It was always suggested that succeeding Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager would be the hardest job in football and it proved to be the case for David Moyes at Old Trafford last season. But with the Scot being sacked after guiding United to seventh place, their lowest-ever Premier League finish, Louis Van Gaal has arguably landed the manager's job at the perfect time, with Moyes's failure making it almost impossible for the Dutchman to do any worse. Van Gaal has inherited a rebuilding job at United, but the early signs from the club's pre-season tour of the United States point to a much-improved atmosphere and sense of belief and the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach appears already to have made the team competitive again. The intensity of the Premier League will quickly test United's progress under Van Gaal and tell the manager whether his new 3-4-1-2 formation will work in England. But players who appeared to have no future at United, such as Ashley Young, Darren Fletcher and Tom Cl ...
Marouane Fellaini grabbed a last-minute winner as Manchester United warmed up for the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Valencia. The Belgian, who has had a tough time at Old Trafford since he was signed by David Moyes nearly a year ago, pounced on a defensive mistake in injury time to ensure the Reds finished their pre-season programme unbeaten. Darren Fletcher had put United ahead early in the second half, after Wayne Rooney had missed a penalty before the break. Rodrigo equalised in Valencia’s best spell, but just as the friendly looked to be drifting to a draw, substitute Fellaini pounced for the deciding goal. Louis Van Gaal's first game in charge at Old Trafford saw the Dutchman unveil the 3-5-2 system that served him well so far in pre-season, but although United looked comfortable the game only came to life as a contest when Rooney struck his spot kick against the base of the post having been clipped going for an Ashley Young cross. Fletcher put United ahead with a deflected shot from the ' ...
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is confident that the club will regain the ‘fear factor’ that was missing from last season under David Moyes.
Louis Van Gaal maintained his unbeaten record as Manchester United boss following a penalty shootout win over Inter Milan in Washington DC. All five United penalty takers found the net in a 5-3 showdown that followed a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. United only registered one shot on target in the first half, but they upped their game after the break. Substitute Wilfried Zaha, making his first appearance of the tour, was particularly impressive playing as a striker, as was Luke Shaw. Zaha, and Tom Cleverley were unlucky not to be awarded penalties in normal time at the FedEx Field. David De Gea only had one save to make during the match and he watched Marco Andreoli hit the bar from 12 yards, which allowed Darren Fletcher to fire home the winner. Fletcher, Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez, Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa all scored fine penalties. It was a far better performance from 12 yards than the dismal 2-1 shootout defeat to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final under David Moyes last year. After beati ...

13 Set for Old Trafford Exit In Man United Clear-Out. .Veterans Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic and interim boss Ryan Giggs are set to end their Man United playing careers as incoming boss Louis Van Gaal looks to bring in fresh blood. .Wingers Nani and Ashley Young have steadfastly failed to deliver the goods over the past couple of campaigns and will be looking for new clubs. .Darren Fletcher has looked a shadow of his former self since returning from illness and fellow midfielder Tom Cleverley has, rightly or wrongly, become something of a scapegoat for the shocking campaign David Moyes presided over and both are apparently likely to be offloaded. .Japanese international Shinji Kagawa hasn't come close to the form that made him a much sought after talent at Borussia Dortmund and a move back to the Bundesliga is likely. .Back-up striker Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez are seemingly surplus to requirements as is Dutch left-back Alexander Buttner. .Man United are also looking to sell Marouane ...
Ryan Giggs marked his first match in charge of Manchester United by leaving out David Moyes' two major signings for Saturday's clash against Norwich. Giggs was appointed as interim manager on Tuesday following Moyes' sacking just 10 months after the Scot arrived at Old Trafford. And the 40-year-old immediately dropped Spanish midfielder Juan Mata, who cost a club record £37.1 million from Chelsea in January, as one of six changes to the team beaten 2-0 at Everton in Moyes' final game last weekend. Mata was named on the bench at Old Trafford, but there was no place in the matchday squad for Belgian midfielder Fellaini, who has endured a miserable season following his £25 million move from Everton. Fellaini had been on the bench at Goodison Park, but he was missing as Giggs recalled Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck. Mata, Chris Smalling, Alexander Buttner, Jonny Evans, Nani and Darren Fletcher were the players who made way. Vidic, Ferdinand, Cle ...

Bayern Munich 3-1 Manchester United: Guardiola uses his full-backs in midfield, but Bayern better with a standard system April 10, 2014 The starting line-ups Pep Guardiola played an unusual system, but it didn’t help Bayern break down Manchester United. Guardiola fielded Toni Kroos in the pivot role, with Thomas Muller in midfield and Mario Mandzukic returning upfront. David Moyes brought Shinji Kagawa and Darren Fletcher into his midfield, and recalled Patrice Evra and Chris Smalling at the back. The pattern of the game wasn’t significantly different from the first leg, and the major talking point was Guardiola’s use of his two full-backs. Lahm plays two positions It was surprising that Lahm was seemingly deployed as a right-back, considering Guardiola was without both Thiago Alcantara and Bastian Schweinsteiger from his midfield zone, and therefore Lahm was surely required in the holding role he’s occupied for most of this season. However, moving Lahm to right-back also made sense considering Ma ...
NEWS AT THIS HOUR !!! Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o, 33, has opened talks. with Turkish club Besiktas - his contract at Stamford Bridge expires this summer. Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher, 30, expects the squad to be overhauled this summer following a disappointing season at home and in Europe. France international left-back Patrice Evra, 32, is one of 10 players set to be shipped out of Old Trafford this summer as manager David Moyes rebuilds his squad. Newcastle United are said to be plotting a move for Arsenal's 21-year-old Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell, who recently scored against Manchester United in the Champions League for Olympiacos, where he is spending the season on loan. West Ham and Hull City are looking at Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini, 27, although Genoa are also thought to be interested in bringing the Italy international back to his home country. Newcastle United tried to hire Sir Alex Ferguson asmanager when Kevin Keegan resigned in January1997, former chairm ...

sikpa2. biar david moyes starts from the bottom. ok lah sik kenak belasah seperti yang dijangka nak? evra's goal was awesome. might be his ultimate goal for Manchester United in UEFA Champions League. I think he was still excited that his marking on Mandzukic was so loose during the reply goal 22 seconds later. Vidic also scored his ultimate goal with his trademark heading goal from corner kick in the first leg. They will be missed. thank you Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and maybe Darren Fletcher, Robin Van Persie and Michael Carrick for awesome campaign in UEFA Champions League. Maybe we can play europa league next season. I still think Ryan Giggs will play for another 10 years.
On a day that you are making a little tactical sense all of a sudden you started making nonsense decisions. Why would you change your best players in a match you needed to score before you qualify.First, you substituted Darren Fletcher who by any account performed better than Michael Carrick (tactically unacceptable).Second, you brought Adnan in and substituted Danny Welbeck who was arguably United's best player of the match. He outplayed the Bayern central defence and performed relatively better than Wayne Rooney (Tactical diarrhea). When you know for a fact Rooney was playing with a toe injury, having played for 70mins just substitute him and bring in Chicharito instead of Welbeck. All is gone now although we lost but we bowed out in dignity contrary to the belief that Manchester United is dead. Manchester United will never die and David Moyes will come out clean and lead Manchester United to the promise land.

David Moyes suggested Wayne Rooney would be fit to play and true to the Manchester United manager's word, the striker is in the starting XI. Rio Ferdinand drops to the bench, with Chris Smalling taking his place in the side. Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher and Shinji Kagawa come in for Alex Buttner, Marouane Fellaini and Ryan Giggs respectively. Meanwhile, defender Dante, midfielder Mario Gotze and forward Mario Mandzukic come into the Bayern Munich side. There is no place for right-back Rafinha, with Philipp Lahm taking up his position.
Liking the starting 11 I been saying start kagawa and Darren Fletcher is David Moyes bugging ny conversations lol
Darren Fletcher believes the arrival of Juan Mata has been the shining light in an otherwise disappointing season for Manchester United. The Spaniard, who swapped Chelsea for Old Trafford in January, netted twice as United cruised to a 4-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday. Despite their win at St James' Park at the weekend, defending champions United remain a lowly sixth in the Premier League standings. However, Fletcher believes the addition of playmaker Mata stands them in great stead for next season, even if David Moyes will be without his star signing on Wednesday as they travel to Germany for a Champions League quarter-final second leg against holders Bayern Munich. "There is so much quality in that dressing room and players are going out there with a point to prove," said Fletcher in the Daily Star. "Of course, it's a shame he can't play against Bayern, but we always knew that. "It's been a disappointing season but he has come in and been fantastic." Fletcher is convinced the £37.1million signing ...
Bayern Munich vs Manchester United: Team News and Injury Updates Manchester United travel to Germany on Wednesday night with the knowledge they need to score at least once to advance to the next stage of the Champions League. United showed they were no pushovers in the 1-1 draw between themselves and Bayern Munich last week, but they will need an even bigger performance to topple the European Champions on their own patch. They will, however, be boosted by the news that Wayne Rooney trained on Tuesday after bruising his toe, with the forward expected to start the game. Marouane Fellaini and Rafael missed the session and both remain doubts for the match, with Robin Van Persie definitely out after picking up an injury against Olympiakos in the last round. In Fellaini's absence, manager David Moyes could opt for Phil Jones in midfield to offer the necessary energy to close Bayern's creative players down, though Darren Fletcher could be in contention to partner Michael Carrick instead. Juan Mata is ineligible ...
Manager reaction - Newcastle 0-4 Man Utd Manchester United manager David Moyes says: "It was very good. We played well and scored some really good goals. I'm really pleased with the performance. "Juan Mata got us a couple of goals and was involved in the final one for Adnan Januzaj as well. Mata was terrific and so were Shinji Kagawa and Darren Fletcher. We had some great performances today. "I always believed I had options and a squad of players who could come in and play. I've said all season that we have a really good squad of players and we showed that today. They played well and deserved the victory. "The focus could only be on this game but you could see we've left a few players at home and not played a few players. We are hoping they will be fit for Wednesday night's game at Bayern Munich."
.David Moyes on fan support and THAT banner.. . Manchester United Manager David Moyes has acknowledged that the support of the fans of the club has always been fantastic, whilst not attaching much importance to the banner of the ‘Wrong One – Moyes Out’ being flown above Old Trafford at the start of the match between them and Aston Villa last evening. “I’ve always found the crowd at Old Trafford has been terrific. I’ve not found what people are saying or writing: I’ve actually found the majority of people are very supportive and understand the job we are doing. We know we have a big job to do here and we are determined to put it right.” BBC Sport, 29th March, 2014 Other quotes: “I was at a dinner last night [Thursday] for Darren Fletcher and there were Manchester United supporters who came up to me and said ‘come on, keep going, we understand exactly the situation the club is in and team is in’. They were really supportive and every time I have been to Old Trafford they have been grea ...
MOYES ADDS CLEVERLEY, ZAHA TO Man Utd SALES LIST Tom Cleverley is up for sale at Manchester United. The Daily Mail says United manager David Moyes plans a massive clearout of senior players. He has a list of players he wishes to move out of the club. These include midfielders Anderson, Nani and Wilfried Zaha and defender Alexander Buttner. Moyes will also listen to good offers for Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez. Meanwhile, Nemanja Vidic is leaving for Inter Milan and Moyes expects to lose Patrice Evra to Serie A and Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs to retirement.
Saw this on a blog and I decide to bring it down here so we could pour out our minds towards it,Manchester United could see two more long- serving stars leave the club in the summer in the shape of Patrice Evra and Darren Fletcher, with David Moyes believed to making contingency plans in case of their exit. The United squad is set to go under a huge reconstruction after their dismal showing in the Premier League this season, and Evra is one of a number of high profile players who is out of contract this summer. Captain Nemanja Vidic has already confirmed he will leave the club after agreeing to join Inter Milan, while questions remain over the future of Rio Ferdinand, who is currently considering his options with the belief that broadcaster BT Sport have lined the former England international up as their chief football analyst. Follow all of the action with our live blog here Evra has been linked with a return to his homeland with both Paris St-Germain and AS Monaco, and while United are believed to be ** ...
NEWS AT THIS HOUR !!! Yaya Toure has been hailed as the world's best goalscoring midfielder. Arsenal's Bacary Sagna is a transfer target for Inter Milan and the club is also interested in Fernando Torres and Edin Dzeko, according to president Erick Thohir. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has challenged his side to quickly get their Barclays Premier League campaign back on course by beating Swansea to "repair the damage" from the "accident" of being thrashed 6-0 at Chelsea. Chelsea plan to wait until after the World Cup to decide whether they will sell Romelu Lukaku with Tottenham and Everton very keen. Kyle Walker is losing his battle to recover for Tottenham's trip to Liverpool on Sunday as he struggles to shake off a pelvic problem. Juan Mata has proved himself the perfect 10 for United, according to Darren Fletcher, while boss David Moyes thinks the Spaniard can have a similar impact to David Silva at City. Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has hailed Sunday's historic victory at Aston Villa as the club's ...
It’s a simple plan that we fall for every time - How to beat Arsenal? 1. Set your team up with 2 Defensive centre midfielders and fast forwards who press Arsenal high. 2. Plan to always not let Arsenal get into any rhythm with passing – tackle tackle tackle. 3. Wait for the error as Arsenal will always play the same way – through the thirds slowly with small players who cannot evade the press. 4. Score the first goal – Arsenal rarely come back and will capitulate and lose their shape. 5. Play fast transition football as Arsenal have too many players who can’t run. 6. Keep pressing and enjoy your win sleepy Arsenal will allow it. Fergie did it many times using Darren Fletcher and Anderson to kick us. David Moyes beat us this season at OT by putting Phil Jones in centre midfield. Brendan Rodgers used Henderson and Joe Allen, not superstars but given specific roles to press and unsettle. City used Yaya Toure and Fernandinho and pushed on Pablo Zabaleta to transition against us fast. Finally everyon ...
At work I've heard this opinion that our squad is suddenly very poor, my response is always the same: Look at Chelsea. Who thought a defence of Ivanovich, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta would compete on any sort of level this time last season? You have a player who is way past it, an upper mid table plodder, a talented youngster and a powerful full back lacking any technical ability. On paper that looks like a defence that Spurs wouldn't trade for, but guess what? They have comfortably conceded the fewest goals in the league. Their manager (Jose Mourinho) has them playing like top class player's, just like Fergie did with Rafael, Evra, Ferdinand and Evans last season. Great managers motivate (and build a system that encourages) good player's to play great. Last night The Times reported that Ryan Giggs shouted at David Moyes that the midfield was getting overrun at 70mins and only then David Moyes bought on Darren Fletcher. My verdict on David Moyes is damning. He is a average manager who is not cut out for a ...
Giggs gives United a glimpse of what life could be like with a top midfielder.. Following the Welshman’s 140th appearance in the European competition, Goal’s Rahul Bali suggests that his performance has sparked hope for United fans... Manchester United needs a creative midfielder. Probably every football fan on earth is aware of that fact. However, after their failure to lure a top name last summer, they ended up with Marouane Fellaini for a whopping £27.5m on deadline day. “He can play higher up, if we need it, behind the striker or as a defensive or holding midfielder. In any position in the middle of the field he's comfortable. “Because of that I think it's definitely a position where people have said we've been short of numbers, with the likes of Paul Scholes [retiring] and Darren Fletcher not ready to come back just now. I felt we needed to strengthen there and I'm glad we got him,” said David Moyes of his former Everton player. To even state that with Scholes retiring, United bought the B ...
Deary me.Darren Fletcher coming on sums up David Moyes' mentality. So defensive. Got it to 3-0, why don't they keep that attacking mentality?
Darren Fletcher, David Moyes long lost love child
It's only David Moyes who would put on Darren Fletcher... I don't understand, a fire pool makes more sense than this sub
International Reds round-up Marouane Fellaini scored for Belgium in a 2-2 draw against Ivory Coast in Brussels to lead our round-up of Manchester United's international players. David Moyes' first major signing for the Reds nodded home a Dries Mertens corner with keeper Mande Sayouba in no man's land in the 17th minute before being replaced at half time. Antonio Valencia's Ecuador staged a remarkable recovery as they won 4-3 against Australia at The Den in London. The skipper saw his side fall 3-0 down but he eventually set up the leveller for Enner Valencia, after the Socceroos were reduced to 10 men. Edison Mendez then snatched a late winner deep into stoppage time following a cross by the United right winger. Darren Fletcher made his Scotland comeback as a second-half substitute, controlling midfield with Scott Brown and helping Gordon Strachan's men record an eye-catching 1-0 success in Poland. Brown notched the winner with 13 minutes remaining. Patrice Evra and Robin Van Persie came face-to-face in P ...

Manchester United have a collection of stars on the verge of the final year of their contracts. Despite clear interest of late from Chelsea, Wayne Rooney looks likely to sign a new deal at Old Trafford worth around £300,000 a week, but David Moyes' potential cull of playing staff mean others face uncertain futures. Antonio Valencia may be handed a short-term extension, Darren Fletcher's status depends on his continued comeback from illness, while Michael Carrick may well be overlooked for a deal due to a downturn in form - with one prospect being early retirement. Tom Cleverley has until November to prove he is worthy of a prolonged stay. Despite the fact he'll be 31 by next summer, Per Mertesacker is likely to be offered a new deal by Arsenal if his current form holds. Mathieu Flamini is in the same boat. Mikel Arteta could be moved on, while Thomas Vermaelen and Abou Diaby are almost certain not to be retained, with the Belgian set to be sold this summer. Napoli are interested. Over at Liverpool, club ...
Chelsea aim to tie up deals for Paris-Saint Germain's Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani and Southampton left-back Luke Shaw before the start of this summer's World Cup in Brazil. Darren Fletcher has begged boss David Moyes to stick with current squad. Meanwhile, Moyes is keen on bringing Atletico Madrid star Joao Miranda to Manchester United and Moyes is ready to land Toni Kroos - after learning that the Germany international is one of the lowest-paid players at Bayern Munich. Fulham's news record signing Kostas Mitroglou will make his first-team debut at West Brom on Saturday. Manchester United's attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielders Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus will be boosted by the German club's willingness to re-sign out-of-favour Shinji Kagawa. Arsene Wenger is lining up Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin to replace Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. Everton are confident they can fight off interest from AC Milan to keep Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu at Goodison Park next season. Alan Pardew is on the brink ...
David Moyes needs to rethink Manchester United's simplistic tactics The lack of goals from midfield and the reliance on crosses has left out of campions league spot Steve Sidwell may like to offer Manchester United's midfield finishing classes. The Fulham captain's first-half goal in the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford was Sidwell's sixth in the league to double the total returned by United's starting quartet of Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Ashley Young and Juan Mata. For a journeyman midfielder to single- handedly outscore the champions' engine room two-to-one is the latest damning statistic in this season of ever-deepening woe for United and their manager, David Moyes. Until Carrick gave United a 2-1 lead on Sunday, the 32-year-old had yet to register in the campaign. Mata, who managed 20 goals in all competitions last season, has zero in three league games since joining and did not score for Chelsea in the league either, the same number as Fletcher (who has missed most of the season through illness), whi ...
Manchester United manager David Moyes admits the job of captain is up for grabs when Nemanja Vidic leaves in the summer. The Serbian's exit has already sparked a great deal of discussion regarding his replacement as skipper but the manager has an open mind over the situation. Left-back Patrice Evra remains vice-captain but others will have an opportunity to stake their claim. "Vida will remain as captain until the end of the season," stated Moyes. "When he isn't, it will be Patrice Evra who takes over. When it's not him, it will be Rio Ferdinand or Wayne Rooney or Darren Fletcher. "We need to make sure the person who takes over knows what it means to the club, the responsibilitie s it carries and what is required of you. But I think we have a lot of leaders in the dressing room and they will all stake their claim. "I would say it's up for grabs. We have had two or three different captains due to injuries. I do think what we want is to show leadership qualities, not just on the pitch but off it. I think th ...

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has praised the tactics of under-fire manager David Moyes.
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher says David Moyes' tactical nous was key to Saturday's win over Swansea City.
Darren Fletcher explains why David Moyes' half-time tactical changes proved pivotal v Swansea:
Manchester United 2 Swansea City 0 Saturday 11 January 2014 Old Trafford | Attendance: 75,035 Manchester United returned to winning ways and avenged last weekend’s FA Cup third round defeat to Swansea City after goals from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck sealed an important 2-0 victory. The Reds started brightly and could have taken an early lead through Nemanja Vidic, who volleyed over from six yards, before the impressive Adnan Januzaj struck the crossbar with a delicious free-kick moments later. With just over half an hour on the clock, a lovely passing move on the edge of Swansea's area led to Darren Fletcher slicing high and wide, before Welbeck dragged another effort wide of goal, missing the first half’s best chance following some neat approach play from Valencia and Rafael. David Moyes didn’t make any changes at the break, though his side returned for the second half with renewed urgency and immediately scored via Valencia, who slotted in at the far post after Shinji Kagawa’s header was ...

Manchester United's dismal home form extends with Swansea FA Cup defeat: David Moyes ended this dire defeat with his arms folded, entering and exiting the technical area in the vain hope that his Manchester United side could somehow answer Wilfried Bony's late strike. The tie had entered a 90th minute when Wayne Routledge zipped past Darren Fletcher down the left and popped up a ball that the unmarked Bony headed beyond Anders Lindegaard. At the close Moyes was ashen-faced and the unpalatable facts read that this was a fourth home defeat in a month, a fifth in total. With the manager and the United hierarchy contemplating a January transfer window in which little or no strengthening may occur, where the Moyes project goes from this juncture will fascinate. The Scot admitted a pressing need to recruit. "There is an urgency that we would like to bring people in, but are those players available in January? So there is no point in me hyping it up because the players we would like to bring in are probably not ...

Rafael is happy to see Darren Fletcher back in action. David Moyes says the job was done at Villa Park but also insists he wants more improvements. Wigan Athletic coach is hopeful that Manchester United allow Nick Powell to complete his loan spell for full season. Manchester United's U-21 midfielder Charni Ekangamene has been given a first team squad number by David Moyes, his jersey no. is 43. More on him he is a defensive holding midfielder and has been a regular team player for U-21's. And is a Belgian and just 19 years old. Maybe David Moyes might hand him a Capital One Cup debut if not full match maybe as a sub.
Wenger has reaffirmed his admiration for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, saying every manager "dreams of having a player" like him. Manchester United manager David Moyes praised the courage of Darren Fletcher following the midfielder's comeback from a career-threatening illness. Arsenal face a £3.6 million bill to sign Barcelona starlet Antonio Sanabria. Fulham's Bryan Ruiz is keen on a move to Belgian side Anderlecht in January. It was a fine day for United at Villa Park, with David Moyes' side claiming a 3-0 win and Darren Fletcher making...
Three and easy for Utd Danny Welbeck scored twice as Manchester United eased to a comfortable 3-0 win at Aston Villa. In what was a welcome return to form for United, they claimed their first Premier League win since they beat Arsenal over a month ago. After a bright start from Villa, it was United who went ahead on 15 minutes as Welbeck finished from close range after Adnan Januzaj's header had cannoned back off the post. Just minutes later and Welbeck was on hand to convert his second as he slid home to meet Antonio Valencia's cross. The scoring was completed not long into the second half, and it was another well-worked team goal as Tom Cleverley exchanged passes with Wayne Rooney before firing past Brad Guzan. United were also boosted by the return of Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher, who made his first league appearance in nearly 12 months when he came on in the second half. David Moyes's side had been staring at a hat-trick of defeats for only the third time in the entire Premier League era. Whils ...
David Moyes says Darren Fletcher "looked like had had never been away" after returning in Man Utd's 3-0 win at Aston Villa.
VIDEO: Manchester United boss David Moyes lauds Danny Welbeck and praises Darren Fletcher after his comeback;
David Moyes believes Darren Fletcher is on the road to recovery having made his football comeback earlier this week, though the Manchester United manager is wary of rushing him back into the first team at Old Trafford. Encouragingly, after months of recovery, the Reds midfielder made his long-awaited return on Monday via a 67 minute outing for the Under-21s, contributing to a 2-2 draw with Fulham at the AJ Bell stadium. And after the match, Fletch revealed his ambition to “get back in the manager’s plans and help on the pitch.” But speaking during his weekly press conference at the Aon Training Complex, Moyes was understandably cautious when quizzed on his Scottish compatriot. “It was his first time putting on a jersey in a competitive game, so we certainly won't be rushing Darren,” the boss explained. “His training has been coming along, he's looking much better in himself and is looking stronger every day. But we won't rush him. We don't want any setbacks with him coming back so we'll take o ...
Manchester United boss David Moyes is keen to involve Darren Fletcher in first team action. The former Scotland captain has faced a 22-month battle to play again after being diagnosed with a chronic bowel condition. He has not played for United since a Boxing Day win over Newcastle in 2012. The Daily Star says Moyes is keen to re-integrate Fletcher, who has targeted a possible comeback sometime next month. His return to action would be a huge boost to Moyes, who has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since replacing Fergie. -SP
