Top five: Premier League zero to heroes A look at five Premier League players who proved supporters wrong with their improved performances 5) Frank Lampard | Chelsea Perhaps a little harsh to include Frank Lampard in this list, which is why he slots in at number five. For the last 10 consecutive seasons he has scored at least 10 goals in the Premier League - an astonishing record - but his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge weren't quite as successful. 4) Carlos Tevez | West Ham Carlos Tevez joined West Ham, along with fellow Argentina international Javier Mascherano, in August 2006. It took him until the following March, when the Hammers already looked doomed to relegation, to score his first goal for the club - in a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Tottenham. 3) Lucas Leiva | Liverpool There was a time, not so long ago, when Lucas could do no right in the eyes of Liverpool supporters. 2) Darren Fletcher | Manchester United Some Manchester United supporters used to claim that Darren Fletcher must have been Sir A ...
Chelsea 1-3 Manchester United (Premier Division) Man Utd had their midfield to thank on a hard and bouncy surface at Stamford Bridge as they showed their strikers how to finish. Things did not get off to a good start for Chelsea as experienced midfielder Michael Carrick seized on an error by Ashley Cole to score a well timed close range finish. Chelsea's equaliser came through Hatem Ben Arfa as he seized on Darren Fletcher's mistake to score a deftly executed finish from close range. An error from Chelsea's John Obi Mikel allowed wonderkid Phil Jones to score a real poacher's effort from 10 metres. Winger Wayne Rooney finally rounded off their victory on 77 minutes with a deftly executed finish. Player of the Match: Michael Carrick (Man Utd) Attendance: 41,798
Reply: Man Utd had to win us with an off-side goal! You have a short memory don't you?! It seems you have forgot Drogba's MASSIVE off-side goal at Old Trafford, a few years ago. That game was much CRUICAL than last nights. The EPL title was decided by that ill-decision as Chelsea won the game 2-1 and clinched the title in later weeks. While at (Stamford Bridge) United have suffered some terrible decisions in recent times, (to recall a few) i still remember Michael Carricks 'ball to hand' penalty verdict as Chelsea won the game. I also recall John Terry headed a late winner from a free kick at Stamford bridge, the build-up to the goal was aided by a clear push to the ground challenge (I think it was on (Darren Fletcher) inside the box by (Didier Drogba) who was in a off-side position when the ball crossed the line, that challenge and the off-side incident went un-noticed by the officials - but I believe you won't remember any off these incidents, because either you were not a Chelsea fan those days or you' ...
