Martin Brodeur: There's a reason why you're on the other side of that line... You suck! David Clarkson: Yes for now maybe old timer but I still have a chance at getting 1 more Stanley Cup than you. Martin Brodeur: You sure, I want to see you play this awesome when you're 40-because with the way you're playing you're not befriending anyone named Stanley for long, long, long, long, long, long (maybe never) time. Brodeur 3 Stanley Cups---Clarkson 0

FLYERS (6-7-1) at (8-2-3) TV: CSN-PH, MSG PLUS Last 10: Philadelphia 5-4-1; New Jersey 5-2-3 Season series: This is the second of five meetings this season. The Devils scored a 3-0 victory on Jan. 22 in Newark behind a 24-save performance by Martin Brodeur, his 10th all-time goose egg against the Flyers. Travis Zajac and David Clarkson scored in the first period and Ilya Kovalchuk connected on a penalty shot while his team was shorthanded in the second. Big story: Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello reacquired veteran left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday in exchange for a 2013 seventh-round draft pick and a 2014 fourth-round choice. Ponikarovsky had seven goals and 18 points in 33 regular-season games for the Eastern Conference champion Devils in 2011-12. He chipped in with nine points in 24 playoffs games last spring. He becomes the 23rd player in team history to be reacquired and play for the Devils. The move comes on the heels of the news that first-line wing Dainius Zubr ...

David Clarkson admitted he "was nervous" when Martin Brodeur hired an agent for free agency. Clarkson spoke at the Honda Indy today.
Tom Gulittitalked to Martin Brodeur. He said Devils offered more money on 1-year contract, but he wanted 2. That was why he hired agent, went UFA. Brodeur said he didn't want to have to answer questions again all next season about possibly retiring. Also, Brodeur wanted to be sure he'd play again, even if there is some kind of lockout in 2012-13. Brodeur said he will definitely play through the end of the contract even if there is a lockout. Brodeur wasn't ready to say this is definitely his last contract. Brodeur said all offers he received were for 2 years. He would not have left Devils for a 1-year deal. Obviously, Brodeur's preference whole time was to stay with Devils and finish his career in NJ. But wanted that 2nd year for peace of mind. Brodeur said David Clarkson was more nervous than him about Brodeur being a UFA.
