David Luiz had worked with Ancelotti, Villas-Boas, Di Matteo, Benitez and Mourinho at Chelsea, and now Conte. THAT'S SIX MANAGERS!
Vas's article for Chelsea fans reads; I feel sorry for Di Matteo as it is more the players that is to blame for the poor performance especially with the sulky Torres and as well as the uninspiring and uncommitted David Luiz who has been a horror show for Chelsea during the past few games. David Luiz is considered a quality defender, however he simply is not performing at the highest level and is far too casual in his style of play. I do not see the hunger, passion and determination in his performances to be a top notch solid central defender that has as his top priority to keep clean sheets. He also does not lead his team and fight for every single ball that he has a chance to win. And what is it with him always putting his hands behind his back when a player is about to shoot or cross a ball in? I understand he wants to avoid committing a foul but that clearly shows me that he does not have enough confidence in himself and his game. Also look at the reply of the second goal Juventus scored last night. As ...
I don't think Di Matteo should be sacked. He won the FA Cup and the CL with a squad which included David Luiz...that's a miracle!
Gud day all, am truly an ardent follower of chelsea fc. I realy commend d teams performance all ds while, xpecialy dat of last 9t against d ukranian side. Bt i stil wnt 2say sumtin abt David Luiz's performance ds days, always joking wit d ball as if football is a jamboree.. I tink Di Matteo realy hv 2do sumtin abt dat by leaving him on d bench 2watch Terry and Cahil play, at least 2learn frm dem a typical way of playing nt jst dat bt as a central defender cos he has realy caused chelsea a lot of damage wit ds his gangstarism style of play dat he call football. Am nt saying he is a mediocre bt he realy hv 2improve on his perfomance by being serious always and knowing dat, the reputation of d team and his image as a player is always at stake. Up chelsea! D blues rules! Gudluck...
I want Di Matteo to get David Luiz repeating to himself 1,000 times each night: "I am a defender." Might eventually sink in that way.
hours ago CHELSEA manager, Roberto Di Matteo, has yet to decide whether to bring John Terry back into his side for Wednesdaays Champions League meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk.Terry served the last game of his domestic four-match ban for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand as Chelsea drew 1-1 with Swansea, surrendering their position at the top of the Premier League at the end of a week dominated by the Mark Clattenburg affair. The Blues have shipped 10 goals in Terrys absence, but while Di Matteo acknowledged his side have missed the former England international, he has yet to decide whether to return him to the side against the Ukrainian side in midweek.Di Matteo, who is also hopeful of having Juan Mata and David Luiz back from injury, said: He (Terry) is an important player for us and we will welcome him back, we will have to see how the next three days go and then we will make a decision. On Mata and Luiz he added: It is going to be a question of waiting for the next couple of days for them to r ...
Roberto Di Matteo has admitted Chelsea have been missing John Terry after their defensive problems deepened ahead of the Barclays Premier League game at Swansea. The European champions were all over the place at the back in Wednesday night's dramatic Capital One Cup win over Manchester United and were hardly any better in Sunday's first league defeat of the season against the same opponents. They have now conceded 11 goals in just four games since Terry began his domestic racism ban, although the Chelsea captain did play in one of them when he started their Champions League defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk. Terry serves the final instalment of his ban on Saturday, while manager Di Matteo revealed fellow defender David Luiz would almost certainly miss the Swansea game though injury. That would mean Branislav Ivanovic being pressed into centre-back service in a new-look defence that would almost certainly see right-back Cesar Azpilicueta handed his full league debut, with Ashley Cole returning from injury on the ...
' David Luiz and Gary Cahill are playing together very well and JT is here as well, and Ivanovic is a very good centre-back too,' says Di Matteo. 'We have good options.'
Chelsea 2-3 Manchester United: what did we learn from Sunday's eventful match at Stamford Bridge? Aside from the refereeing controversies, we again saw that Chelsea are an extremely able side – dogged by lapses that can cost games. While many will rightly cite the influence of refereeing decisions on the outcome, in truth Chelsea should never have gifted an especially average United side a two-goal cushion so early-on. Yet again, Chelsea fell asleep in the starting blocks: handing the initiative to United. Playing without the ball, Chelsea were always chasing the game in the first half hour. Both early goals were the result of poor cover on the left – and credit must be given to Ashley Cole for apologising for what was one of his worst performances in a blue shirt. As a result of Cole playing too high up-field, David Luiz was often dragged left into a position he cannot cover, and leaving two gaping holes. When the change came, however, it was like the flick of a switch. Chelsea suddenly seemed to pre ...
Video Di Matteo and David Luiz attempted grab on Valencia while he took a throw in the 91st minute C
Summary Chelsea suffered our first defeat of the Barclays Premier League season after being reduced to nine men in a frantic second half at Stamford Bridge. Having fallen two goals behind early we clawed our way back into the game and level, only for Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres to be sent off within minutes of each other, allowing United to prise back control of the game and grab a dubious winner through substitute Javier Hernandez. United were two up inside 12 minutes after an unfortunate own goal from David Luiz and a Robin Van Persie strike that exposed Chelsea's early weakness down our left-hand side. The Blues gradually came back into it though and when Juan Mata curled a free-kick into the far corner just before half-time, we looked as though we could yet force at least a point. Seven minutes into the second half Ramires had headed us level and the momentum was with Chelsea, but it would be short-lived. Just after the hour Ivanovic was dismissed when he brought down Ashley Young who was t ...
Gary Cahill admitted he is unhappy with Roberto Di Matteo’s rotation policy at Chelsea. The Chelsea boss has rotated between Cahill, David Luiz and John Terry in the centre back positions with one of the players sitting out.
Roberto Di Matteo said Friday that Fernando Torres may be at risk of burnout as the Chelsea boss prepares to ask the striker to lead the line for the Blues on Saturday. Torres looks set to maintain his record of starting every one of the European champions' games this season when they take on Norwich in the Barclays Premier League. The match is Chelsea's seventh in just 21 days, a punishing schedule that has seen Di Matteo take every opportunity to rotate his squad. He almost certainly would have rested Torres during the past three weeks but for an injury to Daniel Sturridge, who is the club's only other recognized senior striker. And Di Matteo admitted it was something he might need to address after Torres returns from the upcoming international break. "It's our seventh game tomorrow in 21 days and he's in good shape, he's very fit," Di Matteo said when asked if burnout was a concern. "But, certainly, it's something we have to look at." Sturridge has missed the last five matches with a hamstring injury, ...
The defending champions jolted back on track in the Champions League in midweek, but as we head into another international break it is further success in the Barclays Premier League that occupies everyone's minds. Roberto Di Matteo's side are targeting a fifth straight win, something not achieved since the six in August/September 2010. David Luiz's sublime strike in the 4-0 win over Nordsjaelland brought our second direct free-kick goal in four days - an improvement on just one in all competitions last season (Frank Lampard's in the semi-final slaughter of Tottenham). It was our highest scoring away win in Europe since Rosenborg in November 2007. The Brazuca himself said afterwards that - with the Blues top of the Premier League and the Champions League - 'everyone is happy at the moment.' Though fine words butter no cherivia in October, stylish, resilient performances are convincing evidence that the integration of new young players is proceeding well, with the Spanish and Brazilians contributing signifi ...
If, as seems likely, Chelsea have to do without John Terry for at least four domestic games in the near future, then Gary Cahill and David Luiz will need to form a far more solid partnership than was evident in the 4-0 Champions League victory away to Nordsjaelland in Copenhagen on Tuesday.
Chelsea coach Roberto Di Matteo admitted his side had been slightly fortunate to come away with a 4-0 win over Danish minnows FC Nordsjaelland in their second Champions League outing. The result left the defending champions level on points with forthcoming opponents Shakhtar Donetsk at the top of Group E, but the visitors had to weather several uncomfortable moments at Copenhagen's Parken Stadium. Had Petr Cech not clawed Joshua John's shot onto the post in the 73rd minute, Chelsea would have seen the advantage procured by Juan Mata's 33rd-minute opener cancelled out by their enterprising opponents. However, Cech produced what Di Matteo described as "a crucial save", and further goals from David Luiz, Mata and Ramires added a slightly misleading gloss to what had been a far from fluent performance. "We expected a difficult game and that's exactly how it turned out to be," said the Italian, who led Chelsea to a penalty shoot-out victory over Bayern Munich in last season's final. "We were a bit slow out of ...

Chelsea skipper John Terry is looking forward to putting his race trial acquittal behind him. Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic, David Luiz - which centre-back pairing will Di Matteo choose for their Community Shield clash with Manchester City on August 12? what is ur take on (Rdm) selection?
oberto Di Matteo believes Oscar will prove to be a 'fantastic signing' after the Brazil international completed his transfer on Wednesday. The 20-year-old arrives from Internacional to join compatriots David Luiz and Ramires in the first-team squad, though he is currently on Olympic duty having helped beat Team GB in a friendly last week. 'He is a fantastic player.
Di Matteo will find it hard to snub a competition that has offered a number of other recent Chelsea bosses a chance of early silverware. Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo will this season have to take a decision no manager relishes: which trophies to give up on before the season has started. The Blues are up for an unprecedented seven trophies in the 2012/13 campaign: the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, FA Community Shield, Champions League, European Super Cup and World Club Cup. If conventional logic says it is folly to fight on seven fronts at once, a look at the fixture schedule shows that to attempt to do so could be suicidal for Chelsea’s season. From the very start, Blues suffer for the success they achieved last season. On 12 August they are pitched into an FA Community Shield game at Villa Park, not their happiest of hunting grounds, against Manchester City. They are likely to be without Olympic stars including Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, David Luiz, Ryan Bertrand and Daniel Sturridge for this matc ...
DI MATTEO: GETTING SET Roberto Di Matteo is not expecting major changes to his squad as they begin work for the 2012/13 season today (Thursday). The majority of the squad report back to Cobham as we begin a pre-season training programme that will also see us tour America and play in a friendly at Brighton before the Community Shield game against Manchester City on August 12. Di Matteo is looking forward to welcoming them, including the new faces, Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Kevin De Bruyne, but does not expect too many other additions before the season's beginning, despite the departures of Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa. 'Having lost those three players we still have a pretty experienced team,' the Italian said. 'Look at Petr Cech, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Branislav Ivanovic, Fernando Torres, even David Luiz, John Mikel Obi, they have played a lot of games and we still have an experienced team. But we are monitoring the market and looking at some different thi ...
