Messages during the Potter's Wheel Weekend will be woven together from event speakers' best-selling book The Cure, soon to be a movie. “The Cure will rock your world if you allow yourself to catch it!” – Dave Dravecky, Retired Major League Pitcher, San Francisco Giants.
Candlestick memories? Here are mine: 1971- Going to my first Giants game at age 6 and seeing Willie Mays, Willie McCovey and Bobby Bonds play. October 17, 1981 - Catching the Rolling Stones. January 10, 1982 - Sitting in the end zone when Dwight Clark made "The Catch" on a pass from Joe Montana to win the NFC Championship Game and send the 49ers to their first Super Bowl. Storming the field after and grabbing a piece of turf at the 50-yard-line with part of the logo on it. August 10, 1989 - Grabbing a bleacher seat to see Dave Dravecky's miracle comeback game. October 9, 1989 - Watching Will Clark hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the 8th off Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams to win the Giants first National League pennant since 1962. October 17, 1989, 5:04pm - Sitting in the upper deck, section 37 for Game 3 of the World Series when the Loma Prieta Earthquake struck. April 12, 1993 - Playing hooky to catch opening day and the beginning of the Barry Bonds era. Back then he was a fast, skinny base stealer and ...

YOU WILL GET THROUGH YOUR STORM! Are you in a storm today? Then read the book of Mark 6:47-51. There are four lessons here for us: 1. It is when we feel most separated from God, that He's teaching us the most. Dave Dravecky said, 'Looking back... I have learned that the wilderness is part of the landscape of faith, and every bit as essential as the mountaintop. On the mountaintop we are overwhelmed by God's presence. In the wilderness we are overwhelmed by His absence. Both places should bring us to our knees; the one, in utter awe; the other, in utter dependence.' 2. God doesn't show up early. Usually He comes in the worst part of the storm when you think you can't take any more but He will always be on time. 3. God takes us through different storms, revealing more of Himself to us in each one. Otherwise there are aspects of His character, and divine strategies we'd never understand. 4. God's presence alone should be enough for us in any storm. The moment He shows up and says, 'It is Me.' Our fear should ...
May 28,2013~Devo~ Psalm 73:24-26 "You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." --LOOKING HEAVENWARD-- God may never answer our question "How long?" He may never tell us how much farther we must trudge through the desert. But if our wilderness journey leads us to Him, then the road we travel is as surely a highway to heaven as is any more rapid thoroughfare. Who knows when the trip will be over? Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, or next year. God does not give us an ETA, an Estimated Time of Arrival. But if we belong to Him, he does give us a GTA--a Guaranteed Territory of Arrival. And from what we can glimpse in the official travel brochure of his Word, the place is spectacular. (Dave and Jan Dravecky - Hope for a Woman's Soul)

May 24, 2013~Devo~ 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?' The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." --GOD WINS-- God doesn't command us to stay encouraged without giving us a reason to do so. He knows there is plenty in life to cause even the stoutest soul to lose heart. Calamities and mishaps and disease and accidents and foul play and a thousand other devastations can pulverize our lives at any moment. Life in this fallen world has countless nasty ways of causing us to lose heart. But God is greater than any calamity, mightier than any disaster. When Paul says 'Therefore we do not lose heart,' he is thinking back to an irresistible reason for staying encouraged: 'We know ...

"All you have to do is pick up a baseball. It begs to you: throw me. If you took a year to design an object to hurl, you'd end up with that little spheroid small enough to nestle in your fingers but big enough to have some heft, lighter than a rock but heavier than a hunk of wood. Its even, neat stitching, laced into the leather's slippery white surface, gives your fingers a purchase. A baseball was made to throw. It's almost irresistible." ~ Dave Dravecky

So, yesterday was awesome. Jamie Moyer is a rock star. Dave Dravecky is as nice as ever. Barry Zito was simply overwhelmed
Giants Win Supporting the San Francisco Giants since April 19, 2006 Wednesday, January 30, 2013 Zito wins the Hutch Award Talk about a bit of perspective. This should make us all a little less upset over Barry Zito's on-field failings. He won the Hutch Award today for his considerable charitable contributions. Stretch and Dave Dravecky are the previous Giants winners. Here's the report on the Giants web site. Boldface is mine -- Barry Zito's story of personal redemption got the silver-screen treatment when he rebounded from a few lost years by the Bay to pitch his San Francisco Giants out of a jam and become a huge factor in them winning the 2012 World Series. It would be difficult to top such a monumental achievement for an athlete, but Zito's accomplishments off the mound are far more significant in the world outside sports, and that spirit was honored Wednesday when he accepted the 48th Hutch Award for outstanding community service at the annual luncheon at Safeco Field. The Hutch Award, a national hon ...

I did my Dad proud today. A friend of mine said that he thought it was funny all the fake Giant Fans were coming out now and that we could not name anyone from the 1989 WS, Well he asked the wrong Giants Fan: Let's see; Will Clark, Jeffery Leonard, Robby Thompson, Bob Brenly, Candy Maldonado, Kevin Mitchell, Jose Uribe, Kelly Downs, Terry Mulholland, Matt Williams, Dave Dravecky, Brett Butler, Mike Krukow, Goose Gossage, Chris Speier, Manager was Roger Craig: Coaches were Dusty Baker, Norm Sherry, Bob Lillis, Wendell Kim, Bob Fahey, and I believe that is it. h and we can't forget Rick Reulcshel, Ernest Riles and Terry Kennedy. These were most of the starters for the 1989 team. I know I missed some pitchers, but I was only 10 years old. ANY OTHER Questions?
This is an inter that I did with former San Francisco Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky who pitched for the Giants from 1987-89. He will be remembered for making his comeback from cancer in a game in 1989 against the Cincinnati Reds and then a week later Dravecky broke his arm in Montreal while delivering a pitch to Tim Raines which would end his season and the cancer would return which would all but force Dravecky's left arm to be amputated. These day Dravecky is an ambassador for the San Francisco Giants and a motivational speaker with his wife Janice. This interview was taped at Ilfornio located at 1265 Battery Street in San Francisco the cause was for to raise money for Museo Italo Americano baseball Museum located at Fort Mason in San Francisco and Dave Dravecky was one of the pasta servers and I also got a chance to sit next to Brian Murphy of KNBR mourning show and Hunter Pence sat at our table as well and gotta chance to talk about his time in here and the vibes in both Philadelphia and and in Houston ...

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 Dave Dravecky, the all-star baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants and a strong man of faith, felt a lump in his pitching arm one day. He had a tumor. So the doctors went in, took it out, and found it was cancerous. They ended up removing 50 percent of the muscle in his pitching arm. It seemed like his career was over. But Dave rehabbed that arm and was able to come back to pitch again. The day he got his first win about a year later was an awesome moment, but Dave Dravecky gave God the glory. But when his turn in the rotation came to pitch the next time, he threw a fast ball and the bone in his arm snapped. Dravecky reported that it felt like someone cutting his arm off with a hatchet. He collapsed to the ground and was carried off the field. And though he tried to rehabilitate the arm one more time, it was impossible. Eventually, Dave’s left arm and shoulder had to be amputated. In his biography, Dravecky wrote these wor ...
