their hopes of securing Champions League football. Benitez had been forced to dispute claims of a fall-out with John Terry during the week, but the Chelsea skipper again found himself on the bench alongside Fernando Torres, who made way for Ba. It was the former Newcastle forward who scored the winner from six yards, converting easily after David Luiz nodded Oscar's centre back across goal. Manchester City cut the difference at the top with Manchester United back to twelve points after defeating third place Chelsea 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium courtesy of goals from Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez. Juan Mata has been named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month for October. The Spaniard has been in excellent form recently and has rightly been recognised after a run of seven goals in as many games across all competitions, including league strikes against Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United, and a string of assists that make him the division's top creator over the past year. Mata ended last season as the first player to win the club's Player of the Year award in his debut season since Ruud Gullit, and after a summer schedule that included Euro 2012 and Olympic Games duty, he was allowed a short break by manager Roberto Di Matteo before returning to Chelsea duty and forging an effective relationship alongside Oscar and Eden Hazard in behind the striker. It is the first time Mata has won the award, and he becomes the first Chelsea player to do so since David Luiz in March 2011. 'I'm very grateful for this award. It's very important to keep going and improve because I am still young,' the 2 ...

SunSport can reveal some Blues stars are sceptical about the shock allegations and pressure is mounting on the club to physically prove the remarks were made. Significantly, the club have not yet officially complained to the police about the alleged incident — even though the Society of Black Lawyers has. Mikel’s team-mates Ramires and David Luiz told the midfielder they heard ref Clattenburg make an ‘inappropriate comment’ during Blues’ 3-2 defeat against Manchester United nine days ago. They were so furious they asked for Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay to go to the dressing room after the game and listen to their version of events. An insider said: “They were saying the club had to look after them and take action. They said the club had stood by John Terry in his race row with Anton Ferdinand and now it had to do the same for them. “But the other players weren’t so voc ...
Chelsea Manager Talking Nonsense November 1, 2012 70 Comments An incorrect match-defining decision was witnessed at Stamford Bridge on Sunday which likely had a huge impact on the result. Manchester United only won the game 3-2 but if Fernando Torres has been sent off for kicking Tom Cleverley in the chest in the first half, when Chelsea were still losing 2-1, who knows how many goals United would have won by… Last night the two teams faced each other again. Whilst Chelsea resorted to playing the likes of Petr Cech, Juan Mata, David Luiz, John Obi Mikel, Oscar, Eden Hazard and Ramires, United played a team of second string players and youth. In fact, the only player to remain from Sunday’s first choice line up was Rafael Da Silva. “We wanted to show that Sunday’s game was really heavily influenced by the officials,” Roberto Di Matteo said after the game. How? By fielding almost your strongest team to scrape a 5-4 victory against United’s fringe players and kids? United took the lead three time ...
Roberto Di Matteo has admitted Chelsea have been missing John Terry after their defensive problems deepened ahead of the Barclays Premier League game at Swansea. The European champions were all over the place at the back in Wednesday Night's dramatic Capital One Cup win over Manchester United and were hardly any better in Sunday's first league defeat of the season against the same opponents. They have now conceded 11 goals in just four games since Terry began his domestic racism ban, although the Chelsea captain did play in one of them when he started their Champions League defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk. Terry serves the final instalment of his ban on Saturday, while manager Di Matteo revealed fellow defender David Luiz would almost certainly miss the Swansea game though injury. That would mean Branislav Ivanovic being pressed into centre-back service in a new-look defence that would almost certainly see right-back Cesar Azpilicueta handed his full league debut, with Ashley Cole returning from injury on the ...
CHELSEA NEWS! Chelsea welcome back Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres after they served one-match bans during their side's midweek victory over Manchester United. David Luiz will serve a one-match suspension for reaching five domestic yellow cards for the season, meaning Cesar Azpilicueta could continue at right-back, allowing Ivanovic to partner Cahill in central defence. Ashley Cole (ankle) is a doubt, while John Terry continues his four-match ban after being found guilty of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand by the FA.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says being knocked out of the League Cup by Chelsea was a "sore lesson" for his "young" side. Chelsea made two defensive errors as Ryan Giggs and Javier Hernandez scored either side of David Luiz's penalty. Gary Cahill made it 2-2 but it appeared Nani's chipped finish would win it, before Eden Hazard's spot-kick. Daniel Sturridge and Ramires both registered in extra time before Giggs added a late consolation penalty, with the match finishing 5-4 to the Blues.
Chelsea sensationally avenged their bitter Premier League defeat to Manchester United as they won an nine-goal Capital One Cup thriller 5-4 after extra-time at Stamford Bridge. United looked set to pile on the misery for the European champions with a 3-2 fourth-round victory three days after ending their 10-year wait for a league win in west London, in the most controversial manner imaginable. But Eden Hazard scored a penalty with the last kick of normal time before Daniel Sturridge and Ramires completed an amazing comeback just 24 hours after Arsenal's astonishing 7-5 win at Reading. Just as in that game, defending was nowhere to be seen as United led three times through Ryan Giggs, Javier Hernandez and Nani and Chelsea hit back with a David Luiz penalty and Gary Cahill header. Giggs also scored an extra-time consolation from the spot for United as the Mark Clattenburg saga was briefly forgotten. The 6,000 United fans, far more than on Sunday, mercilessly taunted their opponents throughout about both Cla ...
Capital Cup joy for Chelsea Chelsea came from behind to reach the last eight of the Capital One Cup with a pulsating 5-4 extra-time victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. Just four days after suffering their first Premier League defeat of the season at the hands of the same opposition - when the Reds edged a five-goal thriller - the Blues enjoyed a measure of revenge following another goalfest in west London. However, the Blues had to come from behind three times and needed a last- gasp Eden Hazard penalty to take the match into overtime. United were gifted an opening goal on 21 minutes when Oriol Romeu was robbed by Anderson who set up Ryan Giggs to fire a low curling left foot strike beyond the reach of keeper Petr Cech. Yet the Blues were level from the penalty spot eight minutes later: Alexander Buttner tripped Victor Moses and David Luiz smashed the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net although keeper Anders Lindegaard managed to get a hand on it. Javier Hernandez was at his p ...
Two questionable red cards and an offside goal helped Manchester United to their first win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League since 2002. After an entertaining first half that began with a David Luiz own goal in … Continue reading →
Chelsea 2-3 Manchester United: what did we learn from Sunday's eventful match at Stamford Bridge? Aside from the refereeing controversies, we again saw that Chelsea are an extremely able side – dogged by lapses that can cost games. While many will rightly cite the influence of refereeing decisions on the outcome, in truth Chelsea should never have gifted an especially average United side a two-goal cushion so early-on. Yet again, Chelsea fell asleep in the starting blocks: handing the initiative to United. Playing without the ball, Chelsea were always chasing the game in the first half hour. Both early goals were the result of poor cover on the left – and credit must be given to Ashley Cole for apologising for what was one of his worst performances in a blue shirt. As a result of Cole playing too high up-field, David Luiz was often dragged left into a position he cannot cover, and leaving two gaping holes. When the change came, however, it was like the flick of a switch. Chelsea suddenly seemed to pre ...

It’s customary nowadays in the Premium league for referees to babysit Manchester United. After taking a deserved 2-0 lead over Chelsea in the first twenty minutes at Stamford Bridge, we saw a rejuvenated Chelsea side led by young Oscar in the last fifteen minutes of the first half creating serious problem for United both from open plays and set pieces, thereby forcing De Gae to make couple of good saves from David Luiz and Fernando Torres. In the last five minutes we witnessed a great work of art from Juan Mata from a set piece right outside the eighteen yard box curling the ball at the far right post to leave his Spanish counterpart in the Manchester United goal with little options. The first half ended 1-2 in favor of Man U. At the restart Oscar and Hazard formed a creative society in the middle of the park, creating plays that exposed the Man U defense and subsequently led to the equalizer from Ramirez. Mark Clattenburg the umpire of the match realized that Chelsea was too strong for Manchester Unite ...
Chelsea career Gary Cahill signed for Chelsea in mid-January 2012. He became the fifth current England international in the squad and on moving to Stamford Bridge from Bolton Wanderers, and took the number 24 shirt. He didn't get his first Blues appearances for a couple of weeks as Andre Villas-Boas chose to give him time to acclimatise in west London, but did start the dramatic 3-3 draw with Manchester United and, despite the comeback from the visitors, looked to be showing the early signs of a promising partnership with David Luiz. From that point onwards, Cahill was regularly involved, as knocks to central defenders afforded him opportunities, and he also showed the goalscoring prowess previously on display at former club Bolton and with the England national team, netting two during March. Cahill enjoyed arguably his most impressive game in a Chelsea shirt during the 1-0 Champions League semi-final first leg victory over Barcelona, but having picked up an injury in the return, he missed the last month ...

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has hit out at Newcastle's loan bid for Andy Carroll and said: I'd have to be a nutcase to do that. Chelsea's pursuit of Marseille full-back Cesar Azpilicueta looks about to pay off. Manchester United are trying to hijack Liverpool's attempt to sign Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera. Tevez has been a scourge of them since his Manchester United days. An irrepressible bundle of energy, he can be too short, sharp and skilful for John Terry's liking. Five months after his mutiny in Munich, he came in from the cold for City by supplying a Samir Nasri winner against Chelsea. Five months after one comeback when trailing, this was another. Tevez scored City's second goal, scurrying past David Luiz and Terry before whipping a shot past Petr Cech. The goal scored, a t-shirt was revealed. "Fuerte Apache," the message, celebrating Tevez's upbringing in that suburb of Buenos Aires. Infamously, he spent much of City's title-winning campaign in Argentina. Now he may be a changed figure. "It is the first time in four or five years he did a pre-season," Mancini said. "His form is better than last season." Yaya Toure's was outstanding then and remains impressive as he showed in grabbing the equaliser. If a criticism levelled at Manchester United is that they do not have an equivalent of the Ivorian, ne ...
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti insists they would have been closer to Manchester United if they had signed David Luiz and Fernando Torres last summer.
Goals from David Luiz and a Frank Lampard penalty saw a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea stunned Bayern Munich in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Arena to win the Champions League for the first time. Thomas Mueller's late header put Bayern on the brink of victory on home territory but Didier Drogba levelled things up with a bullet header at the death before coolly converting the decisive spot-kick. The tournament which gave Chelsea their greatest agony when they lost on penalties to Manchester United four years ago in Moscow has now delivered the greatest glory in their 107-year history. Juan Mata missed Chelsea's first penalty but David Luiz, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole were all successful. Philipp Lahm, Mario Gomez and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer were all on target for Bayern. The momentum shifted decisively when Cech denied Ivica Olic and Bastian Schweinsteiger hit the post to leave Chelsea on the brink and present Drogba with his moment of destiny.
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is "very hopeful" that Gary Cahill and David Luiz will be fit for the Champions League final against Bayern Munich but has called on two youth players as cover. Chelsea ready to dispel Moscow demons - Bayern Munich v Chelsea preview - Brewin: Home where the heart is - Marin backs Chelsea for UCL glory - Neuer cautiously optimistic - Hodgson: Don't write off Chelsea John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic are both ruled out of the match through suspension, and Cahill and Luiz have not featured in recent weeks due to injury. Chelsea are also without Raul Meireles and Ramires through suspension and Florent Malouda faces a race to recover from a hamstring problem. As a result, Todd Kane, 18, and Nathaniel Chalobah, 17, have travelled to Munich ahead of Saturday's final but Di Matteo is confident the injured players will be available. "Cahill and Luiz trained all week, so we are very hopeful, and Malouda will join the group today," Di Matteo said ahead of Friday's training session. "We ...
19:45 – Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is spotted in the stands draped head-to-toe in Bayern Munich apparel, including replica shirt, branded hat and scarf, muttering: "Triffic, always liked 'im", as each home player's name is read out over the public address. 19:50 – By the time that the game kicks off, ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley has already mentioned Manchester United's famous 1999 final victory over Bayern 28 times. 20.00 – John Terry begins the match sitting quietly to one side while Roberto Di Matteo occupies his usual role on the touchline overseeing the team. As the first half progresses, however, the two slowly swap positions until the Blues captain is barking orders gleefully and the Italian is unobtrusive and obsolete on the bench. 20:08 – A cursor is visible above the head of David Luiz as the Brazilian's positional error allows Mario Gomez through to make it 1-0 to Bayern. In the Sky studio, someone wrestles a video-game controller out of co-commentator Gary Neville's hand. 20:2 ...
Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed that he has faced Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez before - but only on PlayStation. Luiz was criticised by Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville earlier in the season for playing like he was controlled by a "10-year-old in the crowd on a PlayStation"
LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA FA CUP PREVIEW Didier Drogba and former Liverpool forward Fernando Torres appear to be in competition for one central striking berth in the Chelsea line-up. Defenders Gary Cahill and David Luiz are out with hamstring injuries but Chelsea have no other injury worries. Long-term midfield absentees Lucas Leiva and Charlie Adam are Liverpool's only injury concerns. Striker Luis Suarez and captain Steven Gerrard are set to return after missing Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Fulham. MATCH PREVIEW Chelsea coach Roberto Di Matteo, who has transformed their season since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas at the beginning of March, has a special affinity with the FA Cup and holds two records that can never be broken. His goal after 43 seconds for Chelsea in the 1997 win over Middlesbrough was the fastest scored in the final at the old Wembley and his winner against Aston Villa in 2000 was the last FA Cup final goal there before the stadium was demolished. Now he has the chance to become the third Ital ...
