Fletcher eyes league chance Darren Fletcher is looking forward to getting back into Barclays Premier League action but is willing to bide his time. The Scotland international, who is away with Craig Levein's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, has made great strides in coming back to football after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Although figuring in both Champions League ties and the Capital One Cup win over Newcastle, the last time the 28-year-old was on the pitch in the league was back in November 2011 when he came on as a substitute at Swansea's Liberty Stadium. "It's what it's all about," he told MUTV. "Getting as many games as possible. "I know the manager has got such a big squad now, especially in the midfield area, and there is a lot of competition for places. I have to be patient and wait for my chances but, hopefully, one will come around sooner rather than later. "I think my general fitness is fine, it's just match fitness - the sharpness, reaction times, things in your head ...

The striker was substituted during Holland's World Cup qualifier against Hungary in midweek after taking a knee to his thigh but has recovered in time to face the Latics. Shinji Kagawa sat out Japan's clash with Iraq due to a back problem but he is also included in the squad along with Darren Fletcher, who has not played since last November due to a career-threatening chronic bowel condition. Latics boss Roberto Martinez may have to make some enforced changes to his starting line-up against the Red Devils. Jean Beausejour is a doubt with the hamstring injury he sustained against Stoke which forced him to miss out on international duty with Chile while Paraguay defender Antolin Alcaraz has returned to the club with an abductor problem. On-loan Arsenal striker Ryo Miyaichi is now match-fit and could make his first start while midfielder James McArthur has made a full recovery from a niggling back problem.
Darren Fletcher, with all due respect, has won the Premier League four times, the League Cup twice, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the FIFA World Cup. Again, no disrespect to Darren, but I think he himself would wholeheartedly agree that Eden Hazard is a better football player than he is.
