Dan Bylsma

Dan Bylsma (born September 19, 1970) is the Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL) as of February 15, 2009, replacing Michel Therrien.

Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin Kris Letang Stanley Cup Sidney Crosby Ray Shero Peter Laviolette Bill Cowher Jonathan Quick Paul Martin Brooks Orpik Craig Adams Claude Julien Jussi Jokinen Gordon Bombay United States Mike Babcock

Rember that time the Penguins had Jerome Iginla and Dan Bylsma wasted him? Me too.
Man, Dan Bylsma is so out-classed in this Stanley Cup playoff. It's especially evident watching the Detroit-Boston and St. Louis-Chicago series.
,Penguins play @ 4:00 I hope Dan Bylsma has a line thru Fleury's name In the lineup card an Pencils in Zatkoff
Dan bylsma knows how to make a girl crazy. The thought of Brooks Orpik and David Backes practicing together makes my heart race. Whew.
Dan Bylsma has been this teams week spot for nearly 4 years. Therien's team won the cup and talent gave Dan his winning record.
For the next Head Coach, my guess would be Barry Trotz, Peter Laviolette, or Dan Bylsma who I doubt will survive the postseason.
Dan Bylsma would be a dream, his era in Pittsbourgh is over
Laviolette sure... Trotz is a solid "maybe". Disco Dan is a "not only no, but *** NO!" Bylsma's cup is really Therrien's.
Dan Bylsma would be great. He would demand respect by everyone. Somehow I don't think he will be released.
coach wise...I think you're looking at Barry Trotz, Dan Bylsma (depending what happens there), Peter Laviolette...
If you are expecting Dan Bylsma to change now, you don't understand coaches. They will die on their own sword than admit change.
should hire Bob Woods (Boudreau's assistant w/ Caps & Ducks), Peter Laviolette, Guy Boucher, Or Dan Bylsma (if the Pens fire him).
Todd Richards saying Dan Bylsma has been doing a good job. How cute...or he's just hoping he continues to dominate him strategically.
Todd Richards says Dan Bylsma has done a really good job at designing plays/formations/strategies for faceoffs.
Also see: Schottenheimer, Marty and Lewis, Marvin, and maybe soon, Bylsma, Dan.

Perhaps Dan Bylsma's message got through. A day after Bylsma questioned his players' effort and passion in their first-round Stanley Cup playoffs...
The Penguins have absorbed 215 hits from Columbus in the first four games of their opening-round playoff series. That’s easily the most of any NHL team in these playoffs, and that total doesn’t even include the one their own coach delivered Thursday. Dan Bylsma, asked what aspect of his team’s perfo…
Dan Bylsma is the worse coach ever instead of giving the Team the day off they shoulda been practicing yesterday ..there is no reason for a Team that has players barley good enough to be on the pens 3rd or 4th line Marx ande flurey needs to stay in the Net and crosby well he isnt no leader on that Team if he was the pens woulda had the series wraped up already
During a joint press congress after "mandatory" practice Disco Dan and Iceberg appeared together and commented on the closed to the public skate. Bylsma did report Sidney Crosby was on the ice, a place he has not been seen since the beginning of the Stanley Cup playoffs except for one photograph where it seems that the star forward and team captain thought he was a goalie and had "tagged the Flower" out late in Wednesdays loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. When asked for photographic evidence that the Art Ross trophy and two time Olympic gold medalist Captain had been on the ice and was actually making shots on goal, Iceberg remained silent and stoic on the subject. Dan Bylsma, the Stanley Cup winning coach of the Penguins had also said that the defense had shown up, and they all apologized for their tardiness. In a strange turn if events, the Defense's alarm clock didn't go off and the dog ate the white board that the signature 1-2-2 defensive scheme Bylsma had drawn up was on. The Columbus Blue Jackets ...
And the Pressure mounts little one .MARIO has spoken .WIN OR LOSE ...THIS WILL BE A GRAND OFF SEASON, witnessing a major overhaul with this club starting with you, Dan Bylsma ✌️
coach Dan Bylsma is not holding back. Normally reserved in public comments, Bylsma offered harsh words for his team following a 4-3 overtime loss at Columbus on Wednesday that tied the first-round Stanley Cup playoff series at two games apiece. He said goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury misplayed a puck, the Penguins needed better effort from all players, and franchise centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin need to score. “The work and compete and the battle level has probably been the most troubling thing from our team,” Bylsma said Thursday, a Penguins off day leading to Game 5 on Saturday at Consol Energy Center. Asked whether Fleury was correct to play a bouncing puck behind his net late in regulation — a gaffe that led to Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky's game-tying goal — Bylsma didn't take his goalie's side. “Typically the rule of thumb is the puck's on the glass, you stay in the net. Puck's on the dasher, you have a truer read on the play,” Bylsma said. “Given the time of the game, t ...
So Dan Bylsma calls out his team, and we'll have clips of that today at the opening of the show. He did it through the media, but did he say it directly to them? About time, or is it too late for that? I have been searching for a word that describes what/who the Penguins are missing. I finally came up with it last night while watching Boston/Detroit. I'll tell you at 12:15, and Rob Rossi will join us at 12:30 with the latest from Pens practice. It's not too early to think the Pirates are in trouble. Is it Gregory Polanco time? And Matt Williamson will join Tim and me at 1:30 to talk about the draft, and specifically 2 players who are shooting up the charts.
With his goaltender in the crosshairs, Dan Bylsma called out his whole club on Thursday.
More proof that Dan Bylsma is a Jack *** Watch Jarome Iginla play and thrive on the right wing in Boston. Funny how Bylsma couldn't figure out that a right wing should play right wing. I hope Iggy gets the cup winning goal this year.
Dan Bylsma: Please stop playing Paul Martin, he is the worst defensemen in the nhl.
Dan Bylsma is in disbelief over the call to Adams, on the Penalty Kill now
If Penguins manage to win this game, not sure which coach should offer post-game reaction, Dan Bylsma or John Hynes from Wilkes-Barre.
Congrats to Dan Bylsma on win number 250, fastest coach to reach it in NHL history
Dan Bylsma's playoff record is 36-29 with 1 Stanley Cup Championship his first season as coach. With all that talent that's not good.

I'm old enough to remember when people talked about Bill Cowher the same way they talk about Dan Bylsma.
I would never root against my country but I guess Dan Bylsma you get what you get for not starting
I'm way more sad for Jonathan Quick than anyone else. As usual Dan Bylsma can't figure out how to alter his game plan on the fly.
“Dan Bylsma's probably going all Herb Brooks in the locker room right now.”
Ok I get the fact that Oshie was the hero in the SO against Russia but Dan Bylsma *** were you thinking not shooting Patrick Kane at all? Always thought he was moron!
SOCHI, Russia — As the United States and Canada men’s ice hockey teams stare down a potential Olympic semifinal meeting with only quarterfinal matchups today standing between them, Canada coach Mike Babcock has a problem on his hands that Team USA coach Dan Bylsma can’t really comprehend: Of all thi...
After the weekend events at the Olympics in Sochi, the Netherlands leads with 17 medals, while Russia is 2nd with 16, while the United States is 3rd, also with 16. That is because they both have 4 gold medals, but Russia has 7 silver compared to the U.S.’s 4 silver medals. T.J. Oshie scored four times in the shootout and got the winner in the eighth round, leading the United States past Russia 3 to 2 on Saturday in the thrilling revival of an Olympic hockey rivalry. Cam Fowler and Joe Pavelski scored in regulation for the Americans in the marquee game of the preliminary round. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves and stopped five attempts in the shootout. International rules allow the same player to take multiple shots after the first three rounds of a shootout, and U.S. coach Dan Bylsma leaned on Oshie. The Saint Louis forward went 4 for 6 against Sergei Bobrovsky. Phil Kessel scored two of his three goals in the opening 4:33 and became the first U.S. player with an Olympic hat trick in more than a decad ...

Fans aren't the only ones looking for stuff to do during the Olympic break. Being slightly too old for new parts, Pascal Dupuis has his ACL rebuilt using parts from cadaver pigs. No word on how the Flyers felt when they woke up without their parts. Dan Bylsma has sent to the US for some new coloring books to keep Peter Laviolette busy. Dan remarked that "Some of those 'Spot the Differences' books would be cool, too." Team USA GM Ray Shero trades 4 chickens, and a promise of using more maple syrup during team breakfasts, to Team Canada in exchange for Sidney Crosby. As Sid leaves the Canadian team's hotel, he remarks to a confused Steve Yzerman, "You know, we don't even HAVE team breakfasts." There are also confirmed reports that Shero traded a broken, empty Yuengling bottle, some expired catnip, and Peter Laviolette to St. Louis for T.J. Oshie before today's epic shootout was even over. Filming for a new documentary called "When Good Arteries Go Bad", starring Tómâs Vokoun and Kris Letang, is constantly ...
Dan Bylsma is looking like a genius for pairing Joe Pavelski and Phil Kessel on the first line.

Dan Bylsma is banking on Jonathan Quick coming up big again for the United States on Saturday.
SOCHI -- Any curiosity American coach Dan Bylsma might have had about how a team he’s still getting to know would respond to some adversity went away quickly in the second period Thursday. After watching Slovakia forward Tomas Tatar get away with going into the zone offside to score a game-tying goal 24 seconds in, the Americans responded with six unanswered goals before the second intermission, blowing what was a tight game wide open en route to a 7-1 throttling of the Slovaks in the tournament opener for both teams at Shayba Arena. The U.S. had six different goal scorers and 11 players with at least one point, led by Phil Kessel’s three. Paul Stastny scored twice, John Carlson had a goal and an assist, and T.J. Oshie, James van Riemsdyk and Patrick Kane each had two assists. Ryan Kesler, Dustin Brown and David Backes also scored for the Americans. Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in his Olympic debut to help the U.S. beat Slovakia for the first time in the Olympics. The Americans previously had tied the ...
SOCHI, Russia -- Five thoughts from Team USA's dominant 7-1 win over Slovakia: 1. Kane-Kesler killing it: Yes, Phil Kessel led the Americans in their dismantling of Slovakia on a goal and two assists, including a nice drop pass to set up the game's first goal by John Carlson. But the guy who was most impressive in the surprising blowout win was Patrick Kane. His handling of the puck on the wider ice in Sochi was a treat to see, and coach Dan Bylsma clearly is sold on the Kane-Ryan Kesler duo as a keeper. The two finished the 2010 Vancouver Olympics playing together, and they picked up where they left off, enjoying a dynamic game Thursday. Kane had two assists, and Kesler and Dustin Brown each had a goal. If both of Team USA's big lines keep rolling, it will put a lot of pressure on the Russian defense Saturday. But keep your eye on Kane, who could be adding to his already impressive hockey résumé. 2. Stastny kicks it down: Great start for Paul Stastny, who had two goals against the country in which both ...

UNBELIEVABLY impressive game by the Americans :) What a great start by silencing all of the negative articles about our defense, Jonathan Quick, and Dan Bylsma, who all did an amazing job in the opener! It's not us that should fear the Russian team, they should fear US!!! Time to start believing!!! USA! USA! USA! BEAT RUSSIA!

"He'd look great skating with Craig Adams and Derek Engelland" -Dan Bylsma
If you think the Flyers, Kings, Avalanche, Coyotes or Penguins started their 4th line against Vancouver and John Tortarella would rush the locker room on Craig Berube, Darryl Sutter, Partick Roy, Dave Tippit or Dan Bylsma you're absolutely nuts because even Torts ain't that stupid.
CALGARY, Alberta – Penguins coach Dan Bylsma called the Calgary Flames “a tiger backed into a corner.” The Penguins, like so many teams lately, tamed the Flames, who have labored to score in recent weeks. Another thought on the US hockey team: despite how much I like Dan Bylsma as a coach, I'd really like to see Gordon Bombay
Evgeni Malkin scored twice in his return from injury and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-5 on Sunday afternoon. James Neal added two goals for Pittsburgh, which matched a club record by winning its 12th straight home game. Jussi Jokinen picked up his third goal in two games and Matt Niskanen put in the winner with less than 8 minutes left. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 29 shots as Penguins coach Dan Bylsma won his 232nd game with Pittsburgh, moving into a tie with Eddie Johnston for the most victories in franchise history. Evander Kane had two goals and an assist for the Jets. Jacob Trouba, Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele also scored as Winnipeg remained winless in Pittsburgh since 2006. Al Montoya made 33 saves, but couldn’t make an early two-goal lead stand.
Evgeni Malkin woke up this morning, texted Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma and told him he was good to go after missing nine games because of an ailing left leg. Sure looked like it.
For those who might have missed it -- Dan Bylsma equaled Eddie Johnston's franchise record of 232 career victories today.
WIN! 6-5 final. Dan Bylsma ties Eddie Johnston for the all-time franchise record of 232 career-wins.
Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday season! But now, it's back to business. We say this every year it seems, but it sure seems as though officiating in the NFL is at an all time low. And it happens on non-judgment plays where mistakes should never be made. This whole thing has caused me to change my mind on one proposal to make it a degree. Your thoughts? Glad to see that Martin and Orpik made the Olympic team, but does it strike you that the USA doesn't have enough scoring power? And I've got a line change suggestion for Dan soon as possible. Phil Bourque joins us at 1. And we know there will be a lot of personnel changes on the Steelers, but what about coaching changes..or changes in draft philosophy? We'll discuss it with Gerry Dulac at 1:30. And don't forget tomorrow we'll conduct voting for JAGOFF OF THE YEAR!
Pittsburgh Penguins defensemen Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik were never in any doubt to the eyes of Team USA management (a group that included Pens GM Ray Shero and coach Dan Bylsma). They were named to the Olympic team that'll go to Sochi next month.
Well Paul Martin & Brooks Orpik got their names called but they forgot to name the Head Coach... Which if nobody knows who it is it's Dan Bylsma
Defenseman Rob Scuderi, who has been out of the lineup since late November with an ankle injury, met with the coaching staff and told them he is ready to return. However, the decision is theirs. Head Coach Dan Bylsma said the lineup will be a game-time decision.
Three Rivers Classic Head Coach Dan Bylsma brought out his old uniform for the keynote address!
You could even replace Mike Tomlin with Clint Hurdle or Dan Bylsma.
Question of the day to Pensvlog: Comes from Janie. "Dear PV, if Dan Bylsma were to be fired, who would be a suitable replacement." Our Answer: Thanks for the question. A suitable replacement would be anything animate at this point, a used puck back, a box of cheerios, heck even a snowblower has more emotion than Dan B. But in all seriousness, I think the names are few, but I would seriously consider Peter Laviolette. That's the one name I would go with. You would have to fire Granato(whose a joke) and Reirden. I keep Martin as the assistant. Laviolette despite any misgivings in a no-nonsense kinda guy. Pens could use a little bit of a firecracker.
Penguins players are not out looking for fights Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik doesn't care about “the code.” Orpik, through no fault of his own, found himself in a Boston hospital on Saturday because of his beliefs. The Boston Bruins targeted Orpik early and often following a hit to forward Loui Eriksson in the opening minute, clearly believing that Orpik owed them a fight because of his hit. Orpik's hit, which saw his right shoulder plant Eriksson in the chest, was deemed legal. Still, the Bruins — notably enforcer Shawn Thornton — challenged Orpik to fisticuffs on numerous occasions, apparently because Orpik chose to aggressively hit one of the Bruins marquee players. Boston coach Claude Julien said on Sunday night that he “disagrees” with Penguins coach Dan Bylsma's assessment that the hit was legal. No penalty was called on the play. The Penguins don't believe fighting is always a sign of toughness, nor do they think Orpik should have felt obligated to fight. “I'm not going to back do ...
It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh! Tonight from the BB&T Center in Florida, the Penguins meet the Florida Panthers. The Penguins are 17-9-1 35 points and first place in the Metropolitan Division. They are 6-3-1 in their last 10. Florida is 7-14-5 19 points. They are 4-5-1 in their last 10. Dan Bylsma got his 100th road win as Penguins Head Coach yesterday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Pens haven't had a losing record on the road since Sidney Crosby's rookie season. After giving up 5 goals on 48 shots against the Leafs, the Pens defense systematically shut down the Lightning giving up no goals on 21 shots. Florida hasn't played since a 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers Wednesday. Since Peter Horachek took over as coach, Scottie Upshall has been much improved. He has 3 goals 5 assists for 8 points in 10 games under Horachek. Upshall has also been named an alternate captain because of his improved play. The Pens top guns are still hot. Evgeni Malkin 3 goals and 7 assists in a 7 game point streak. Crosb ...

Would you rather have Dan Bylsma or John Russell managing your team?
So I didn't see much of tonight's game but from what I'm reading Dan Bylsma has lost his mind. First off he has Orpik and Engelland (the same Engelland who couldn't crack the top six a few games ago and played wing on multiple occasions) as the shut down pair against Philadelphia's top line. Second, Sean Couturier (Jordan Staal light) is Philadelphia's shut down center. Naturally he is going to get the task of shutting down Crosby. Especially being the home team why did Bylsma not get Crosby away from him? Home team gets last change. And last but not least why does he trust third/fourth line or even borderline AHL plugs in crunch time? Dagostini in St. Louis and tonight with Vitale. These are simple tactics that one would think should be common sense to an NHL coach. What you say Dan Bylsma??
Observation from last nights fundraiser. There are so many good people left in the world. From a sports perspective, everyone in attendance last night was awesome, LaMarr, Cutch, Neil Walker, Clint Hurdle, and Dan Bylsma. All great guys and super accommodating. I'm going to give mad ups to Clint Hurdle and Neil Walker. I've gotta say, Hurdle is a good man. The guy had knee surgery in the morning and was ready for the evening. It was cool watching him interact with Jason and him saying how he was aware of and the sincerity and compassion he had shown. Very similar story with Neil Walker. Two very regular guys who went above and beyond at 400 person function. It made being a Pirate fan even sweeter and added to what last night was about for me personally.
Simply put, it is very difficult to see a coach like Peter Laviolette go. I was very tough on Lavvy here in these blogs the past two seasons but it was never personal; I appreciate every season defining moment he left with the fans and team. Unfortunately, as the old sporting adage goes, coaches are hired to get fired and Lavvy's inability or unwillingness to adopt a style of play that best suited what was on hand was his undoing. Nevertheless, I'll remember his time with the Flyers as a exciting one; the making of the playoffs on the final day of the 2010 season in a shootout to propel the Flyers into the playoffs and his standing on the boards and threatening of Dan Bylsma in a fight filled game with the Penguins remain some of my all time favorite Flyers memories. My favorite memory of the Laviolette tenure though is of the image below; his timeout against the Boston Bruins in game 7 of the 2010 playoffs. The Flyers trailed 3-0 in the first period where Lavvy called the infamous timeout, mouthing to th ...
I would like to wish to our Head Coach Dan Bylsma a very happy birthday today! Better bring us the Stanley Cup ;) Let's Go Pens!
There looks to be one spot in the top 6 forward spots open on the second line with C Evgeni Malkin and RW James Neal. F Jussi Jokinen and F Beau Bennett were mentioned specifically by Dan Bylsma for the position.
Any word on whether Dan Bylsma was wearing a Tanner Glass jersey when he spoke to the media today?
Took this a little earlier. Not the best picture, but it's Dan Bylsma at the Field and Stream store grand opening.
Clint Hurdle should teach a class on in game adjustments...only one student though, Dan Bylsma.

For what it's worth, D'Agostini had his best season (21 goals in 10-11) under Davis Payne, a coach with some similarities to Dan Bylsma.

Be a young Pittsburgh Penguin and be given a shot by Dan Bylsma to play...
Sounds like nothing but excuses to me... Unacceptable. • Had the chance to ask Dan Bylsma a couple days ago if he watched what the Blackhawks did to the Bruins in the Stanley Cup Final that the Penguins clearly couldn't do. Which is to say the Penguins couldn't score, in large part because they couldn't — or wouldn't — go near Tuukka Rask. “You know, a few of our players were still around here to watch Games 1 and 2 of the Final, and there were some guys who were upset that we didn't get, say, a goal off Andrew Ference's skate.” As Chicago did in Game 1. “We were, like, ‘Where was our break?' We weren't able to get that. Just one goal, that thing that changes the game.” I'll agree the Penguins had close to zero luck. But what of crashing the crease, hardly a luck issue? “No question, Chicago got a lot of goals around the net, even behind Rask. We've looked at that as a staff. We've looked at things we need to do better. But we had scoring chances, and it's not like all of them were clean ...

PENGUINS' DAN BLYSMA INTRODUCED AS COACH FOR TEAM USA Team USA confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in hockey on Saturday by naming Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma the coach for the 2014 Olympic team that will compete in Sochi, Russia. It was reported earlier in the week that Bylsma was the man for the job, edging out other top candidates like John Tortorella and Peter Laviolette. "We're thrilled to have Dan as coach of our men's Olympic team" Ron DeGregorio, the president of USA Hockey said. "He's rapidly established himself as one of the most prominent coaches in our country today and we know he'll help put us in the best position of achieving our ultimately goal of bringing home the gold medal." Team USA won silver during the 2010 games in Vancouver after losing the gold medal game in overtime to Canada when Sidney Crosby beat Ryan Miller. Bylsma said this time around Team USA has one goal. "We certainly have one objective, and that's to go to Sochi and win gold," Bylsma said during his introdu ...

Herb Brooks. Gordon Bombay. And now Dan Bylsma. Proud to see he'll be coaching Team His best work:
Dan Bylsma, selected as coach of the 2014 USA mens Olympic Hockey Coach!
We all thought this year the penguins would win the cup with their amazing skill and high ranked players, thats till the big black bear bruins took a running start and ripped the penguins apart. The question that surfaces is will Dan Bylsma be forced off the team or is there going to be a new GM? These questions usually surface when the last time the penguins won the Stanley Cup was in 2009 and every other season except this one for sure they were knocked out of the 1st round. They might have had the strength but the strategy was not there was it because they were too tired? or maybe they just didnt want the cup that bad this year? Its tough to say which one it could have been though they had the perfect team sometimes that doesnt make it strong enough to go through everyone know you need the hunger for the cup in your blood to make you succeed. After the horrifying loss to the bruins almost everyone predicted how the season was going to end. Bruins VS Blackhawks and the Blackhawks would win. It was close ...
Clint Hurdle is doing a better job than Dan Bylsma.
Tortorella, BTW, is one of three candidates - Peter Laviolette and Dan Bylsma are the others - to be Head Coach of 2014…
Two questions after Game 3. Do Pens fans still want Dan Bylsma fired? How good was Tim Thomas playing to keep Tuukka Rask on the bench?
The Penguins rely on a quick transition game to drive their offense and few players in the league are as good in transition as Letang. Dan Bylsma and his style of hockey isn’t going anywhere now that he’s been signed to a two-year extension.
here's me on Dan Bylsma, job security, and Battlestar Galactica
Watching the masterpiece that is The Mighty Ducks. A few things always occur to me; man do I hate Averman, Jesse and Peter. At least Jesse was one of the few good players before they got coached and Banks joined the team. Next is how young Mike Madano is in the movie. Then the 'Oreo Line' is one of the more racist things that's just in movies for some reason. Also how much better a coach is Emilo Estevez is than Dan Bylsma. Finally if you've analyzed this movie as much as Matt and Mark Vellky have you realize how dominating a player Gordon Bombay was. He scored 198 goals in a season thats no more than 15 games (at one point they show the standings and the Hawks are 12-0-0, they show them play one more game at least but for arguments sake we'll say 3 more.) That's 13.2 goals per game. BEST.PLAYER.EVER!
Pittsburgh Penguins chairman and co-owner Mario Lemieux may order the dismissal of Head Coach Dan Bylsma after the team was swept by the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference finals, …
Well, last Penguin post for at least a couple weeks... the Dan Bylsma re-hiring hopefully came with some caveats: 1.) Play the younger guys: Bennet should have played every game, Despres should have played every game. You don't play upsy/downsy in the Stanley Cup playoffs. 2.) Stick with a TEAM: refer to the previous comment. It was bad enough the whole team was pretty much hurt going into the playoffs, but to continue to bounce guys in and out was laughable. 3.) Learn how to deal with guys better at hockey than yourself: Iginila got flack for not performing, he has been on the right wing his whole "Hall of Fame" career, his was on the wrong wing. Bylsma needs to stop coddling his stars. If Sid wants to play with Kunitz (who was awful all playoffs) and Dupuis, you need to tell him... "I'm replacing Kunitz with a Hall of Fame caliber talent, you are the best in the world you can handle it." 4.) Stop coddling your players: They are adults, if they can't handle criticism how the *** are they going to handle ...
The Pittsburgh Penguins and coach Dan Bylsma have agreed to a two-year contract extension through 2016. General manager Ray Shero announced the deal Wednesday morning, less than a week after the Eastern Conference's top seed was swept by Boston in the conference finals.
If Bill Cowher got 15 years, Dan Bylsma can get 2 more.
Dan Bylsma just given 2 year contract extension!!!
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed coach Dan Bylsma to a 2-yr extension. So that answers that. Gotta admit, not sure that I am a fan of this decision.
Dan Bylsma is the new Bill Cowher. Winning 1 Title, but mostly losing when it counted.

Dan Bylsma has...had his contract extended for 2 years.
While I am on a roll, after hearing a lot of Pens discussion the last few days, it sounds like Dan Bylsma and "The Flower" will be back next year, Geno will get a long-term deal and Kris Letang will be traded if the Pens can get a reasonable offer. The Pens do not have a long-term alternative to "The Flower" unless they can get someone back in a trade. Sadly, there is a lot of speculation that the goalie coach will be let go to bring someone to get "The Flower's" head straight during the play-offs. The Pens are very deep with young defense-men and are likely to trade Letang for help at the wing positions. Dupuis wants to stay but wants a 4 year commitment which may be a problem for the Pens. Ingilia may be the only player brought in at the trading deadline if he is willing to give a hometown discount. Cooke is a free agent and may get an offer the Pens will decline to match.
As hard as I am on Kris Letang, I think there's an excellent chance that Dan Bylsma ruined him.
I agree. To be honest, Dan Bylsma might have ruined Kris Letang.
Dan Bylsma said a few days ago that Marc Andre Fleury will be the starter next year. I think Fleury is a great goalie who had a bad playoffs and is better then he played in the playoffs. It seems as if Vokoun will stay as the backup unless he is cut, traded, or retires. Do you think Fleury should be the starter next year??? I do. -Adam

Greg Wyshynski, author of the 'Puckdaddy' blog, has lined up his reasons why Pens' coach Dan Bylsma should be fired. Greg will be on the X Morning Show with Tim this morning at 8:45am.
Marc-Andre Fleury will be the Penguins' starting goaltender next year according to Head Coach Dan Bylsma.
Dan Bylsma left no doubt Sunday that Marc-Andre Fleury will regain his status as the Penguins' No. 1 goaltender for the start of the 2013-14 season.
The talk around the campfire is Mario Lemieux may order the firing of Dan wouldn't be the first coach Mario ordered many did Saint Mario fire when he was a player?
So, yeah, Dan Bylsma is an *** He said today that Despres is a top four defensemen and that Bennett is a top six forward. Then, uh, why didn't you play them more? Especially when you consider Paul Martin supposedly had a significant injury the last few games and was still required to log huge minutes. Then he also said Fleury was the team's franchise goalie and woulf be the No. 1 moving forward. Then why, Disco, did you not start him in Game 3 after Voky had to be pulled in Game 2?
Thanks to Greg Brown for his great expression of support for Dan Bylsma and his appreciation for the Pens season.
In a series full of offensive stars, it was the man who denied them that stood out, prompting Pens coach Dan Bylsma to call Tuukka Rask 'elite.'
Dan Bylsma will not be fired. First off, it's our players faults we went into Boston, down 2 games. Secondly, Boston played the greatest defense I've ever personally seen. Thirdly, and most importantly, HE STILL SIGNED THROUGH NEXT SEASON. Everybody who thinks he should be fired- you're ridiculous and to everyone who thinks its definitely gonna happen-- do your homework. He's not going anywhere, anytime soon. We had one *** of a season, and I enjoyed every bit of. I always feel so humbled to be a Pens fan. Now if only we could trade fluery for Lundqvist, we'd be set.
Dan Bylsma must be terminated. No way around it.
Final series overview: Plus/Minus: (This should be quick) + Tomas Vokoun EVEN Paul Martin EVEN Craig Adams EVEN Matt Cooke - (Entire rest of team) -- Kris Letang (if you own a Letang jersey, burn it) -- Dan Bylsma (duh)
“Dan Bylsma: "Tomas Vokoun did great this series. He did not wear his lucky underwear so that's why we lost."
I can go back to my major reasons before the playoffs started, The two only things that would stop the Penguins from going to the Cup would be .Dan Bylsma, and Marc Andre Fleury, check it out.LOL, IT HAPPENED!...WHAT A JOKE!.
Dan Bylsma: "Tomas Vokoun was 2 goals short of brilliant, 2 goals short of Tuukka Rask in these two games. He was great."
Big changes needed in Pittsburgh. The Pens you've known for awhile are no more. So long Marc-Andre Fleury. So long Kris Letang. And so long Dan Bylsma. Can't keep underachieving like this.
If you are one of those who think James Nill is waiting to see which NHL coaches will be available for next season you can add Dan Bylsma to that list. Bylsma will almost certainly not return to lead the Penguins next year. This was an implosion of historic proportions - records being broken according to tonight's broadcast dating to 1929. I do not think that Nill will pick from the list of John Tortorella, Alain Vigneault, Joe Sacco, or Lindy Ruff. I suspect it might be Guy Boucher, who was seperated from Tampa. But Nill might pick someone we have never heard of. I feel bad for Brenden Morrow. He played well in all four losses and deserved a better result. He did more for Dallas than those millionaires collecting money from Mark Cuban.
So to give a couple people the satisfaction they want and need, I will say it here, I was WRONG about the Pens, and mostly wrong about the Bruins. I only say mostly wrong about the Bruins, because 3 out of the 4 games were close, Pens just didn't show up. Which is credit to Boston's D up to a certain degree, but when you're as a good as those top 6 in PIT you gotta find a way. Hats off to Bruins. Though I think you lose to CHI in a tight contested Cup final. All that being said, I don't care how successful he is in the regular season, Dan Bylsma needs to go. BOS is a great team yes, but the Pens have the talent to beat that team if they would learn how to change their system, the Pens have the size, strength, speed, and natural talent to play any style of hockey, but Bylsma refuses to coach, I like the guy, but he is a classic example of a coach that has been living off of his players talent, rather than using that talent to come up with a good system. BOS has some reallly good players, on a whole, not as ...
I just want to say thanks to Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin for doing their best in the Boston series... Wait, what 0 points in 4 games... Awesome effort guys!!! Well I also would like to take this time to thank the folks that will not be around for our next season... Jerome Iginla, Brendan Morrow, Douglas Murray, Matt Cooke, Marc-Andre Fleury, Dan Bylsma, and possibly Kris Letang for all your contributions and efforts for the Pittsburgh Penguins... but it's time to turn over a new page.
For my Pittsburgh Penguins fans!!! You all know I cheer for ya as long as you aren't playing against the Bruins. Let me pose this to you... You have a finesse team a team of goal scorers! For that I appreciate your team! But you need to root for that gritty team that team that makes you feel like you are cheating on your own team, this is why I invite you to cheer for the Bruins. Heck we are even black and gold! I am not one to gloat unless the Flyers are the ones that were beat, so I will say please don't fire Dan Bylsma, and please give Fleury a freaking chance during camp!
Boston is a great team. Has a good goaltender who got hot at the perfect time. They have a great coach who leads a very disciplined team. I'm picking them to win the Cup. The Pens have more issues than can be counted on two hands. I can't possibly think of a way Dan Bylsma is not fired. He's been outcoached and embarrassed four years in a row. Fleury has a $5 million cap hit for the next two years. Can't see a way he's not bought out this summer. Iginla, Morrow, Kennedy, and Murray are all free agents and I see no reason to sign any of them except Murray. Malkin and Letang have one year left on their deal and will command huge contracts that the Pens can't afford under a shrinking salary cap. Trade Letang. Time to blow up the Pens like the Flyers did two years ago. The stretch pass, run and gun BS doesn't work.
Well I'm ready for the hand shake line. I had fun watching the Penguins until this series when the extremely arrogant Dan Bylsma refused to make any adjustments to the power play or any in game adjustments when the Penguins couldn't do anything. It is time for Dan to go. He wins the Stanley Cup with Michel Therrien's team and not his own team which people seem to forget in 2009. Since then he has taken a very talented Penguins team absolutely nowhere in the playoffs. What a shame. Swept out in the conference finals. Add that to Bylsma's list of accomplishments. Good luck to Tyler Kennedy, Matt Cooke, Jerome Iginla, Brendan Morrow, Crankshaft, Craig Adams and Mark Eaton. I wish you guys all the best. Better luck next year.

Game 2: Pens vs. Bruins: Bruins home holding commanding lead on Penguins: Big story: In the previous round, the Chicago Blackhawks faced a 3-1 series deficit against the Detroit Red Wings before rallying to advance; now the NHL's other dominant team during the regular season, the Pittsburgh Penguins, finds its back against the wall after losing the first two games of the Eastern Conference Final on home ice. The Boston Bruins chased Tomas Vokoun from Game 2 and further muddled the Penguins' goaltending situation. Back home for a pair of games at TD Garden, they'll attempt to turn what most experts predicted as a six- or seven-game series into something much shorter. Team Scope: Penguins: When Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma turned to Vokoun for Game 5 against the New York Islanders in the first round, it might have been with the mindset of giving struggling starter Marc-Andre Fleury a quick breather. But Vokoun shut out the Islanders that night and went on a run of six wins in seven games, making it impossibl ...
Does anyone know if penguins coach Dan Bylsma is coaching tonight? Emphasis on COACHING . You know like Bill Cower did in his day. Scream spit sit it *** down mf. He dealt with the prima donnas and would never allowed Ladouch 58 to be on this team.
Reports are that Vokoun was the first goalie to leave the ice, meaning he is starting tonight most likely according to tradition. We know the Penguins have major goalie issues. If you were Dan Bylsma, who would you start?
Pens coach Dan Bylsma said he will start Marc-Andre Fleury in goal Wednesday. He will replace games 1 & 2 goalie Lennay Kekua.
Dan Bylsma should be fired if the Penguins don't win the Cup. He won't be. But he should be.
Bill Cowher and Dan Bylsma have something in common. Both men won titles in spite of their players on their roster.
Dan Bylsma is looking kinda sexy tonight.
That Matt Cooke hit must have given Dan Bylsma the most intense ***
Dan bylsma is the Erik spoelstra of the NHL. Blessed with a great team.

I cant imagine what Dan Bylsma is telling his team right now. Maybe something like, "Rask is on tonight. We're screwed."

Dan Bylsma is definately a homosexual
If I were Dan Bylsma, I wouldn't let Crosby on the ice unless he had an adamantium face guard equipped w/an air bag.
They should make Dan a Bylsma coach jersey. I would totally buy it.
very true! I'm a Ducks fan though so I hope Dan Bylsma can get a championship with the Pens since he is an ex Mighty Duck!
Dan Bylsma should show the final 90 seconds of game. That's how you protect a lead while on game-ending power play.
Dan Bylsma is probably the only NHL coach I actually respect besides Claude Julien
Dan Bylsma, if you can hear me, all I want for my birthday is total Bostonian domination.
The best part of this West Final is Dan Bylsma & Fleury watching the game together while Bylsma screams "WHY CAN'T YOU SAVE LIKE THIS!"
Claude Julien wasn’t hiding the fact that strategy is part hockey blueprint and part chess match, but there is an interesting contrast between the two Head Coaches' mentalities.
Claude Julien and Dan Bylsma differ on their coaching strategies heading into Game 1 - by

This is gonna be fun!!!.GO PITT...ONLY BECAUSE COACH Dan Bylsma is the MAN.and cindy Crosby is starting to grow on me!!!
please Boston just beat Pittsburgh so all these arrogant "analysts" who think Dan Bylsma is as good of a coach as julien, or that pitts will score 6 and 7 a game like they did against ottawa. what no1 mentions is that ottawa gave up, the flyers embarrassed the pens last yr and they played the 7 and 8 seeds the 1st 2 rounds. the bruins wont give up when their down, theyll actually hit malkin, iginla, crosby, martin and letang, and can / will score with all 4 lines. these 8 days off helped us way more then you. Chara and Siedenberg fully rested and healthy is a better trade off then Crosby losing his lower mask. oh yeah. Vokoun and Fluery suck. calling Tuukka average was great, we should thank you for that after we win the series. Bruins in 6.

Nash, Callahan, Richards (on occasion) and Brassard. Other than those guys, no one else can score. The one other guy who could was traded. And then everyone complains that the Rangers don't score. Of course they don't score goals, they don't have enough guys who can! That's Tortorella's fault? If not for him this team might not have even made the playoffs this year.

The Cup will stay in the USA another year as the Ottawa Senators are defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins 4 games to 1. Congrats to 2 former LA Kings players: coach Dan Bylsma and Tony Granato for reaching the Eastern Conference finals. GKG!!!
Once again Bylsma refuses to put Iginla on the top left D spot for Letang who can't hit the net as of late...C'mon Dan quit being stubborn just because everyone in the media is calling for it.
Good evening hockey fans and welcome to tonight's Game 5 matchup between the Ottawa Senators and your Pittsburgh Penguins! Tonight could be the night folks. The Pens could end this series and move on to the Eastern Conference Finals. Dan Bylsma is 0-6 all-time in the playoffs when the Pens can close a series out at home, but Crosby and the Pens are ready to break that tonight. Sens captain Alfredsson all but said his team was finished the other night, and the Pens seem to have solved Anderson. With Vokoun in the cage, the Pens look to beat the Sens next!
MAN! Dan Bylsma! You need to put Marc-Andre Fleury back in net!!! your making me lose out on valuable points in my hockey pool!!! AH!
Tonight, Dan Bylsma will attempt to do what he hasn't done since winning the Stanley Cup in 2009, make it past the 2nd round in the Stanley Cup playoffs . . . 1 game, game 5, tonight, at home. Daniel Alfredsson grabbed the puck off the ice on Wednesday night because he knew it would be his last home game as an Ottawa Senator, possibly as a professional hockey player . . . let's make his dream come true by ending the series tonight in Pittsburgh, LET'S GO PENS!!!
Pens shut the door on Ottawa tonight?
I'm still rattled that Dan Bylsma didn't call a timeout with 17 seconds left in the game last night? Oh wait, he's classy..
I'm glad the pens have Dan Bylsma, but Paul MacLean is a great coach. And the 'fat walrus' is a hilarious, outspoken and animated character that hockey could use more of... And he's not a plague on his team like Sean Avery, who could also be described with those words.
Per Josh Yohe : The Penguins are 0-6 all-time under Dan Bylsma when they have a chance to end a series in Pittsburgh.
Insane stat of the day: the Penguins are 0-6 under Dan Bylsma when trying to end a series at home. Great!
Crazy unbelievable stat I the day; the penguins are 0-6 all time under disco Dan bylsma while trying to close out a series at home. Hopefully tonight makes it 1-6
One other question: Were you as unhappy as I was over the Penguins play in the 1st period? Or was I overreacting and impatient?
Pittsburgh Penguins score 4 goals in third period, take 3-1 series lead VS Ottawa Senators. Sidney Crosby was careful not to get too far ahead of himself after helping the Pittsburgh Penguins rout the Ottawa Senators for a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series. "I'm not talking about anything ahead of Game 5," the Pittsburgh captain said when asked about a potential Eastern Conference final against the Boston Bruins. But after the Penguins' 7-3 victory Wednesday night, it's hard to imagine Crosby and his teammates aren't starting to think about facing the Bruins, who are up 3-0 over the New York Rangers. Jarome Iginla and James Neal each scored twice, Crosby, Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis added goals, and Tomas Vokoun made 30 saves. Down 2-1 after the first period, the Penguins scored twice in a 40-second span early in the second and added four goals in the first 10 minutes of the third. Milan Michalek, Kyle Turris and Daniel Alfredsson scored for Ottawa. Senators goalie Craig Anderson was ...
Little Giant Ladders
My 3 favorite quotes from listening to the Ottawa Senators commentators during last night's game: "It's now a 7-2 drubbing." "What message is Dan Bylsma trying to send?" (In regards to not stopping the rampant scoring by his team) "Craig Anderson was the hardest working Senator tonight. Considering he let in six goals, that says a lot about the rest of the team."
Glad the Pens won big tonight. I'd like to think it was my rant about firing Dan Bylsma earlier that lit a fire under them, but I doubt they had FB on in the locker room. Oh well, I hope Friday is the end of this series
Are the people who wanted Dan Bylsma fired after Sunday's game still out there?
Dan Bylsma is a better coach than we think !! Go pens!!!
I don't know if anyone else caught it, but Dan Bylsma actually got excited after Dupuis' short handed goal. The man finally broke his poker face.
Dan me a favour and call a time out in the last minute of the game
I hate Pittsburgh but I hope and pray to god that Bylsma takes a timeout with 17 seconds left. Oh but wait Dan Bylsma actually has class
I would give Dan Bylsma all my money if he called a timeout right now.
It's time to go SUPER DUPER! Cooke up on the play with the puck, circles around the net, Duper was open on the far side, the pass was there, and Pascal redirects the puck in the net for the shorty and Dan Bylsma was loving that. His 7th on the season. 5-2
I took Stacie Champion-Breslin's advice and went to Dinosaur BBQ with Stan Francois. Had the tres hombres brisket pulled pork and ribs. I am pleasantly full. now it is time to watch Dan Bylsma and the Pens beat the Senators!
Dan Bylsma is gonna have to hit lex Luther up for some kryptonite for the second and third. Anderson is the only thing keeping this series close
Dan Bylsma must have dozen pair of glasses to match all his suits
Bylsma. Part of the playoffs involves making tactical adjustments. You've had a few days to prepare for the all out penalty killing press Ottawa is employing. Quick, short passes while on the move is the first step necessary to move the penalty killers and create time and space in the scoring areas. What don't you understand? You're being outcoached for the second series in a row. Maclean has made his moves. Now it's time for you to respond.
To set the stage for tonight's game remember -only 9% of teams that lose the 1st 2 games of a series go on to win it (D'Oh). LA has already done that this year, too! Also, as much as Ottawa played a good game in game 3 many are saying that Ottawa didn't win as much as Pittsburgh lost ( Dumb coaching decision by Dan Bylsma in the last minute of regulation to put his Power Play unit, with Evgeni Malkin on the ice instead of defensive players remains a mystery). So while my heart says Ottawa my head says Pittsburgh!
It would appear Jussi Jokinen will be back in the lineup for the Penguins in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series against the Senators on Wednesday. Penguins coach Dan Bylsma does not confirm his lineup decisions, but he did at least speak in hypothetical terms Wednesday morning about what Jokinen would bring to his lineup if he dressed. "Jussi is a guy who's been out of our lineup and you're sitting on a guy who can make plays, score big goals, he's a faceoff guy," Bylsma said. "He's also a guy who would see time on our second power-play unit as well."
From today's morning skate: Jokinen on if he thinks he'll play tonight: Our lineup every day is a game-time decision. That's the coaches' decision. I just prepare the same way. You always prepare that you're going to play. Sutter on attacking Craig Anderson: We've got to get more traffic on him, for sure. He sees the puck well. He's got great rebound control. Didn't give us many second opportunities. So we definitely need to get more guys in front of him and more shots on net. Letang on the struggling power play: We had a lot of chances. 'Geno' has a one-timer right in the middle of the slot. 'Sid' had a breakaway. We had many chances, we didn't capitalize. Their goalie was really good. We have to keep building on that. We're still confident with our group of guys. Penguins, Neal not concerned with his lack of scoring: Pittsburgh Penguins forward James Neal has yet to score a goal against the Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and has scored once thus far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. How ...

CAUTION! The following post may be offensive to those Penguin fans who are not aware that a goal and a touchdown are the same and the only difference is the awarding of the "point system". After watching the 3rd game of the playoff series between the Penguins and the Senators, I have come to the conclusion that the Senators did not win the game. In the series with the Islanders, Fleury lost both games. At least a person on the ice lost those games. The Penguins lost the game with a person in the bench area by the name of Dan Bylsma. I have been watching hockey for over 40 years, having seen or gone to over 1000 games and have never witnessed such an enormous blunder in such an important game. The Penguins got a power play in the last 1 and 1/2 minutes of the third period with a 1-0 lead. They could have won the game if they didn't have a moron (Bylsma) behind the bench. What was he thinking? Do you think he said, "OK boys get out there and wrap this thing up with a goal?" Or did he say, "Men, I ...
If av got fired I wouldn't care. Playing Schneider was just dumb in that situation.
Is it just me or is Dan Bylsma not using Iggy enough? Oh well. Can't wait for the game tomorrow... Pens#
If not for a bonehead defensive play by the five man unit in Game 3, no one would be chirping about line combos etc.
Dan Bylsma why are you still putting Iginla and Neal on the same line with Malkin when they are both RWs. You are making one of them play out of position. Then you move Iginla from the left point where he can launch bombs at the net... for... wait for it... no legitimate reason. Oh and you don't have Sir Paul Martin on your 1st PP unit, which he should be. He's the best PP QB we have.
STOP SCREWING AROUND Dejan Kovacevic wrote about it in the Trib. Here’s an exclamation point. It’s time for Coach Dan Bylsma to stop screwing around and assemble his top two lines thusly (from left to right): Pascal Dupuis-Sidney Crosby-Jarome Iginla, Chris Kunitz-Evgeni Malkin-James Neal. Only Dupuis switches wings, and he’s never had a problem doing it. Everyone is in a place he perceives to be proper. Now, not so much. Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis is fine, and Crosby prefers that. But Byslma is the coach, and Crosby can prosper with anyone. Neal-Malkin-Iginla (or Iginla-Malkin-Neal, whatever it is today) just isn’t working. Neal is much better at right wing than left wing. For Iginla, the situation is more extreme. He just can’t play left wing. He's lost there. Iginla has played right wing for 16 years. Now is not the time for experimenting. The situation is particularly aggravating because Bylsma briefly tried the right combinations – THEY WORKED – then, out of nowhere, he went back to the wrong ...
Check out Starkey, Miller and Mueller this afternoon from 2-6 as we talk about the Pens use of Jarome Iginla and whether or not Dan Bylsma is running the ship. Should Bylsma let the players dictate the lines? We'll also look at who the best coaches are in Pittsburgh right now, and some of the answers may surprise you. We'll hear from Greg Brown at 5pm and Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix will join us at 4 to tell us how Steven Adams has managed to greatly boost his draft stock. Yeah...2 days have gone by, but I can't get Game 3 out of my head. How much do you blame the coach for his choice of personnel on that power play? I think the Pens are still in good shape...but there's something that bothers me greatly. I'll share it with you, plus I'm wondering if you are still confident. Was the OT loss merely a blip on the radar? Steigy at 1. OTA's are underway on the South Side. Gerry Dulac talks Steelers at 12:30. And is Jeff a Locke to solidify what is becoming a solid Pirates rotation? Bucs 9-2 last 11 games! We'll talk to Tim Williams of at 1:30.
I'm just gonna say it. Losing short handed is nothing short of a joke. Bylsma for some reason has no idea how to keep the lines the same. or change them. Once again, Iginla on the left, then on the right. Same guys on the powerplay. Here is a hint. If the PP *** move guys around. Can't blame Vokoun for the loss, you can thank Malkin for that. He failed to backcheck the slot as usual. They came out flat, played flat, without emotion. As we have said all season, when they fail to play with emotion(which Dan Bylsma hates) they lose.

Dan Bylsma and the Penguins players talk about the Game 3 loss and look ahead to Game 4-
OTTAWA -- When the Penguins’ line of Jarome Iginla, Evgeni Malkin and James Neal broached the boards for the first time Sunday night, that actually was
You know where this started? Everyone..Pens organization, media, fans...we invested so much in making sure Geno feels equal to Sid, that now some believe it. Not one NHL GM would take Geno over Sid. Not one. Could you imagine Sid losing Alfie last night? Could you imagine Datsyuk losing Alfie? Sid=0 points. Geno=0 points and lost Alfie on SHG. So, who had the better game? No points for razzle-dazzle. All the Geno defenders so easily turn to: SID DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. Weak, weaker, weakest. Anyway, Sid won Game 2 single-handed. Why don't I blame Sid when he loses a game? I will...when he loses a game. I don't readily recall that happening. Sid responsible both ways. Tying goal not all Geno's fault. 58 & 7 clustered. Kunitz did a bad job in the neutral zone. But Alfie is Geno's guy. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Jussi playing or not playing is an OVERRATED ISSUE. Doesn't matter at all. You think who the 12th forward was had anything to do with that result?
Hoping the penguins bring in a real coach... Lindy Ruff is on te market...
Despite last night's loss, we've seen this question pop up everywhere today. And that question is, "Do you think Fleury should get his chance in goal now that Vokoun lost?" The real question should be, will coach Bylsma switch? Would you like to see a switch?
"I think you like to think you can hold onto the puck for the last 1:27 with the power play, and that wasn’t the case. They came up with a huge goal," Penguins Head Coach Dan Bylsma said. Sorry Coach!! If U got the lead that late U r supposed 2 have your best Defenders out there @ the end regardless of power play
The Hockey Dog Blog : OK Pens fans the dogs tired this morning , so I'm not going to rant about anything this morning. Not going to moan about NBC's sudden love affair with the Sens. Or gloat about Brooks crushing Neil.well yeah maybe that ,karma's a beatch eh Chris ?What I do have is a four will mark the return of the flower to the net. Not that T.V. did anything wrong (he was brilliant) I just believe Dan will give MAF the next start. If that's the case I don't know if it's the right thing to do , but I believe it's what Bylsma will do.
OTTAWA — Even at the end, it's hard. After the two-month run, after all the bumps, bruises and butt-ends to the sternum, they wheel the Stanley Cup out, hand it to the captain and … the thing weighs 35 pounds.
Dan Bylsma is not a big time coach...just so you know. boneheaded strategy near end of 3rd period
Fan Reaction with Colin Dunlap underway. Who takes the blame for the Sens tying it late and winning it in double overtime?
Here's what I take away from that loss: 1) Easy series is now hard. 2) Wrong guys were out there on the power-play at the end of regulation. 3) Vokoun is the goalie. No debate. Looking at the short-handed goal at the end of regulation: 1) Geno's man scored. 2) & clustered. 3) Wrong guys out there. 4) It's a stink sandwich. Everyone takes the bite. Don't forget, once they pull the goalie, you're playing even-strength and you got all offensive guys out there.
Pens 2-3 with glass. 4-0 without. I'm no 1st grader... but I think I can figure out that math...
Not why we lost the game but... Dan Bylsma has got to go.
Vokoun stays in net, or I have lost all faith in Dan Bylsma
I know I sound like a broken record, but Dan Bylsma has to be the most ridiculous coach out there. seriously unbelievable to watch this man coach NHL hockey.
Get ready, *** bylsma can now put the rest of his buddies in. Eaton glass MAF all will play wed. Unreal. How do u lay back and let a SHG with 30 sec to go. Awful coach. Put the lines back roar win the NYI series.
Diamonesk Personalized Engagement Ring And Wedding
You can place this loss solely on the shoulders of Dan Bylsma for that *** poor excuse of a power play at the end of regulation. AWFUL
if Bylsma would have had appropriate personnel on the ice at the end of the third period i would be in bed right now... not cool disco dan... not cool...
Dan Bylsma should stay in the locker room for the overtime...why would he put his power play on defense.he owes every fan an explanation
I've read separate posts blaming the entire Penguins power play, Kris Letang, Evgeni Malkin, and Dan Bylsma for the game-tying goal. Oh, and Marc-Andre Fleury. The Pens could've used Jason Grilli to close out this game!
Dan Bylsma doing his best Bill Cowher impression while trying to nurse a lead
Dan Bylsma...y in the *** would you have Malkin and Letang, two guys who are offense first, defense last, on the ice with a one goal lead on a pp? You clearly blew that one...quit letting the players coach the team
We are tied at 1 so we are headed to OT! Who wins it for the Pens?
Dan Bylsma needs to be fired. Why would you leave Malkin on the ice if you want to play a defensive power play. He is the worst defensive player on this team
